It had been another long day, and the little fire balls of the night sky had once more make their appearance. And though the tactician's thoughts never stilled, even in the quiet of night, her thought where now only made heavy with the loneliness and memory her heart carried.
Taking in a deep breath, Xian shifted from her resting place and carefully gathered up her fan. Quietly the elegant Nahtil slipped from the camp. Careful light and dark paws carried her forward and deeper into the night.
Delicately fan covered her maw as she found a quiet place that was away from the camp. Xian had made it a skill in finding a private place to meditate and think, at every new camp. It was always somewhere quiet as well as private to think about him, and the path they have decided to take.
Quietly, Xian lowered her hunches to the heated earth, delicate tail shifted and curled around her body and legs. And just as every night the paw forged fan floated and shifted in front of her maw in a careful repetitive wave.

Xian was not alone for long. Within moments of her arrival the soft padding of feet and the gentle chime of armor whispered along the path behind her. Volga had the same idea often, to go alone and contemplate many things. The loss of a dear friend had yet to relieve him of his grief. A nan had found her way to his heart, but there is something about the loss of a great friend that still held a hollow hole in his heart and mind.
"Deep in thought?" Volga spoke softly as he approached.
This was the first time he had encountered anyone else on the hill, and he couldn't have been more relieved at who it was. At last Xian was reserved. She would not press too terrible questions on him. Not ones that did not come without thought anyways.
"Or planning our next move?"

Looking up to the stars, Xian released a sigh as her careful gaze caught a bright star that was cluster among a sea of others. It burned and shown so brightly the other dim stars around it seemed to draw closer to it as if to gain some of it's glow, or as if to help show the way.
This was her path, she had chosen it, it was right. It was felt strongly between her and him. As the soft shifting of armor whispered and caused her ear to turn past crimson locks.
The fanned stilled in its waving, Xian's head only turned slightly so her ear to shift more towards the new sound. Quickly her thoughts put together who it might have been, but the sound of their movements. The spirit was a Tahtill, and the shifting of armor with how soft and steady it was, she knew it to only be one other. The Tahtill, almost carried the same sound as Oni when he walked, it was a like but different.
Volga's voice only confirmed who she knew it to be.
A sly smile carefully pulled and revealed it's self on her maw.
"I can not plan anything that has not already been set before us." The Tactician spoke, the fan still remained still at her maw. It's scent was taken in by a careful draw of her maw.
"The choice has really never been mine, but the shinning star's that is among us." Xian spoke as her head turned to looked back at Volga with a pleasant and inviting smile. She would not address why she was there and in thought, it didn't need to be known, or should be known among some.

Volga's lips pursed as he hummed and turned his nose to the sky. The Stars were as they always were, twinkling and watching the land below without the slightest care. Nothing affected them. They were always there, even after a storm.
"Hmn, the stars are the same regardless of what we do below them. I would rather think we are all responsible for our own paths, even those who say a star guided them forward." Volga grinned. He knew of what star she spoke.
Once again he hummed thoughtfully. The tip of his tail twitched slightly while he thought more about the lot that they had been cast.
"Now, a young cub, I believe, can sway the heart of even a might beast."

"Then I would say, you are indeed free to think that." Xian answered with a smile and a soft chuckle that was sweet to even the mutest of ears. Light tail shifted and swayed elegantly behind her. The Nahtil didn't given a hint to any agreement to his words or not. Playfully of course.
"I believe, he has the will to do so if he so chooses." Xian added keeping maw with her gentle smile, though a soft sigh rested was in words. It was so light, that if one didn't know the heaviness of her heart they wouldn't have heard it.
Everything they where doing and hoping for rested on the choice of the cub they taught and raised.
He was such a sweet cub, though...However sweet he was, he would still have to grow and make vary adult choices.and all choices, adult or not-had consequences. Good and bad.

Volga didn't respond quickly to her last statement. Instead he remained silent in thought while watching the stars glare back at them. The grin had for that moment vanished.
A deep breath filled his lungs and expanded his chest. On the long exhale the grin returned.
"If he chooses. He is still a cub... and I would hope that he can be one for at least a bit more." Though spoken with a grin, his words carried a grim topic. From what he knew of the cub and what must be done, he did not wish that would be the fate of one so young.
"But what of you? What are you finding in the stars tonight?"

"Of course, Tah Volga." However, Ignorance wasn't something she was going to support. The Elegant Nahtil lightly smile and gently nodded her head, she knew Volga agreed to such things. It was however Ironic, considering what the cub's teacher did want to keep hidden from the cub, and among others. It was selfish to think or even nature special treatment and bias for the ones she left behind at the capital. Most everybalam in their group had left a something special, that made the capital 'home'. Yet, the cub...he hadn't even set his eyes on such a place and didn't have a 'home'. How foolish and desperate of them to ask so much of a cub to fight and reclaim something he hadn't even seen or experienced. It wasn't his 'home'....
Xian's yellow eyes raised from her thoughts to the glistening stars above as Volga spoke of them once more.
"One would first have to be searching them to find something..." The words left the Nahtil's maw simply. Her eyes closed and the fan that still rested at her chest shifted a little in a mild wave. Dark and white tail shifted just ever so slightly behind her careful sit. She hadn't been looking at the stars, the white, red and blue sparkles were nothing more then a curtain to hide were her thought and gaze really rested.

Volga only offered a chuckle to her response. "Than you already have found it."
He glanced up toward the stars and made some quick observations, some clusters looked like something if one put an invisible line between them. That one looked like a running b'alam, that one a mountain... With a quiet breath he returned his sights to Xian.
"If we are fortunate, perhaps your star will have found a better place to shine." Volga offered, knowing full well that was not likely the case. A true warrior did not abandon their post.

The Nahtlil maw parted in more of a toothy smile, one that meekly peeked from behind the cherished fan. Yellow crystal eyes slipped over to look more fully at the armored Tahtll.
"Perhaps..." Xian answered softly, the fan shifted a little in thought. A soft sigh left the Nahtlil.
" However, it's unlikely, " The Nahtlil's smile fell ever so slightly, as she turned to look at the sky once more.
" it's the same name sky." She added. However it also meant, that there was a chance that the star at times wouldn't be that far....
Perhaps....
"I do hope we are fortunate." Xian stated even more softly, the fan stilled as the Nahtlil's head turned toward Volga. Her voice's tone sank ever so slightly. There was a chance for hope to fail.

Volga shrugged. "To be honest, it has nothing to do with fortune."
He gave the stars one more look before returning all of his attention to Xian. Dust kicked up around his tail as it swayed to and fro, close to the ground. A small grinned formed on his maw.
"It has to do with skills and motivation." He answered, knowing full well what Xian was talking about. "And I am sure he has the same confidence in your skills and no doubt about your motivation."
He took in a deep breath. Comfort was not something he excelled in particularly, but for Xian he was willing to try.
"I know what a warrior looks like, you can see their intentions in their eyes."

A pleasant, yet coy smile slipped across Xian's maw. There was no misdirecting Volga, he didn't believe in luck or fortune and nor did she. He also was one of the few, if not the only one to know about what she had left at the capital. That, and she knew that she wasn't alone in leaving something special behind
Gold eyes turned to look at the warrior beside her, she would say that it sound like he had been listening in on her lessons with the cub. However, she knew better Volga was a skilled and experience b'alam. One she was happy to call a friend.
"Yes." Xian answered with a smile, one that stretched fully across her maw and tugged her eyes peacefully closed.
White pristine tail shifted in a subtle tick behind her her.
"And I am content in what I see in our young lord's bright eyes." The Nahtlil sighed, the thought was comforting. In a way, if they taught and directed the cub in a way that was noble and right. They would have a paw in guiding him in a direction, when he was grown, he determined was right. There was some solace in that....
"Thank you, Tah Volga." The Tactician smiled sincerely. She could sense that he was doing his best to comfort her, and admittedly it did help a lot.
"Have we..." Xian's ears shifted about as if to make sure no one else was around. She paused as she thought better of her words. In no way, she wanted to cause something to happen to his something special.
"seen any smoke on the wind, yet?" The Nahtlil, choose her words carefully. She hadn't sensed anyone nearby other then Volga, but it wasn't worth the risk. So, Xian probed at a better way of asking, if he had heard anything from home....

Volga had not been talking about the cub, however he purposely chose not to correct her. Had she wanted to talk about Oni she would have said so. There was no doubt in Volga's mind that she knew what he was talking about, but purposefully guiding the conversation. She was, after all, a tactician.
For the first time, Volga looked away and toward the horizon, toward the Capitol where the enemy rest. For a moment his brow furrowed.
"None... There has been silence. Which, for now, is a blessing in some form." Volga turned his attention back to Xian. "However, the silence has been so long I am beginning to wonder if they too have something up their paws."
He grinned. NOw was also not the time for despair.
"But they lack a good strategist, that I am sure."
It wasn't that he was under estimating them, no, he was trying in some way to cheer Xian.

Long white elegant tail moved the carefully crafted fan in a light wave. Golden eyes looked back over to Volga, as he set his eyes on the horizon and fire capital. The Crane had been indeed thinking of her yoltiza, and if she was open with others about her thoughts; Xian could easily admit there was rarely a moment when she wasn't thinking of her Oni.
Slowly the fan was lowered to rest at her chest. Slowly it raised to take in a breath, and just as softly it as released quietly from her maw. Poised gaze returned to set themselves on the same horizon as Tah Volga. It hadn't been anything personal toward her friend Volga, with her unwillingness to speak of her mate. It simply, didn't seem fruitful to do such a thing. He, Volga was apart of a very exclusive club, that did know that she had been spiritually bound to the Fire Tribe General.
'None...'
Dark ears shifted Xian expected as much, though she thought it fair to ask. That and it did well to attempt the impossible and distract her calculating thoughts.
"It would almost be insulting, if they didn't." The Tactician smiled coyly.
A bright and laugh left the Nahtlil, in hearing Volga's complimenting words. It was laughter of joy, at her friend doing his best to cheer her up. White fan was pressed gently and firmly to her chest, he head tilted down. Yellow eyes closed in the amusement of the comment. She knew it wasn't something he was use to doing. However, for one that didn't do it often, he was doing quiet well.
"It would be foolish to think they not." The Nahtlil smiled. "Tah Volga, you are too kind." Xian smiled sweetly with a slight tilt of her head. Her voice as always was as pleasent as a bright chiming bell.
"Though, If they would have someb'alam..." The Nahtlil went on to speak. "I am sure they wouldn't know what to call them." She added thoughtfully.
"Tah, Volga." Xian spoke and turned her attention back fully on the Tahtll. "Thank you, may the Weaver Bless, you are a good friend."

"They have already insulted us, and anyone who says they hold the great fire mountain sacrid." Volga shrugged, not caring much for the super natural. His great friend had once said that 'he was the mountain', and there-in lays the insult.
Volga's lips thinned a moment as he thought more about how everything had gone down. Despite many saying Vulknus was a traitor, or perhaps thinking it, Volga wanted to believe there was a reason for his disappearance.
The wild grin slowly returned to his maw. He didn't like others to see him frustrated.
"Oh, he has, I am sure. Which is why I must never get lazy." Volga responded. "You going to spend the rest of your time up here?"
