There was a noticeable bounce in her step as she walked the market streets of Oba's large city. It was the first time her mother had allowed her to do something on her own! Of course Masika was with her adopted little sister as well but for once she was the older child put in charge! Why? Because her mother was trying to get something for Keket! The hybrid loved it! Responsibility! As she followed the fire and water mixed darling in front of her she was busy thinking about what she wanted to get for herself to take along the journey. Everything was going through her mind. What the weather would be like, what shoes she might get, even if she could wear a nice dress! The everlasting smile on her face broke when she realized that she had lost sight of Valharii. "Oh no!" A groan escaped her and she started to look around and even checked under the vendor tables. Where had the girl gone? Didn't she know that they would be leaving soon? "Valharii!" She called the young one's name and started to look around some more. When that turned up nothing she headed for the nearest person that looked like they had some authority. A male Oban. "Excuse me sir? I was wondering if you could help me?"

Saraf turned as he heard someone calling after him, referring to him as 'sir' and asking for help. He turned slowly to look toward the girl, one that appeared to be a teen if he had to guess, and for a moment he found himself starring. What... in the name of Nerad's beard was she? He gave her a once over, deciding that she a mix of those giant amazons from the North and the Matori, a strange mix indeed, but one that was asking him for help nevertheless. Just as with everything else that was going on of late he was more then certain that the Gods and Goddesses were continuing to test him. One test after another, allowing him to try to make up for his temper and the problems he knew that it caused. Taking in a breath he found himself asking, "Help with?" Best that he figured out what the girl was needing help with and if it was even something that he could help with. Perhaps she was lost? She didn't exactly look like the sort that lived in the area... though after meeting Arima he supposed that he couldn't just assume based on someone's looks where they may or may not live these days.

With the man turning to look at her she too had to stare for a moment. He almost had a hairstyle similar to her mothers! Did that make him like Rishime? Quickly remembering that it was impolite to stare she smiled up at him when he asked what it was she needed help with. "I'm sorry to bother you, sir, but my adopted sister kinda ran off on me." Not her finest hour for sure. Masika even had the decency to look ashamed. "Where would I be able to find a place that abandoned Matori and Oban hybrids hang out?" Her request was odd, even to her own ears, but it was the only place she could think of that Valharii would run off to. It was familiar and possibly where some of her friends were. Masika didn't think she would really go anywhere else. Turning her head to look around the area once more she double checked to make sure that her little sibling wasn't playing a prank on her.

That had to be the weirdest question that he could recall hearing for a while. Was there a play where a little halfbreed would go to hang out? He gave a slow shake of his head before he said, "I can't really think of anywhere that really fits that exact description..." Why would a place that specfic even exist? After a moment he added, "Now a place that a child might go around here..." He gave a thoughtful sound, going over what was in the area that would draw a the attention of a child as they were wandering around. Only one place really came to him. After giving a nod over the thought he said, "Not far from here, a block or two, is a woman that sells rather fancy perzi kittens. If your sister is one that like cats then I would suggest checking there for her." It made sense to him at least, so here was to hoping that would be enough to help her find her missing sister. While Saraf wasn't the nicest of people at times that didn't mean that he wanted some random child wandering around lost. Especially when there was a chance something might happen, which would only give the Obans a bad rep, as though a child couldn't get hurt anywhere else in the world.

She seemed deflated when he stated that he knew of no such place in the area. Masika had hoped it would be easy to find her little sister. But all was not lost! The man said there was a woman not far from where they stood that sold kittens! "Oh! That might be where she is. Our Muma has a Perzi." Looking determined she put a loose fist in her other hand and turned to start walking away. Then it dawned on her. The alk hybrid giggled and turned back to the man. "Sorry, which way did you say it was?" Masika wanted to make sure she hadn't ignored directions because she wasn't sure which way to go. Then, since she was still speaking with the man for now she gave him another smile. "If you don't mind my asking, which path did you choose to follow?" She expected to hear some Alkidike class come from his lips. She'd not really seen someone with that type of hairstyle and follow the earthling ways.

Turning on his heel Saraf started back on his way as the girl seemed to like the suggestion that he'd given to her. He made about two steps before she was suddenly asking which way again it was. Lifting a hand he pointed toward a wide, though somewhat busy path that would bring her to where the breeder was located, "You can miss them. The kittens are running around in a little pen in front of the booth and the woman in charge is pretty loud when it comes to calling people to come see the kittens." Even a stranger wouldn't miss that... right? Eesh, or would she? Here was to hoping or he felt as though she might seek him out again. Again he took a step forward.. and again he was stopped by the girl who was now asking him about which 'path' he'd followed. It was something that caused him to look over at her, a quizzical look on his face, "Path...? I just pointed out the best path to take to get there."

She looked in the direction that the man pointed and grinned. Well at least now she knew where to look for her sister. But when the man seemed to misunderstand her question she turned back to him and giggled yet again. "No, not a foot path.. life path. My Muma chose to become an Amazon. Is that what you are?" Masika gently pointed to the man's hair, clearly in awe of it. She had always admired the dreads her mother wore but could never bring herself to put them in her hair. The girl was too fond of brushing her long hair out and watching it shine in the sunlight. Plus she could do so much more with it!

Saraf found himself starring, his eyes filling with a moment of confusion, then narrowed slightly as he found himself wondering if the girl was attempt to taunt him. An amazon, him? He starred for a long moment, taking in a deep breath to keep his temper in check before he said, "No. I am a swordsman, not an amazon." He said, lifting a hand to pat it against the great sword that hung on his back. Why she would think him an amazon made zero sense to Saraf and made him want to snap at her that he wasn't an amazon or a woman... but given that this was an obvious test step upon him by the God of Judgement he would keep it together. Lifting a hand to wave it at the girl in a dismissive manner he said, "Shouldn't you go and find your missing sibling? Aren't you afraid she will wander off further then the kittens?" Surely finding her sibling must be more important to her then picking a fight with an Oban? That was his hope at least.

Masika looked at his sword and then smiled at him. The look she gave Saraf was one of admiration. "I thought I was the only one that followed an earthling class." She giggled even more then got closer to the Oban man to give him a hug. Clearly his hairstyle had her confused as to what he was. In the process of snuggling him she looked up into Saraf's face. He even had the lip rings like her mother did. "Aisha must have sent you as a sign." Though the more Masika looked at him the more she noticed that he lacked any other signs of Alkidike heritage. Perhaps he was different in other ways? Some that she couldn't see? After all, it wasn't like he was naked and she could see if he had markings elsewhere. So she finally pulled away from him, her smile still in place as she looked at him. "My name is Masika. Would you mind helping me to find Valharii? I would love for you to meet my Muma."

"You're messing with me, aren't you? Look kid, I am doing my best to remain peaceful, to prove to the great Nerad that I can keep myself calm, but you're mocking is starting to test my patience a bit." He told her, wanting nothing more then to just leave the girl here and go on his way. He was starting to think that she was enjoying toying with him, acting as though he were... what? A member of the Alkidike tribe or something? Why would she even... his swirling thoughts came to a halt as he recalled his hair. The fact that the Obans had hair similar to the Alkidike was why she was doing this? Shaking his head he said, "I have no idea who Aisha is. I highly down that he or she sent you to me." He told her, before he said, "It was obvious that Nerad sent you here." Very, very obvious to him that was. Giving a heavy sigh Saraf lifted a hand, rubbing it against his face, "Masika... I have zero interested in meeting your mother but if it ends my torment faster then I will lead you as far as the perzi shop. After that I will be on my way, I have work to do today."

Messing with him? She looked as confused as he did then. "I'm not.. Oh! You.. You're not a hybrid.. are you?" Masika paled as she looked up at Saraf. She'd made a big mistake and had likely insulted him in some way! Most purebloods didn't like the idea of hybrids, let alone being called one. So she stepped back from him even more, her face and ears turning a pinkish purple. "I'm so sorry. I didn't mean to offend you. I have just never seen a non-Alk with dreads." Now Masika felt a bit mortified. Lowering her head she did her best to show that she was apologetic. When the man said he would take her to the Perzi shop she looked up at him a bit surprised but shook her head softly. "Oh, No.. It's fine. You've done more than enough to help. Again, I'm sorry for the misunderstanding." Oh how her face felt like it was on fire.

Saraf stood up straighter, puffing up slightly with annoyance, "Hybrid? Me? No... I am pure a pure blooded member of the Fire Tribe." He said, doing his best to keep from snapping at her for that sort of mistake. Instead though he dragged in a breath, holding it for an extra long time, counting in his head before he said, "I would suggest being more careful with your assumptions or you're going to run across someone that isn't as kind as I am." Well, someone as kind as he was attempting to be presently that was. "We Obans enjoy the style just as much as anyone." Best to leave it as that he thought to himself in a thoughtful manner before he watched her as she tried to escape, saying that she didn't help now. So all he had to do to get the other tribes to run off was to let them embarrass themselves? An interesting strategy but not one that would be easy to pull off unless the one that was bothering him was as blindly naive as this one. "You're going to do it yourself?" Good, let her go he found himself thinking, feeling that he should just let her go... though he might end up failing his test. Realizing that he sighed before he asked, "You think you can get there without getting lost as well?"

She saw him puff up and stepped back. Masika hadn't inherited her mother's height so she was short compared to the man. Especially since he was clearly older. The poor girl feared she had upset the man without even meaning to. A fact that would have had her in tears but she held them back. This guy looked like tears would offend him too. She nodded her head, keeping quiet as she backed away from him again, then gave a quick bow and a muttered thanks before she turned and did her best to move away quickly. One of Masika's hands went to her chest as her heart was going wild. Moving her feet quickly she made it to the woman that sold the kittens and looked around. Sadly, Valharii wasn't there. The hybrid let her antennae droop as she turned around and tried to see if her sister might be across the street. Deflated she simply stood there.

Saraf let the girl go on her way, taking a few steps in the other direction, wanting to get back to what he'd been doing... but found himself coming up short. Giving a heavy, long suffering sigh he turned around and followed along after the girl. Would she even be able to do anything? Would she even find the girl or would she end up lost? He didn't care... did he? Hard to say but given that he was the last one seen with her it would end up a mess if she got lost along with her sister and neither were ever seen again. He couldn't really allow that or it would just be a hassle for him later. He really didn't want to deal with any inquiries that might mess with his rise in the ranks of the Oban army. As he followed along after the strange girl he found himself watching her as she got to where the woman sold the kittens and then just stood there dumbly. It was something that had him starring for a long moment, lifting a hand to rub his temples with one had before he said, "Now you're supposed to to ask the woman that is selling the kittens if she saw your missing sibling and what way she went if she did." He told Masika in a monotone manner.

The voice of the Oban man caused her to jump a little. Masika didn't think he would have followed her, nor that he would want to offer any more help to her. Still, his suggestion made sense. If her sister had been here then the woman would have seen her. She turned her eyes toward Saraf and nodded at him silently before going up to the woman and asking about Valharii. Masika described the youngling as best as she could but the woman shook her head. With a sigh she came back to the spot she had been at. "She wasn't here.." Her voice was quiet as she told the news to the Oban man. "I think I should find my Muma and let her know." Masika knew her mother would know what to do. She always did.
