School had started, well, was starting soon, and that meant that Mercy would no longer be at her house. This posed a small issue as that she had been currently hosting Arthur, who now would no longer be able to hide in her room and enjoy the relative comforts of the Haynes household. That did not stop her however, from telling her parents that she was heading to her dorm early that day, to drop off a few things so that it would be ready for when she moved in later that night. Her parents didn't mind overly much, and she'd taken the walk in quiet contemplation.

Her plan had been simple enough, and the duffel bag that hung from her shoulder was mostly empty, save for the one feline passenger and a few towels and things she didn't mind getting covered in cat hair (They could and would be washed later). She had left the top of the duffel unzipped to allow her smuggled cargo to breath and, from time to time, stick his head out of the bag whenever she mentioned they were alone and it was safe for him to do so.

Once she successfully snuck him into her room, she gently placed the bag on her bed and unzipped it for him.

"It's not much, but I have no roommate so you're welcome to the other bed for now, I suppose." She said to Arthur with a small smile. "You'll need to hide if you hear anyone trying to come in though, since well... Cat's aren't technically allowed. Even if they are smart like you."

It was hard to keep in one place inside a duffel bag, and it felt uncomfortably warm. The towels provided some comfort, but he still shifted about whenever the bag was turned too much or when he tried to move. There was no place to grip his paws to get a firm hold and the cloth rubbed against his fur in unpleasant ways. With the air getting warmer and staler, he pressed his face against the zipper and looked out only to see he was not safe yet - not that he could know. He couldn't hear well some days and being inside a bag only made it worse which meant he popped up his head whenever he FELT he might have maybe heard something - which was a lot.

Once inside, he scrambled with more quickness and vigor than he usually displaced and made his way onto the bed, shaking his fur and working desperately to start licking his fur down.

"Fine. Fine. Yes. I'm just won't be hiding in that." His eyes sharply glared at the bag before he worked to lick some fur at his back.

"I don't see why it should even be a problem. Companions like myself are good for your health. I used to be praised plenty at the home. Therapy, they said. I'm therapeutic If anything I'd help a lady's studies." He grumbled as he leaned down to lick his puffed tail.

Mercy shook her head, pulling the towels out and draping them over the side of the small hamper near the foot of her bed. "Yes, well, you're also seen as a potential distraction and a possible risk for any maintenance people, so you'll need to keep a low profile for awhile." She said, nodding her head, before zipping the bag back up and shoving it under her bed before sitting down. "Not that you will be, but, the administration here is more focused on learning than anything else."

Though she wondered if she got him a service animal certificate if she could put in an exemption to have him stay... Maybe even attend classes with her... But she'd have to come up with some legitimate reason for it and while she could argue post traumatic stress... Well yeah no... She'd look into it anyway but she doubted it would fly.

Moving over to some of what she'd already started moving in, she walked over to her desk and sat down in front of her laptop, opening it up to boot it up so she could think for a minute.

"Arthur... Part of why I wanted you to come with me to school... is because I have a project for you..." She said, bringing up the we search she had been looking into for a bit. "I've been thinking about something a friend gave me... and I want your take on it."

The search was of course, various and sundry tactical flashlights.

"Isn't there ways to just tell them I'm necessary for your health?" He said, looking over as she started to set up her laptop. The dorm reminded him a lot of the room Elenaor had at te home, but their was less mumbling and sound of nurses talking.

"Hmmm? So you didn't just bring me for wonderful conversation?" He teased before hopping down and leaping up beside the laptop. He didn't stay there long before stepping into the keys and into her lap, turning about to see what she was doing.

"What sorta project? I don't think I'd do well in writing an essay." His eyes scanned the screen. He had started being a bit more comfortable around computers after Delilha started letting him use her's at her apartment and he occasionally went on Mercy's to check a few things. There was just so much to read and watch. Despite wanting to side with Elanor that technology wasn't worth it, he just felt naturally pulled to it.

"That's something I can look into... If I can get the right diagnosis but that's a bridge we'll cross if we have to. For now I'd like to avoid having to tell people that I have mental issues..." Mercy said with a sigh before scratching him behind the ears.

"Even if I probably do..." She mumbled to herself, but didn't dwell on it for very long before picking Arthur up gently to place him back on the desk and standing. Moving to her bed, she dug through the other bag she had brought over earlier and pulled out her Henshin pen, and powered up, reaching into her bolero after doing so and placing the Unicorn horn right next to Arthur before sitting back down as Sabine.

"I want to turn that into a flashlight..." She said with a slight set to her jaw. "And I want you to help me do it."

"Let me look into it. I'll talk to the other guardians and see what we can do." He said with a dismissive wave of his paw before he turned his head and purred at the gentle petting from the senshi. It ended too shortly as he was picked up, causing him to turn into dead weight out of spite, before he sat on the desk and hunch down into a cat loaf while he waited for her.

"Talking to cats doesn't make you insane." He called back as if that was the reason why she thought she might have mental problems.

The thud of the object caught him by surprise and he stood up, bristling as he looked over at the strange object. Whatever it was, he knew it wasn't normal, and he backed two steps before gently, quickly, tapping his paw up to touch it before jerking it away.

".....what....what is that?"

Sabine hadn't said anything in reply to Arthur as she had powered up, mainly because she was focusing on the issue at hand and not focusing on her post traumatic stress. The less she thought about her nightmares the less they seemed to come around so she'd been doing her best to deny that they existed most of the time.

Not to mention that she didn't want to admit that she had issues to herself or to others if she could help it. There was a stigma there, and she felt she needed to be strong. Or at least appear to be.

Arthur's reaction to the horn had her biting back a giggle but she shook her head. "It's safe, it's a Unicorn horn... Well... Okay, it's probably actually not a Unicorn horn, but Caedus gave it to me, and he said it came from a creature that looked like a horse with one horn so..." She shrugged a bit. "I want to do something with it besides carry it around like a paper weight... So I figured it could be a good lens for a flashlight, or torch or lantern or something... Something useful for me to use to direct people if needed. Or to send coded messages or something..." She said with a huff.

"I just want it to be useful and you were the first person I thought of who could maybe help me with the mechanical bits... You said you were interested in helping me out so..." She held her hands out in front of her. "I figured between the two of us we could make it work."

He settled beside it, intensely focused on the object as blue eyes narrowed in it. "Why did he give it to you? Did he give it to you for a reason?" He stood up and started to walk around it, tail flicking as he stopped to smell it and then resumed his circling.

"Why a flashlight? Can't you just buy a normal flashlight or do you want the light to be something more? Do you want a beacon to call others or something that flashes a message only out side can see? I do wonder - what a unicorn can do. It's not exactly a senshi item. Maybe not a Youma kind either." Most of all, he wanted it.

It was strange to have that feeling, but he knew it. He wanted this.

"I can try and help make it work if you have what you want in mind. Something lighter for you. Something more compact like your pen." He needed to talk to the other cats about item manipulation. Mechanics were ok but magic was something he would find online.

The horn was spiraled, about five inches in length. The tip had a smoothed, rounded edge. It is clear, but had some clouds of color inside, and if Sabine held it up to the moonlight, small specs inside would glisten. The button was a bit jagged and rough, but she figured this would not be hard to work around.

Sitting back down at her desk she opened up a folder she had on her desk, a small computer art program she had gotten on Delilah's suggestion. She had drawn some rough sketches of some ideas for the item she had in mind.

The schematic showed, attached to jagged bottom of the horn, a handle, also about five inches long. The handle had three selection switches and an intensity dial. It was a very rough sketch, but some small notes denoted questions as to the materials. (Gold? Brass? Black Matte Aluminum?) Of the two, gold seemed to have the most stars by it, brass a close second.

"I drew... kind of what is in my head..." She said with a small, almost shy smile. "I mean, I don't know much about mechanics but if you're willing to gvie this a shot with me... I would love it if you helped me make this a reality Arthur..."

She placed a hand to her chest and let out a sigh. "I want to do this... for Caedus... To show him that his gift had meaning to me and I was putting it to good use... But also to myself, so that I can live up to my role as the Senshi of Tactics... This light will be useful in tactical situations... it will let me signal if things are safe or not at a distance... Call for aid or warn others away..."

He sat in front of it, taking a paw to roll it but not too far. How durable was it? Could it be cut in segments like a lense or would the whole thing need funneled out? If so, he could either have the dust or the fragments.

"You want something that can adjust to a flashlight bit be cabanle to be a beacon. One that can respond to your magic. That is tricky. I never made anything that could connect a senshi's power that wasn't a pen." And even then he didn't know how it worked. Maybe he should figure out how.

"If have to figure out how a flashlight and beacon even works. We need to see how light and your energy passes through the horn. It can't be powered by batteries that's for sure." His tail flicked as he thought about it. "I can try but I have never done this." So if it failed, ten he hoped she didn't put it on him.

"Does it react to your magic any? Did Caedus say anything about it? You still haven't really said why he gave it to you. It's a strange thing to just have and give away."

"Honestly? If it even remotely just functions like a flashlight I will be happy," Sabine said with a bit of a sigh. "Responding to my magic or not is... a moot point really." She said with a small smile. "I just want it to serve some practical purpose other than looking pretty and I think between the two of us we just might be able to make it work."

She reached out a hand and ran the gloved fingers along the back of Arthur's head, right between his ears and just slightly above the space right between his eyes, her fingers rubbing and scratching the fur gently.

"I don't know if it reacts to my magic... Caedus gave it to me as a gift between friends..." She said softly. "Actually, he really didn't tell me why... I mean... I was talking about how much I love unicorns and then there it was, a real unicorn horn and he said I could have it..." Her cheeks flushed as she spoke.

"I suppose it might have been a bribe for my friendship but I doubt Sir Caedus had such ill intent."

He laughed at that. "I doubt a simple set of batteries is going to work on a beam and on something like that." He said, pawing at the horn. "I might not know much, but I think that's probably true.

"Well, are you worried you might break it if you do? Is it fragile?" He said, moving to better inspect it.

Sabine shook her head, and reaching past Arthur, she picked up the horn and tapped it lightly against the desk. "It seems pretty sturdy, but I haven't really gone out of my way to try and break it. It seems like it'll stand up to most things though."

Holding the horn, she sat back down, spinning it slowly in her gloved hands, watching Arthur as she did so. "Well, I suppose if normal batteries won't cut it, we'll have to find some other source of energy to power it. I'm sure there is something we can use."

Even if it had to feed off her own magic, she'd figure out a way to make it work, one way or the other. She wanted this badly, to prove that she could be useful in any situation, not just combat as a means to get people where they needed to go.

His head turned and turned as he watched the horn spin before he stopped, shaking the dizziness off. "Well, if we let you be the battery, then you using just the flashlight shouldn't really deplete you much. A beacon might affect you though if you want to make something that powerful. Brighter lights need more 'umph' behind them."

He moved over, moving under Sabine's arm to slide his back against his and purred, bored now with watching the horn and wanting a nice place to get comfortable.

"I'll look up flashlights and lenses. Get an idea.Try shooting some light through it and see how it goes." He said as he turned to rub his head against her elbow.

Placing the horn back down, Sabine was no fool, she knew when a cat was fishing. Her hand began to move slowly down Arthur's back, taking its time to pet him in slow strokes. Her fingers teased along his ear, before she finally released her power form, and relaxed again as Mercy.

"Thanks, Arthur, you're the best." She said, leaning her head down to kiss the cat on the top of his head. "It really means a lot to me."

With that, she sat there for a time, just petting him slowly. "I still got to go get the rest of my stuff you know... Want to get used to this room while I do that?"
