Hit points: 25 Damage: 5 each time attacked If you successfully kill this bird, each party involved in the battle gets 10XP and rolls 1d100 to collect loot according to the following: 1-80: You gain nothing but the victory of having beaten this opponent. 81-90: Poisonous Dung: You manage to collect a vial of the vile stuff. It can thrown at an opponent once to poison them, dealing 1 damage for 3 turns. After this it is consumed and leaves your inventory forever. 91-99: Heart's Blood: You manage to collect a vial of the creature's blood. It can be used once to replenish 3 HP, at which point it is consumed and leaves your inventory forever. 100: Metal Feather: Once per battle, you can backstab with this small dagger. Add 2 to your final damage. This item is reusable, and remains in your inventory.

She'd gotten herself a good rest after the last three-on-three battle. It'd ended on a high note at least, even if Tara was inwardly lamenting her poor clothing that were slowly getting covered in patches and haphazard stitching. The logical response to that, she supposed, would be to just stay inside the hotel, help with repairs and cooking, and not fight the metal birds.
But there she was again. She'd actually had the misfortune of being inside the hotel again when a bird got in, or well. Almost got in. It was firing at her from just outside a window where it was trying to break some of the debris that were acting as a barricade for the window. One of its tossed feathers cut her cheek, and Tara managed to grab and ready her bow quickly, firing off a shot that knocked a bunch more feathers off her opponent.

When the bird tossed the dung at her, Tara didn't have the snow to wipe it off. Gagging and worried about the burning sensation she was feeling, she ducked away to grab some scrap cloth, using that to wipe off the smelly s**t and try to clean herself up. Why did these birds have such good aim? Damn them...

This time the bird stuck to the metal feathers, and though it struck Tara's hand, she managed to hold onto her bow and line up another shot. It hit hard, and more feathers clanked and chimed as they fell off and hit various surfaces. The bird screeched, clawing at the barrier in the window, trying to get into the hotel.
Tara huffed and shoved back on the debris, hoping the makeshift structure would hold long enough for her to kill this bird and then reenforce the barrier...

"Ouch!" The bird's talons caught one of her fingers as she tried to hold the structure, and she jerked her hand back, hissing as she looked at the forming p***k of blood. Shaking her hand, she picked her bow back up and got an arrow into place, firing at the bird. The bird managed to move a bit out of the way, causing only a graze against it's body.
A hit, sure, but Tara swore, ducking again a bit behind the barrier. She was almost sure these birds were learning. Maybe they understood that the Chosen were picking off more and more of them, and working to take them out? She had to admit, in their place? She'd do whatever she could, too, to survive.

Tara shoved back on the barrier when the bird tried again to claw its way through, slashing at the debris with its talons and razor wings. She shot another arrow, this time slicing open its side where she'd already knocked off some of the feathers. For her trouble, one of those feathers caught her hand and she hissed at the sharp spark of pain. They weren't horrific injuries, but they could add up fast if she wasn't careful, and it was pretty obvious she wouldn't be out of birds to fight any time soon.

Tara tried to lean a bit out of the barrier to get a better shot at the bird. At least, that had been the plan. Her arrow had only managed to graze the damn thing--it had a lot more room to maneuver away from the debris. Which. Made sense.
It's talon caught her hand and Tara yelped, almost dropping her damn bow out the window but managing to catch it again in time. Glowering at the creature, she knew she shouldn't see this as personal but it was...

She'd pulled herself back from the window, hoping to draw the bird back into more restricted air. The plan worked, and though the bird managed to sling another sharp feather at her, it got mostly tangled in the debris. Screeching, it tried to free itself, but the wood and cloth only got snared further on its sharp feathers.
Tara took the chance, and after lining up the shot, fired her arrow into the creature's chest. It gave a gurgling cry before the body went limp in the barrier. She eyed it a moment, making sure the creature was actually dead, before letting out a breath and relaxing her body a bit.

With the bird's body caught up on the debris, Tara was able to get in close enough to fill another vial of blood. After putting it away, she looked at the odd sight of the bird amongst the debris. And... well. She figured it could work as a warning to other birds.
She worked on adding to the barrier in the window around it, reinforcing the structure and making sure there weren't areas for other birds to claw in or fire in... whatever. But also making sure the other birds could get a glimpse of what their fate held if they kept pushing their luck.
