Part 1 Now that Tom had his wits about him he could finally get away from the bird swarm that they were in. However that didn't mean he would make it necessarily. His heavy equipment that he was carrying and trying to use the bow at the same time made it hard to get out of the crowd. He probably should have used a more short-ranged weapon, but he had only practiced with a bow so far and so didn't feel confident in using a different type of weapon. He tried to make a run for it outside of the swarm and away from the birds. HP: 47

Marisol took a breath; it was impossible to say no when asked to save a loved one, it seemed. Not that she was sure she wanted to. She followed Tom out into the swarm of birds, whip firmly clasped in her right hand. It hadn't done much good when she'd arrived but with a partner, she thought she would have better luck. If nothing else, if she came under attack he might be able to get an arrow off. Whether it was speed or something else, she didn't care. As of yet none of the blasted birds had seemed to target them. And she hoped, for their lives, it would stay that way. She still remembered the sharpness of their beaks and the sting as the feathers seemed to graze against the skin of her hands. If she had it her way, she wouldn't ever see these blasted creatures again but she doubted she'd have her way. With that, she shut down that line of thought and focused on the task at hand. Phase 2 Tom noticed the woman that had followed him and nodded in acknowledgement to her. At least he wouldn’t be alone during this. “Well, let’s hope we can get away from those things.” He said before another attack came upon them. These things were persistent to say the least. He tried to get a shot out at them, however he managed to miss again. He shouted a bit towards the woman, not sure if she could hear him over the birds cries, “If this gets too hard for us, we can always go and try to help fortify the resort!” As much as he would like to do everything possible to save those who were still out there, if it was getting to be too much for them to handle, they would be forced back inside or else they could lose their lives and he didn’t think that would be the best idea on their first mission. HP: 47 - 3 = 44 Weapon: Bow

There seemed to be a calm in the storm of birds and Marisol paused, peering around carefully. The person who had approached her--and she imagined the man in front of her, too--hadn't known exactly where their loved ones had gone. She hoped they could find them before the birds mobbed them. "Let's try to find these people first," she shouted back; she felt like he was a bit too willing to give up and they'd barely started yet. Not that she was opposed to going back to help fortify the hotel. She wasn't. That didn't meant she didn't want to find these people; she did and she wasn't going to just bail because it was hard. Not without a good reason. And there, just off-- "Hey," she rushed forward, coming up beside her partner--what the hell was his name--and pointed to their left. "Do you see that?" Marisol didn't wait for an answer. She took off towards the sight of two people cowering behind a small dent of land covered in snow. With their winter hoods it was almost impossible to see them and she wasn't quite sure how she'd managed. "We're here to help you," she explained, approaching them slowly. Marisol's Health: 47 HP

Tom sighed as they moved to go and rescue the person. He didn’t mean to sound like he was giving up and wanting to go back, he just wanted to inform the woman that they shouldn’t push themselves too far. It wouldn’t help anyone if they had to be rescued themselves after all. He managed to catch up with his partner after dodging the bird attacks a bit more, though he kept a close eye on them in case they decided to attack them again. He turned to look at the people who were stuck in the snow. “We need to get you guys inside. I’m a doctor so I’ll be able to patch you guys up if you need it.” He really wasn’t sure what else to say. He had better bedside manner than attack-manner. HP: 44 Weapon: Bow

Marisol tried not to let her surprise show; she hadn't known he was a doctor. In that case, "Why don't you take the rear? If we place these two between us, we should be able protect them if any of those birds try to attack." It had the bonus of protecting the medic. The last thing she wanted to be responsible for was getting him killed. She readied herself, taking a stand in front as Tom and the two survivors were shielded from view. The birds were between them and the hotel but it looked like there was some activity towards their left. If they went now, they might be able to get past without much attention coming their way. With a quick motion to follow, she began to lead them to safety. Marisol's Health: 47 HP

Part 1 again Tom nodded to her. “Right.” He said, helping the the two get between them. They would be able to defend the two if the birds managed to attack. However, it seemed that the birds had turned their attention away for the moment and they were able to make their way back to the hotel, a bit slowly, but still getting there without being attacked. It seemed though that these weren’t the only ones who were left out there as they were approached by others wondering about their own family members. Tom looked out quickly to see that the birds were still distracted and stepped out a bit before turning back to the woman who had helped him. “Before we go out again, if you’re willing, I forgot to introduce myself, I’m Tom.” He said, giving her a smile. The journey back to the hotel was, thankfully, uneventful as she led the two people. It seemed though that as they returned, others were anxious for their own loved ones to be found. She gave a side glance to the man who had accompanied her the first time. If he was game, so was she. "Marisol," she returned. "Let's go." With the birds distracted it was an easy run through the swarm. If only the rest of the search could be so easy. Marisol's Health: 47 HP

Part 2 “Nice to meet you Marisol.” He said before heading back out again into the snow. At least they had a bit of a path now. He strained his ears and eyes to see if he could hear or see anyone else that needed rescuing. It was hard to with the birds and the bright snow. That was when he spotted two kids hiding behind some trees and motioned to Marisol that he had found someone and headed to where the kids were. Luckily it was nice trek to get to the kids, without the birds attacking him for now, though he worried about Marisol being attacked. HP: 47 Weapon: Bow

Marisol made sure to stick close to Tom as they headed out. Unlike last time, where she had been the one to find those in need of rescue, she saw nothing but a cold winter's landscape. Ahead of her, she saw him motion and she followed. Kids. She kneeled down to be at their eye level. The last thing she wanted to do was scare them. "We're going to take you back to the hotel, okay? Stick close." Marisol's Health: 47 HP

Part 3 Tom kneeled down too. “We’ll get you back to your parents, but it might be a bit tricky so I want you guys to be brave for me. We won’t let you get hurt.” He said to them as he took a look back. They seemed small enough to carry at least. “Do you think you could carry one and I could carry the other?” It would be a lot easier to just run through the snow holding the kids rather than having to lead them down the way. Marisol nodded before hefting one of the children into her arms, "Just keep your head down, okay?" Once she was sure the kid was holding tight and hiding their face, she looked at Tom. "Let's be quick but careful," she explained. Who knew how long these kids had been out here. They needed to get back so they could get fed and warmed up. Once she was sure Tom was ready, she rushed ahead. It turned out that luck was on their side and they didn't have any issue getting past the swarm that seemed to glide through the air. She turned to make sure Tom was right behind her before ushering the kid into the hotel where it was safe. Marisol's Health: 47 HP

Tom nodded back to her and followed Marisol back to the resort and getting in just behind her as the birds turned their attention back towards them. Once they were safely inside he let out a breath of relief and set the kid down who went running to their parents. Of course, with another successful rescue came more requests to look for family members, which he couldn’t ignore. He made sure to check outside before they went off on another trip, but this time the birds were able to nick him again, this time giving him a nice scratch on his face. He turned back to his partner. “Looks like they’re back at it. Hopefully we’ll be able to get through again.” He replied, wiping a bit of blood off of his cheek. HP: 47 – 3 = 44 Weapon: Bow Rescued: 2 + 2 = 4 total

s**t. The distraction of earlier had clearly won off as the moment she stepped outside she was swarmed. She felt the n** of a beak graze her temple and she had no choice but to bounce back towards the hotel. "They're not messing around now," she told as she wiped at the small bit of blood on her forehead. "You okay to try this again?" Marisol's Health: 47 - 3 = 44 HP

Phase 1 Tom smirked a bit back at her. “You know it! I can’t leave people in need if I know they’re out there. Besides, I believe we can do this, though I’m sorting of wishing I had grabbed a short range weapon like a dagger or something this time.” He said chuckling a little before trying to go out into the swarm again but getting hit by a bird slamming into his chest a bit. “Oof, well, that’s going to bruise a bit.” He said as he watched the bird recover and get back up. HP: 44 – 3 = 41 Weapon: Bow
