Alexandra wandered around the hospital trying to take her mind off her worry for her big sis who was lying in one of the rooms right now. She had just been turned into a magical girl the other day by a strange but cute talking cat and she had fought off a real monster, it was really scary but also really cool.
She wanted so badly to tell her sister about all of it but she wouldn't wake up. She didn't understand why she was still asleep, she had heard the grownups saying something about a 'coma' but she didn't understand the word really. But Kailey had been in the hospital for sooo long, it wasn't fair she wanted to play with her big sister again. She wanted to make her feel better again, she was a magical girl now right so she should be able to do something like that.
Her mommy was talking to one of the doctors, so she wandered into Kailey's room, where she saw a strange woman standing near Kailey's bed. The older girl was really pretty with multi colored hair but she was a stranger. Why was she in her big sister's room, was she one of her friends from work maybe?
"Um excuse me miss, who are you?" She asked in her best polite voice.

Cassie knew it didn't make much sense for her to be here. She didn't... know this woman. Really, she had more of a connection to the other girl down the hall, also hooked up to machines and with doctors scratching their heads. The other girl was a senshi. This woman? A civilian dragged into the war.
She'd been too late. Had tried to get there in time, tried to go help out the weaker aura against the stronger Chaos signature. By the time she'd gotten there though... Two bodies without their starseeds. Alive. Barely. Cops had gotten there quick, ambulance shortly after.
It'd been surprisingly easy to get their rooms. It felt.... weird to see another senshi powered down. She knew the girl's civilian identity name before she even knew what her powered name was--Amelia.
Cassie rubbed her face, trying again to figure out what she'd have to do to... well. She wanted to fix this mess but.... how? They'd gotten starseeds back before but that was with Caedus' help and with portals and just... somehow, she doubted he'd be able to get her back into Negaspace. And even if he could, defenses were probably stronger...
The voice near her made her jump, and Cassie blinked rapidly, startled as she looked down. The hand at her forehead came down to press to her collarbone, trying to will herself to not look so alarmed. "O-oh, sorry. I'm Cassie." She turned and offered her hand to the girl, smiling warmly. "Can I ask your name?" She sort of looked similar to the woman in the bed but. Y'know what they say of assume, "u" and "me."

"Hi Cassie, I'm Alex!" She responded cheerfully shaking the hand. She was happy this woman was no longer a stranger and she was clearly nice and probably someone Kailey knew.
"Are you a friend of sis?" She asked currious how the two knew each other.
She then let out a little gasp of realization, maybe this girl knows what happened to her sister. She felt very clever for thinking of it. "Do you know what happened to sis? Why won't she wake up? Please tell me." She asked in what she thought was a very polite voice.

The girl was pretty damn adorable, and Cassie smiled. "Nice to meet you, Alex." Of course, the girl's reasonable next question made her hesitate. Long enough that Alex got off another, sort of worse question.
The girl meant well, of course, Cassie had to bite back a groan to keep her smile in place. How exactly to explain things. Preferably without lying... "I don't know your sister, no, I was just um... in the area when the attack happened, so I was worried about her and the other girl." Not a lie, just awkward since it happened at nearly three in the morning. "And... well. Your sister um... she got hurt by a bad person. I mean... I wasn't there to see it, I got there too late to see anything, but it sounds like your sister got caught in a fight between a bad person and the other girl that's also in a coma." It wasn't a lie! None of it! Just um. A lot of omission.

She let out another little gasp, a bad guy had gotten her sister. Were they the same bad guys who created the monster she fought. "The bad guys miss kitty talked about?"
Well that settled that, she would find the bad guy who hurt her sister and make them tell her how to make Kailey wake up. If they didn't, she would just have to punish them just like the magical girls she loved.
Her little fist clenched around her henshin pen which she pulled from subspace. "I'll just make the bad guy tell me how to fix sis and the other girl then." She said with the kind of confidence only little kids have, as she turned to leave.

Cassie's smile was zapped away into a small, kinda horrified stare when the girl mentioned a miss kitty that had mentioned bad guys. Oh... oh no. Of course the girl confirmed all possible fears for Cassie when she summoned her pen from wherever they go sometimes. She was a senshi. A chibi. Oh god why.
"O-oh n-no, shhh sh sh sh..." Her hands fluttered in a panic before she managed to get her legs to move quick enough to zip past the young girl and over to the door. Carefully looking around to make sure they weren't attracting attention, she shut the door and dug into one of her pockets. The purple and silver pen she brought out sported the symbol of Cassiopeia, and Cassie gave the girl a sheepish smile.
"Since you've got one too, you know what this pen of mine is, and what it makes me." Taking a small breath, Cassie knelt down, putting herself on the other girl's level. "Alex, I understand you want to help your sister and the other girl, but these guys are really dangerous, and finding starseeds is... well, kinda hard." More than a bit.... "Even if we find the bad guy who took their starseeds, he might not have them any more... and if that's the case, we'll need even more help..."
Her voice trailed off, gaze going skyward as her brow furrowed a bit in worry. Assuming they could get that sort of help... Maybe they could just be... super lucky...

Alex's was surprised when the other girl quickly moved in front of her to shut the door. However the ext surprise was much greater. Alex's eyes went wide as saucers as the girl produced a pen similar to her own.
"You're a magical girl too!? A sin-she?" Alex said trying to remember the weird word that miss kitty had called it.
"What's a starseed?" She asked confused at what Cassie said. Was that like a sunflower seed, that made her wonder what they tasted like and where her sister would have gotten one. She had never seen them fr sale in a store.
"Also even if they are tough, we're magical girls that means we're unbeatable." She said confidently, clearly this lady wasn't as well versed in magical girls as she was or she would know such a simple fact. The heroine always wins in the end.

She really, really wasn't experienced in handling kids. Never mind experienced in explaining how the grim reality of otherwise mystical and logic-defying magic worked. "A senshi, yes," she corrected cheerfully, trying to keep her voice down while still--hopefully--properly informing the kid. Like about how to not end up with a Nega hand in her chest...
"A starseed is a crystal inside your chest, kinda near where your heart is," she began, resting her free hand over the area in the center of her chest. "Doctors can't see it, and we can't feel it, but it's your soul, Alex. Everyone has one! And the Negaverse can reach into you and take your soul." She bit her lip, glancing towards the unconscious woman in the bed. "Your sister... that's what happened to your sister. A Negaverse agent took her soul, and that's why she's not waking up now. She's still alive, so she can wake back up if we get it back in time."
She hesitated, unsure if she'd just been too blunt or too graphic for a kid to understand... or handle. Cassie didn't want to frighten her but... well. People can and would die in this war...
Which was why she winced when she heard how confident Alex was that magical girls were so invincible. If only... "Sweetie, it... it's more complicated than that. The magical people--there's lots more people on our side that aren't girls, too--but the magical people don't... always win. It's why we need to be very careful and always be aware of what's going on around us."
She didn't want to frighten her. But... reality... "So we need to be careful about how we go about this, to make sure we help your sister and the other lady, while making sure we are safe as well, ok?"

"They stole Kailey's soul?" She looked over at her older sister, tears welling up in her eyes. No one can survive without a soul right, so if she didn't get it back then Kailey would.....she would never wake up.
"Then I'll just beat them up and make them give back her starseed." She said shaking a little, she was mad now. She would make this agent person pay for hurting her sister.
"But....but we'll win this time....we have to." She said the last part more quietly more to herself than anyone else.
"We'll save them though right?"

Cassie hated making the girl upset. She didn't want to do this, didn't want to shatter the girl's innocence and her enthusiasm for being a senshi but... she had to understand this wasn't like how things were on TV or in books or whatever. People... people died.
Seeing the other girl near tears broke her heart, but Cassie reached out to squeeze Alex's shoulder. The spirit was still there, the enthusiasm... and Cassie couldn't help but smile. "We'll do everything we can to help them. If we work together, and try and track down the agent who attacked your sister and the other girl, then we might be able to find their starseeds. Ok? That's where we'll start, together." Because as much as she hated bringing a child into this fight... it was better than risking the girl running off alone.
Alone was a death sentence.
With others, with friends, there was at least a chance at survival.
