Despite actually having spotted one of the kids, that just didn't seem to work out. It was like she had blinked and the kid was gone. This really was going to be like finding a needle in a hay stack. They must know these woods so well, and this was the first time any of them had ever stepped foot in one! It was really pretty frustrating. After all that it was decided that maybe they should split into smaller groups so that they could search more, there was some debate as to which direction the child had managed to run off in.
"Well, why don't we give this direction a shot, Mahuyah?" Patches sniffed the air a bit, she had at least gotten a scent from the kid earlier. If she could pick it up they had a chance at finding them again!

Mahuyah has been quick to follow her friend off, her own light continuing to sweep through the brush in search of the kids. "You would think they would be exhausted at this point, if they were gone this long. Or at least hungry." She paused a moment, then reached out and lightly tugged on Patches' arm. "Hey... why do you think was can't use water magic on them? I know they're kids, but it worried me that Tomoe was so secretive about who they all are." She couldn't help but shake that nagging feeling.
She turned, pointing her flashlight in a direction where she thought she'd heard something.

When a beam of light hit the child all one could hear was an annoyed shriek. Naoki glowered at the light, an arm raised to fight it off. Lashing their many tails, they sent a well aimed rock at the flashlight with a firm kick before scampering away.
The group has successfully spotted Naoki!
