Ah, Jahuar. Nadiya couldn’t help appreciating the grandness of the trees that hovered above her. Every time the girl came back into the dense rainforests she felt overwhelmed. Perhaps it was the tiny stature she was ‘blessed’ with, but everything in this area seemed so huge and daunting. Not that it scared her in the least…more likely it was an adventure for the young rogue. Plus, the trading village was a perfect place for interaction with foreigners from all over the world. Gods knew she could always find a good story here and there in the markets and even more in the taverns.

Now that she was even sent off to spread rumors about the dancer, Nadiya found herself happily whistling. It felt nice to have a reason to her step rather than the random aimless wandering she had been feeling as of late. So for now she would continue to travel and see about finding the nearest tavern to play some songs and earn some ale…

Sol hated Jauhar.

There wasn't a stitch of this plant ridden land that he found enjoyable. It was so hot that even his bare skin felt uncomfortable, which in itself was another point of annoyance. He didn't like showing this much skin; running around in a little loin cloth was the weirdest experience. Sol felt vulnerable, exposed and just...well, it was hard to hide oneself in folds of fabric if there was no fabric to hide in.

He sung a little tune under his breath as he walked, antennae flicking every so often towards a stray sound. There was just so MUCH here that it was hard to concentrate, but music...music seemed to center him. Sol found himself aimlessly wandering the village, walking without a purpose and with no destination in mind. Just anywhere that wasn't with his family for the moment.

Somewhere cooler, hopefully.

The Matori was keen on picking up sounds, especially musical ones. Hearing another melody throughout the trees was enough to get Nadiya's interest and she found her own whistle softening just a hint. Who else was out here? Gaze flickering about with interest the girl darted through the trees with curiosity.

Perhaps she had heard things? Shrugging Nadiya raised her flute and tested it with a few notes of melody as she continued through the edges of the village. Maybe I'll stand at this corner here and just play. That decided she picked a rather deserted looking place to try and practice her trade. It was always better to warm up before heading into the market or taverns after all...

Despite all his grump and fuss, Sol's song was fairly light hearted. When he thought no one was around it rose in volume, bringing some comfort to the wayward lad. After all, it was a song that was dear to him, so why wouldn't it make him happy?

Then...his tune seemed to pick up another. For a moment Sol was so startled that he stopped, and turned around, eyes darting sharply to try and pick up the player. When he didn't see them he hesitantly begun to sing again, this time following the musical trail.

What he saw wasn't what he had expected. If anything he had thought to see an iceling down in the rainforest due to the song's origin, but this girl wasn't from Zena. She was one of those fish people from the south! Once he came into sight he stopped singing once more, this time so he could simply stop to observe her. What was she doing here? At least half of his DNA had originated here, so he had an excuse to be here.

Oh? So perhaps she had heard someone after all. Smiling against the mouth of her flute the girl began to pick up her notes. Whoever it was they seemed to be getting closer and closer. Her gaze brightening with interest Nadiya softened her notes to a gentle beat until they came to a slow close. So who was her little song bird?

"Oh!" As she lowered the flute from her lips the girl gave a brilliant smile to the youngling, "Aren't you adorable~ I hope I didn't bother you with my music since it seemed you were doing so well on your own before."

Sol jumped back, startled by the sudden non-lyrical noise. His antennae flared defensively. Adorable? No way! Sol was a big boy now; big boys weren't adorable, they were tough and strong and - why was she smiling like that?!

"...It's fine." He groused, cheeks puffed up a little. Even if he wanted to leave his curiosity dragged him closer. "How did you know how to play that song since you're not from...well, the north." Besides, it wasn't as if he had ever heard that song played on the flute before. It didn't sound bad, but it was more than a little odd.

Oh gods those cheeks looked so pinchable! Nadiya had to resist the urge to squee and run up to touch the little hybrid. She had never seen such a mix of species before in one little body. Flushing lightly the Matori glanced away. Perhaps she had been away from her little siblings for too long...all that older sisterly love had almost come pouring out just now. Calm yourself. Talk about a good first impression!

His question halted her racing thoughts, "Does that seem like an impossible feat?" The girl smiled playfully, "I suppose it might not be exactly normal to see a Matori playing such a song, right? But it had such a beautiful melody that I couldn't resist learning it from a Zenan bard while I was in Tale." Nadiya tucked a stray strand of hair behind her ear, "I actually know a few songs from all of the areas since I've traveled. I hope this one sounded alright for you~"

He crossed his arms over his chest and stood with one hip cocked to the side. His head canted to the side, watching her even as she seemed to turn away from him. "It's weird," he grumped. But, really, he supposed it couldn't have been THAT odd. Especially once she gave her explanation.

"It was a little off. It needs to be higher in the beginning, lulling only in the middle. Try it again." Prudence would dictate that he demonstrate how to do it but singing in front of a stranger...that just wasn't something Sol liked to think about. "It's not that hard. You can get it if you try."

"A little bit higher you say?" Tilting her head Nadiya listened to the boy's instructions. Could she even trust a little one's opinion on this? Still, as a bard in training it was best to listen to everyone. How could she get better if she ignored an honest opinion? Alright then....let's see...

Raising the flute to her lips the girl's fingers hesitated only for a brief second before they began their dance over the instrument. A few notes bounced about the trees as she attempted to find the right pitch. Settling on one Nadiya finally played the piece only stopping after the very end to lower the flute and glance towards the boy, "Is that any better?"

He nodded his head along to the tune, little cerulean tipped fingers tapping out a rhythm against his thigh. She was close, very close, but it wasn't exactly how he remembered. Sol remembered his grandmothers singing it to him one day when the rains had swept over the icy ground. It was a soothing melody, one that switched into something perkier after a time.

Sol shook his head. "You're getting closer, but you're still not...here, listen." For a moment he didn't seem to do anything; just stand and shuffle his feet. Then, his song began to grow. It started out as a smaller murmurer, ending on a voice that only the Gods themselves could have given him.

"Aw." Nadiya pouted slightly. She truly had been trying...so what had she missed this time? Yet her disappointment lifted as the little one opened his mouth and began to sing. At first she wanted to tease him about being so quiet, but as the melody grew the girl had to close her mouth.

That was...beautiful.

Gaze widening Nadiya just stared at the youngling as silence grew around them, "I...see." She bit her bottom lip thoughtfully before offering a small smile, "I may have to listen to you sing again before I get the tune. Actually...if you don't mind your voice is rather lovely I would love to play alongside of you. It'll help me to get the right notes after all!" Who would have thought that she would be asking such a little one to actually guide her melody? Life was definitely always full of surprises!

When he finished Sol's cheeks, neck, and the tips of his ears were nearly obsidian. It was the first time he had ever sung in front of anyone who wasn't related to it, and it was...more than a little odd. He couldn't look her in the eye. The young boy was so ready to be humiliated that he wasn't prepared for her praise. "Play...alongside me?" Was she stupid, or just humoring him? What kind of adult wanted to play alongside a kid like him anyway?

But...the offer was tempting enough. After all the bad things that had been happening lately Sol really did need a pick me up. "...If you think you can keep up." He puffed up his chest a little and started to sing once again, this time with a good helping more of confidence than the last.

"Of course!" Nadiya nodded with enthusiasm, "I haven't heard such a lovely voice in a while so I would love to play music for you." She winked at his statement, "I'll try my hardest so bare with me." It was nice and relaxing to be able to play music with the youngling. It was reminiscent of being with her own siblings and in a way helped to ease the pain of the homesickness that haunted her.

Energized by his own confidence Nadiya picked up her flute and began to play with vigor. Now this was definitely something fun to do! Gaze glimmering the girl bobbed her head along to the beat while her feet threatened to tap against the ground. Would it be strange if she danced a bit? She had just loosened the boy up enough to sing...the last thing she wanted to do was scare him away by dancing! Maybe in a few more beats she would think about it....maybe.

Sol...couldn't quite tell if the heat in his skin was caused from the humidity of the rain forest or...No, definitely the jungle.

He bounced from one foot to the other in rhythm to the tune, his antennae bobbing with each step. Eventually he even began to smile which was something of an oddity for him. He hadn't felt this light in ages; not since Papa had been taken, anyway. And now...now he actually felt like a kid again! His voice rose with his growing excitement, though his timbre did suffer. He just couldn't concentrate that much on the song once he actually started having fun.

Smiling at the light flush Nadiya just continued to play her music. It was so nice to be able to have fun with someone else for once. Not for money or food, but just for...fun. Gaze glimmering the girl bounced from foot to foot as she finally just began to let loose. She hoped he didn't mind other music as well since when the song was over she began to switch again to other folk music of Zena and even some of Tale and Sauti.

Heart jumping in her chest from happiness Nadiya had to lower her flute eventually and take a gasp of air, "Wow." The girl reached up to wipe back her bangs, "Seems like we really had fun with that one." She laughed, "Thank you for that."
