Magic in Kahikina
How it Manifests in Kahikina
The people of Kahikina are sometimes born with a little something extra. They can have an affinity for magic, a little perk that can make their life easier, or even sometimes harder. These little bits of magic are small and not flashy or powerful, but pop up randomly from time to time in individual Kahikinans.
These flares of magic manifest in a person’s life, but they do not get stronger with age. The gifts are usually small, and require staff approval to make sure that it isn’t something considered too powerful to exist in Kahikina.
Types of Magic
- Fire - Those with an affinity for fire magic may be able to light a small flame on the tip of their fingers, much like a lighter. Others may be able to just heat up objects that they touch, or even blow small clouds of smoke for brief intervals.
Water - Those with an affinity for water magic may be able to blow squirts of water even when on land, or maybe they can cool down the things they touch. Others might be able to swirl the water around them with a small wave of their hand.
Air - Those with an affinity for air magic might be able to create small pockets of air underwater. Others may be able to blow bubbles under the water, even without visiting the water’s surface first.
Earth - Those with an affinity for earth magic might be more attuned to plants, and are able to coax them to grow a little faster, or maybe a little larger than normal. Others may be able to soften hard earth into clay, or harden the clay they work with to avoid breaking, or maybe they can feel when something is in the earth, able to locate a tasty snack just under the surface.
Clairvoyance - Those with the ability of clairvoyance may get a chill or a feeling when something otherworldly is around, or maybe they get the feeling of Deja Vu more than what others would consider normal. Some may be able to touch an object and get a brief glimpse of the face of its latest owner.
Enchanting - Those with the ability of enchantment may be able to add a little extra umph into their herbal remedies, or maybe they can feel a little hum of life from the objects around them.
How to see if a character is Magically Inclined
Magic is not something that a person can learn in Kahikina, it’s something that they have to be born with. These little gifts can be announced in this thread using the dice system.
|| If you would like to see if your character is magically inclined, roll 1d20
|| If the number rolled is a 1, 10, or 20, they have magic within them
|| If it is any other number, they don’t have the ability for magic.
|| Once it is determined, if the character is able to use magic, the owner must pick one gift for the character. Those that are available are listed above.
|| Each gift is listed with some examples of specific things that can be done, feel free to pick one from the list or create your own pending staff approval.
