Janūbi's tail twitched as he watched the great beasts, huddled together in the rain. A part of him wished he was somewhere snug and dry, as the rain and wind beat down on him. ... But it was a very small part. After all, this was going to be his first hunt. He puffed up his chest, and watched the large lion next to him.
"What do we do now?" He used a hushed voice, barely above a whisper. Really, it was hardly audible above the wind. The little cub knew he had to keep his distance, but surely he could still be helpful in some way. DavyJnah Ahhh, sorry, crazy week. sad

"Wait." As the male looked at his surroundings, trying to take in as much of the area as he could. "Come with me little one. I need you in a tree." A tree that was high enough and sturdy enough in case the prey beasts came charging this way. It would be safer for the young cub than being on the ground. He did not want to have to explain, or bring back, a dead cub. A learning exercise like this might result in not having a kill but he was confident that he could badly wound one enough to track it.

He nodded, and padded after the adult. He tried his best to listen closely, not wanting his chance at participating to be over. Every few steps, he stared out into the rain and the herd beasts. They remained exactly where they had been before. It seemed that the rain was keeping them in their place. At least the weather was good for something, beyond soaking him down to his skin.
Janūbi spotted a sturdy looking tree. He leaned his head into gold and white adult. "Is this tree good?" He was unsure what would make an ideal tree to watch from, but this one didn't look like the wind was about to blow it over.

The male came with the other to the tree. Looking at it cautiously. It would do. "Yes, this one is good. I'm going to scare them. Just keep a watch out for me. You are my eyes." The male said. "Once I get really close to them, I want you to give me your best roar. Then I will charge at them."
He would get close and when the cub roared, he would too. Startling them until they began to disperse. Ochieng would await the signal as he started to pad away. Knowing the cub was safely in the tree.

The little cub nodded, after listening solemnly. As the rain continued to fall, he tried his best to scramble up into the tree. The trunk was slimy-slick, but he stuck his claws in, and kicked out with his hind legs. He was determined to impress his father. After a considerable struggle, he settled himself into a crook between the trunk and a branch. Tightly wedged, he watched his father through squinted eyes.
He watched his father get closer and closer to the oblivious animals. So close, and yet they didn't notice... Finally deciding that his father had crept as close as was possible, he let out the loudest roar he could muster.

As soon as he heard the little one he roared as well, the sound like thunder. The herd breaking as he charged in. A few startled prey beasts crashed into each other, tangling their horns for a moment to try and escape the now immediate threat closing in upon them. He could see a few stragglers, possibly sick or maybe a bit wounded unable to catch up with the fleeing herd and he took his chance. Large paws struck out, slamming one hard in the backside and giving him just enough purchase to hold onto it.
As he dragged it to the ground he gave another roar before going for the throat. Closing off any air that would come through until the animal stopped kicking."Janūbi!" Ochieng called out for the little one, "Come on down from the tree." He had actually surprisingly not killed the prey beast to far from where the little cub had been hiding in the tree. Which was quite good since he hadn't wanted him to run too far to get tired out for any other activities.
"Come, let's eat and then you can decide what we do next." The male said once the small one was closer.Ellanoire I am so sorry this took so long to get back to you.

Janūbi watched with rapt fascination as his father sprinted off after the beasts, causing them to flee, tangle and panic. His small claws clutch the tree tightly, as he silently cheered on his father. He was so intent on all the action, he almost missed the call.
He skidded down the trunk, rather haphazardly, and hit the wet ground solidly. He bounded over to Ochieng, and his catch, looking up at him with a look of awe plastered over his face. "It was all so fast! And you caught it so well!"
The cub began to eat his fill, occasionally stopping to glance around. You never did know what could sneak up on you. At least that's what the adults were always telling him. "We should bring some of this home, right? There's a lot ... "
He looked up and down the remainder of their meal, and the clouds split further open and began to douse everything with even more water. Janūbi's ears plastered to his head, suddenly much more sodden than before.

"We can bring it back to the others. I would agree that there is still a lot left her that they would like as well." Grinning at the young cub. One day he'd find out the origins of the little one but not now. "Would you like to help me carry it back?" He asked. Of course he would do most of the heavy lifting but it would be quite hilarious to see the little cub attempt to help him carry their prize back to the pair.
"Should we tell your mother that this is your kill? I bet she'd be impressed." A little strong cub with massive strength to scare and kill a prey beast, well that was just a great cub. "And my brother would also be impressed by your prowess."
