"The Farmland of Bellris are rich and extensive, using irrigation water from the thousand river delta, the water carries rich soil from around the kingdoms and thus gives them the best land for farming. They can grow, preserve, fish, and sow three years worth of food for all of Epsilon in one year"

✺Forgotten Son OutfitTwo comets, one blue-violet with orange highlights the other a vibrant, electric blue, tore through the sky of the precious, sacred even, farmland of Bellris. This was where it all went down. Bellris, former kingdom, was the hearth for much of the land known as Epsilon because of this. It seemed like nothing had changed here as the rest of the country took a a step down from kingdom to republic: everyone seemed just as proud to serve the realm because for them nothing had really changed.
Perhaps it wasn't a good omen, then, these stellar bodies streaking across the sky? That all depends on the view of the people watching, doesn't it? If they were looking for something to save them they could have easily wished on these shooting stars, who they knew to be phoenixes--if not outright recognised--to deliver them from any dire situation, but that wasn't the case. As it was the people might have seen these as conspirators, intruders, destroyers... These shooting stars might be meteors after all.
"Ah~" Dixon, stretching his neck to the side, seemed to feel pretty good about it. "Blimey, I 'aven't flown in ages!" Quick scan: bales, fields, stables, some people probably squinting to see them, dots really, on the hill there. Ah. That'll do.
"These are somewhat your people, eh?" Said Dixon nodding toward the dots. "I'm interested to meeting them."

Baroness Youkimi Kai Living today without a way To understand the weight of the world
After coasting and drifting through the warm air on wings she trusted, she made her way to the farmlands. Yes, it was something of a view. There was a beautiful irrigation system, in a way seeming like a controlled delta from the sky overhead, but what made this land so lush and lively, so productive, was yet a secret known only to the people here. This was there home.
Not terribly far away, there was a farmer's market, where some daily goods were sold from a small kind of marketplace. Perhaps alive because of the sun of the day, there were people about this marketplace. Tiny children played near the stalls of their parents while older ones ran about or assisted at the stalls.
The blue phoenix landed and her feathers seemed to seamlessly fuse together. She stood and walked the last little distance to the stalls, where the fresh fruit, vegetables, and a few people were selling bread that had been baked fresh that day.
Somewhat her people? When she settled herself in Bellris, she had the chance to meet with the people who lived in this area. Even from here, perhaps especially here, the effects of the volcano could be seen, but they had been upwind of the incident, and so were not affected as greatly by the falling ash.
"In a way, yes. Not long after we parted ways, my small party and I stopped here on our way to the city. We were short on pocket money, but we managed to have enough to sustain ourselves for the day." She was more prepared today. It felt good to be established. "The fresh fruits and vegetables are particularly lush here."
There were young children, just strong enough to fly, who were above the stalls of family and friends. One of them turned, almost flipping before dropping in front of the two. Still sporting lively young feathers, the young boy had large bright eyes that seemed like embers that focused intently on them. Guests! "Hello! Are you here to get something?"

✺Forgotten Son OutfitLittle known fact: Dixon hated dragons. When he had tried to reach out to those in Lionis and the other nations he was greeted warm to coolly; the dragons in Lionis and in many other areas, however, were pretty uniform in their unwelcoming of the Ethian refugee population--forget about the idea of actually helping to rebuild the nation. Nationally politics aside, it was still so that, it seemed, there were those who felt they could score a point for their side by seeing the phoenix nation go up in smoke. As such, there was no offer attractive enough to move them. Dixon sighed and flipped his hair back at the sight of the phoenix youngsters.
"Bloody hell," he whispered to himself. "Good day, little lord," said the count tossing a wink at the boy. "We're here for lunch, if you don't mind. I reckon a sandwich is just what I need, eh?"

Baroness Youkimi Kai Living today without a way To understand the weight of the world
Youkimi's luck was determibed moatly by the flow of cash in any particular direction. If she was conversed with, it was with the same caution and appearance of civility that she radiated outward. Money made allies and enemies fairly uncaring when it came to race. Affluence had its place.
The lad perked up and straightened. There was a gleam about him that seemed to be inapired by being called lord. In this republic, how likely was he to be called that? Especially as a child of the field? "Uncle Tel's got the best stuff for sandwiches! Tomatoes, lettuce, cucumbers, and Auntie sells the best jerky!"
Proudly, the boy finished declaring this and he seemed to catch fire as he leapt and took flight again, leading them to the stalls he had mentioned earlier. The stalls and people manning them seemed equally split between dragon and phoenix. Most walked about in humanoid forms, however, so it was almost impossible to tell at a glance. The children, at least those in flight, were not so shy. Some scaled youth testing their wings in games of tag with the phoenix.
Youkimi didn't seem to mind or give great notice as she followed the little yellow firebird to the stall in question. Dixon's affinity for youth still remained.

✺Forgotten Son OutfitDixon smiled and followed the boy in his transformed state. It was obvious to see who was the adult, Dixon being twice the boy's wingspan, but you could just tell that some birds loved to play no matter how old they got. Responsibilities weren;t the concern here today. Dixon was going to have fun and just be himself. He'd always been the big brother type anyway. His aura was a bright yellow with speckles of pink and green.
They landed in a little bit off the main stretch. He and the other phoenixes were doing barrel rolls and chasing each other for perhaps longer than they should have, but hey, a day off is a day off. Dixon had managed to magnetise a troop of young phoenixes to him, climbing up him, fighting for the top and the rights to bonk the count on the head repeatedly to a symphony of giggles.
"What're you twerps doin'? It's lunch time!" Protested the count through chuckles. He gave a shrug to Youkimi and started walking again, his new growths in tact.
════════════════════════════════════════════════════════ From the crowd, as they passed, a shoulder came and collided with Dixon's. He recognised that. It wasn't an accident. The offender was stopped a couple paces behind the count. He waited. They waited. The children slowly noticed and asked what was the matter. Dixon turned and got an eye-full of a man with a stern scowl on his face and a heavy brace on his shoulder.
"... Can I help you?"
"What's the matter, bro?" Asked one of the kids.
"Shh..." Finally the stranger spoke up.
"Foreigner." The two sized each other up for a brief moment. "We don't want you here. Leave our people alone!" He turned before Dixon could fully lose his cool. The children stuck their tongues out and thumbed their noses at the man, hopping off the count to make a new game out of taking turns facing off as Dixon and the mysterious bully.
"So... How 'bout that sandwich?" Said Dixon combing a hand through his hair.

Baroness Youkimi Kai Living today without a way To understand the weight of the world
While the count played and beat his wings, Youkimi held conversation with some of the adults on the ground. She wasn't dressed up quite as much as she was accustomed to, and for the moment she had set aside her feathers, but one did not often see blue plumage quite her shade. When she had landed, she knew that some had taken notice of her. Though she appeared human at present, and her actions did not draw attention to her, she did hear some of the conversations. Fortunately, on the first way through, she managed to win some acquaintances who were partly friendly. These, as it was, were at least sympathetic to the volcano.
The playing and flying of her friend went on for close to an hour, the time being lost in the fun. During that time, she managed to barter for the ingredients she felt would make a good meal from the various stalls. Bread, the vegetables, the jerky, and carried these with her in a cloth she learned how to fold into a bag. She was no expert, by any means, and this was not something she was raised to understand, but she was a quick study. Perhaps it was her willingness to try and to accept instruction that allowed some to look past her rank. That, or it was that she was brought to a point where she was learning these things that gave some a chuckle and boosted their collective ego.
Perhaps they were simply laughing at this noblewoman was trying to tie together food in a bag again.
She took the food, recently purchased, with her to a hill and sat down to patiently wait the return of her friend. She wasn't far from a small stand, hosted by a dragon, and there were a few very small children near this stand. One, perhaps a young sister, left her four siblings and wandered up the hill to where Youkimi sat and patiently waited. The little dragon's eyes looked up at her with a kind of muted awe. She was too young to speak, but she didn't need word. Her siblings, not far away, began to flock about the tree and dance about. Some of them couldn't fly yet, and so they would make sport on the ground. Fortunately, a look was enough to keep them away from the food. But, unlike the count, the baroness didn't have the energy to keep up with the children.
When the count found her, he brought with him the small troop of children, excitable and energetic. Though, some at the mention of food, darted for their parents. She opened up the bag to show the count what she had gathered so far. It wouldn't be a three course meal, but it was food.
"You seem popular."

"Go on, ya little buggas. Get!" Teased the count, putting down the last of the children, who refused to get off his shoulder. Youkimi looked like she was more at home among the common folk than she might have liked to admit. Dixon was able to bridge from smile to smile because of it, skipping over the scowl the little stare-down from earlier was begging for.
"Maybe a little too much," said the count with a laugh as he sat down. Jerky sandwich, eh? This was exactly his kind of food. "This looks amazing!" And it was. At least to him anyway. Dixon dug in, finishing a third of the delicacy in one big bite. Nothing like a good flight to work up an appetite!
"Wow," he said with a soft smile now stuck to his face, "these people really make the most of their land, don't they?"

Baroness Youkimi Kai Living today without a way To understand the weight of the world
At the final word from the count, the lingering youth finally did scatter. However, a few, especially when one began to tease about something cutesy and how being alone with a lady was something disgusting, made a few faces before giggling madly and darting off. Youkimi cleared her throat, but otherwise tried to pay them little mind.
She took portions of the food that she wanted. She wasn't terribly fond of the jerky, mostly because of the tough texture, but she did favor the bread and the crisp vegetables that were grown here. The plants were flavorful and rich, but everything was gorgeous. The life here made it so inviting.
She nodded in answer to his question. It sounded rhetorical to her, yes, but it sounded like it invited conversation. The people who lived here had done so because this was there home. Their pride was in their land, their culture built around the work they did together. They worked alongside each other. This was home. This was safe.
"They do. They must." She tore off a small piece from the loaf she had bought for their meal. She set the piece on her tongue and chewed threw it as she continued to overlook the scene. The beauty of their surroundings, the vibrancy of the fields, and the interaction of the people. It was beautiful. She swallowed. "You treat well what you treasure."

✺Forgotten Son Outfit(I'm just quoting for exposition, Neo. I'm just gonna take the lead for a couple steps, if that's alright.) Dixon was watching the heat bounce off the roofs of the buildings and huts around, or something, and continued to look very pensive for a moment. Something about this whole thing seemed to be deeply troubling. It was as though he was just realising these people were much the same as people in Ethe. Then again, the face of poverty was very plain, easily mistaken.
"Good," he said finally turning back, "then they might understand how important it is for us to rebuild." Dixon dreamed about this every day; it just made sense that, no matter his level of intelligence, he was bound to have a firm grasp on the situation and be full of ideas on how to get his country, and his house, back into the warm light of prominence. He was also aware of the (un)intentional work Youkimi had done to strengthen the bond the two shared with the commonfolk of this country.
"So..." He had that look on his face. The same face he had all the times he was taking lessons from the baroness and had a clever association of the material being covered. It was typically a smirk. "If the former noblesse on the council are going to build without our help, which is the choice I gave, wouldn't they have to pull a lot of these good people away from their farms for an unknown amount of time to do it? I get that these people love their country, but I don't know if I would stand for that..." He glanced out over to the happy rural folk--there were some city people out too, just to show that this was the heart of everything, yeah?--and all the people who came here to just 'take care of business' but instead found themselves talking and laughing away minutes, hours, day after day, catching up with old friends they saw just yesterday and keeping a tight watch on those who held with pride that the held their best interests somewhere between their pillow and the morning tablet. Eggs. Overeasy.
"Something tells me these people would much rather work on a farm," he continued. "This whole democracy thing... Isn't the people in charge?" He played dumb, but his growing grin gave him away. "Perhaps these people would like to hear their options." Did they have something? Who knew. As the count stood it was clear, though, that he still had plenty of tricks up his sleeve. He was going make his people stronger than every, regardless of whether they happened to be the queen's subjects or not.
════════════════════════════════════════════════════════ After lunch it was time to get on with the real business. Just as well; Dixon couldn't keep the subject from his lips any longer than it took to finish that delicious(?) jerky sammidge. He had always wanted to see what Youkimi's office looked like. He assumed, but maybe they weren't going there at all. For all they knew assassins were waiting.
... Nahhh!
"So," he said straightening out his jacket, for what reason it could never be clear as they were about to take flight again, "I think it's time we start putting our countermeasures into action." He gave a smile and assured nod. "I'll follow your lead."
(Technically... lol)

Baroness Youkimi Kai Living today without a way To understand the weight of the world
At the conclusion of the quick and simple meal, Youkimi gathered together what she brought with her, which was simple and very little, and she prepared herself for flight as her mind soon began to return to what there was to be done. While yes, today was arguably more restful than she had been able to enjoy for a long time, there was still much to be done and much that needed her attention.
She glanced to him, seeing a very familiar expression on his face, easily woven into a comprehending smirk. She hoped that these farmers weren't taken from their home farms for the work asked, but perhaps their leaders would call on them to the effort... if it was the way Dixon had proposed, and if that was what they did. There was a pride in the methods used by this people, however... they wouldn't want to freely give it, lest they feel that their livelihoods and traditions are stolen by foreigners. How would this work out? Hopefully it was a wave of assisting hands and manpower to effectively till the lands and set up an initial crop. After this, Ethian hands could take over the work... Couldn't they? But there was the season to consider, also...
Like Dixon, she unfurled her wings and dismissed feet for talons. She lifted to the air and led the way back to the city. She would take the lead, but that didn't mean Dixon didn't know where they were going. There was a letter she needed to pen and there was work to do. She hoped it would turn out for the best.
