The Double Black Diamond trail is something of a nightmare. It's extremely steep, with tall trees on either side, and frequent bumps and ramps along the route. It's a trial to climb it all alone, let alone lugging a speaker through the snow. It is the most difficult trail to complete.

To help carry the speaker, roll 1d4; this number is how far you manage to carry it. Roleplay out the lifting, chatting to other people if they're travelling with you, and the exhaustion. After you roll, you're exhausted for 3 OOC hours or until two other people post and roll in this thread, taking the speaker partway up themselves.

Once a total of 100 points is reached through rolls, the speaker is in place, and you can head back down the hill to the safety of the hotel.

Remember, you can only participate in one of these threads at a time, and cannot leave the thread until the speaker has been put into place. Please make sure to put in bold red font, at the end of your post, what the current total is.

Let everyone else take off for one of the easy slopes -- Asher, for his part, went after one of the speakers and started dragging it toward one of the more difficult ones. The truth was that he wasn't much of a carrier, but he was even less of a follower, opting to grumble and swear as he struggled to keep the speaker at least mostly dry.

He didn't make it far. The moguls were impossible, on this hill: meant to be ridden down, not climbed up. He had to pause in the snow, breathing heavily, half-hidden by one of the small mounds so birds wouldn't see him, to catch his breath.

A light touch on his shoulder nearly made him jump and he turned to find Misha smiling at him warmly, her expression bemused despite the interference of her hat, scarf, and bulky coat. "Fun times, huh?" she whispered. "I figured you wouldn't mind me tagging along and helping, cutie. I'm not that strong but many hands, light work, and all that."

With that, she peered over the mound to check for birds. "Okay. Looks good. Here we go." With a determined little breath, she reached out to grip the speaker and heft it. Then she started to trudge upwards. It was far heavier than she thought. Ugh. She already was feeling the weight.

Nonetheless, she kept her grey eyes focused on the next bit of cover and took one step after another. When she finally reached it, she sank downwards with relief and eased the burden. "Well, that's not fun."

"It's the absolute ******** worst." Asher said it sharply, finally rested enough to step in and take the speaker back from her while Misha rested. He didn't seem all that grateful for the help -- or maybe he was just a little damp, tired, and very cold. At least he made it a bit farther this time.

Completely unbothered by his sharpness, Misha took the speaker from him with another grin full of sunshine and warmth. You could catch more flies with honey, after all. "Worse than the birds? I don't know about that."

With that gentle joke, the petite brunette started her own leg of the long, cold slog up the mountain until her own breath gave out and she sank down to rest again. "Ugh."

"I really don't want to deal with flesh eating horses. I'll settle for birds." Mal picked up the speaker himself and took it a little further. Not as far as he would have liked, unfortunately --

Because of course, Asher was there. Maybe he needed to revise his kryptonite to being smart mouthed Hermes chosen? Maybe. He set the speaker down and made room for the next person to take it along.

It took Zan a very long time to get back to the hotel after helping on the bunny slope. He wasn't one for heavy lifting, but at the moment there was literally nothing else he could be doing without raising suspicion, so he only hesitated for a minute or two before heading out again.

When he finally reached the fork at the start of the slopes, he saw an indication that three of the speakers were already placed. The only trailed that remained were the Black Diamond and the Double Black Diamond, and it was only after a moment's hesitation that he chose the latter. It was an obvious decision. Double was far better than anything average.

It took Zan a number of tries to get up the slope carrying nothing at all. When he reached the speaker, he barely moved it more than a foot. Helping.

They were doing something. That was good. It seemed just attacking the birds and holding down the fort wasn't really doing anything. Sure it was helping some, but not nearly as much as it needed to be doing. When Brynn spoke up she nodded. Although she didn't remember the tale, she really should brush up on her Greek Mythology now that she was a part of it in a way, it seemed like a good enough plan.

She opted to help with one of the harder ones, simply because it seemed that the most people would be needed for those paths.

The others that were helping were talking but for now she stayed silent. This was hard work and she decided to conserve as much energy as possible to push the speaker. However she couldn't help but wonder if this was worse then fighting the birds or just as bad.

When it came time for her turn she put all her might into the task, though it didn't go as far as she would've liked. Maybe fighting the birds was more her thing.

Thank goodness others had come to join her and Asher, Misha thought with relief. Even if she had figured out the knack of hauling the speaker, it was still heavy as hell. So the smile she offered the Chosen she took it from next was completely real. "Thanks, hon," she murmured. "Up, up, and away we go."

Taking a deep breath, she hefted the equipment and went as far as she was able. As she slowed and lowered it further up the path, she considered that maybe she should go slower. It really was amazingly heavy.

Mal gave up on speaking for moving the thing, He wasn't doing the greatest job of it, and he thought about going back to murdering some more birds. More murdered birds would at least mean that there were fewer birds to assault the survivors. And then he'd at least feel useful. Or maybe just kind of useful.

He set the speaker down again in the snow and huffed a breath out, chafing his fingers to warm them.

The smile that was given back to Misha was genuine and as big of a one as she could muster lately. "Gotta all work together." she said as she watched the other girl, waiting her turn. Misha was really good at the whole speaker pulling thing, much better then she was.

Before she knew it, and before she wanted it to be, it was her turn once again. Pushing as hard as she could Beaulah barely moved it an inch. "You have to show me how to do this." She said jokingly when she couldn't push any more. She had made even less leeway then the time before. She was disappointed in herself, and seeing how good the others were doing was only making it worse.

"That means not being so hard on yourself," Rose offered as she finally caught up with the crew, taking the burden from the other, very nearly able to taste the disappointment. The blonde offered a smile, smiling before she put her effort into focusing on moving the gear. "We heroes, great Movers of the Speakers."

It felt like it was too easy to get winded, too easy for her chest to burn. She attested her ability to move the stuff so well at all to her singer's lungs, but she could only do so much in one go. "It's one way to keep warm, isn't it?"

Mal picked up the speaker again, and carried it a few more feet. What had Brynn used to doctor up the damn things? Lead? He wondered, seriously, as he hauled it a little further, and set it down again to get out of the way. His shoulders ached.

"Keeping warm is a good silver lining to focus on," Misha offered as she passed Rose to catch up with Mal and take the speaker from him. She was still careful to keep her voice low to avoid notice from any hovering birds but she could never resist putting in her two cents.

"I'll take it for a bit if you don't mind, handsome." Her hand squeezed down on Mal's shoulder for an instant, the surprising strength of her grip felt through his coat just barely. Then she graced him with a wink and a grin before suppressing a grunt as she took on the speaker's weight.

Again she made decent distance but this time it felt harder. Her body was finally starting to object to the punishment. Face turned away from the others, Misha grimaced at the ache growing in her back and shoulders.
