Atlas walks down a dirt path with the sun high overhead. The day was hot, the air muggy. But he only seemed to notice by the slow trodding of his steps. He wasn't paying attention to the field of green grasses and small white flowers around him. His mind was still on the battlefield. His thoughts dark with the things he'd seen and done. The birds singing and the sun shining in a clear blue sky seemed to belong to a world he could no longer touch.

Clara Whitney was on high. It was such a beautiful day, even with the heat. The sun being high in the sky always made her heart sing and soar. She started stamping about in excitement. The tiny mare really just needed to get out there and give her happiness to someone else. Or at least share it. Maybe not give it all away. Giving away her happiness would leave her with nothing. Though... If one really needed it... She would be happy to give it to them. Happiness is something that needs to be shared and given to everyone. She really believed that from the bottom of her heart and soul.
She trotted gaily about, taking in all the sights and sounds of the field around her. She really couldn't ask for anything more that day. The colors around her seemed brighter than usual even. It was really just amazing. Breathtaking really. One only needed to look around them to consider the beauty in everything. Even her familiar was high in the sky and darting around to enjoy the day. Even darting into the trees to go in and out of the shade. He was a silly bird sometimes. Or at least he wasn't too much like other birds. She guessed that maybe that was because he was her bird. But she wasn't sure how that worked. She adored him though. And it made her even happier to see him out and about enjoying the day.
As she calmed down a bit, she noticed heavy footfalls on the path ahead of her. She wondered if someone needed help or something. Surly if someone needed help she might at least be able to bring them some water on such a hot day. It wasn't good to go so slowly in the sun on a day like today.
Carefully and quickly she followed the path in front of her. Before long, a large stallion caught her eye. His fur was beautiful. The light color of his mane and tail seemed to dance in the sun. Her breath had caught in her throat at the sight of him. She wasn't sure why it seemed to make her heart skip a beat. Though she had never seen one with such striking colors though. He wore a scarf much like her own as well. This made her rather excited. She wasn't sure why, but she felt like they would be friends one day. Or maybe even that day! That would make it better.
As she came closer, she considered him carefully. The look in his fiery red eyes made her slow her pace a bit. Slowly she placed herself in front of him. Carefully she looked up into his face and cleared her throat a bit. She didn't want to get into his way, especially since he was so much larger than what she had thought from far off. "Are you alright?" She really didn't know what else to say to one who was clearly... Not alright. Clara wasn't even sure if he was going to answer her... But she had to try.
LydaLynn Here is a nice tag for you <3 I apologize for not getting to it sooner... I haven't felt very motivated, but I think I'm getting it back!

Atlas looks up at the small mare when she speaks. He had been aware of her approach but had deemed her nonthreatening and promptly ignored her. Of course, from a distance, with her frolicking and the little attention he had been paying, he had thought her a foal.
She was not a foal.
His eyes sharp as he looks her over, Pure white hide, bright eyes, a happy smile . . . Something in him ached at seeing her. She seemed untouched by the world, despite being unexpectedly an adult. He felt soiled, worn, dreary, when he looked at her with her bright colors and crisp scarf.
But she was smiling at him. What had she said . . . ? Was he alright? No, he wasn't, but he didn't think she could understand that and he didn't want to try, didn't want to dim the little light standing on the path in front of him.
Holding in a sigh, "I am well enough. You should return to your play, it looked more interesting than I." He tries to give her a smile, small, worn, and strained, but a smile all the same. It doesn't quite touch his eyes, but it's genuine for all of that. Just her existence had brightened his day.

Clara smiled again at the large stallion, though it seemed, softer somehow. Not because she was any less happy, but she could tell he was something. That he had something that he should try and let go of one day. It was something large, even if she didn't know what. His eyes simply didn't light up the same way hers did. Even if she wasn't the one who would put the light back in his eyes, she could at least put the start of it. Even just the slightest twinkle. She was sure that would improve his outlook on this, if even just the slightest bit.
She then considered what the stallion had said to her. More interesting than him? "I don't think so..." She trotted a circle around the stallion, just to look at how large he was. "How could playing in a field possibly be more interesting than meeting you?" Giggling a bit she pranced in a circle before addressing him again, "I think it would be far more interesting to talk to you for a bit. The fields will still be here when I want to play in them again. That's the good thing about plants. They don't often move." She nodded rather vehemently. Perhaps a bit too much cause it hurts her neck a little and made her dizzy when she stopped.
"If you don't mind the presumption, were you going anywhere in particular?" She smiled, looking back up into his eyes as she did when she first stopped in front of him.

He turns his head to watch her prance around him, wondering how she fits so much energy in such a tiny body. "I suppose plants don't move much, that's true." An odd yet somewhat insightful observation. He wasn't quite sure what to make of her. But her last question stills him, his gaze turning introspective. "They say, you can't go home again." His voice a bit hollow, distant. It's hard to know if that's the answer to her question or an observation in general, but he doesn't clarify. After a moment he tries again to give her a smile, bending his neck to put his head closer to her level. "I'm not the sort of interesting you want to meet, little one. The plants may not move but they're better company than I."
