His uncle hadn't come again today. Frowning, Uzumati simply crossed his arms as he stared out over the lands from his hiding spot under a tall tree. Was he supposed to truly go out into that village to get to the old man? While the more recent visits had proven to give the wild boy more of a civilized -if one could call not growling left and right that- approach to the visits. He still had yet to talk and it was unknown even if he could form words.
He did, however, understand the language that his uncle spewed out quickly each visit. It wasn't like the memories were completely gone - they were just foggy. Every time the blacksmith came through Uzumati found a piece of himself returning, but it was still hard to want to leave the forest. This place had been his home for so many years and the memories he had here were stronger than those from his earlier days. But his uncle was living while everything else...was dead. Save for the creatures and trees who kept him company here of course, but it wasn't the same.
Such thoughts prompted the boy to venture a few feet out from the trees before turning back to walk under their shadows once more. Then a few more moments of contemplation would lead to the same results as he walked out and then stopped to sniff the air before turning back once more. He truly didn't know if this was possible...after all what was even out there other than his uncle and the flower from before?

The day was hot and long, and Klaas had separated from Dem, who went on home, he supposed. The Oban looked lost and a little overwhelmed, but mostly he looked tired. He had been walking and wandering since this morning. He didn't know where he was, but he saw a large, tall tree up ahead and honestly it looked like a nice, inviting, shady spot to take a mid-day nap. The sweat soaked masked Oban walked towards it, his footsteps heavy and almost dragging. His muscles ached. The pack he was carrying was really heavy, full of supplies for the road while he tried to figure out his own life. So far, he didn't see anyone near, or around the tree, at least from this angle. "Gods above," he muttered to himself as he approached quicker. "I am so tired."

Uzumati had nearly been about to walk away from the trees once more when a scent caught his attention. Sniffing the air the male paused briefly before quickly darting backwards under the shadows of the giant trees. Who was out here? Tilting his head he studied the rather weary boy as he trudged towards his very tree. Was he sick or tired? And what was that strange thing on his face?
Uzu frowned as he crouched down to hide behind a trunk and continued to study the stranger. He also had a pack which interested the boy...not as a thief but simply someone curious about what the bag could possibly hold. Still, he was stuck until the stranger left as leaving his perch would reveal him easily so Uzumati settled in for the long haul. He would have to wait this out and see what the boy did...if he approached Uzu was prepared to either fight or flee.
Obviously he was leaning towards the later since fighting beasts interested him far more than fighting another earthling...especially when he had no idea what the stranger could do to him. Of course at the same time Uzu happened to be leaning backwards right into a thorn bush which caused a quiet 'yelp' to leave his mouth. Growling at his own stupidity, Uzu tried to lay against the ground and bit his bottom lip to keep from yelling about the sharp thorns which brushed against him as he tried his hardest to hide in the darkness of the forest...

Klaas took a deep breath and as he came toward the tree, starting to circle. He didn't know if he wanted to sleep in the roots or climb it and get on a limb. Glancing up it looked like they were thick enough to support his weight. There were a lot of beasts that could make an easy meal out of him. "Climbing it is," he muttered. Shifting the pack to rest against his backside, he moved to try to get a footing in the large tree. However, it wasn't as easy as he thought it was going to be. Half way to a limb, Klaas's foot slipped and he ended up falling down on his back, hitting his head on the ground. Luckily it wasn't enough to crack his skull, but unluckily enough.. He cried out as white sparks crossed his vision and he just laid there, in pain. "'m the greatest," he said, raising a fist in the air and then letting it flop on the ground.

What was the strange earthling doing? Was there something up in the tree that he wanted? A vantage point perhaps? Uzumati crinkled his nose. Not like it was his business. He just wished the guy would leave his woods already. Digging his fingers into the dirt in irritation at having to be stuck in such an uncomfortable position, Uzumati was more focused on his own escape so the sounds of a fall did surprise him.
Oh.
So the earth boy had fallen? Frowning, Uzumati slowly crawled forward. Was it dead? Sniffing the air for any signs of others - the boy uttered a soft grunt of frustration. If it wasn't dead then it may be injured and without anyone else nearby...could he just leave him? Glancing up towards the skies in protest Uzu finally moved forward and slowly circled around the fallen earthling. The first pump towards the sky, of course, caught him by surprise and the boy jumped just a bit before sniffing the air again. What was that? Some sort of death twitch? Sighing, Uzu finally got the gall to move right up next to the boy so that he could study him closer. He seemed to be breathing...that was something he could tell as he leaned less than a breath from the other boy's face.

All the while the other was approaching, Klaas listened to him move around. Rustling of leaves, foot steps (He thought they were footsteps anyway) and just laid perfectly still. There was some sniffing right next to his face, which made the Oban roll to the side and get to his feet, getting into a defensive position. Well, he would have if he hadn't have tweaked his back in the process of falling out of the tree. He cried out, clutched his back, and let out a hard whine as he melted back into the forest floor, smearing dirt and grass on pale clothing, his mask starting to dislodge from this. "Well, I'm dead," he muttered to himself, thinking whatever it was that had approached him would end up eating him alive.

What was up with this earthling? Uzumati let out a yelp of surprise as the boy not only moved, but also fell again. So he was injured then? If he was dying then he definitely had a few good twitches left in him. Uzu sniffed the air one last time before moving forward once more. Even that strange face of his was starting to move after all that flailing about... What did he do? Sighing, the boy took a sudden few steps back and after a few moments returned - but this time with a crude bucket made from an old log. Having filled it with some nearby water, Uzu gently dipped a sturdy leaf into the water before moving the leaf -now with water cupped inside- towards the stranger's lips. Would that help him maybe?

The person who was sniffing him still was watching him. Eyeing the way Klaas was moving and that was making Klaas very nervous. However, instead of attacking, the other got him a leaf full of water. When it came near his lips, Klaas tipped his head and drank from the leaf easily enough. Not the first time he'd been given water like this. It seemed fairly popular when you had a fever when travelling. "...Thanks," he said after swallowing the water, shivering and wallowing a bit. "...Uh. ..Are you going to attack me? I'm not in the best way now. Tweaked my back. So if you did want to attack, you'd be attacking a defenseless person and where's the fun in that?"

Good the earthling could drink water. At the comments Uzumati just tilted his head slowly. He knew much of the language, but it still took a while to register some things. Attack? Uzumati just snorted before shaking his head. He wouldn't attack someone who was already so weak. It wasn't like the boy was planning on overtaking his territory either. So instead Uzu just looked around before darting off once more. This time when he returned he had some strange looking leaves that he tore and held out towards the other earthling. They were bitter, but even he had needed them when his face was so flushed before. It would hopefully help this stranger as well.

Klaas squinted a little when the other shook his head. "No? Good. Because... Well you know. You heard... and.. uhm.. Probably saw.." Shoot. Now that he thought about it he embarrassed himself. Klaas's thick lips pulled to a frown and he just slowly, slowly tried to move, but it seemed his back once more screamed. By the time the wild child came back, Klaas was settling into his fate as being a bump on a log. Not literally. Though there was a log next to him, but still. Leaves were put near his lips and he opened his mouth. He wasn't attacking, and he figured the other wasn't going to end up poisoning him. The leaves in his mouth that were chewed were completely bitter. It made Klaas's face contort and he nearly spat them out. "What is this?"

Despite his pain it seemed this other earthling enjoyed talking. Uzu frowned slightly before turning his back again to work with the water. Would helping him get him out of his woods quicker? Now that was an idea. The wild boy almost smiled before blinking at the question over the herbs.
Frowning, Uzumati held up a finger before disappearing once more. This time though the earthling came back to show the stranger the tiny plant that he had taken the leaves from. It was whole with the roots dangling from his fingers with some loose dirt. Uzu made a face like he was in pain before pointing to the herbs with what appeared to be a relieved nod. Good for healing and pain. He just hoped the stranger would take more of it - as he dropped the plant into Klaas's lap before reaching for the water once more.

Klaas blinked when the other didn't seem to answer his question and just squinted at him. What an odd little boy. The Fire Prentice just laid there and slowly, slowly worked his way to his side, where he could watch the other come back and forth more easily. By the time the other came back, Klaas blinked at the leaves that were dangling from his fingers. "...Am I supposed to eat that?" With a resigned sigh, Klaas held out his hand and wiggled his fingers. "Okay, okay. Give... that to me, I guess." And then the plant was dropped in his lap and Klaas pouted as he picked it up and started to pick the leaves off the plant. They were bitter as well, but the actually recognized the taste. This was childhood all over. He made a face and just chewed at it while the other fetched him water. "How'd you know about this plant?"

Uzumati made a face at the strange. Obviously he should eat it. If he was sick then the herb was good for helping to numb pain and heal. Not that the mute earthling would say such a thing out loud, rather he just simply gave a nod at the question. The question made him pause. Did others not know about those plants? Then again only the hermit had taught him such things while he was growing up. Uzumati's forehead creased at the thought before he shook his head at the bad memories. Still, he had to address the stranger's question somehow. Thoughtfully he paused before lifting an arm to show off some scars. Plucking a leaf he held it up against his arm as if to show that he had needed the plant many times as well while growing up in the forest. But honestly being so close to the stranger made Uzumati want to poke at the strange thing covering his face. Why was that there? Did it protect him somehow or scare away others? At first it had scared Uzu to look at it, but now he was just more curious about the strange thing.

Klaas just continued to chew the leaves and took the water when it was offered. He drank it down and just nodded at the way he was being shown the scars. Slowly, Klaas lifted one side of his mask, showing off the horrible looking burn scar there and then shrugged. "Guess we're more alike than I thought, eh, Wild Child?" He asked, grinning quite larger. The plant was already setting in, slowly starting to ebb away the pain from his tweaked muscle in his back. "I'll be outta your hair in a bit."

Uzumati tilted his head before his gaze widened at the sight of the burn scar. Involuntarily his back shuddered - but it was more from the memory of fire than the actual look of the skin. He actually took a step backwards as the scattered memories flashed through his head - flames and screaming then nothingness. No home, no family...Uzu shook his head in protest. He had to stop that! This was why he didn't enjoy others coming into his territory. Was it too much to just ask for his solitude? Still, as if regretting his instant rejection the earthling scooted forward again and raised a hesitant hand towards Klaas's face. Did...did it still hurt? He glanced towards the boy with a concerned frown. Was it like the spot on his side that occasionally would ache from the memory of fire? So many questions, but all that came out was a faint humming sound from his throat.
