Mathilda rubbed the back of her hands. It had been a since she had used her daggers this often, and with such harshness, but these birds were tough and a simple toss wouldn't do. She was using the full extent of her arms, and moving back and forth retrieving her daggers was beginning to cramp her legs. She had tried lunges, but the lack of training for such harsh conditions was taking its toll. Plus, it was cold, and that was not good for muscles. For a while, Mathilda had walked around the hotel, regulating her breathing and calming her body down. She needed to find a partner to spar with, and preferably soon, before anymore big battles. Glancing around, Mathilda smiled when she had found Marisol. Calling out the girl's name, she approached her and after a bit of catching up, had asked her of a friendly spar. Now, leaving her hands alone for now, she rolled her shoulders, prepping for the fight. She had managed to find a small clear with thick enough bushes that would hopefully keep the birds out. Continuing her exercises, she waited for Marisol. wc:190

The cold wasn't her ideal place to practice but she had to give credit to Mathilda. It was where they'd been fighting birds and unless the environment change, practicing outside where the battles would be taking place was certainly wise. Still, she'd stopped to double check that her clothing was going to last through a spar. The light sweater she'd worn in the beginning was getting knicked through the fur coat--though the coat itself seemed to be holding up so far. She'd had to borrow a sweater from a half empty case of clothes in the room she'd decided to bunk in. This sweater was much thicker and had a cowl in the neckline that would at least keep the wind from bothering her. Walking into the clearing, whip curled in her right hand, she lifted her left arm to wave at Mathilda. She'd taken the time to stretch beforehand and felt relatively loose now that was about to spar with this woman again. They seemed to have developed a nice working relationship so far. Neither felt the need to hold back or that they were too good a fighter to be challenged, yet if they failed to do well they knew that it was more of something that just happened. "You should be a location scout," Marisol greeted. "This might be one of the last few nice spots that aren't overrun by those creatures. Almost paradise," she winked. Seeing the snow fall, Mathilda knew that it might take Marisol a while. Feeling her body loosen, she removed her dagger, examining the blade. She would have to discuss the mechanics of the fight, since neither had practice weapons, and any damage they would take would impact their chances against the birds. Gently running her finger down the blade, she noticed that, despite the metal the birds seem to be made of, her blade wasn't nicked. Twirling it between her fingers, she nodded when she saw Marisol enter the clearing. "Ah! You made it!" Slipping the dagger in her boot, she walked up to the girl. "Location scout, huh? Maybe, depends on my day job. You know. Fighting these birds." She laughed. "So, I realized that neither of us have training weapons. However, I think we can make do by pulling punches, so to say. Aim to hit, but a little to the left or right, or stop before hand. That work with you? We'll still count its as hits, but not actually do any damage!" Mathilda's Health: 50 HP Initiative:

"That will work fine," she agreed. Out here it would be hard to keep weapons wrapped and she trusted they were both practiced enough that they wouldn't accidentally hit one another. It helped that they knew each other to the point neither would try to do so purposefully either. "These birds make everything difficult," she added to the part of the conversation she'd skipped over in listening to Mathilda's idea to prevent any real damage. "It's a wonder we haven't been carried off to the Wicked Witch!" (Okay so those had been monkeys but the sentiment still stood!) "Ready for this?" She gave ample notice of her attack. Practiced though she was, she still overestimated the distance and it was clear that the whip's location was far enough away and then some. The strike to the air lacked power and she doubted it would do anything more than sting if it had actually hit the woman. "A little too lightly, there," she expressed. "What's your favorite color?" she asked; they might as well make conversation. Marisol's Health: 47 HP Damage Dealt: (50% x 4) = 2 DMG

"I think I would prefer the Witch than these birds!" Anything was better than these birds, anything. Just the thought of them made her angry. "They seriously never end!" Noticing Marisol prep her whip, Mathilda studied the weapon. It was interesting that the woman chose a whip. Whips packed a punch when they hit, but they still had a lot of room for error. The amount of energy it took to wield one was amazing. Mathilda applauded the woman's skill. Hearing the girl announce her attack, she responded cheerfully. "Yep! Bring it!" She watch the whip incoming and dodged accordingly. the whip collided sharply with the snow, leaving an imprint. "Nice! Here I come!" Mathilda ran forward and swung out her dagger, stopping short of Marisol's arm. "Black! I think most of my closet is black. Yours? And, hm, theme song?" Mathilda's Health: 48 HP Damage Dealt: 4

"I don't own bedazzled slippers or a dog," she chuckled, "which means that witch isn't very scary. It helps that my name isn't Dorothy." The other woman was quick with her attack and Marisol had to stomp on the urge to dodge. That would only increase the odds of getting hurt and it wouldn't be in either of their favors to do that. Instead she stood, poised and smiling, as she stopped on a dime. If that had been a real attack, it would have hurt. "Black does go with everything," she agreed with a thought, as she readied her next attack. With a twist of her hips, she cracked the whip towards the woman's left side. The crack was sharp and it avoided actually hitting her opponent. "Green is my favorite by far though I don't often wear it," she decided. If anything she had a fondness for white in her clothing although she wore plenty of color, whether it was pale or vibrant jewel tones. A theme song was harder to decide but she couldn't help the first song that popped into her head. With a laugh, she began to repeat it, "Thank you for being a friend. Golden Girls is impossible to forget." She chuckled, "What's yours? And..." a hum as she considered, "Favorite music?" Marisol's Health: 47 - 4 = 43 HP Damage Dealt: (200% x 4) = 8 DMG

"That it does!" She hated wearing white, or any other color really. Anything but black could be easily seen in the dark, and made it hard to hide. However, right now, white was her friend, as it hid her somewhat against the snow background. Of course, she still had her black tank and pants underneath her snow pants and jacket. "Green, huh. Interesting. Think green is tied for blue with my favorite shade variety. I do like emeralds though." Noticing Marisol aim left, she didn't move, but swayed her body away from he cracking whip. "Any chance you're a fan of Indiana Jones?" Laughing, she waited for Marisol to roil the whip, before walking up to the girl smiling. "It's getting cold don't you think?" Waiting for the girl to relax, Mathilda continued to walk up. When the girl seemed calm, Mathilda thirsted the dagger to the right of her neck, clearing the target by a good six inches. Flicking her hand away, she twirled back, heading back to her spot. "Hm, I think a tie between "Matilda" by alt-j and "Haus Am See" by Peter Fox. Favorite music, however, would be Goth Rock and Steampunk. Bands like Voltaire and The Cog is Dead. The songs tell full stories and I like them. How about you? And, hm, favorite food?" "You might not believe this but I haven't ever seen an Indiana Jones film," she shrugged. Of course there were clips and she had a basic concept but an entire film had never crossed her path. And frankly she had more to do than to seek out anything just because it was popular with the main populace. A chuckle escaped her as the woman asked if it was getting cold, "It's been cold." She didn't even flinch as the dagger was thrust a mere half a foot away from her neck. Instead she watched Mathilda return to her spot and began to plot her next move. "I was going to be broad and say Tchaikovsky but as you've so kindly been specific," she considered, "then I'll have to say the Introduction from Sleeping Beauty. Although Swan Lake is quite lovely, too." As a ballerina, it hardly could be a surprise that her favorites might lean towards classical music she heard often. Not that she didn't have a variety of other favorites but there was something whimsical and comforting about that certain composer. There was a precise ferocity in the next strike. As she raised her arm and then dropped it, quickly, the leather lashed out. The tip snaked past the woman's hip, a crack sounding as it began to snap backwards. "I have to say bread. Whether it's pumpkin bread or Irish soda bread or garlic bread or cheesy bread," she hummed, feeling hunger wake at the listing of such delicious food. "What about your favorite superhero?" Mathilda gasped at Marisol's admission. "Never seen? This calls for a movie night! It's so cheesy and ridiculous. There's a rolling boulder and everything." Laughing, she nodded and hummed at Marisol's music choice. "Sounds lovely, and it sounds like it would suit you very well." Mathilda breathed lightly as the whip cracked at her near hip. years of training kept her from twitching, preventing her from hitting it. "Yep, definitely improving! Nice strike. You could fell a bird with that one!" Smiling, she threw the dagger toward Marisol's leg, the blade missing by a few inches. "Bread is always good! You can do a lot with simple bread recipe. I;m a cake fan myself." Jogging around Marisol for her blade, she paused her lips. "I would have to say, Zatanna. She's quite exciting! How about you, and, let's see...least favorite book?" "We'll have to arrange one, then," she agreed then chuckled softly at the comment of music suiting her. "A side effect of being a ballerina." She grinned at the compliment on her skill with the whip improving, glad to see the both of them seemed to be comfortable with the method they were using. The dagger flew by her leg and she found herself more enthralled with the mention of cake. "That sounds like a great reward for working out," she decided before pushing it aside to focus on her next attack. The good thing about fighting an opponent with only a dagger was that they had little to hide behind. Of course she was trying to miss actually hitting Mathilda so that narrowed down her targets. She opted for cracking the whip off the edge of the woman's left shoulder. "Jean Grey has always stoked my interest," she revealed before falling quiet. Least favorite book, that was a harder subject to narrow down. After a minute of contemplation, "The Picture of Dorian Gray. I'm pretty sure my bookmark is still left on the page where I fell asleep." It was amusing, to her, because while she liked to read, she'd never left a book unfinished or fallen asleep out of sheer boredom before. "How about least favorite Disney movie?" Mathilda nodded and smiled at Marisol's comment. A movie night would be fun. Reflexes kicking in, she dropped her body slightly as the whip cracked near her shoulder. Whips her interesting, and powerful. However, if the whip didn't crack right and the recoil was weak, it could be easily grabbed and used against the opener. Mathilda hummed. "The new Alice In Wonderland series. It's absolutely terrible. The original animated version was by far better." Throwing the dagger at the right side of Marisol's head, Matilda watched the blade sink in the sand. "Coffee? Or tea?" "I always fall asleep during the animated Alice in Wonderland," she chuckled, "though I didn't care for the live action one, either." Come to think of it, she hadn't enjoyed the books either. Perhaps Alice just wasn't for her. The blade flew past her head and she hoped Mathilda would be able to find it in the snow. That was the good thing about a whip, no time spent retrieving it. Although she knew that it was possible to take one. She took careful aim, setting up so that it wouldn't hit the woman. In taking a step forward, she felt her weight shift on the fresh snow and the shot went wider than she intended. It would have done damage, but not much, as the leather gave the woman's knee a wide berth. "Coffee to stay awake, tea to relax." Which was cheating but oh well. "Wine or beer?" "No matter how German I may be, I will always prefer wine, or nothing at all. My mother is French, so maybe that's why." Noticing the gap in Marisol's feet, Mathilda flicked the dagger down. "The action of spinning wine in a glass, legs crossed and glaring, just feels powerful. Plus wine stains the fake looking blonde who insulted you." Laughing, she rolled her shoulders. The cold was really beginning to set in. "Heat or Cold?" Mathilda's Health: 22 HP Damage Dealt: 4 Mathilda's Weapon: Dagger (4 Base; +1 Roll)

She herself wasn't a fan of alcohol though she occasionally partook in a glass of wine. The only place she'd ever found beer of good taste was at home if her father picked it out. Water had always been her beverage of choice. "It's a powerful image," Marisol agreed with a chuckle. The idleness of the battle was beginning to push her off she found, as the aim to Mathilda's right shoulder went a bit wider than she would've preferred. The cold wasn't helping but so far most battle had been faster paced and she found that there was almost a sensation of boredom beginning to pluck at her mind. "Outdoors, heat. Indoors, cold." Heat outside had never bothered her but indoors, she preferred a chill because it far easier to add layers than it was to subtract them.
