Sitting under the great skull of an ancient elephant Duhushi reflected on his day. His normally clean purple fur was coated in mud from the other cubs teasing. He shivered in anger as he licked his large paws. It wasn't his fault that he was purple but apparently it was a perfectly fine to pick on him because of the color.

One day he would show them all but he just had to bide his time and wait for the opportune moment to strike. Hearing the loud calls of vultures he hide deeper into the shadows. He wasn't afraid of the vultures but he would rather not be eaten so soon in his life. The small cub continued his almost compulsive cleaning and hoped that he would get all the mud before his father returned.

Since his mother had left he had been mercilessly taunted by the others and it was slowly driving him out of his mind. Another cry reached his ears but it sounded more like a hyena rather than vulture. He pressed himself against the whiteness of the skull. Hyenas were a much larger problem than vultures and with his mother gone and his father off with Dhamisa there weren't any others that would hear his cries before it was too late. When the danger was seemingly gone Duhushi crawlled out from within the skull and perched upon one of it's great tusks to survey his home.

{{Yaay I am here. n.n *cuddles Duhushi* poor liddle purple baybe heart }}

Prowling nearby was a very hyena-like form. She was, in fact, a lion cub, but her markings and gaunt build added to the illusion that she was one of the canine scavengers. She scrabbled across a particularly large thighbone and fell down the other side with an rather loud yelp. Hearing it echo, she flattened herself to the ground anxiously. This land was quite a bit scarier than near the waterhole where she usually prowled. It crossed her mind that she may have explored too far.. She shivered and stood slowly to look for some place to hide.

((Yeah. My poor baby is the wierdest looking one from Tuzwa's litter considering the other 2))

Duhushi smelled a familiar and yet awkward scent. The cub watched as a female fell over a thighbone. A loud laugh sounded over the graveyard when he swa her fall. He hadn't to laugh so loudly but he never witnessed the misfortune of others considering that it was normally him that was being hassled. Mtafutaj'duhushi strolled across the tusk and stalked slowly to the other cub chuckling as he walked. "That was quite a nasty spill my dear..." Nearly lost for breath from laughing he hopped from the bones to the ground with only a prowess that a graveyard lion would know. "You aren't hurt are ya?"

Pulling herself upright and glowering at Duhushi, the hyena-like cub tried to regain some amount of dignity, licking a forepaw. "I'm fine, thank you," she replied coldly, watching the other cub to see if he bought her act. "Just exploring, you know, on my own." She swished her tail in a manner she hoped looked grown-up and stylish. "What are YOU doing around here?"

Duhushi laughed at her last chance at dignity. He cocked his brow and began to slowly pranced around her. "Well atleast youre alright." More for the pride maybe... The cub shook his head and hopped on the point of one of the large tusks around them. "I happen to be one of the unspoken princes of the graveyard which means that you're in my territory." Duhushi smirked and slid down the slight incline to rest in the deep arch of the tusk. "What might a lion of your...markings be doing here?" A lion with the markings of a hyena was absurd or atleast he thought.

Seeing as the purple cub wasn't about to buy her dignified act, Amleth relaxed her posture slightly. She watched him as he strolled about, extolling his title and so on. Her ears flopped back a little bit. Just her luck, meeting a ..prince... she'd have to slip away. While this one cub might put up with her, she knew that adult lions would be much less tolerant. "My apologies.." She drawled, arching a brow. "Didn't know it was yours. I'm just wandering.." She replied in response to his question. She was quite nervous now, but she hid it. He had remarked on her markings... she should get out of there, and fast...

Duhushi couldn't believe that this was actually working. He had actually pulled it off. I'm more like my dad than I first believed. His tail raised he sharpened his claws on he smooth white tusk. "Don't worry. You aren't intruding since you're a cub." His eyes darted to her once again. "No one's gonna hurt you just because of your markings." Thinking that it had been long enough he decided to ask. "What's your name? You atleast owe me that for coming here uninvited." Slidding from the bones he strolled closer to her his tail held high.

Amleth watched him carefully. He seemed nice enough, though she could tell some of the puffed-up ego was an act. Still, he said they wouldn't hurt her... "They won't?" She asked warily. "Are you sure?" Slipping closer, she changed her expression to one of cautious interest. "I'm Amleth. Who're you?" Her voice had slipped into a little more of a friendly tone, and her posture looked less tense.

Duhushi laughed at her words. "I'm sure they won't. Mama wouldn't allow them to hurt you." His facade fell a bit at her tone. "My name is Mtafutaj'duhushi but please call me Duhushi. The whole name is kinda of a mouth full. Mother doesn't even say it all." He smiled even though a bit of his ego was still resting in his mind. Her looked her over once again and realized the plight she was in. "I hope you'll stay away from those hyenas. With your pelt they'd probably kill you on sight."

"Well... if you're sure..." Amleth responded hesitantly. "Is she in charge, then?" She grinned and let out a short bark of laughter at the string of syllables he called a 'name'. "Duhushi is much better," she nodded agreeably, then paused to mull over what he said about hyenas. Her ears drooped slightly and she looked back up at him/ "Would they really..? I.. just because of how I look? I had hoped maybe they'd.. I dunno.." She trailed off and sat down with a soft thud, looking dismayed.

Duhushi laughed. "Don't worry. I'm not too fond of my name either but my mother isn't in charge. She's not even part of the pride really." He didn't know why he was conversing with her but he had to say something. "They wouldn't want their pelt on a lion. They'd probably say that it was disgraceful to their kind but hyenas disgrace themselves enough already. Help isn't needed for thoise dogs." Stepping closer he sighed. "Not to worry Amleth, those hyenas won't get you."

Amleth listened quietly to Duhushi's reasons for why the hyenas would dislike her, gaze fixed slightly unnervingly on his face. When he was done she sighed. "I didn't know they were so bad.." She looked up and grinned nervously as he stepped forward. "Thanks.. uh. I'm kind of.. do you know somewhere where I can sleep for the night? It's really far back to the watering hole.." she said the last bit rather quickly, as if ashamed to be asking the other cub for his help.

Duhushi nodded and continued. "Hyenas are horrible creatures. They've tried to kill me just because of my father." The small cub gathered up his courage and sat beside her. "Don't mess with hyenas unless you wanna get eaten." Tail swishing behind him he smiled. "I guess you can stay here. I'm sure that the queen won't mind considering that she's always trying to get others to join. You're welcome here for awhile if you'd like."

The hyena-marked cub's eyes widened at Duhushi's proclaimation. Her ears flattened to her skull. "Oh.. no wonder they made me leave.." she looked momentarily surprised as he sat down by her, then attempted a small smile. "Really? I mean, only for tonight." She added hastily, still trying to uphold her 'independant' air. "Then tomorrow I can go back to my home." Amleth's statement was roughly interrupted by the gurgling of her stomach. She looked embarrassed. "Er... sorry.. just had fish today.."

Duhushi sighed and shook his head. "Hyena's are vicious but my pride will protect you for as long as you're here I guess." He thought about if she had a run in with his sisters. Would they all push me in the mud?... His thoughts were interrupted by a rumble. "It's perfectly fine. I haven't eaten since this morning. Because of my pelt my sisters won't let me eat first. My mother has to keep food for me but she's gone now..."
