A favor for July and September By the burning man, but far enough away to keep others from hearing his conversations, are two girls. They're the same height, wearing matching outfits. Neither one wears a mask. One's hair is a steely dark gray, the other has platinum-white locks. One of them smiles knowingly at your approach, and the other one scowls. But when you ask them your question, their expressions switch. "Sure, sure," says the gray-haired one. "But we need you to do something first..." "Dance with us," says the white-haired one.

To successfully complete a dance with July and September, you must roll three six-sided dice. The total of these three rolls will determine your success at the favor, and what it is July and September do to assist you. Even numbers mean you're dancing with July, and odd numbers are September.
1-4 = Total failure, you are a s**t dancer and the twin you are dancing with is embarrassed to have been seen with you. You receive no reward.
5-9 = It wasn't awful, but your partner wouldn't do it again. You receive no reward.
10-17 = You did well enough that the twin you're dancing with will put in a good word for you with the selection committee.
18 = You are a transcendent dancer. Even a lamp would look good dancing with you. July or September will not only promote your cause as a possible tithe selector, they'll also provide you with something lifesaving...
You may only roll this favor once.

alois scholz (unmasked) || 25/25 || dansu dansu "July!" Alois proclaimed in the most naked display of emotion yet. "Fashionably late was at least an hour ago. Father taught you better." He ended his chiding with a smile.
"So what is it zat you-
"What? No. You're joking... Right?"
No.
No, they were not joking. This was, perhaps, July's most lucrative trick yet. Apart from dumping a bucket of ice water on him and calling it a favor, July was never one to do precisely as bidden. And now, to be asked to dance, he expected a joke - dance with the 57 cockroaches in a suit she might say, or dance the macarena to a waltz - but she offered no light jabs now. No, he actually needed to take hand and galavant about the black halls with July as his partner. Who the hell expected this to happen? Certainly not he. Hopefully not Father (whom he hoped wasn't looking).
With a begrudging sigh, Alois held out his hand. "Fine. But zis is only because I'm already in trouble. Just don't try to vault me into ze window or somesing, alright?" He finished, and mentally referenced every lesson in dancing he ever watched.

Rabbit rarely considered dancing an activity that had ever been strictly necessary in anyone's life, and certainly not his. Even so, he smiled at September as he approached, still shaken by the scene in the spire.
"I guess we should twirl around for a while if people are expecting it. I don't want anyone thinking I'm not following the rules."

Shun Kuroda 25/25 | Care to dance? Shun tilted his head at the pair, blinking at their request for a dance in exchange for information. He was...apprehensive about this to say in the least. But honestly, he didn't have much more to lose here. He gave a bow, then took one of their hands to lead the dance. More effort was put into this than the 'dance' he had with Chel prior. He probably could have done better, but his focus wasn't entirely there. Even so, he moved about with relative grace as he guided September through the dance. Once that was done with, he folded his arms over his chest. "Is that sufficient?"

It was not the best dancing ever, but hey. Autumn wasn't really here to boogey down. She was here to kick a** and solve mysterys, and she'd already done a fair deal of a**-kicking. It was a half-assed effort, and she knew it. Whatever.
She offered the twin a bow, and departed.

Marcus 25/25 can not dance He blushed. It wasn't often that Marcus blushed when he talked with people but being asked to dance had color rising to his cheeks that had nothing to do with the wine and everything to do with his sudden fear of dancing, with someone else, and possibly embarrassing them both. Coughing, he stared at the twins before offering his hands to them both. "Well, I can't say I've danced with two ladies at once, but, then I also can't say I've have danced, or will ever dance with lovelier of a pair. It would be my pleasure to dance with you both." He could do this he told himself. He could fake it to make it and he'd been to enough parties to know basic moves and that his hand was not supposed to be held to a certain height or near certain areas. When only one twin took his hand he smiled and laughed under his breath. "Oh. I supposed- Yes, two at once would have been a bit silly, wouldn't it?" His blush only deepened. He hadn't a clue who these girls were but girls made him nervous. Actually, anyone and everyone made him nervous. "But grant me a dance later on miss?" He smiled at September genuinely wanting to at least be polite. He'd been mistaken on the request, but he'd do his best to keep his word, even so. "You and she are both very lovely. As far as favors go, this is by far the most enjoyable one." It was true at least. Sure he might humiliate himself, but, it was a lot safer than stealing or running into a couple having a tryst in an empty hall.

Juniper Wilcox (Maskless) | 25/25 | Too tired to dance
By this point in the night, Juniper was just tired. Not so tired that she wasn't interested in pursuing information and trying to find out what the hell was going on, but her efforts were...lackluster at most.
So, when she presented herself to July she was not at all surprised that the other girl didn't look thrilled by the time the music ended. Juniper hadn't done anything as horrific as step on toes, but she hadn't been fully engaged in the music and just...performed poorly. So they parted without any other words said.

Uh-uh. No way. Leila was not going to dance with someone not her wife or a prospective girlfriend. At least, not sincerely. She begrudgingly trudged her way through the whole number, getting the steps technically correct but having none of the feeling that made a dance a truly good one.

Never mind that he was charming when it came down to it. With an offered hand, he swept the twin out onto the dance floor and dance. He may have, in fact, put a little spark into the dance with a little magic. "Thank you," he said with a charming smile and glowing eyes, "for the dance."

algernon mercer || 25/25 || sprightly man about court On the heels of his husband, Alg swept the twin up into another dance. It became obvious that the Professor was an entertaining and well moved as his husband. Much like his story to the Artist, Alg was engaging with conversation and at least when the dance finally came to a stop, he knew his partner hadn't had a bad time.

Chris Watts || 25/25 || Still Trying his best
Maybe it was finally the night getting to him, but no matter what he tried Chris couldn't dance as well as he had or with as much enthusiasm as before. He couldn't even tell who he was dancing with, just that they were much better than him and that he felt bad for even being this poor.
At the end of the dance, Chris slipped away. He knew he wasn't going to get anything.

Thorne attempted very hard to make the dance worthwhile. He wasn't by any means a poor partner when his heart was in it - but his heart just wasn't in it. By the time it came to a close, he was gone again after a flurry of apologetic words, each of them less convincing than the last.
Goddamn, he should have just stayed inside.
