The center of Maude is home to two very impressive statues, two very ancient statues. One statue of what seems to be a very beautiful phoenix woman, Dume, and the statue of what seems to be a wingless Dragon.
A ancient rope stretches between the two statues clasped between them, it is said that if this rope breaks the world is about to fall into ruin and that the end is near.
Right now the rope is fraying, but it has yet to break.

 H E R O D ✹ L E T H O ▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄ ❝..Next to the Throne..❞ ┏━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━┓ The feet would clammer down as the man stumbled a bit as he stopped himself from falling over. He'd look around after while the wings slowly retracted. His eyes seeing the people around had been startled by his presence. He'd then look round while he rubbed the back of his head. "I...Apologize." He'd say while walking forward towards the statues, his eyes glistening while staring towards the string. He'd remember the first time his life took a turn, and why it did. He'd put a hand over his heart and lay his head down in a bow. Though after a few minutes, he'd lift his head, hoping to see her. Though, it seemed she was not around. It had been ages since had visited the Maude it seemed and he felt hurt by it, and as he walked through the crisp dirt like path, he'd look around, hoping to see a sign or a signal. ┗━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━┛ ▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄

And they told Me I was Holy." ━━━━━━━━━━━ ☥ I don't have wings ☥
The young priestess had spent countless months alone in her temple after her little sister had died. She didn't leave the temple to eat, or socialise, or do anything. She just remained indoors and prayed almost nonstop to her beloved goddess. She had once lost her faith, determined to escape the Maude. Her prison. But after Alya's death she regained her faith in her namesake. And she stopped trying to escape. The only reason why she was still alive was because an acolyte had brought food to her every evening from the cafeteria. But that acolyte died too. Only, of natural causes. The acolyte had been old and died peacefully in her sleep. The death of her mute friend had encouraged Antari to leave the temple. To venture outside. So with bloodshot eyes, she stepped outside and into the cool night air. She wandered around for a while, occasionally checking in on her feathery friends while they perched on rooftops or signs. Eventually she stumbled across her beloved prince. No, he was a king now. The king who had shown her kindness before knowing her. Just the mere sight of him alone caused her lips to curve upwards in a bright smile that was hidden by her veil. She had to resist the urge to run to him and embrace him. Upon closer inspection her beloved seemed burdened, and the smile slowly faded from her lips. What had happened? Antari waited until she was closer to him before she reached out and gently caressed his cheek. "I've missed your visits..." She murmured softly, withdrawing her hand and instead holding his hand in hers. "What is on your mind? You seem troubled." She added, hoping to help him in whatever way she could.

H E R O D ✹ L E T H O ▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄ ❝..Next to the Throne..❞ ┏━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━┓ His eyes would stare to the air as he frowned a bit deeper. He had been in the area since morn and yet had no results to show for it. His eyes would close as he exhaled in a disappointed breath, though his eyes opened feeling a hand on his cheek, his head would turn slowly as he saw what, or who he was setting out for. His eyes blinked slowly while he gazed upon her and felt her hand go to his. The man's palm encompassed her's while he let his other hand rest ontop of it. His mouth forming a light smile. "I've missed them so much as well." He'd reply while looking to her with his golden eyes dim. The man's feeling of despair slowly drifting while he leaned to her. letting his hands pull her into an embrace. "My mind is clouded by the political squabble of near warring countries. Though now, I think my mind can be at ease. My dear." He'd tell her while leaning his head to her's and putting his chin to her veil, resting his head on her's. Almost child like feelings warmed the king as he felt this was a safe haven for him. ┗━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━┛ ▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄

Antari's lips parted with surprise when she was suddenly pulled into a tight embrace. She wrapped her arms around Herod's larger frame and returned the embrace, listening to his words in silence. "The people of the Maude have also heard whispers of a coming war. I hope that this war will not come to pass, for it will only bring devastation in its wake." The priestess pulled back a little so she could clearly see her king's features. It seemed apparent that he too, did not want a war to fall upon Epsilon. "I wish that there was something I could do to help ease your burden." She admitted quietly. A small group of crows were nearby, watching the duo in an eery silence. Antari could pick each of them by name and felt better knowing that they were near. "Dance with me, my king." Her voice was barely above a whisper as her hands lifted to push his down to her waist before they locked behind his neck. Then she started swaying softly, hoping that he would follow her lead. It would be a slow dance, without much movement, as the occasion was too solemn for much more. "I wish we could see each other more often.." Another honest admission, although she didn't seem to realise that she had spoken her thoughts aloud.

His heart warming up from her mere presence while he looked to her with his eyes blinking slowly. His ears heard that the land was in fear of the impending war, though his mouth let out a sigh, shaking his head. "We are a nation, built on raw power, though we are not frugal with war." He'd tell her while nodding his head, before feeling his hands being moved down to her hips. His eyes would open wide a bit hearing the whisper looking to her. His mouth forming a light smile. He'd hold on to her a bit tighter as he stepped with her sway. His mouth chuckling. "Dance we shall than, M'lady." He'd retort while he moved with her, his heart weighing heavy, though this moment took his mind from it. His eyes locked onto her while he moved feeling the crowd going. His hand raising to her cheek while looking to her. "I just...Wanna make the best of the moments we do have..." He'd say somberly while he looked to her while leaning down to her ear. "I want to sweep you off of your feet, and take you to the castle...So we'd never be apart." ┗━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━┛ ▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄

The veiled female sighed, unable to find it in her heart to respond. His words were true. And with every empire, there would always be the threat of war close at hand. However her mood seemed to improve a little when her beloved started swaying with her. She hadn't learned how to dance, so swaying was all she could do. But she could learn. She'd get someone to teach her one day. Maybe Herod? "As do I... Every moment is a precious gift." Antari thought about it for a few moments and blinked with surprise at Herod's next statement. It was unexpected, but welcome. She withdrew a hand from around his shoulders and used it to lift her veil, just enough for her to do what she wished. Antari stopped swaying and stood on the tips of her toes. She reached up and kissed her king on his lips. She pulled away only mere moments later, unable to believe herself. The priestess hid her face behind her veil once more and buried it into Herod's chest, too embarrassed to see his reaction. "S-Sorry... I've never uhm... Done this before, so..." Her voice trailed off and she lifted a hand to touch her burning cheeks. How could she be so forward? It was so embarrassing. The crows watching them cawed loudly with amusement.

His eyes blinking rarely, trying to take in every moment with Herod. Her movements were a bit off before looking down at her, adjusting to her movements. It went smoothly while he listened to her voice speak of their moments before feeling one of her hands move. His eyes followed her motion as he stopped his steps as well, looking to her. Her body lifted as her lips meshed against his. The man's eyes widened for a moment before closing for the rest of the duration. His hand holding her waist a bit tighter while watching her reaction, it seemed she was embarrassed. His mouth formed a frown while she seemed to bury herself in his chest. His mouth letting an exhale draw from before stepping back, so her head did not rest on his chest. He'd then put his hands from her waist to her veil and lifted it lightly while leaning in and placing his lips to her's once more. His hands holding her cheeks lightly while he did. ┗━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━┛ ▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄

The tightened grip around her waist made the priestess feel more at ease, but she was still embarrassed. She felt a little disheartened when Herod pulled away from her, but that feeling was quickly smothered by a feeling of joy when he held her face between his hands and returned her kiss with one of his own. Antari deepened the kiss but pulled away before it could go any further. The crows were still cooing loudly, obviously amused by their interaction. Although another crow, the largest of the group, shooed them away and the group flew to her temple. "U-Uhm it's getting dark... Would you like to come inside?" She was incredibly flustered and the people around them wasn't helping any. But that kiss had been nice. She had enjoyed it immensely, but she didn't know how to act. Antari had never had a lover or anyone to keep her company, so all she knew was what she had heard others gossip about in the square. Which wasn't much. "Ah! Gwen. Don't attack him!" The largest crow had returned and started circling Herod's head, swooping at him but moving at the last minute so it didn't hurt him. "Sorry. She gets jealous sometimes." The ravenette explained, lowering her veil and holding her arm out for the crow to perch on. Gwen stared at the king as she made its way up Antari's arm to her shoulder.

He let her pull back after a few moments as he looked down to her after, hearing the crows above, not minding them, due to the person he was with. His eyes closing while he listened to her. He'd open his eyes while hearing her inviting him back to her home. His mouth would exhale a bit while smiling a bit. His eyes looked around while the people began to stare deeply at the two, not knowing what to think currently. His hands would then move to her waist again as he nodded. Though when the Crow came, his eyes would look up and around at it. It seemed to be a bit hostile ,but not attacking his eyebrow quirked while he saw her call it to her by holding her arm out. He'd then reply."I'll forgive you...If you allow me in your home, M'lady." He'd say in jest while closing his eyes. ┗━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━┛ ▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄

Antari's unusually coloured eyes lit up at the feel of an arm around her waist. She chuckled ar Herod's joke and linked arms with him. She nodded softly to the crow, waiting for it to leave before she started leading the way back to the temple. "Stop calling me that... Just Antari will be fine." She smiled and bowed her head, trying not to meet the eyes of anyone else around them. She was still a little embarrassed, but her stomach felt as if it were filled with hundreds of small butterflies. Then she remembered how Herod had appeared earlier. He had looked as if he had lost something until she had arrived. "Were you looking for someone earlier? It's just... You looked a little lost." Her long fingers lifted to readjust her veil while they walked.

His hand gripped her's with the arm she was holding as he could only seem to focus on the woman before him. He'd let out a breath of relief before he muttered it a few times."Antari...Antari..." His eyes would flutter around the ways, he felt a bliss about the situation as he looked back down to her. They continued to move as he felt his heart seemingly beat rapidly, both of them. "What I was looking for here?" He'd ask while walking with towards the abode. His eyes closed while he chuckled to the priestess as he lifted his chin into the air a bit sighing. "I was looking for the woman I had fallen for a years time ago." He'd mutter before looking back to her and allowing his hand to grip her's a bit tighter. The veiled woman shivered with pleasure at the sound of her name uttered from this king's lips. It sounded so sparse, yet so natural at the same time. As if this was meant to be. She only hoped that he would take the opportunity to use it more often. And, in turn, allow her to use his given name so casually as well. Her head tilted slightly with obvious curiosity as it seemed he was about to answer her question. "The woman...?" She trailed off softly, feeling a little disappointed at the thought that he had fallen for another woman in this holy city. Her mind took longer than usual to process his next words. She could feel Herod's grip tighten on her hand, and it wasn't until a full minute of silence had passed, that his words finally sunk in. "M-Me?" Antari was in shock and stumbled a little before stopping their journey completely. "Y-You mean... You fell for me that time?" She was filled with an ecstatic sense of joy, so much so that she couldn't resist throwing her arms around the male's neck and embracing him. "That makes me happy... Because I feel the same way about you." This was quite possibly the best news she had received in years. Even the melancholic thoughts of her deceased sister couldn't put a dampener on her mood. Beneath the veil, her face was glowing with happiness. "I'm so happy you came back..." She added quietly, unwilling to let him go at the moment.

His mouth in a wide grin while closing his eyes holding her closer. It was reciprocated. Their steps seemed to slowed before stopping as she embraced him. Her arms around his neck. His head would nod in her arms while he lightly lifted the woman into his grasp. While holding both of her legs to one side of his body while continuing to walk. His mouth smiles while closing his eyes. "You make me the happiest man." He'd say while moving forward on the path. His eyes opening while he leaned his head to her veil while lifting it up with his nose, holding his face close to her's. ┗━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━┛ ▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄
