Ahh, the rains left the lands with this cool, refreshing breeze and Gepardi welcomed it as he sat in the early morning light, a mist rolling over the land.
The seasons were starting their shift and change, it wasnt time for the heavy rainy season, but the cooler, slightly damper season was coming and it would be a nice relief after the rolling heat waves that had plagued the land that summer.
He glanced to the heavens as he thanked the god of prey for his luck that morning, he placed a heavy paw on the body of the older buck. He didnt kill foals, pregnant mothers or bucks that hadnt even spawned yet, many viewed his hunting ways oddly and disapproved, but he would rather take the harder hunt, than to kill away the herds into nothing.
Though he was starting to find himself with that twang, that need to share his days and nights with another, though he had never thought this sort of need would take hold of him.

She found that, with age, early mornings became more and more inviting. At first all the mornings looked the same. The light rose, things became more visible, and everything looked as it did before the sun had set the previous evening. As they came and went, though, Monifa found that she had more and more appreciation for each passing day. During times when she felt particularly self-deprecating she would joke that her appreciation came form the miracle that she was even experiencing a coming morning.
Her sister would have berated her for such thoughts, and perhaps Nathifa would have a point. She was doing quite well still--still capable of hunting and taking care of herself, not needing to find a partner or join a pride. Though, the more she thought about it, the more appealing either of those options felt.
The smell of blood shook Monifa out of her thoughts. It was a kill, and it was near. Very near. The lioness felt her muscles tense. Old bat, she berated herself, letting yourself get lost in your head. She realized the danger. A new kill meant a hunter nearby, and it could be awful dangerous to wander into a kill. The lioness lowered, hoping whatever creature nearby hadn't yet spotted her. Pale eyes scanned before...
Yes, there it was. A fallen buck and a lion above it. She watched him warily, not wanting to be the one to make the first move.

Now that the rush of the hunt had settled, his nose twitched, picking up another smell. Normally he would drag his breakfast off and dine alone, but today he felt like some company and this buck was more than enough to fill his belly, though he knew it wouldnt go to waste, he would rather readily share it than leave it to be picked at by lesser creatures.
"Hello?" He called out a bit cheerfully, he wasnt dangerous at the moment. He could hold his own for the most part, he wasnt as young as he used to be but he wasnt old yet either.
"I promise I mean you no harm." He said, the scent told him the other near by was female, but what species he didnt know and at the moment, wasnt concerned about.

The sound of the voice, the cheery tone it held, washed relief over her like a wave. She had no desire to deal with being hostile company, today more than most days. Muscles relaxed and her form stood up taller. The faintest of smile graced Monifa's mouth and the lioness moved forward to where she would be more visible in the morning light.
Yes, she noted, it was indeed a lion. And with a fresh kill, at that. Not that she was feeling particularly in need of a meal—there was no need to turn up the charm for a free breakfast. A breath escaped her, and the relief it held was thinly veiled.
"Good morning," she called as she moved closer, stopping her steps before she got close enough to be considered intrusive. "I apologize for interrupting your meal." Monifa motioned to the kill before looking the male in the eyes. The edge of her smile inched wider. "It seems I managed to wander in without paying much attention…"
