Upon the docking of their humble vessel, the pirate navigator yelled that he would return in the evening and that they could leave the following day. It was this departure when they arrived to Sero that Orynoko had discovered the beautiful marketplace and had established his temporary stall. What was said to only be a day trip had grown into a week's long absence without one word sent back to his crew. This was hardly the first time to happen and despite how much time had passed, the Captain remained in good spirits, confident than the young man would return to them soon. At least he had been by day five. Day six was the day that even the good Captain had lost a bit of patience in waiting.

Orynoko hardly cared or even thought of his crew though! He was having a blast and his encounters had been such thrilling experiences and he was making a good bit of gold. Why stop when you are on a hot streak? His astral had tried numerous times to try and convince him to give up this life and return to thie pirating. That was unusual for the tiri but that was how awful he felt watching this continuous vicious cycle and actually preferred the piracy to this. It was the same everyday: the early morning shoppers would run into a mysterious 'helping hand' and find their pockets light a little too late. By the afternoon, all the goods were up for sale in his stall after their owners had wandered off.

The seventh day of this operation had a full swing. He had accomplished his mission in the morning and had brand new scrolls, jewels, and fine scarves for display. Orynoko sat covered in a wraped cloak that hid his face well enough, and his form, but nothing could be done for his hands. Those shackles he bore with those black worn gloves that demonstrated the displayed wares for purchase would be easy to spot by any familiar soul. However, his pride blinded him that he could get away with anything. After all, where would the crew go without their navigator? Hah! He could do as he pleased.. or so he thought.

Vanu had only barely managed to deal with the aggravation of being stuck at the docks while the navigator went and played who knows where. There as some bitter ember of hope he was going to be back at the ship by the time that Vanu had gotten back for his daily swim. When he climbed up the side the ship and was informed that the brat still hadn't returned he lost it. Fighting hard to get his anger out through the blindess and ache in his lungs. "He has been gone a week!" Vanu huffed, shaking his head, eyes shut tight trying to hurrying up the transitional process,"That is it, I am going to go get that worthless pup and drag him back here. Even if I have to knock him out to do it." His eyes were bloodshot, but at least he could actually see again, rather than the blinding white. There wasn't a single soul on board that went to stop him, excluding the Captain who let out the small protest against harm. "Fine," the tone was of absolute resentment barely spoken but growled, "I promise I will only rough him up a little but if he puts up a fight I am throwing him in the ocean."

Vanu stormed off the ship, while he walked into the market he idly managed his hair, finding little granules of fresh sea salt left in its length. He flicked them away, to a passerby he might even look peaceful doing this activity. All the while his mind was full of rage, that this little pin p***k had the gall to hold everyone up with his little escapades. In the time that had taken for him to get there, his vision had improved back to its usual levels and breathing was normalized. Vanu made his way to the middle of the market. Now he would start his search for that little thorn.

He whispered to himself,"Where are you?" It took several hours for him to pick through the market looking for the missing navigator. If he was there for fun he would have approached some of the women and men that were whispering about him in either, or both admiration and fear. But there was something to get done. He finally spotted him. He approached first, didn't speak up until he was sure that the brat could hear him.

"There you are you little s**t~" Vanu barked likely startling shoppers and anyone nearby, "What do you think you are doing?! You were supposed to be back at the ship, six days ago." He quickened his approach eyes focused.

That boisterous call of, "Scrolls, Jewels, Cloths.." that he would utter every now and then was no match for the chiding tone of his first mate. Thank goodness that cloak was over his eyes or else Vanu would have seen the nasty glare shot over.

All looks of hostility dissipated behind a beautiful, dazzling grin that sat upon his lips as his hands lifted back his hood. "My, what a vulgar tongue for such a pretty mouth such as yours, Madame!" Rising to his feet to hold open his arms to the approaching halfbreed. "There's no need for singing such sweet nothings when addressing me, Pet. I'm but a humble merchant at yer service." The amount of amusement that dripped in his words was enough to make passerbys wonder if perhaps this entire show was nothing more than a farce to drum up more business to his stand.

"Come closer, my dear, and see what lovely wares I have for you to by. I'm sure this beautiful necklace would match your hair quite nicely." His hands moved with such swift speed that it was almost in a graceful motion that he now held the golden chained babble up for Vanu to see. Orynoko knew all too well he was dealing with no woman but it never stopped the human from addressing him in such mixed company as such. Who would argue after all with those beautiful features he possessed? "Now I'm sure we could reach a fair trade for this trinket, Miss."

This had not been the first time he had made such a public spectacle and addressed him as a woman and surely this would not be the last. Offering to sell an item to his own First Mate was just some extra insult to injury with a bit of salt. He had a feeling he was going to pay for this but the look that he would get on Vanu's face was totally worth the cost of a few near scars.

Vanu snarled, "Orynoko." It was hard to not address the being called a woman, and if anyone else had been the one to do it, their finger bone or bones would have a new home on the necklace that Vanu already wore. Vanu tried to put together his words, rather than throwing a flurry of blows into the man's face. "Tell me, do you ever plan to come back to the ship? Or should I tell the rest of the crew that you have finally left us?" The words came out practically song like. The idea was an absolute delight to Vanu, to be rid of this thorn. Even if the awnser was yes, he wasn't going to leave it be. This brat was property as far as he was concerned. Stole him and everything.

He noticed the people browsing and offered a saccharine grin to Orynoko, " Excuse me, good people."It was hard to get those words out, even if his breathing was normal, "These goods are clearly stolen! This man hasn't a penny to his name. Nor a network to trade in. I wouldn't be surprised if he hasn't robbed any of you already. Once a pirate always a Pirate." He turned his gaze back to Orynoko, he was ready to run any part of this fabricated reputation into the mud if he could.

A triumphant grin broke over Orynoko's face at Vanu's snarl. Gotcha! The best part was watching the violent First Mate trying so hard to keep his temper in line. This was beautiful and worth every bit of trouble he had endured during his time in Sero.

The inquiry placed before him about returning to the ship for a moment caused a flicker of a glare at the Halfbreed. Vanu knew just as well as he did that Orynoko's shackles were quite the visual reminder: He was an owned soul. His life was not his own to just freely leave his prison, his crew. Vanu knew this. To even mention such a predicament like that was a low blow even by that fish's standard. Oh who was Ory kidding? Did Vanu even have a standard when it came to humans? There wasn't such a thing as 'low' for humans was here? As quickly as his distaste for such a question revealed itself, it was gone behind a smile and a sigh, "Oh how could I leave such a crew to their own navigations? You'd be lost without me! Did ye all miss me so much you couldn't bare to go one more moment without me, Miss? That's so sweet of ya."

That grin smacked the smile right off Orynoko's face. What did this man have planned? Every fiber of his being warned him the moment he caught glimpse of that smile he was in for it. He knew Vanu enough to know when he smiled like that it was never a good thing for him. He gained his answer as to what Vanu planned when he bellowed out the truth.

Several people who had stopped and admired various things all looked at Vanu in surprise then narrowed their gaze at their vendor. Everyone dropped the wares they had and Orynoko was quick to leap to action. "Madame, such accusations! I assure ye, the wares be good! I gained them from a very reputable trading route." The damage had been done though with Vanu's magic word: Pirate.
Murmurs started picking up just low enough to be heard, "I thought those shackles looked a little strange." "It would explain why we never saw him before a few days ago." "Should we get the authorities?"

A frustrated groan couldn't be masked as Orynoko quickly snatched up his goods in a swift movement. "So be it, I can see my welcome is warn. I'll be on my way."
While he was packing up, one of the customers who stopped looked up at him, "Where do you think you're going? You can't leave until we get this sorted out with the authorities." A nasty glare was shot at Vanu. This was all his fault and the navigator wouldn't forgive him for a while. His gloved hands raised up innocently, "Now there's no need for all that. My wife here just loves to play games, don't cha, Dear?" A glare was shot over to Vanu. "Pretty thing has a hard time knowing when one of her jokes goes a little too far. I am taking my leave though so we can go home together and sort this out. Right, Sweetie?"

The ship was in ocean now,as his version of the saying goes, he could let Orynoko sweat this one out alone, or he could play along and make him feel disgusting. It was a hard call. Stomach the insult of having a these people think that he is closer to their level and married to a human? That was enough to make him decide. There was a visible shudder, for him it was of absolute gut churning. But a plan formed. Vanu walked up closer to Orynoko, and whispered "Find you own way back to the ship, runt. I am not helping, you."

Vanu stepped back a proper pace, pulled his arm back, slapped him with the back of his hand, and in an incredulous tone, "How dare you claim to be my husband! As if I would lower my standards for a man like you!" He turned away in a huff starting to stomp off. Vanu could act the part, he had been slapped at least once himself, he knew how huffy ladies get when you tell them something they don't like, or physically show passing appreciations at the tavern. He might have to even thank Orynoko, for giving him the role that was more believable.

The shudder from Vanu was enough to make Orynoko smirk. Any sort of discomfort he could bring the fishman was enough to make the day seem totally worth it. However his delight vanished the moment Vanu moved towards him. He held out his arms to him as if to offer a hug and he beamed with a grin but the First Mate would be able to see the navigator's entire form freeze in place when he came near. Even the human acknowledged how scary a provoked Vanu could be.

Such whispers caused his one brow to raise, "Love! Don't say such embarrasin' things in publi-" There was just the smallest hint of disgust to the nickname 'love' but Orynoko was quick to play on the fact that Vanu clearly had whispered to him before everyone. However this cheeky move was short lived as he was struck across the face, jerking his head to the side and cutting his mouth on his own teeth from impact of talking. Technically it was a justified attack after all the man put Vanu through.

At this point most of the marketplace had stopped to watch the scene. It was the slap that echoed through the stalls and this was too good to pass it up. Several men were seen wincing, with a smile, "Oooo.." A few snickers were heard among the mutterings of the witnesses. "Some guys never learn." "What a scoundrel!" "Maybe he likes it rough?" "Do you really think a man like that can get a class act like her?" "Yeah, she's far too pretty for him!" "She could do better." "They seem awful close though." The scene was enough of a distraction for everyone to forget about the authorities for a moment.

Such a golden opportunity was not wasted on Orynoko as he bolted after Vanu, holding the side of his face, "I know the divorce was messy but there's no need for violence, Dear!" He called out to Vanu as he struggled to keep up the man, hold the side of his newest red wound from his crew mate, and carry that big bag of loot through the crowd. His tiri had no trouble keeping up with Ory though. When the man finally caught up with Vanu he gave him a dirty look, "Did you HAVE to hit me? Jeez! That hurt!"

Vanu scoffed at Orynoko. Still disgusted, trying to keep himself from shaking in the mixture of anger and revulsion.

"I didn't do any of that to be helpful to you. You should be glad I didn't snap your arm off, or punch you in the gut. Now wouldn't that have been a proper spectacle. Either the bleeding or the retching."
Vanu grabbed Orynoko's arm roughly and beamed. "You should consider yourself lucky that I am more loyal to the Captain than I am inclined to kill you, but s**t like this really makes me wonder, what has the Captain done to earn it." He couldn't help but laugh at this point, the whole event that had unfolded. Just imagining that he would be able to collect so many new finger bones. He released Orynoko's arm.

"I should thank you."
He held out the necklace a small distance from his neck, letting the bleached bones tick against one another, "I might get a few new trophies from idiots that actually believed you." He pet Orynoko's head.

His green flicked to Vanu in anger, "A little far from home ain't cha? The ocean's back this way. Why'd did ye haveta come ruin my fun? I was making a good business here!"

Caelum, who trailed behind the two humanoid figures rolled his eyes. The definition of 'good' was very different than his own but that seemed to be a common theme for Orynoko. A wary teal gaze flickered between the two men. He didn't like when they 'talked' because too often it led to fists.

When his arm was taken, there was an annoyed, "Tch." that escaped the human but he was quick to hide it behind a cocky smirk. "Well someone sounds a bit jealous eh?" When he was released, there was a proper pout as he rubbed where he was grabbed. "Couldn't you be at least a little grateful Vanu? Look at all this nice loot we got!" He purposely left off the part about the gold he made. That wasn't for the crew's enjoyment. That was for him. He had no intention of sharing it either. A cautious gaze was shot to the First Mate. "Now Vanu, we don't need more attention 'ere. Lets just get back alright? These people did nothin' to ye."

"Do you think I enjoy coming inland? Even at docks? There are too many of your type running around, and if that isn't clear I am talking about that pure human fifth. I only came out here because the rest of the crew and Captain had to much faith that you would return on your own." Vanu offered a snide remark,"I am ever so sure what ever is in that bag is worth all this extra time we have spent docked here. Not to mention what ever coin was gained from such. Not that I expect your ungrateful a** to share. But I am sure the rest of the crew and the Captain will end up interrogating you about your adventures. I am not inclined to lie to the Captain, about your disrespectful behavior." Vanu gave Orynoko a small arrogant grin, feeling ever so pleased with himself. It was all a taunt. He wanted more of reason and many more reasons to beat him into the floorboards of the deck when they got back to the ship. He truly truly did.

"Hope you liked you little vacation. I am sure we won't be taking to another dock for a while, thanks to this."

It was the only thing that made his expression fall and become blank. It took every bit of his being to keep from striking the man with his bare fist. He knew what that would get him in the end, and this wasn't the right day for this. His hands balled into fists as he turned his gaze to the road before them and fell into a bit of silence.

The two beings were connected through such a bond that Caelum glared for Orynoko at Vanu from behind. Surely that had been a low blow meant to cause retaliation. The tiri moved to walk beside Orynoko, nudging his side a little but it looked more like the astral had accidentally bumped the man. It was intentional so that Vanu wouldn't notice the creature trying to console the harm his words had carried. A quiet link between their minds that only was shared between Orynoko and Caelum carried his words 'Keep steady. He's not worth it. Don't give him what he wants. Never satisfy that one.'

A steadying breath was exhaled as he did his best to regain his sharp tongue. He looked to Vanu and gave him a wink with a grin, "Aw I'm still yer favorite human exception. That's sweet." He mockingly gasped. "Oh Vanu, you? A rat to the Captain? Now who could ever think a First Mate would be such a nasty thing! Even after he received a piece of the booty before anyone else had the chance to lay such a claim?" Before the fishman could even react, Orynoko dropped the necklace he had been demonstrating around Vanu's neck.

The delicate gold chain had left one to think this was a feminine piece but it was truly valuable. It's pendant was haloed by the rare turquoise gem at four evenly spaced points around a large teardrop sapphire, which measured a good two and a half inches tall, and 2 inches wide. Pure white diamonds ran between each turquoise circle. One could take this as a bribe. Orynoko increased his trot of a walk to have his back to Vanu, and with a wave of his hand in dismissive manner, calling back, "Consider it payment for getting me out of that jam back there.." What Vanu wouldn't see was the truly awful grimace on his face. Keep your friends close and your enemies closer. He had to do things like this to ensure he didn't lose his ground between him and Vanu. How else would he get a chance to murder the jerk later down the road if he let distance between them grow?

"I favor no humans." Vanu corrected bitingly devoid of tone, but ended on a cruel smile. His momentary victory over the man, was ended by the plunking of the trinket on to him. He growled at the gesture. Even shot his arm out to grab Orynoko but missed him. Vanu uncaring of worth, ripped the golden chain off his neck breaking it in the process, holding the pendant in palm. He would have tossed it into the water or left it in the street if he was in the right mood to. Vanu's eyes narrowed on Orynoko as he trotted ahead, as if some pretty bobble would be enough to keep him safe. He pocketed it for now, but fully intended to hand it over to the Captain when they got back, when he kept his initial word and ratted.

He kept his eye on him and his astral as they headed back to the ship. Vanu at this point was glad to stay behind him. Gave him time to arrange his thoughts for when he reported in to the Captain. As well, it gave him the chance to make sure that Orynoko didn't deter from the route back.

What little sounds he captured from behind him helped Orynoko smile. Finally he had returned the jab with a good one of his own. Perhaps if he continued doing nice things for Vanu, he could get him in trouble. The wheels in his devious mind were turning when he felt a head butt from his tiri and met a sharp glare from the astral. He sighed in disappointment.

Why did his astral have to be such a goody-two-hooves? Rolling his eyes he began to contemplate other things that he could be doing. He then turned and looked back at Vanu. "How 'bout we grab a good bit o' drink before we hop back onboard?" A flashy grin flicked at the Halfbreed. "My treat!" He was purposely stalling to go back on one hand, but on the other hand, he really could use a bit of liquid courage. Orynoko might have been the favorite of the Captain, but disappearing for a week wasn't going to be taken well by Captain nor crew. He didn't look forward to what might await him on the ship.

"Not a single chance in hell. Don't you think you've left the good Captain waiting long enough? I am sure the other crewmen must miss you too. After all you are the favorite little pet. I am sure the Captain has missed you dearly too." Vanu caught back up with Orynoko."Or are you scared that his favoritism only goes so far when it comes to leaving high and dry for several nights. That your fellow crewmen won't be so kind, since you left them to make coin and kept them making any themselves?" Vanu crossed his arms with a fake mocking little pout, not yielding on the point. "Now, are you going to head back or am I going to have to make you go back? I aim to sleep in my hammock tonight, and I have zero faith in you returning on your own." It was a gentle threat but one all the same as far as further little jabs at him being a pet more than a person.

It was just a quick utterance of annoyance as he spat at him from under his breath, "Not. A. Pet." He could never hide his distaste for being called a pet no matter how much he loved playing games. Bad enough to be bound to something as monstrous as this man but to hell if anyone dare call him the pirate's pet. However he quickly gasped in a playful jest, "Oh Vanu! I didn't know how worried I've made ya!" He grinned at him. "Careful there, yer kindness is showin'." He then put on quite the mocking tone, "And ta think all this time, I held doubt in our relationship! But ya really care for me! Ta be this concerned! Its so endearing!"

He cocked a brow at the man with a smirk. "Does this mean we're sharing hammocks tonight? Yours or mine? What will the other men think!" The entire time he sat there poking and prodding verbally at Vanu was another moment he wasn't walking onto the ship so it was worth whatever came his way. "Now of course you'll wear the dress when we wed, and I'm sure the Capt won't mind conducting the ceremony.." Tick, tock, man he could draw out this for ages. "I will be a good groom since I am so dashing after all!" Perhaps if he beat him enough he would need a mainland doctor? If he could send Vanu into a blind rage maybe the halfbreed would give up on his quest to get Ory back onto the ship.
