With a growing feeling of discontent, Tatyana left behind the wandering band of foals and leapt into flight. There was a time she was at home among them, a ringleader of sorts in her own right. The first lost filly, one could say, or at least the twins had. They’d let her stride along beside them, every step of the way. It had been a rare day she’d not been among them, or at least passing time with one. That was why they’d established the herd, taken in others like them, built their own strange home. It was Tatya who was always eager for a hunt, clever with her nose to seek out good things to eat, like berries and mushrooms and strange-sweet grass and deep pockets of clover in the forest glades.
But they had grown up, and new foals had come along, and now there was a strange sort of disconnect. She could feel the two distinct herds forming, as the foals decided they needed nothing from any adults (or even older teens) and that meant Tatyana and those like her. Well, she and the others had done that once upon a time, had created their own herd once. What was so hard about doing it again? Maybe it was the fact that it no longer felt like home, felt permanent. True enough she had found her true home, or at least the place that the one who could be her mother dwelled. Visiting them was certainly swell.
“I like tea parties.” She admitted aloud, meandering along. Of course, there was no one around her to be speaking to and the trees certainly didn’t care for her confession. If she’d had a familiar mayhap they would have looked at her concerned or bewildered, but she didn’t. She was alone. “I still like tea parties, and I shan’t give them up.”
Her collection of teacups chimed and rattled in reply, clinking against her shoulder in a strange comfort. Today they were tied on a wide collar she’d made to house them, which meant she could walk and talk rather than trying to keep them clasped between her lips until she could tuck them away safely. It was easier to keep them nearby with some help, after all. And she lacked her mother’s clever twisty tail to keep them safe that way. The bright-melted cat had tried to each her how to do the twisty-tail trick when she’d visited Underland for tea and biscuits and jam, but all efforts had proved futile. Instead Tatyana stayed for the snacks and the stories, then stolen away with another teacup and a travel bundle of scones and cakes. A gift from her mother.
“Tea parties are better with company, though.” She pouted, her bright eyes suddenly glinting keenly. “Oh! I should find someone to invite to my tea party…”

Takemi was walking through the edge of the lands of the Clan. He was on patrol. He was on a patrol even though there wasn't many who would come through the expansive forest at the base of the mountain in order to get to them. They very rarely got visitors, so he wasn't expecting to find anyone, or anything. It was quiet in the forest. It was usually quiet so this never bothered him.
He wore his mask as he usually did when he was "On Duty" so to speak. He took his responsibilities to his new home very seriously. He loved the Clan and he loved that they had welcomed him and his family with open arms. It was nice being in the clan. He had selected to be a warrior for the Clan since he loved to protect people. He wasn't one to harm an innocent, and if he could do something to keep someone else safe then he would do anything in order to make that happen. He had made friends with Honovi, who was one of the princes of the clan. That friendship was important to him, and even his other self would approve of protecting Honovi.
Takemi had a rare issue, or one he hadn't seen much before. He had two personalities. He could bow to one in order to let the other out. Most of the time he wound up being Takemi, but when he gave into the voice in his mind, Kazuchi would take over. It was one such instance like this that had landed him in a situation with the flock. It was also how he had gotten his daughters. He loved them both terribly and wanted them to do well. He knew Keianna wanted to know more about her mother, but he didn't wanna let her leave the clan. He had been assured that Kei would have a place in the clan forever no matter what she chose, but Take worried that she would be harmed without the protection of the clan. He was the protective father.
Kazuchi was his rebellious Ladies man personality. He disliked that side, but he couldn't always hold Kazu back. When Kazu wanted control there was an internal battle in order to see who would come out on top. For now he just patrolled the lands of the center kingdom. The dragons and the Phoenix.
It was on this patrol that he heard the clinking coming from in front of him. His paws flexed as he adjusted his course. He would find out what was making that sound.
He came around a tree and was face to face with another. He tried to hide his surprise at the mare in front of him. She was striped and with a cat tail. Her paws almost seemed to disappear a bit. Take was surprised to find another in this area. It was definitely not normal, but she almost seemed to fit in. He wondered if she came from the Kingdom of Byakko. That would be fitting for her paws and her tail.
"Hello.... How are you?" He stammered a little, in order to try and comprehend what was going on. He had no idea what to say. He hadn't thought of what he would do if he actually managed to find someone else. So he was at a loss for words at the moment.

“A good day to fly, a good day to find things.” Tatyana mused softly to herself. “Lots of things, useful things and shiny things and pretty things and pointy things. Tasty things, too, hopefully.” After a quick flight bore her away from the lands she regularly wandered, Tatyana settled herself down smack in the middle of a strange section of woods. There were mountains at her back, which promised excitement of their own should the woods disappoint, but she had hope for the secrecy of trees. It was to that end that she wandered beneath them, her collection of cups chiming, her carry pouch empty.
“Teacups and teaspoons and tea.” The winged Cheshire cat muttered to herself with a grumble and a flick of her tail. “I should have traded for another honeycomb for the trip. Now I’m hungry with no sweets to eat.”
Maybe she’d find some acorns or mushrooms, or some good herbs to brew in her tea or top some cakes with. They would be good things to trade to the Underland herd, and she longed for more of their frosted cakes and other such fancy eats. ‘Trade useful things for tasty things.’ She purred contentedly. ‘Tasty, delightful, ooh!’
Delighting in the sight of subtly luminescent mushrooms growing at the foot of an oak, Tatya crouched down on her forepaws, tail lashing back and forth in the air as she narrowed her bright ruby gaze. Three or four of them seemed grown enough to be of use, so she poked them idly in consideration. “Hmm, if they are dried do they still glow? Can you make pretty paint with them? Wouldn’t that be interesting?”
The sudden sound of branches rustling made her straighten, craning her head around at the sudden appearance of a stranger. He seemed somewhat surprised at her presence, surprised and a bit awkward. So his home, but not his home? ‘Border? Patrolling the outskirts?’
“Hello.” She returned, twisting on the spot to face him with a slight tilt of her head. “I am well. How are you? Do you live here? Are these mushrooms yours? They’re very pretty, and I know someone that uses them in poultices but I was wondering if they can be dried. Do you think they’re still glowy when they’re dried? That’d be neat.”
Tatyana paused for a moment, flicking one ear back and lashing her tail. A waver of nerves flicked over her, making her paws and tail drift more toward shadow than solid. Maybe in the dark of the woods he wouldn’t notice? Strange bear male, pelt all the color of snow and shadows. His tail was long and strange and full, she wondered where he’d gotten it. His shiny trinkets were nice too. “I’m Tatyana, Tatyana Bangarang. My friends usually call me Tatya. Who are you?”

Take watched her carefully his mask hiding his true expressions. She was a strange one, with her shifting legs and her teacups. He hadn't seen anything like her within the lands of The Clan. There was a variable array of all kinds of thing in the clan, but as far as he knew, they all maintained their full solid forms in this plane of existence. This intrigued him as most new things did. He didn't necessarily like new things, but they always managed to intrigue him. He shifted his weight idly and flicked his tail without noticing it when she flicked hers. She would probably find that funny. He hadn't seen anything like her. She was new and he wanted to know more. 'One can not know the nature of others simply by staring... one must find out more and make an informed decision.' what the thought that crept across his mind.
Kazuchi the other voice always inside him was saying that it was best to woo her in hopes that she would be a companion for them. Kazuchi had a way with women, and he enjoyed most of them. Where Take stood by traditions and responsibilities, Kazuchi stood by rebelliousness and women. Take had managed to keep most of Kazuchi's actions in line, but it grew harder when he was also intrigued. His tail flicked a bit more, this time slightly harder as he tried to clear his other personality's voice from his mind. This was not the right place to be "Falling to pieces" as some had called it.
He didn't remember when Kazuchi had managed to sneak into his personality. It was one of those things where he would find himself doing something and not know the exact reason as to why. Then he started hearing himself actually answering his own questions. It had confused him for a while, but he had come to terms with it, and learned in some instances, very limited ones, that Kazuchi would be a good asset to have.
His ears perked when she spoke to him. 'Ahhh so her name is Tatyana....' Kazuchi added 'Tell her she has a beautiful name.... After all you aren't the one who's good with women...' Silently Take chastised his other self. This was no time for that. She was a newcomer and she was on the outskirts of their land. First he should find out why, and where she came from. She had paws similar to his own, but yet different. Not that it was uncommon to have paws in the clan, just that he wanted to be sure that she came as friend and not foe. He looked at her once more, 'Mayhaps she is one of Byakko's his clan is the one who carries the Feline genes...' But that didn't account for her dragon accents. Perhaps she was a Byakko Seiryuu mix? He would have to ask. He bowed to her when she finished speaking.
"It is my pleasure to make your acquaintance Lady Tatyana. I am Takemikazuchi, but everyone calls Me Take..." He hoped he hadn't put to much emphasis on the word Me. It was always hard considering he had two completely different personalities. Although at the moment they seemed to be entwined together in the intrigue of this new Lady. "What has brought you to our lands? Or have you simply wandered too far from the center kingdom?" He mentioned the Center Kingdom instead of simply the main clan lands, since she wouldn't have come from Byakko as his kingdom was on the complete opposite side from them. Aside from the fact that it was high in one of the mountains. This would also be his way to find out where she came from without breaking the formalities and the manners of the different ranks within the clan. Take was always and foremost a knight. He would do whatever it took to protect those in his care, no matter who they were.

Tatyana watched him watching her, her brightly glowing eyes narrowing faintly as she attempted to see past the strange dark mask that hid his face. She refused to be overly distracted by the shiny baubles he wore, though the bands encircling his forelegs were wide and fine and golden. His necklace too was of interest, a soft blue like the sky with intriguing loose-strands. She wanted to bat at them, but she rather doubted he approve, and there was still the matter of the mask. Likely it was tradition of his herd or clan, which marked him as part of a group that was not known to her. Or perhaps he was bad, and trying to hide. But if he was, he didn’t seem very good at it, being bad OR hiding, actually.
Hmm, an interesting sort of puzzle.
‘So, probably not but maybe so.’ Tatya hummed, flicking her ears and shifting her paws. She curled her limbs close to her, folding her wings to her back and looping her tail around her gathered paws. The more her limbs overlapped the more solid they appeared, though a moment later her tail unwound itself and half-disappeared again. He flicked his tail, and she automatically flicked hers. It was something of a game, but Tatya hadn’t decided to play it so perhaps her tail had. Maybe her tail was working with him? That would be a most peculiar kind of betrayal, and she didn’t care for the idea at all. It was her tail, after all! ‘Dratted thing. Behave, tail, or I shall trade you in for a new one. One with more fluff, maybe.’
Tatyana twitched her nose and tilted her head faintly as he spoke his name, bewildered by how the letters rolled through her ears. “Take…” She tried softly. “It is nice to meet you, Take of the White Tail, of the Shadowed Paws, of the strange mask…”
The words skittered out without her say so, and she pouted faintly as she snapped her jaws shut with a glint of long white fangs. She wasn’t sure she wanted to say all of that yet, but the words and her tail didn’t seem to care what plans she had or didn’t. They had their own agenda.
“I suppose everyone likes to think that their home is the center of the world.. But I don’t know this center kingdom you speak of. I wander freely, I was once a child of the Lost Foals and I remain of the Underland. I fly the winds that suit me and I drink tea with White Leaf and I watch the Faire as it comes and it goes and I like meat pies and berries and games.”
She paused in her litany, tilting her head. “So then, is this your homeland? If it isn’t the ‘center kingdom’, what is it? What do you call it? Does everyone here wear masks? Do I need to leave until I get one? I am not sure I should like to wear it, I’d rather just make my face disappear.”

Takemikazuchi shifted his weight from his right paws to his left. He continued to study her and her teacups. They intrigued him very much, he had seen similar things in the center kingdom but he hadn't seen them as she wore them. He had never thought to actually stop and learn more about the strange objects, but the ones she carried, well wore, were different. He couldn't quite put his finger on it, but none the less the intrigued him. He listened as she spoke, it seemed she was as intrigued by his mask as he was by her teacups. He almost laughed slightly, she had reminded him that he was still in warrior detail mode. He tilted his head down and with a paw removed the mask, he then gripped it with his teeth and hooked it onto the cord around his neck for it to hang over his shoulder. He looked back at her. "Not everyone here wears masks no.... I am probably one of the few, aside from my father, who bares the mask.... It was given to him by his father before him I believe...." He watched her, his eyes never wavering. "The center kingdom is what we call the kingdom that rests at the center of the four kingdoms or clans. It is the area of complete neutrality..." He could tell now that she definitely wasn't from here, unless she had been a lost daughter of Byakko. That was still a possibility, he would file it away to ask later once he had talked with her a bit more. "This is the outskirts of the forest on the Southern most section of the center kingdom. Our territory does not extend much past that mountain...." He nodded towards the mountain behind her. That was where the land dropped and turned back towards the flatter lands, he had come up that mountain with his family. This brought her other question to his mind. "This is my home now, but it hasn't always been.... I came here as a foal with my family. It has been home ever since. I am one of the warriors of the clan. I am a knight if you will..." He bowed his head to her in a knightly gesture. Their Clan worked more like a kingdom than anything else he had heard about, so he just classified himself as a knight in his own mind. 'To uphold honor and virtue and protect those I cherish.... that is my duty!' was the thought that crossed his mind. "Making your face disappear might just give the elders a fright..." He almost wanted to chuckle at the thought. "Though your feet and tail seem to already have a mind of their own...." he said this with an almost devilish smirk. He didn't know why, but this cat intrigued him. She was so very different than anyone else he had met. "What brings you to our lands? How may I be of assistance?" He couldn't help but remember his manners. He had decided that with her claws if she had wanted to be a threat she probably would have already done something, but at the moment he reserved to wait and see what her intentions were, and maybe learn more about her in the process.
