Since the start of the month he had come home from work - back to Abel's that was - more physically tired but also more mentally alive than he'd felt since getting his first soul destroying job at Meat Palace. What with all the training both for him and for his pokemon plus frequently travelling up to the northern centre or elsewhere around the island as required he hadn't had a whole lot of free time which had meant delaying a little project he'd been working on for a while now. He'd started off making a figurine of Sera's Absol right after he'd run into her with Isaac but half way through he'd got indecisive and started on her Umbreon friend. After that he'd figured what the hell and worked on a Zoroark too and then, finally, a Mismagius. The first attempt at the Mismagius had broken though which had delayed things but today, on his day off, he had managed to finish all the final details. He really hoped he'd remembered the markings more or less right on the unique pokemon and the worry that he hadn't nearly stopped him getting out his phone to message Sera; nearly, but not quite.

//Hi Sera its Taavi. I promised you a figurine and I'm sorry its been a while but its done now! If your free today I can meet you somewhere in the city to deliver? Hope you and your friends are well.//

There, that was okay right? Though he was grateful to her for what she'd done Sera's attitude to life and people still kind of made him wary and uncomfortable, he couldn't help worrying she'd find something wrong in what he'd sent.

Seraphine's phone buzzed. She picked it up and read the message, frowned at his writing skills, then read it a second time. Figurine...? Oh, oh right; he'd promised to make her a figurine even though she told him he didn't have to. Well whatever, he'd seemed determined to make her one and she hadn't cared to argue against it - old habits died hard, it seemed; she never was one to refuse gifts from boys - so she frowned at her phone as she tried to think of a good response. Was she free? Of course she was, just like every other day. At least lots of free time led to plenty of time to train her pokemon, and if she met up with him somewhere then she could continue on after that, maybe to the beach for them to train more, or to work with Lionel...

//That's fine. I'm free 2day, can meet up whenever. Somewhere on the east side of Camp if that's cool with u//

With that sent, the brunette dropped her phone on her bed and got up to grab a few things off her desk, assuming that he intended to meet up sooner rather than later. Sooner as in immediately, to be specific.

When his phone buzzed and chirped at him Taavi put down his 'homework' and read the text. He sighed. Well he hadn't expected a thank you exactly but just 'that's fine'? Oh well, he hadn't done it for thanks after all. Would have been nice to see a bit of enthusiasm though!

//Great! I could meet you in an hour down by the arcade if that works for you then?//

Assuming that it would Taavi put his papers away and got up to find his shoes, plus of course the carefully packed cardboard box containing the three figurines.

With a select few pokeballs stowed alongside her wallet in her purse and, after quickly changing her clothes to something more appropriate to wander around town in, the brunette jogged back to her bed to fetch her phone before she frowned at the next text. Arcade, arcade... Where was that again? It was never really one of those places she visited often - or at all - and thus had to wrack her brains to recall its location. And in an hour - so not yet. Ah well, she could go out and grab something to eat first or something, that would be nice.

//That's cool w me, c you then// she texted back in her usual, inconsistent fashion, then slipped her phone into her purse, slung it over one shoulder, and headed out of her apartment.

After an hour, a trip to a small cafe, and a bit of meandering around the city, Sera slowly made her way towards the arcade. Anya trotted along at her heels, while Isabella and Jacques trailed along behind her.

He got there early of course and sat down to wait on a bench because he didn't want to keep Sea waiting on him. It wasn't like he had nothing to do though, he'd brought some notes to read over and there were lots of pokemon passing by to watch.

Soon enough however he spotted some pokemon that he recognised - the almost-Shiny Absol in particular caught his eye - and with a slightly shy smile he got to his feet and waved a greeting. "Hi there!" he said, shoving his papers haphazardly back into the bag he'd brought along. "How are you guys today? Um, thanks for coming to meet me." Good start? Eh, reasonable start.
PostPosted: Fri Aug 26, 2016 3:49 pm

Ah, he was here already, that was good. While she was more on the impatient side and didn't like waiting, she would've if she had to. Luckily she didn't, though, so she adjusted her course and headed for her company. Her hand remained on the strap of her purse while her short arm hung at her side, but even if she didn't return his wave, she did return his greeting. "Hey," she said when she came to a stop a suitable distance away and shifted her weight to one foot, "we're fine. Trained for a little while this morning. What about you?"

With the obligatory question posed, she shrugged. "No problem." Why was he thanking her for coming to get the thing he had made for her? Shouldn't it be the other way around? ...wait, yes, yes it should. Damn. "Thanks for the-- uh," she paused to frown and find the right words. He hadn't even given her anything yet, why was she thanking him so soon? "The figurine?" The brunette finished uncertainly. She didn't even know what it was.

"Oh, we're good thanks," Taavi replied with a nod. "I joined the KSO at the beginning of the month so I've been pretty busy with training! It's my day off today though so this seemed like a good opportunity."

The figurine was of course why they were here but Taavi found himself smiling a bit - a bit shy, but genuine - at Sera's slightly awkward thanks. "And you're welcome! I have fun making it - well, them as it turned out. Um. I got indecisive and I ended up- here." As he spoke Taavi turned to pick the cardboard box up off the bench and then held it out to Sera. "I hope I got the markings close to right," he added with a hopeful smile.

Well, he seemed a bit... prone to rambling, but that wasn't too bad. He hadn't gone on that long really, anyway. "Well that's good," she replied. He seemed quite pleased in his response so she could only assume that it was good. Besides, days off were good anyway. Not that she knew from experience except from when she was in high school. How long ago was that now? It didn't seem so very far away, but it also seemed as if it happened a lifetime ago. Things were so very different then.

Shaking her head a bit to clear her thoughts, Sera reached both arms out to accept the package before she tucked it against her left side so she could open it with her right hand. With how long she'd had just the one hand, holding things in such a way had become second nature, and so she had little trouble holding the box still and opening the lid. It barely had any tape to hold it closed anyway, so she would've been absolutely pathetic indeed if she couldn't open it. What seemed like a mountain of feathers - or bits of feathers, at least - met her gaze, and she aimed a puzzled frown at them before she carefully dug through them. A few of the longest feathers she pulled out and wordlessly handed to Jacques, who proceeded to do the first thing with them that came to mind: Stick them in the fur on his face to give himself a mustache. Sera pointedly refrained from commenting and instead unearthed each figure in turn and carefully set them on top of the mountain of feathers so she could look at each without trying to juggle them or the box in her one hand, her pale eyes tracing the curves of the pieces and the lines of the markings. "These are really nice," she said at length, traces of sincerity in her voice as she continued to study them all.

Phew! Taavi beamed, relieved and pleased by the actually genuine sounding response. If she hadn't liked them he... well he wouldn't have been all that shocked but he would have been a bit upset after how much work he'd put into them. "I'm glad you like them!" he said aloud, shrugging a little awkwardly and fiddling with a braid of hair. "They were fun to work on too, um, nice to wind down in the evening you know? Err."

And now he had no idea what else to say. Was there anything to say? Maybe not, and maybe that was okay? She liked them, he was happy she liked them, maybe they could leave it at that.

He still felt like he ought to say something else.

"Err... so they're not varnished or anything in case you wanted to get them painted or something? Plus I just like the natural wood look. If they get anything on them you can clean them with dishsoap or white vinegar and a cloth, but go over with just water afterwards so there's no residue. If they stay in the sun the wood will bleach a bit over time but if you don't mind that it's all good and you can always move them around so different bits are exposed to light? Or, um, whatever you like of course." Whhhhy did he have to be so awkward? Eugh.

He really did ramble quite a bit, didn't he? Oh well. Sera ignored that fact and instead simply nodded and said, "I'll keep that in mind." She wasn't about to paint them herself - they'd only end up looking like a hot mess - so she'd probably set them somewhere. Maybe on her dresser? Hmm... She'd have to take a look around her room later to find the best place. "So--"

Thunk.

Her attention arrested by the abrupt noise, the brunette's head whipped to one side to stare at the mouth of an alley they stood near. What was that? It could've been nothing, of course - someone banging a door closed, a dumpster lid slamming shut or something - or it could've been something worse. Experience had taught her a cautiousness and suspicion she hadn't had years ago, and rather than ignore it and move on, she listened closely to see if it happened again - just in case.

Thunk.

Taavi turned quickly to stare too, one hand dropping to the first pokeball on his belt. The former Ranger now trainee KSO officer was not incautious himself but rather than remaining still he moved to the mouth of the ally and peered down it, keeping close to a wall just in case anything shot fire or lightning or anything because that did happen sometimes and getting it right in the face wasn't something you wanted in your life.

Realising that Sera had heard it too he shot a glance to her and shrugged. "A wild pokemon?" Or maybe just somebody slamming something but he wanted to see if it would happen again rather than just moving on again straight away.
PostPosted: Wed Sep 07, 2016 2:20 pm

When Taavi peeked around the corner, he would see... an ordinary alleyway. A dumpster sat nearby, a few trashcans leaned up against the building on the opposite end of the alley, and bits of garbage littered the stretch of pavement. The buildings on either side had one or two doors each - all closed - and nothing shot fire or lightning or anything at him. All remained quiet and still in the alley.

"Maybe," Sera agreed somewhat skeptically as she joined him, peering around him curiously only to see... nothing. Well that was a little boring... "Maybe there's something in the dumpst--?"

Thunk.

Sera tensed but didn't move. Despite the sound, the alley remained empty. Nothing moved at all. The brunette's pale eyes narrowed a bit, both in suspicion and mounting curiosity. She stepped around Taavi and walked a few paces into the alley proper, her pokemon at her side giving her the courage to do so, but she couldn't see anything out of the ordinary even from her new vantage point. She frowned in confusion - at least a hint of disappointment - before she chewed her lower lip thoughtfully. Check the dumpster, she was about to say, but another sound interrupted her before she could even begin to speak this time.

A frantic scrabbling sound emanated from further down the alley, its source apparent a moment later when one of the doors swung open suddenly and a Diancie burst out of it, panting and trembling. It immediately pushed the door shut behind it, then turned in a random direction before it barreled blindly down the alleyway, its focus on the door behind it rather than where it was going - which just happened to be right for the pair of humans.

Sera sucked in a breath and quickly swung her back towards a wall to get out of the way, right as the little legendary actually looked at where it was headed. Startled by the pair of humans and the pokemon in its path - somewhat, at any rate - it made a strangled noise and stuck its hands out in front of it as it came to an abrupt halt, its wide, frightened eyes staring at both Sera and Taavi in turn as it waited a moment to see what they would do.

"Woah!" Taavi stared in shock at the pokemon that had just appeared before them, struggling a bit to process what he was seeing. After a couple of moments however his brain kicked back in, the pokemon - the Diancie - was terrified. "Hey, hey, it's okay," Taavi said, holding his hands down near his sides palms up to show they were empty. "We're not going to hurt you, what's wrong?" Was it being chased? That seemed likely. Taavi's expression hardened and his grip on his first pokeball tightened. "Something else is coming, or someone," he predicted with a quick glance at Sera.
PostPosted: Mon Sep 26, 2016 1:34 pm

The Diancie shot a frightened look back over its shoulder before it pressed its small hands to its eyes.

"Yeah, we won't hurt you," Sera put in, watching the legendary with a frown. Why was it covering its eyes? "Do you want to hide? We can hide you," the brunette offered. Just what had scared it so much that made it try to get away without even looking where it went? It wasn't trying to get anywhere in particular, it seemed; it had only looked like it was just trying to get away. "C'mon, let's hide. Come on," she said as she backed up against the dumpster and quickly but carefully set down her box of figures between her feet. Isabella leaned against the wall and Anya curled up around her trainer's feet, while Jacques stood in front of them; both he and Sera motioned for Taavi to join them up against the wall. Already the beginnings of an illusion flickered around the small group. "Come on, it'll be okay." As she spoke, the brunette gently, so gently reached for and pulled the floating legendary in towards her; the Diancie shivered despite the softness of the touch, but rather than move away, it did as it was told and moved closer.

The sound of muffled voices yelling somewhere not far away filtered out from the nearby doorway, and whether Taavi had joined them or not at that point, Jacques pulled up an illusion to cover them as a pair of humans - a tall brunette with a pixie cut, and an almost-as-tall young man whose dark hair was haphazardly tied back - burst out from the same door the Diancie had erupted from just moments before, and immediately cast around for where it had gone.

Taavi nodded to the gesture and moved along with Sera and the pokemon; still gripping Scully's pokeball ready to release her into battle if it came to it but with a Zororark with them he silently hoped they could avoid trouble. That there was some trouble to be had he was pretty certain, there often was when you put even 'just' a rare or rare coloured pokemon in the presence of people so a legendary....

When the door burst open Taavi stilled and glanced at Jacques but even as he did so the dark type vanished from view; good. The two figures that had just emerged were pretty blatantly looking for Diancie; Taavi narrowed his eyes, jaw tightening, and tried to focus on every little detail of their faces so that he'd be able to identify them in future if he needed to. Other than that it seemed to him that the best thing to do was watch and wait, see if they gave away anything more and hope they'd run off in search of the missing legendary so that he and Sera could escape with it without having to fight opponents of unknown strength.
