A breeze kicked up the tall grass, sending seed pods and dust fluttering in the air. Chaska, far from his home by the beach and forest, stumbled into a clearing. His nose twitched from the upset dust before sneezing loudly. Ugh... He shook his mane, freeing the bugs, seeds, sticks, and other freeloaders he managed to gather from his travels in the annoyingly tall grass. This was not his idea of a good time. As a "lord", he left his home to broaden his horizons. You know, like, become more worldly. So far, he's managed to trip over a badger den, get chased by said badger, and suck up enough grass in his lungs to weave a basket. Nothing his siblings wouldn't love to rub his nose in. They were always messing with him. Totally jealous they weren't the first born like he was. Oh~ the burdens of being a noble. An un-commoner if you will. Chaska continued forward. Off in the distance he could make out a large rock formation. He doubted that he'd be welcome too far into this new land, but at least he could skim the edges. No telling what exciting things he could fine.

Halisi let out a slow breath of relief as she shuffled away from the area where the cubs were kept while their parents were busy. There had been an explosion of cubs lately and it was hard work being a nanny at times like this. She did love it, though. Cubs always made her smile. She decided that a trip to the border of the pride was in order. There were usually less lions there that would bother her and she could get some refreshing time in. Trotting out, she began to walk in an aimless line, weaving in and out of the pridal lands. It wasn't long before she spotted a male not too far off, his bright blue mane standing out against the grass. Curious, she headed over in his direction. "Hello," she called out, suddenly realizing he might not be friendly. Oh dear...hopefully he was.

Chaska walked forward, not paying close attention, the sudden "Hello" startled him. He missteped and almost ate dirt until his front paw shot out to catch himself. Before turning to confront the speaker, he lightly coughed and patted down his mane. Yep, he totally meant to do that. No proper nobleman ever trips. They only fall gracefully. Chaska turned around and spotted a lion. A female lion. Nice. "Um, hiya!" Smooth, buddy. Chaska cleared his throat. Gotta get nice and deep for the lady. "I mean, greetings, fair maiden! Are these lands your domain?" Chaska smiled, his shiny teeth glistening in the afternoon sun. Gotta charm the ladies. Can't scare off every pretty lass he runs across. Seriously, his luck has to turn around at some point. A week of walking through hostile terrain with even more unsavory characters could stretch any creature to his limits.

The stumble of the male made Halisi wince a bit. She really shouldn't have called out to him like that. What if he was going to attack? But the sudden reply and suave addition made her pause. Oh...it didn't seem he was hostile. That was a relief! "Ah...well. Yes?" she said, unsure if he meant that she ruled it. That would be hilarious if she did - her, a queen? Nah. "This is the Pridelands," she said, nodding back the way she had come from. "I do live here, if that's what you meant. I'm Halisi," she added with a hesitant smile, still unsure if she should trust this random guy. He could be faking his clumsy, polite nature after all.

Chaska's smile spread even further. She didn't run away! That was a relief. Plus, she was still talking with him. His sisters can suck it. He wasn't completely hopeless. Speaking of talking, he should probably pay attention. "Pridelands? Well, that sounds like a cool place. I bet the lions that rule there are pretty awesome with a name like that." He wanted to get closer, but didn't want to scare Halisi away so he compromised. Taking a couple strikes forward, he puffed out his chest to look extra dashing. "What a lovely name, Ms. Halisi. I'm Chaska from the Kizi pride which is about a weeks slow walk from there" He pointed in the direction he traveled from. The tall grass shifted as if taunting him. He glared at it before bringing his attention back to Halisi. "Do you mind walking with me, Halisi? I'm sure you know some cool places to explore. I'm on a bit of my adventure. You know? Like, expanding my horizons and all that jazz." He smirked and stepped just a big closer. He didn't want to be too much of a creeper, but she was pretty.

Kizi? Halisi tilted her head a bit, the name sounding familiar. She knew long ago some of the pride had gone there, but she hadn't heard of anyone traveling there in quite some time. "It's nice to meet you, Chaska," she said with a smilet hat wasn't quite as hesitant as it had been before. "I'd be happy to show you around. The pride is very welcoming of strangers passing through so you don't have to worry about being attacked." She headed along the border of the pride for a bit before heading in in the direction of Pride Rock. "So...expanding horizons? Are you someone that seeks stories and tales? Your pride is one of fortune tellers and things like that, right?"

Chaska's heart rate picked up a bit as he hesitated to take the final step up to Halisi. He didn't want to get too close until he knew she was comfortable. After her "nice to meet you~" Chaska took that as permission to close the gab. "That sounds wonderful. I haven't seen another pride's.. land before." A sheepish smile quirked his lips. He wasn't going for a joke, but things just happened. Chaska followed along after Halisi. A storyteller? Well, not strictly speaking. "Sort of. I always love a good story." He caught up and walked beside Halisi. "I mostly do what I want which, in retrospect, got me into a week long, exhausting hike." He wasn't cut out for all this extraneous activity, but he couldn't come back too soon or else his friends wouldn't let him live it down. "So what about you? What do you do?" SilverLutz Brrruuuhhh congrats on the goddess! She's so pretty. *pets*

Halisi had to laugh quietly as Chaska made a little joke. That had been funny! The last of her worries melted away as she motioned for him to follow her into the prides...lands. Ha! "You're welcome to stay here for a while to recover," she offered as they walked towards Pride Rock in the distance. "I'm a nanny so I watch the cubs of the pride so their parents can have a break. Good practice for when I have my own," she said with a little nod. Not that she was expecting, but she did always dream of having a big family of her own, much like the one she was born into. "What you want...that must be fun," she added with a hum. "I'd probably run out of ideas though."

Chaska preened under Halisi's attention. Not that he'd admit it (well he would, but not negatively), he was a bit of a narcissist. Having Halisi's whole attention only encouraged him to keep going. "That's pretty nice of you guys." He was pretty tired and a bit of food and water wouldn't be bad either. His ears perked up at the word 'nanny'. Chaska enjoyed playing with cubs, being almost a big cub himself. Though, stress on the word play. He did not deal with the whole taking care of cubs thing. All those babies with drool and what not. Nope, he'd want all the good bits and leave the nasty parts to other lions. "Nanny? I wouldn't mind having a few cubs myself. I enjoyed life when I was a cub. Though I enjoy life now." He continued foward, "Maybe we can continue this conversation at a stream or something?" Chaska decided he really liked Halisi and wouldn't mind spending more time with her. Maybe she would be cool with him sticking around for a few days. "Yeah, I'm all about fun, so lets go refresh and then you can show me what you do for fun around here."SilverLutz Last one from me! I guess have them walking off into the sunset? lol

"Oh, of course," Halisi said with a nod as she turned in the direction of the river that was much closer than the landmark she had been heading for originally. "Maybe you can show me what the Kizi do for fun, too? I've heard they're a curious little pride." She smiled as they headed off to the river, chatting with Chaska easily. He was quite fun and easy to talk to which made their time together nice and simple. She wasn't one for complicated things and it seemed Chaska wasn't either. They continued chatting, leaving behind the buggy grass and tickly weeds of the rogue lands. Blu Chalk All done! I'll whip out a SRP with my new goddess and Halisi and she'll be good to go!
