The trip back from Oban always seemed so peaceful these days. There was no fear for being captured, or held breaths waiting for the lights on shore to go out. If someone saw him, it was fine, no one was hunting them or their missions anymore. Still, Xewai couldn't shake off the uneasiness that came with rowing his canoe along the Oban Shorelines. Certain memories always seemed to come up, especially when the mist clung to the air and the water so closely. Honestly it frightened the young boy just enough that he softly whispered prayers of protection to Ubeli'ae as he rowed through the shallows.

For a brief moment, he could have sworn that Ubeli'ae had answered his prayers with the beautiful lull of music coming from just ahead on shore. But of course, he wasn't so naive to think it was her. Maybe a Siren or a sad minstrel taking solace in the quiet morning. At the very thought, he smiled wide. That, he had to see! Who else would be awake at such an hour?

With a quick beat, he rowed towards the shore, trying to see just exactly who was there sitting on a rock in the mist.

And he paled.

He knew that face... That hair, the eyes... It was so very vivid in his mind, as if it wasn't years and years ago when he last saw them. He couldn't keep his smile up anymore, instead it fell, showing nothing but fear and awe at the sight of the young woman on the shore. Before he could stop it, his canoe struck the sand near her, lodging itself in the mud, and he scrambled out of it to approach her and fall to his knees, still staring.

"It's... It's you... But I... I thought you were dead! H-how are you here...?"

Even though she had traveled Tendaji far and wide the Matori couldn't seem to shake the ocean from her heart. While she couldn't brave the thought of venturing home to face her mother who was traumatized by music the girl could still try and enjoy the ocean time to time. Even now as she traveled through Oba and towards Jahuar Nadiya had found herself wandering closer and closer to the breezes that smelled of salt and water. Then as the morning broke the girl found herself touching the softer sands of the ocean shore.

Even Oba could touch the ocean.

The thought was enough to bring a wistful smile to her face. Surely there was no harm in enjoying the beauty of the deep waters. She wasn't close enough to her hometown to gain attention and was far enough in Oba to keep away from any traders that may recognize her and bring word home as well. In fact, the way that the mist rolled in from the ocean waves was so beautiful and touching that the girl found herself bringing out her flute. When inspired she couldn't resist the lure of a melody. This one, however, was rather haunting as her torn feelings of missing home and needing adventure mixed into one and floated slowly through the crisp air.

As she played the girl perched on a rock that hovered above the shallow ocean waters. On occasion she would even take a moment to flick a pebble into the waters just to hear a splash as it danced away from her. During one such moment she managed to hear the approach of another which startled her into darting back into the sandy shore. He was speaking to her? Frowning with confusion Nadiya's gaze narrowed as she fought to stare through the morning mists. That voice wasn't familiar at all so who was this?

"I'm sorry?" The girl tilted her head with confusion, "I don't believe I've ever been dear nor have I ever seen you?" She offered a small smile as she took a hesitant step forward, "Unless you know something I don't?"

"It was so long ago, I was just... I was a tiny little thing.. You may not have remembered me, but back when there were slaves, when all the Matori were slaves... My group, me... The Buhawi, We were all trying to to get you to freedom. And while we were hiding, you must not remember but... You played music for me... You kept me calm while I was panicking and scared.. And it was my fault... My fault that you.."

There were tears welling up in his eyes as he remembered that night. The fear, the music, the way her arms held him tight.. The way the guards came back and she gave herself up to keep him, a tiny little waif safe. It was one of his few failures, but one that stung him the most. But now she was here... Why was she here?

"I.. You lover.. He made it out.. But I don't know what else happened... I just.. I'm sorry... I didn't mean to get you hurt, I was just a dumb child back then.."
