Welcome to the Kalos Safari Zone! At the Safari Zone we have begun to hold capture contests! As the name implies it is a contest to see who can catch the biggest, rarest Pokemon out there! The contest is simple, in the Safari Zone you will find many different kinds of Pokemon, from all over the world in fact! We give participants three Safari Balls to use and attempt to capture the best Pokemon they can, or you can use any three Pokeballs of their own, if you do, we do not give you any Safari Balls. [You may use one of yours and two of ours and so forth. You are only allowed to use three Pokeballs total.] You are allowed to take just one of your own Pokemon into the park to use to weaken a wild Pokemon for capture, so don't let it get knocked out! Pokemon are judged on their quality, rarity, and how well the capture was roleplayed. So are you interested? Then sign up, take your Safari Balls, and hit the grass and find the best Pokemon you can!

Also, the Pokemon available is always different. The zone we'll be hunting in this time is the Rainforest Zone! A heavily forested area characterized by heavy rainfall with filled with a very diverse selection of Pokemon. There area is broken up into three parts. The main area, Center Forest which is the largest, consisting of dense foliage and tall trees. Side Area A, River Side which consists of a long winding river with tree canopies hanging over head. And finally Side Area B, Deep Forest where little sunlight reaches the forest floor and certain types of Pokemon benefit from this darkness.

How to Participate:

The rules for the Safari Contest are simple. Pick one Pokemon to use in the contest, and when you post your character looking for a Pokemon use the random number generator to find out what Pokemon your character finds. Set the lowest number to 1 and the highest to 100 for the main area and 1 to 50 for the side areas. Once your post goes through, check to see what number you got, then, look at the list of available Pokemon, at the bottom of this post, to see what Pokemon appeared.

Then, in your next post once the Pokemon has been decided, begin battling it all in one post. But before you post your battle, use the Random Number generator again to see if the capture was successful, setting the lowest to 1 and the highest to 10, however, different Pokeballs have different success rates depending on what Pokemon or area you are using them on/in. Consult the list below to see what Pokeballs benefit this area.

[Ultra Ball] 70% Success Rate on any Pokemon.

[Net Ball] 70% Success Rate on Bug and Water type Pokemon, 50% on all others.

[Dusk Ball] 70% Success Rate on Pokemon found in caves, 50% on anything else.

[Quick Ball] 80% Success Rate on your first Pokemon encountered only, 50% on all consecutive.

[Timer Ball] 80% Success Rate if it's your last Pokeball only, 50% on any prior.

[Repeat Ball] 80% Success Rate on a Pokemon if you encountered the Pokemon in your previous post, 50% if not.

[Heal Ball] 80% Success Rate on a Pokemon if you failed to capture it once already, 50% if not.

[Fast Ball] 80% Success Rate on a fast Pokemon.

[Heavy Ball] 80% Success Rate on a heavy Pokemon.

[Level Ball] 80% Success Rate on a first stage Pokemon (Bellsprout, Wurmple, etc.), 50% on all others.

[Love Ball] 80% Success Rate on a Pokemon with only a single gender, 50% on all others.

[Lure Ball] 80% Success Rate on a Pokemon fished out of the water.

[Friend Ball] 80% Success Rate on a Pokemon that evolves with happiness.

For success rates of 50%, you must receive one of the following numbers from the Random Number generator to capture the Pokemon: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5

For success rates of 60%, you must receive one of the following numbers from the Random Number generator to capture the Pokemon: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6

For success rates of 70%, you must receive one of the following numbers from the Random Number generator to capture the Pokemon: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7

For success rates of 80%, you must receive one of the following numbers from the Random Number generator to capture the Pokemon: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8

For success rates of 90%, you must receive one of the following numbers from the Random Number generator to capture the Pokemon: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9



As long as you still have Pokeballs you may continue to hunt and capture Pokemon until you get one you are comfortable with. If you catch a Pokemon, but then choose to catch another, you must release the first Pokemon you caught before keeping the second. Once you run out of Pokeballs your time is up and the Pokemon you last caught will be the one judged.

When everyone is done (a specified time will be given when the contest will end, regardless if others are done) all Pokemon caught will be judged. Each Pokemon will be judged individually in separate posts where a random number will be used to judge their quality, between 1 and 5 and the number it lands on will be its quality. The other stat taken into consideration is the Pokemon's rarity, its species. A rather common Pokemon like Bellsprout won't give as much points as a Pokemon like Froakie would give much more. However, with quality, a Bellsprout could beat out a Froakie.

Contestant Prizes:

Prizes will be given out to the top three contestants. The top three are allowed to either keep the Pokemon they caught, or take a prize of Snag Coins. The first place contestant may keep both the Pokemon and take the Snag Coins, if he/she so chooses to do so. Note, that the Pokemon still counts towards your rank limit.

1st place prize: 20 Snag Coins and one Snag Emblem OR 20 Snag Coins and a Pokemon Egg from Alola!

2nd place prize: 20 Snag Coins

3rd place prize: 15 Snag Coins

All participants who did not place receive 5 Gengar Tokens as a consolation prize as well as their captured Pokemon. Gengar Tokens can be spent at the casino located in the Snag Mall.


Also, if you use a Pokemon that's not fully evolved that Pokemon will earn Evolution Points at the end of the contest depending on how many Pokemon it knocked out. Posts that are incredibly short (Ditto used Thundershock and knocked out the Magikarp.) won't be counted. But that doesn't mean they all have to be novels, just put in some effort. You can also gain Purification Points in the same way. Don't worry, the Safari Zone is protected by an Immunizer so no virus spreading here!

It was about time Alex spent less time in her room at HQ and started interacting with the real world. At least, that's what Dan told her. And then he disappeared, as usual. But fine, she would take an outing in the "real world" if it would get him to stop hounding her. She swore she would go on the next Safari that was announced...and it happened to be the rainforest. The girl groaned, definitely not looking forward to spending her outside time in a musty jungle. There weren't even any Pokemon that would suit her here. Well, maybe she could catch a really rare one to trade for something she liked. Yeah, that'll work. She decided to bring her Porygon with her to participate in the event since she couldn't bring her computer. "Alright, let's get started. Woooo..." she cheered dryly.

"Chatot!" a loud cry sang in the air. Alex looked up to see the colorful bird circling overhead without a care in the world. Surely that was a rare Pokemon! If she caught that, who wouldn't want to trade with her? She could even potentially win the contest with that and get the prize money to boot. "Hey! Chatot, come down here!" she called out to the avian who had perched itself on a branch. It just looked at her like she was silly for moment before it started grooming itself. "Ignoring me, eh? Porygon, go get 'em!" the girl pointed, siccing her blocky companion on it. Seeing the Virtual Pokemon approach, it took off further into the forest. "Ah! It's getting away! Go, go, go!" Alex took off into a sprint after it with her Pokemon trailing behind.

And find something she did. This time it was a Wurmple that was slowly inching along on the ground. All was well until she saw a Taillow swoop down and scoop the bug up, flying off into the air. That's when she recalled the first Taillow she came across that was pecking at something red or what she now realized was the remains of a Wurmple. "...I wanna go back inside now" she stated. However, Porygon was now pushing her, as if encouraging her to continue. "Ughhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.... Fine."

The next Pokemon Alex encountered was a simple weed that was firmly planted in the ground. She never would have seen it had Porygon not pointed it out. It appeared to be sleeping so she left it alone.

Huffing and puffing, Alex decided to take a seat on a fallen log and kicked off her sandals. She always preferred to be barefoot, not to mention the dirt in this forest was caking up on them. Alex looked up at the sky, letting out a sigh of relief just as she heard something come out of the bushes. Minccino appeared and proceeded to brush its tail on her sandals, polishing them clean. "Whoooooaa. Thanks!" she grinned at the Pokemon. Having sated its OCD urges, the little chinchilla scurried off.

Moving along, the next Pokemon the girl spotted was a Spinarak. She watched it weave a web for a little bit before walking on.

"Awww man... I should've caught that Croagunk. That was a lot of fun" Alex regretted after long parting with the frog. Porygon knew only a few emotions, but relief was one it just discovered. And then, another Riolu crossed their path, just walking along until it spotted the trainer. "Oh! Look at that! I'mma catch it Porygon!" she declared, brandishing an Ultra Ball. Riolu's eyes widened as it pointed just over her shoulder. Wondering what got it spooked, she foolishly looked and quickly realized what was going on when she saw nothing. But it was too late. The blue bipedal Pokemon vanished out of sight, putting its speed to good use. "WHHHAAAAAAAAAAAAT?! How...? It....? Noooooooooo!" Alex cried, falling to her knees dramatically. She fell for the oldest trick, by a Pokemon no less!
