Alassiel swung the trident around herself and then jabbed the invisible enemy. Rygha was sunbathing next to her, he’d gotten quite large now, and soon she would be able to properly ride him with some training. It was going to take some interesting training on her half as well. She needed to change her style, she wouldn’t be able to move her legs anymore and that’s what she was working on today. Attacks and strategies while on her snaptrotters back. The beach was thankfully almost empty today, but it was still early to judge if it would remain that way for the rest of the day.

Sorry about size D:

(( Size doesn't matter. ;D ))

Onas was simply wandering with absolutely nothing to do. He wanted to try to find someone who could teach him how to wield a weapon like a spear. He had visions of him at night, with a spear, being a glorious warrior, but... He didn't even know how to go about choosing a weapon suited for him.

Rubbing the back of his head, he'd wandered to one of the nearby beaches and was surprised to find a female here. He blinked and canted his head. Onas hadn't ever encountered a female on his wandering before. First time for everything he supposed.

And more than that, she had a spear-like weapon. It wasn't actually a spear, it was a trident, but it was basically the same movements.

He stayed there, putting his hands behind his back, watching her.

Ryhga popped an eye open to see who had approached and closed it slowly again once the danger had been accessed as nothing. Even then, when Alassiel shifted her body she spotted the water boy watching her and she paused to straighten herself out from a jab. She planted her trident into the sand and took a deep breath, she was close to panting so a small break would be nice. Ally waved to him.

“Hey there,” she called to him. Sometimes people liked to join in, others liked lessons, but rarely did they just stop and watch. At least that was her experience with most people who showed up.

The boy from Matori ran his fingers around his fins and then felt them twitch at the touch. He didn't actually like people touching him there. Still, his eyes settled on that woman ahead.

She noticed him and seemed to work herself into a bit of a break from her routine rather than just stopping, which was good. Onas figured just stopping was bad for your body. Like runners after a long run, you jogged and then walked, and stretched it off. You didn't just stop.

He pushed his braids off his shoulders in a very delicate, feminine way before waving.

"Please, ignore me," he murmured. "I was just watching. Trying to pick things up."

“Trying to pick things up hm?” It was a little hard to ignore a pair eyes boring a hole into you as every single little detail was taken in. “Are you looking to pick up the trident?” Alassiel couldn’t see another reason why anyone would want to watch her so intently. He seemed to be around Ziel’s age and was probably looking around to see what kind of weapon would best fit him. Turning her body, she pulled the trident out of the stand and walked closer, extending it towards him. “You’re more than welcome to give it a try if you like.”

"Spear," he said a bit sheepishly. He hadn't expected her to notice him. Then again, he wasn't being very discreet with his staring and studying. He licked his lips and put his hands behind his back to appear like he was nonchalant about everything, but he was tensing up. Onas wasn't sure how anyone would react to having their fighting method studied so hard.

"...Are you sure?" She extended the trident to him and slowly he stepped forward. His fingers grasped the handle and closed both hands around it, feeling the weight. "Heavier than I expected it to be, honestly.."

“Training will eventually build up some muscle in your arms and back, your spear will get lighter and lighter as you progress,” Alassiel gave a definitive nod. She’d always thought her parents tridents had been heavy until she’d begun her training, as she trained and got older they got a lot lighter. It was nice because she was able to do other things and learn new ways of wielding her trident, even now twisting and turning the trident around her body was something she had previously not been able to do.

The Shifter stepped back a bit, “Alright, why don’t you try and give a few jabs so I can see how you hold yourself up?” She wanted to see not only his grip on the weapon but also his stance. If she got him started on a good foot then he’d be able to continue with a good base from this point on. It would serve him well in the future.

He was a little flustered now. She was going to examine him closely and that just clicked. His cheeks turned an interesting shade since he was blushing now. The grip on her trident tightened to almost white knuckles as Onas awkwardly started to move himself to try to counter balance the weight. His feet were apart, very wide. His knees were bent and he realized the bottom of the trident had hit the ground behind him as he moved in to give a few jabs.

In all honestly Onas didn't know where to actually grab the weapon.

"I'm afraid, uh.. I'm not.. really good?"

Alassiel chuckled softly before approaching him.

“Your feet are too far apart, try just shoulder length. You need to be grounded and be able to move with the trident.” She made her own stance and showed him the difference before moving around him while moving her feet. “See how easy it is to move at this length?” she stopped in front of him and smiled. “It’ll take practice but you’ll get it with a lot more practice.”

“As for the trident,” Alassiel closed in and gently shifted his hands into place. “How does that feel?” Such a long weapon was to be an extension of one’s self, while she’d showed him where she held the trident; he would have to learn his own way. “Your hold on your weapon will change, this trident is made for me but if you had the same experience you might want something heavier. You’d have a lot more arm and back muscles then I do. And of course, if you decide to go with something other than trident that will be different too.”

“But we’re just practicing so there a lot of ifs and butts but this is still good practice.”

Slowly he fixed his legs, standing a bit taller, feet shoulder width apart. Then he started to try to move his own feet around and it wasn't as easy with a heavy trident he wasn't used to. Swallowing a little more, he kept himself still while she shifted his hands, the weight evened out and Onas's eyes widened before he nodded.

"This works. It doesn't feel like I'm going to be toppled over,' he said to her, nodding. He hadn't been holding it that long and he could feel his arm muscles starting to burn. He was really out of shape. Swallowing and flushing at that realization, the Matori Prentice nodded at her words.

"It's definitely helping me see I need to train more."

Alassiel gave him a good hearty tap on the shoulder. “Yup, holding a real weapon tends to do that to you,” she remembered quite well being even more out of shape than Onas himself when she started out. “You’re still young, work those muscles and your hard work will be rewarded once you get older.” Smiling, Alassiel went over to her bag a few feet away and went to get some of the clipping sticks she’d gotten from Z’ran.

“Here want to practice actually fighting with these?” She began putting them together and planted one into the sand for him once she was done and constructed ours. “These are great when you have a partner.” Once she was finished with hers, she twirled it around her body with ease. Shorter and lighter meant easier to manipulate.

Onas watched as she twisted and turned the constructed pole. Finally the Matori male rubbed his nose and gave her the trident back before reaching for the clipping sticks and hummed. He could seriously learn how to use this. Onas's head tipped to one side and then the other before trying to also flip it and twist it like she did.

It was clumsy, but there was some natural talent there. "These... Are really light. I like this a lot."

Alassiel smiled and chuckled when she saw him trying to also spin the pole. He would be good, but he needed a bit more time.

“Good, now take up your stance. You’re going to block. I’ll call out where I am about to strike. Once you have that down, I’ll stop calling out. You have to be able to read your opponent.” Alassiel paused, bent a bit at the knees and stared him down. “Ready?” She didn’t want to catch him off guard on the first hit and she didn’t want to teach him how to block either. He would learn his own technics over time, everyone was different.

Well they were just going to get right to this weren't they? Good. Onas didn't like waiting around for things to happen.

So he took up his stance, trying to remember what she said and how she helped him. Taking a deep breath, he held the lighter pole tightly and nodded.

"I think I am ready."

He was going to get blisters. Onas's hands were going to be sore for a while, but it'd be the good kind. The kind where he knew that he'd done something to further himself and learned to protect himself if he was ever attacked.

"Let's go."

“Up!” Alassiel said loudly before turning and bringing the pole down on his head. She made sure to keep an eye out though in case he couldn’t block so that she could stop her attacks before hurting him. She didn’t want to accidently hit him in the head or anything.

“Low sweep!” This was a move meant to throw your opponent off his feet; she bent low sweeping the pole with one hand about knee level.

“Jab!” Now this one was tricky, so Alassiel made sure to be extra careful as she got back up from her low sweep and went in for a jab right to the middle of his chest. The other moves could have been parried easily without having to move, but this one Alassiel knew his feet were bound to move him to the side.
