This thread is dedicated to the race between Donald Trump (R), Hillary Clinton (D), Gary Johnson, (L) and maybe Jill Stein, (G). These are the canidates that have at least a mathematical chance of winning the election, based on number of State ballots they are on. Of the above, only Jill Stein is not expected to make the ballot in all 50 states. More updates as they become available.

Currently, Johnson is on the ballot in 39 states. 11 more to go until we reach 50 state ballot access.

Also, there is quite a bit of speculation that he may make it into the debates. If he does, the impact will be huge.

Ok, the Commission on Presidential Debates, our perennial nemesis, has released the list of the exact 5 polls that will be used to determine eligibility for the Debates. The CPD requires a candidate to reach 15% in five different polls to be included in the Debates. Which five is always determined just before the Debates. We now have the list, which I'll post below.
1: ABC News/Washington Post 2: CBS News/New York Times 3: NBC News/Wall Street Journal 4: CNN News 5: Fox News
According to fivethirtyeight.com, a political website, Johnson is polling at about 10% in the average of Commission approved polls. He needs another five percent to qualify for the Debates.

Priestess_Kelina Currently, Johnson is on the ballot in 39 states. 11 more to go until we reach 50 state ballot access. make that 40. 41 as soon as Ohio gets around to verifying 5,000 of the 12,000 signatures we submitted. Thats more than double the requirement, so we should be good to go. 9 states left till we become the only minor party with 50 state ballot access.

Apparently, we're still waiting on Ohio, but we managed to nab Pennslyvania and D.C., so that makes 41+D.C. 9 more to go before we have nationwide ballot access.

Add Ohio, Minnisota, and Alabama to the list. Now its 44 states plus D.C. Only 6 more to go to reach all 50.

And add Iowa and Virginia, bringing the grand total up to 46+D.C. Only four left to go.

Priestess_Kelina And add Iowa and Virginia, bringing the grand total up to 46+D.C. Only four left to go. Those four being Kentucky, Connecticut, Rhode Island, and New Hampshire. Wait, wasn't that Free State Project supposed to turn New Hampshire into a Libertarian stronghold? Why is it one of the last States for us to gain ballot access in?

Add New Hampshire to the list, so we're now only 3 states away from total ballot access.

We nabbed Connecticut, just two more until we reach all 50.
Also, Gary Johnson is holding stubbornly at 10% in polls, at least, pols that actually include him. Times running out to make the 15% debate threshold, but there are increasing calls for him to be included anyway. Maybe, just maybe, we will make the debates after all. Always hopeful.

Well, unfortunately, the CPD has decided to exclude us yet again, based on their ridiculous polling threshold. Seems they're determined to ignore the will of the people, and stubbornly stick to their precious two party debate format. Sadly, this was not unexpected, but one would have hoped that with the various newspapers calling for his (Gary Johnson's) inclusion, as well as polls that show about 50-60% of voters want him in the debates, they might have changed their minds. Alas, the only polls they looked at were the five they listed, which have been known to exclude minor party candidates even after they were nominated to be the standard of entry into the debates. Tis depressing, but totally in line with the CPD's UNofficial mission to keep the debates two party only.

Well, There's good news and bad news on the Election front. The good news is that Gary Johnson is getting more coverage these days. The bad news is it's because of gaffs he's made during interviews. The first was when he was asked what he would do about Aleppo, and he asked, "whats a leppo?" That bit got played and replayed over and over, sometimes even in the mainstream media. The second was when he was asked who his favorite foreign leader was, and he drew a complete blank. He couldn't name one, and even reffered to it as an "Aleppo Moment" referring to his first gaff. This also got lots of Media coverage
Cynically, I have to wonder if he's doing it on purpose, to garner free media attention from "news" outlets that only seem to care about scandal. Maybe in this case, there really is no such thing as bad publicity, as his biggest problem remains that most people simply don't know about him, or what he stands for. If he is doing it on purpose, to make the media pay attention to him and get his name out there, he just might be an electorial genius. Sure beats people asking "Who" whenever I mention who I'm voting for in November. Now I can just say "The Aleppo Guy", and they usually get it. xd
