Synopsis

In place of a world that had once been ravaged by the fires of an unstoppable alien god, now stood an Earth that was relatively untouched. The date was August 27,2016, several months before Darkseid's invasion had taken place.Everything seemed to be as it once was, thanks to the hero known as Flash. As his reality was on the verge of being destroyed, the Scarlet Speedster had used his incredible speed, tapping into the very foundation of the speed force, of time itself to delve back into the past to find a way to prevent the coming destruction. All seemed to be well. Unknown to the Flash however, fate has a a way of correcting itself....

Place: Metropolis Sewer Systems. Mid-Day

Metallic hands dragged across the surface of the large metal pylon. With a sudden twist, the metallic device started to twist and expand, glowing a dark blue and letting out a faint hum. The skull faced drone watched as the column began to take up more and more space within the sewer tunnel, expanding slowly. It's lens recorded everything, sending a signal to it's fellow drones that were similarly spread through out the city of Metropolis. It's companions were carrying out similar task, setting up pylons in a scheme that would soon reveal itself to the world above.

For now the drone waited , standing by until it's companions completed their task. Occasionally a coded pulse would chime inside of it's skull, alerting it that another Pylon had been set in place. Once all twelve were in place, the machine would send a coded signal to it's master and creator who waited patiently within the outer atmosphere, ready to exact it's plan upon the planet.

Man Of Steel Superman
In the thriving city of Metropolis, it's a beautiful day. High up watching over all of them is their protector, their champion, Superman. He lowers down allowing kids and adults alike to catch a quick glimpse when his wandering eye notices something. A red figure with yellow lightning appears in a well...Flash. Superman's expression loosens up and a smile surfaces. Lowering down, he hovers to greet his fellow League'r. "Flash. Quite a surprise. What brings you to Metropolis?" Superman says floating above him with his arms folded. The sun's bright rays give off a great look at the Man of Steel as people begin to crowd around seeing these two heroes casually meet here in the busy day life.

He stood in place for a second, still shocked on what he had done in a blink of an eye. Before he could think anymore on it, Superman hovered above him. As he watched him for a minute, this was the first time in a long time he had seen his friend in good health. He knew he was given a second chance to prevent Superman from getting sick, he was the key. Seconds later he heard him speak. ”Flash. Quite a surprise. What brings you to Metropolis?” Realizing that Superman didn’t know he was from a different timeline, he had to act as normal as he could. With people slowly beginning to crowd the two he had to think fast on what he had to say. Not wanting Superman to catch on to who he actually was.

User Image

Finally figuring out what to say to Superman without him figuring out that he was not from here, he said as casually as he could.”Not too much, just me being me. Wanted to check up on my teammates. Also, I heard that Metropolis is beautiful this time of year.””Just me being me? Why would I ever say that?” It was already too late to take that back. He slowly turned his head to look over at the crowd; everyone was so happy and hopeful. Something that he hadn't seen in a long time. Before Superman could say anything, Barry waved at the crowd with a big smile on his face. It was so refreshing to see everything in one piece. As soon he was done giving the crowd his attention, quickly looking down to see he was still in his "Armageddon" suit then looking back up to give Superman his attention. Hopefully he wouldn't be questioned about it.

Superman surveys Flash noticing slight change in certain mannerisms but he figures it's just Barry being Barry. A smile continues to show on his face as more and more people crowd to take pictures of the heroes. Two members of the Justice League in broad daylight was unheard of. "It seems we've made quite the crowd gather here today. If we intend to continue conversation, I'd suggest a different venue." Superman says, as he begins to float up some. He gives a farewell to the crowd as they do the same, talking to Flash while he runs alongside Superman flying. "What brought on the outfit change?" he asks, making general conversation while truly being curious over the armored rendition suit Flash dawned.

High above the planet earth, a large satellite installation hovered in it's atmosphere. It was a technological marvel that came shortly after the unification of the seven individuals who stopped the world threatening alien parasite Starro from enslaving their home. Funded behind closed doors by Bruce Wayne and built with careful thought and planning from the other members, it was to serve a purpose as a beacon of hope; a first response to any otherworldly activity. It housed several in-house aircrafts known as Javelins that were capable of traveling through the depths of space along with a prototype functioning teleporter from earth to the Watchtower. Other rooms included the The Hall of Justice, the Promenade, Monitor Womb, Trophy Room, Armory, Hydroponics, Aquarium, and an array of private settling areas.

Inside a small room filled with monitors and a main outlook towards earth, seven seats were laid out along a round circular table available for the original seven (and or those who are replaced). Batman on the other hand was at the very front, looking up into one of the many monitors as he scanned through footage and information that streamed across the feed. Those present for the battle against the super adaptable creation of Professor Ivo's Amazo could share their memory of the over abundance of property damage that riddled parts of Midway City. It wasn't the League's final battle but the worst of it was over and Ivo's android was dismantled. "That was one of many attacks across the United States in the last three months. Rogue meta-human activity has been at an all time high and we still don't know why," He'd step back from the monitor, closing out what little was left to be discovered on the situation as he turned towards the other Justice League members present within the room.

Aside from the man in the bat suit sat none other than the woman of wonder. Diana had been called up for a few months to the spacial Watch Tower as she would strengthen the group in numbers and her own abilities, but all in all it was to protect the mass population the resided on the planet.
She began to speak soon after Bruce. "It would seem it was an allied force against us, but...the attacks are too scattered to pin point the reason behind that sudden outburst of attack. Placing her elbow on the long and sturdy desk infront of her, Diana began pondering plausibilities as the the root cause of the random destruction.
A message? To whom? Why? These questions were among the hundreds that they were all wondering. The Amazon soon enough leaned back on the seat and placed both elbows on the chair's arm rests--only this time, her right hand served as a post for her chin.

Swiveling back and forth in his specific chair sat the Green Lantern Hal Jordan. He was one of the first to respond to the crisis in Midway City and was one of the first to make an attempt at apprehending Amazo. The brighter idea would have been to wait and hold the android off for the others to show up so it would make for a smooth defeat but knowing Hal and his abundance of over confidence, he went in guns blazing (literally) and was promptly shut down in response. "With the strength of Superman and the speed of Flash, let me tell you I hope the next one reconsiders showing off their cool new power or new invention. We need rest too, you know." He sucked in a deep breath as he could feel the tension in his arm arise from a near crushing blow he received during the fight. "An allied force? What do you mean like an 'Injustice League'," Hal paused as he turned his chair towards the amazon before letting out a brief chuckle at the idea of it all.

"I'd hope that the bad guys would be smart enough not to go down that route, but then again that's probably asking a lot from them. Besides, Ivo's just some crazy kook who stowed away in his lab, who's honestly gonna miss him?" Hal seemed rather disinterested in providing serious input on the matter and it showed while he leaned in his chair, rocking to his left and right.

He was hoping that he wouldn’t be questioned by the outfit he wore so soon. Thinking of something that didn’t seem like a complete lie, he spoke while he ran alongside Superman. ”Just wanted to test out a new suit to make sure that it could keep up with me. You know?” Hopefully that was a good enough reason for Clark to believe him. As they moved to a location where they wouldn’t be crowded by civilians, he asked. ”Where are we headed?” At this very second he knew he was interfering with the timeline just by talking to Superman, with that thought in mind he wondered where his past self was at.

A blip appeared along the scanners and radars of the neighboring satellites that hovered thousands upon thousands of feet in the atmosphere. The Justice league's Watch Tower included. It was small at first but along all devices, it appeared to grow in size taking up the screens to reveal a vessel that was hundreds of feet in length, width and height. Whatever it was now descending down through the atmosphere, towards the city of Tomorrow, Metropolis.

Upon closer inspection through whatever means was possible, the vessel had a shape and appearance that was similar to that of a skull, several large metallic legs jutting from it's sides. The dome of the vessel was glowing a sickly green that pulsated now and again. It's tendril like legs slunk about from side to side. Only a scant few individuals would recognize the design of the ship as well as it's owner. An old foe of the Man of Steel himself. The Collector of worlds. Brainiac.

What happened next could only be described as monumental. From beneath the hull of ancient vessel, a large metallic cylinder was launched outwards. Well over two dozen ports could be seen all over the device as it spiraled downwards towards the golden city. It shot down like a missile, coming to a sudden halt just over two hundred feet of the tallest building in Metropolis.

With a simple command pulse from Brainiac himself the drones that had scattered themselves through out the sewers of Metropolis completed their final task. Each and every single one of them, pressed the same panel along the identical pylons that had been emplaced in a perfect circle around the city. Suddenly dozens of great columns of energy shot out from the pylons, explosively blasting through the concrete streets, obliterating anything caught within the blast radius. Dozens of columns of pure light energy spearing into the air in a violent spiral, hundreds of feet tall. The columns started to curve inwards towards the city, the ends of them starting all connecting to the ports of the cylinder that hovered over the city. Slowly and in perfect unison, they each connected and afterwards the the columns started to stretch outwards, creating a series of walls that all connected. Once the process was complete, a vast dome had encompassed the city of Metropolis. A dome of pure energy that could be seen for miles in every direction, even from the outer atmosphere. Metropolis was ready to be harvested.

Just as he was about to answer Barry's question, something else arose on the skyline. With his enhanced vision, Superman halted mid-flight and looked on to make out what had just appeared. And why did it set out to land on Metropolis. Immediately he assumed position of flight swinging his arms forward for a better release. When he grew closer he could see remnants of what seemed to be a skull, several large metallic legs jutting from it's sides. It had a unnatural emerald glow—all which told Clark whatever it is—it wasn't good. And his hypothesis would be proven to be right as the crest was none other than Brainac's...

From a cheerful mood to a very serious one now, Superman sought out answers. But before he could near it any closer the ship began to engage shooting a missile headed straight for his beloved city. A look of panic wore on Superman's face as he dashed below to try and prevent the missile from doing any damage to the humans. But he was too late....the impact created a large explosion and Superman couldn't help but blame himself. Floating there just above the destruction, eyes closed, mourning those who were obviously incinerated on impact. He reopened his eyes now a fiery bright red glow burning from his eye sockets looking at Brainac's ship.

But down below he heard people crying out for help. At first he thought it was because of the unfortunate event that just took place but as he gave a more detailed look, he'd see several drones crawling from god knows where. There were dozens of them all taking their positions to complete whatever Brainac was attempting. His eyes searched aimlessly for something to hit but as he watched he'd seen now that the entire city itself was completely isolated and made a dome which stretched for miles on end.

How could this happen? And all so quickly...from just having a conversation with Barry....to this....Superman hovered there letting it all sink in. His city which he loved so much...taken over...he looked up glaring at the main ship which started this all. Ascending high until he arrived he hovered in front of the ship.
"BRANIAC STOP THIS! THOSE PEOPLE ARE INNOCENT! THIS IS BETWEEN YOU AND ME!" Superman practically begged.

Hal Jordan's unfortunate lack of skill to take a situation even remotely serious was the reason Batman often dreaded these much needed recaps of why the world was still facing these ever so prominent and frequent threats. Past his glowing white eyes, he glared down at the Green Lantern, most who were willing to joke with the vigilante called it the 'Bat-Glare'. A name he didn't find all too amusing. "That crazy k-," A familiar ominous alarm began to ring the ears of the heroes present. Several monitors displayed the automated warning system whenever a non-earth specific and or non League registered spacecrafts/persons entered the atmosphere. Batman said nothing as he approached the monitor closest to him, his eyes narrowing and squinting to make sense of the object in question.

It started off small, soon growing in size as it moved forward past the Watchtower and menacingly descending to earth. Batman's head spun in the direction of another monitor, specifically put to locate Justice League members wherever they may be to have them called upon. A firm finger pressed against a button along the keyboard. "Batman to Superman, you've got incoming. It's Brainiac." His words were short and too the point, the fellow hero knew all too well that the mention of his name was enough to be instinctively on high-alert. A villain from Superman's past, one the League had the unfortunate displeasure of tangling with themselves, was now on the doorstep of humanity and they had no idea, probably until it was too late. Flash and Cyborg didn't seem to be too far off but sure enough, they would get the alert to assist at the ready.

"We need to get down there, he's going to need the help." There was only so much the Kryptonian was capable of and when threats like this surfaced, it required that of a team effort, the number one reason why The Justice League was formed; to fight the battles that none of them could necessarily do alone. Stepping away from the meeting area, Batman put himself in front of a large machine with a circular pad, multiple smaller circles encompassed the inner area of the contraption. This was of course the Watchtower teleporter. "What's the status of the situation down there?" He could the sound of destruction and terror over the shared communication line, that was all he really needed for an answer. What was Brainiac doing down there? With the motion of his hand, he directed Wonder Woman and Green Lantern onto the pad before stepping on himself, having inputted the coordinates for Metropolis. The machine began to quietly hum as it started up, a bright yellow light shined around the three of them, sending them from the Watchtower down hundreds of miles towards The City of Tomorrow on earth.

The yellow light faded, leaving nothing but the thick clouds of smoke in sight before them ontop of a high rise building. Through the gray, Batman could easily spot the ever so obvious dome no doubt formed by Brainiac. "Brainiac's harvester tech, he was already here.." He'd say with grimace as he further scanned the surrounding area until his gaze stopped at Superman directly in front of Brainiac's skull-like ship. "He can't find Brainiac and keep the people safe. We'll have to get the civilians out of the crossfire and see what we can do about Brainiac's dome." With the suggested directions up in the air for the other two to take in, Batman stepped to the ledge of the building they stood upon, diving head first with his grappling hook in hand.

It seemed as though it was a mere blink of an eye that things began to go from possible analysis of an attack to the actual front of battle. Diana accompanied both Hal and Bruce, but she herself wasn't at all surprised by the surprised attack on Brainiac's behalf.
It was't the sort of 'month' break that the supers ever got. They had to take down a rival or at most incarcerate them in order to retrieve plausible answers. A rather interesting and foreseen process that took place after they defeated the foe, whomever it may be.
Sure enough, the Amazonian new the man of steel could handle himself, but when matters came down to it--he would need help and as for the team, Bruce was in right to unite them to form an alliance among the powered people to bring justice to the innocent.
User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.
She spoke soon after Bruce with a nod. "I'll be taking the west side of the city, as most as I can---and probably the north."
It would be seconds or minutes later that Diana had flown into the western most side of Metropolis. There hovering, pedestrians and people in their cars would take a brief first look, but the Amazonian took no second chance as she gestured and spoke to the people to clear the city. She'd be in different streets every three to four minutes shouting to the people below to exit as smoothly as they could. It wasn't every day that the Princess of Themyscira came down to the city of Tomorrow, but if it meant saving those who needed her help, she made nothing against it.
Aside from the sight of the warrior, the sky had a massive aircraft that was likely to have a memory in those sum of people who had probably seen Brainiac and the Man of Steel fight previously--or not.
Her hearing much enhanced, could hear the Kryptonian even from the mere chance of stepping into and being transported to his city. "Is her honestly going to sacrifice himself? Do we have any further details as to why the inflamed head is here?" It wasn't like Diana to blurt out a crack at the villain, but if it made the mood slightly more settling, she took a jab at it.
Now position her lasso in her hands, her sword stood mounted on her back with the shield she had always treasured, the Amazon was prepared for almost anything.

Just like that, the Justice League was allowed no breaks in the world of heroism. Hal just wished it wasn't so soon after another attack. Really, though. Who could it have been this time? With their own eyes, four members of the Justice League were staying up at a large extraterrestrial craft operated by none other than Brainiac himself. It was hard to comprehend how everything shifted so fast for Metropolis. One minute people would have been carrying out their business like any other typical day and now there was a wide dome surrounding a large section of the city. No funny business here and no back talk needed, Hal knew exactly what needed to be done. "Got it covered." Confirmed Hal as he rose from the rooftop, the bright emerald green light illuminating his body as he flew off in the direction of several shrieks of terror. Within view, he spotted a group of people falling from a high rise building, the base of the structure a victim to the dome requiring the space needed to stay up.

"Just my luck," Said Hal with the shake of his head. He'd thrust his arm forward, a bright green baseball mitt construct engulfing the space underneath the falling civilians. They would then seamlessly fall directly into the mitt, allowing Hal to transport them to a much safer location. "Get as far away from here as possible, you hear me!" He yelled over the rumbling building, trying to add a bit of authority in his voice as the people scurried off in the distance. Back into the air he went, another construct flew from his ring, this time in the form of a large car jack to support the uneven side of the building. Raising part of the false contraption, he was able to move it back to stability, sealing the broken area with a thin beam of green energy. "I wouldn't be surprised if there's more where that came from. I hate to admit that I may not be able to get to them all but that thing really has us in a corner." Said Hal, nodding up to the Brainiac harvester ship as if anyone was around to see.

"Kryptonian."

Brainiac's voice boomed, emanating from every corner of the skull ship, spreading to every corner of the entrapped city for all of its inhabitants to hear. The skull ship continued to hover there, it's glowing emerald eyes seeming to glare at the hero that prostrated itself before it, begging for some form of mercy from the the true master within. The city beneath remained silent, waiting to see what would happen.

"I have long out grown the concept of vendettas." Brainiac stated. He personally did not care about the Kryptonian in any meaningful way. Nor did he hold any kind of grudge. To be honest, he was beyond nearly every kind of emotion, save for curiosity. Superman was nothing more than an annoying gnat that had impeded his quest for knowledge.

"Understand that this city that you have chosen to dwell is by far the most advanced of your adopted planet and therefore holds the most promise in terms of knowledge...." Two dozen panels along the sides of the ship started to slide open as Brainiac spoke. Metropolis, the city of tomorrow would make a perfect addition to his collection. It's diverse populace held within themselves the capability of advancing to the pinnacle of their race.

"What happens next is not personal."
With that eerie statement, dozens of pods started to fire outwards from Brainiac's ship. Jettisoning out from the panels that had opened previously. The pods shot out towards random directions all over the city, slamming into the ground with explosive destructive force. The pods afterwards started to burst apart, several drones emerging from each of them. The drones scanned their environment, observing the onlookers that had gathered around them. Pacification was always an important step any harvesting. Culling a third of the populace would suffice and any thoughts of resistance would be promptly crushed. With that in mind, the drones started to open fire on anyone that that they could, blast of violet energy emitting from hands and mouths.

As Brainiac finished up, the panels from before opened up yet again releasing more of Brainiac's weapons into the city. There were certainly far too many for Superman to destroy using his heat vision. And even if he did go by that course of action, he'd still miss the majority already crash landing into Metropolis. The situation grew in tenfold. Clark could all but stare, watch, as his beloved city descended into chaos courtesy of the emotionless mind that was Brainiac. There was nothing he could say to reason. His eyes began to glow that rich red glow again, deciding to take down this ship once and for good, before several civilians chimed in his ear screaming for help.

Instinctively, as their champion he turned his head looking downwards to the city. Hearing his comrades in his ear as well which gave him a minor relief to all of this. He'd speak to them saying,
"It's Brainiac. He's unleashed his robots onto the city. Green Lantern, if you're in the city then they're coming your way so be prepared. Wonder Woman, same goes for you. Be careful. I'll take care of Brainiac, myself, once and for all."

Looking back up at the ship itself, Superman frowns. "Brainac, this is your last warning. Call off your attack and surrender."

"Just keep running, Maria!" Called a worried father to his daughter.

She was no younger than fifteen, doing her best to get away from the destruction and commotion that now riddled the city. Her father was close behind motivating her to keep going forward and to never look back, no matter what. With all of the hustle they put in, one would think they would have made it to safety and out of sight. The tall framed drones appeared in front of the daughter and father, as if seemingly out of nowhere. Their violet eyes and glowing hands frightened the small family that weren't ready to die, not yet. Just as they were ready to fire, two sharp black projectiles flew through the sky, penetrating their metals arms with a satisfying buzz of electricity. Almost immediately after, Batman came crashing down on the ground delivering a series of quick blows back and forth between the two drones. The shape blades on his vambraces shredded through the drones like a hot knife to butter. In a few moments, the drones crumpled in a metal heap on the ground. He wouldn't wait to acquire the thanks for saving the two and kept on his way to dismantle more of Brainiac's forces.

"We need to break down as many of Brainiac's drones as we possibly can. They're blowing through the bystanders. Priority One: Keep them safe." He deduced taking down Brainiac, the source, would leave the drones in a defenseless and un-operable state. He was beginning to wonder what was taking Superman so long to start plowing through Brainiac's ship, nonetheless, that wasn't his fight. Batman would reach behind himself, taking another full set of batarangs, one gripped between each finger, and launching them towards a bigger group of drones. He came at them at a full sprint, jumping high into the air as he leaped into a front flip over the group but not before gripping hard along the shoulders of one of the drones, using the momentum to toss it forward. Moving forward, Batman pulled his cape up over his eyes as an explosion (from the batarangs) of orange and red filled the dimly lit Metropolis streets, blowing his cape back in a billowing fashion.
