Nali let out a yawn, the white maned wolf had been having a lazy day not that he days were often anything but, after all she didn’t exactly have a family to care for or a companion of any kind right now. Nali wondered if perhaps she was approaching an age where having a family might be a good idea, she wasn’t getting any younger after all. Giving her head a shake she scanned the horizon. She had been here under this tree for awhile and she hadn’t seen another living soul in what must be hours. She shrugged her shoulders a little as she laid her head down on her paws. She was okay being alone she had been for quite some time now.

Yonke was bored which meant he was on the hunt for some sort of company. If nothing else he would love if he could find someone to tell him how handsome he was. Fining someone to tell him his pelt was beautiful always put him in a good moon. He knew that he was striking but he also wasn’t modest so he had no problem flaunting it. As he moved he spotted movement not far from where he was walking. A smile spread on his lips when he spotted the mane wolf. Some wouldn’t waste their time on a lower species like a maned wolf but Yonke wasn’t really all that concerned where the praise came from as long as it came. Holding his head up high he changed course to head straight for the white maned wolf with the glowing mane.

Nali must have dozed off but suddenly a hint of movement caught her eye. Her head turned quickly when she spotted the movement. She shuffled up to a seated position. She didn’t want to be laying in just a weak position when the larger species was approaching her. She was careful to not appear too defensive no good interaction could start with her being on the defensive. She studied the male while he approached her she had to say he have a strike way about him, she could tell with the way he held himself that he was very confident and thought if not knew that he was something special.

“Hello” she greeted him once he was within earshot. She wanted to be the one to start their interaction. She took a deep breath waiting to see what it was that he wanted, he had come towards her with something in mind.

Yonke had to be honest he was impressed with how attractive the female wild dog was. She had a pristine white coat and a glowing mane. Yonke smiled, he had learned from experience that those who had beauty could appreciate the beauty in others more easily. He was shocked with how bold she was to start the conversation with him. “Hello to yourself.” he said his voice was low and smooth filled with confidence. “Are you out here on your own?” he asked her already knowing the answer. He tried to study her wondering what he might need to say to get her to give him all the compliments that he wanted.

Nali smiled calmly she wasn’t really sure what the hyena was after but he also didn’t seem to be any sort of threat. “Yes I am alone, and you?” she asked. She had answered his question but wasn’t willing to put anymore out there until she knew more about him. Perhaps she should have lied but she didn’t see the point. If he was going to attack he thinking someone was close by would likely only make him attack faster.

Yonke kept his expression calm a smile on his lips he could hear in the female’s voice that was was guarded. It didn’t matter to him though he was going to make this work. “I mean you no harm.” he told her his voice mellow. “I was just surprised to see someone else out here so I thought I would come over and say hello. My name is Yonke.” he moved into a seated position wanting the female to see him relaxed. “Your mane is gorgeous.” he told her with a smile, it was the truth the way it almost appeared to glow was appealing to him.

Nali visibly relaxed once he told her his name, killers didn’t give you their names it just seemed like a general rule of life. “My name is Nali.” she told him calming more as she spoke. When he complimented her mane she smiled, it was a feature of herself that she really liked but hearing it from someone with just a beautiful pelt. “Thank you.” she whispered suddenly bashful. “Your pelt is amazing, I have never seen anyone who looked like you.” She felt silly complimenting him, he obviously knew that he was amazing however it felt wrong not something when he had been so kind to her.

A noise that couple only be described as a purr escaped Yonke’s lips. She had said exactly what he needed to hear. He loved being called amazing. “Thank you.” he said without a note of modesty in his voice this was honestly what the male lived for. He rose to his feet he had gotten what he needed from the interaction and the feeling of being called amazing would likely carry him over for awhile. “I suppose I should be on my way though, never know what the day will bring and I need to find a good place to call home for the night.” he said. He didn’t wait for a response from the female before he turned and sauntered away. It shouldn’t have been possible but his head was held even higher than it had been when he had first came over to the maned wolf.

Nali’s brow knit as the male walked away. It had been such a strange interaction between the two and she really didn’t know what to make of it. Once the hyena was out of view she settled back down to a laying position. She let her thoughts drift between the hyena and the idea of starting a family as she drifted off to sleep again.
