“Things change and sometimes you must leave, even if it means leaving behind the life you've built on your own.”

It seemed to have taken a while, but Tumelo finally found himself alone for the evening. Normally, he'd take his mother out for dinner in the village they decided to stop at for the night, then back to the inn to rest before they continued traveling, but she was just grating on his nerves tonight. Nothing pleased her! The inn was too stuffy, the food was dry, the air was too cold, the boots she chose herself were too tight, the bed had lumps in it. Everything was just wrong for her in this village and she was going to gripe about it until she left!

It was to be expected, though.. She was used to a certain style of traveling, of sleeping outdoors and enjoying the warm Sauti air around her. And even when they had made it to Zena before, she could be at peace with the stars above her and a hot camp fire. That couldn't be the case anymore. Her senses were far to dulled once her sight was taken from her it just wasn't safe anymore, and she wasn't adapting to it as quickly as she had hoped. Tumelo did the responsible thing, however, and got his young mother atleast resting in her room before sneaking out for the evening.

Well, he wouldn't even call it sneaking out. She knew where he was headed, but opted to stay curled up near the fire then to exit into the fridged air once more. Tumelo was free to head to the bar nearby, wrapped up in the furs they had collected before hand. The cold was always hard to adapt to for the young man, his lungs had been so much weaker before that each breath was like inhaling a knife. Though he had become stronger since his last visit, it still stung.

There was always one drink that warmed him up ever since he began to drink..

He made his way to the bar and sat down on a bench, pulling down his scarf so that the barmaid could hear him.

"Hot buttered rum, please."

It had been a very long day for Ikuri-- she had a lot to think about. Part of her wished to actually get on that, decide what she should do, while the other just... She just wanted to forget what had happened while she worked. It wasn't bad, the event was downright awesome. Her wish had come true and she would soon start living her old life, that was good right? Right? She didn't want to leave her new life though... She didn't want to leave Zena, her home, her friends... She could visit yes but, there were people here she started considering like family and she'd probably never see them again.

Shaking those sad feelings off, Ikuri decided to work overtime-- to keep herself occupied and more time in the cold city. She was behind the bar tonight, mainly for the thrill of working more than she should, and as she was about to organize some cups, a customer already asked for a drink. With her sweetest smile she said, "One hot buttered rum coming up!" She was quick about it too, there weren't many people drinking at this hour-- usually they went out, after drinking a bit too much, and did as they wanted. After nearly dropping the customer's order, Ikuri set up his tray neatly and carefully made her way to him.

"Here you go!"
She said as she sat down and placed the tray in front of the wind male, not bothering to ask him whether or not he wanted her to serve his drink. "Hope you enjoy your drink, though I'd be careful I think it's a bit too hot." She giggled. He reminded her about Nua somehow, maybe because of his features? Of course Nua had a much notable crystal arrangement and his weren't on his face well-- Nua's were too hard to ignore!

"Is it your first time coming here?" She asked with a smile. It probably wasn't but it hey-- she did like starting conversations.

Tumelo didn't think much about the rather enthusiastic woman who seemed to be his server for the night. Her smile was sweet and kind, as if she was speaking with nothing but earnesty in her voice, and it was refreshing, compared to all of the harsh words he was used to hearing. Still, he didn't smile all that much from it, and focused more on pulling out a notebook that he was carrying on his hip, and began to scribble some things down. Of his mother's journey, there were maybe... Sixteen or so more stops that he wanted to take her to before returning back to the trading camp on the coast. He had hoped that even a little bit of familiarity with these places would help her out and enable her to find the kindness she had seemed to have lost.

When the woman sat down the drink he ordered, he did jump a little, having been too far lost in his own thoughts for the time being.

"Ah, thank you.." Picking up the mug brought a welcome warmth to his cold, thin hands. He missed that warm air that came with living down off the mountains, but alas. The warning provided was heeded; Tumelo wasn't about to make a fool out of himself by burning his tongue due to greed, though it was tempting. There was a thought that she'd go ahead and place his order before him, then meander away to do whatever else the barkeeps do, but she seemed to want to chat, not that he minded too much just yet.

"No. But it's been a long time. I wasn't old enough to drink back then."
