Nova had wanted to outreach to more potential candidates for becoming elders that would be needed in such trying times such as these. She had written one note and was preparing a second when Tendren stepped in from the shadows. Using a silver tongue of words to convince her not to worry about the second one, he himself would handle such things. It was the least he could do to alleviate Nova's tasks that piled up faster than she could complete them, as well as really give it a go at creating a true elder worth the graces of the name itself. He seemed very sure of himself, and the devil himself would be proud of how quickly he diverted her opinion into letting him write this one.
Oh, and he had just the person in mind. Someone who had been through a lot, really seen the face of war and betrayal. This person would grow the seed of what Elder's could truly become, or so he hoped.
It was fairly possible that Nova had rested her faith in the goodness that lay in the hearts of her kind, and that whatever ulterior motive Tendren might have planned would see to a better end than what she knew he was capable of. Maybe even give him a second chance at proving that he could bring forth the unified hope for peace and tranquility among all races. Just as they had tried to before.
Tendren made quick work of writing out a letter on old parchment. Boy, was he a fan for the olden times as with a quill and ink he wrote out his words.
It was still dreary out, rain had come and gone in waves like tears from the skies that knew of what events had recently come to pass. This day was no different, although it would seem during a lighter part of the gloomy weather, a small raven flew fast and with purpose through the skies coming to land in a branch near Ree, making scratching noises over the bark with its clawed feet as it nudged the letter in its beak closer, carefully placing it into Ree's lap before cawing out loudly a few times then took flight away back into the dark skies. The letter, despite being freshly written was on old paper and in an off-white almost burnt colored envelope. The seal on the back bore the mark of Gaia in dark gold color and was accompanied by the imprint of feathers on either side of the symbol in fresh wax. On the front of the envelope was a sporadic cursive that had splattered a bit of ink to the side as though written with vigor and passion: Ree.
Greetings Ree,
I have watched you as of recently from the shadows, viewing your trials and tribulations that you have faced. Truly a remarkable feat to even still be standing with the troubles you have faced along your journey. With the fall of Meta-Human relations, things have only appeared to have declined. The war grows ever closer as now Metas begin to fight themselves and fall farther into strife without even knowing the wave of misfortune they spread to others. Others such as yourself. Knowing how you have stood strong to survive despite all odds and to have come so far on your own, I feel that you are more than suited to join the ranks among the elders: those with the power to change this world forever.
While the challenges you have faced are notably heavy and the crosses you bear are already far beyond taxing, I will be honest that there will only be more obstacles that you will face along your journey in becoming an elder. The road is not easy, but I know that you alone have that potential to walk that path and come from it stronger and wiser. This expedition into transcendence will give you power and wisdom that you can use for bringing something to this world that it's always needed. A little guidance. The only thing is that you must decide what it is that you lack to achieve this for yourself.
Whether it be inner clarity, you could travel to the City of Ebonfall, on an island in the northeast, and seek what they believe is the key foundations to being a true leader in the guidance of others who have lost their way.
It could be possible that you may seek to speak to the gatekeeper of spirits. What seemed to be just a child's fairytale, is but a true being itself. The gatekeeper is the bookkeeper of the spirits that wander this plane. It would not be the first time it has restored something that was never meant to be taken, or so I'm told.
Or you could wish to seek out Gaia herself for a divine gift, they call Symbols of Radiance that would bestow you the power to protect those that still remain in this mortal realm. Artifacts that not only enlighten your spirit and mind but give your strength beyond what you could have imagined.
What you choose for yourself in the end is your choice to make alone. The path you choose to carve will be hard and treacherous, but you have undoubtedly been through your share of hardships, this will simply be no different, only in the end, you will be much stronger for it. The likeliness that you will be able to stay in contact with those you are close to is very small, but I'm sure that is something you can handle within your circumstances, and you may very well be gone for months depending on the destiny that calls you. I have no doubt in my mind that you can complete this, but it is up to you to take the first step.
I wish you the best of luck,
Respectfully Yours, Tendren Alastor
midnightspirit Once you are ready to begin, please respond with Ree's reaction to the above, and his first step towards finding the path he chooses. You may quote "Broken_Illumination" from this point forward.

Ree re-read again the note a few days after he received it. Originally he wanted to pass it off as a joke and still bits of it confused him. Elder? What was an elder? It almost seemed almost like a secret society type club to him until he actually looked up both the sender and Elder in combination then the city of Ebonfall.mThe results were pretty sobering, it made him read the letter in a whole new light. With that it took him a little longer to juggle the options after he decided he would go..more hardships...everything had those it was how you got around them or through them that mattered and if the end was worth it. Having decided a day ago and made arrangement, he now left the hotel room covering his wingtips and hair with Shroud and headed off Ebonfall. His own thinking is that power without guidance or goal was pointless.....dangerous even and at least even if he didn't manage to do what they wanted then he would have likely have learned something he couldn't off Mara? " Off we go" he muttered out loud and took wing.

Ree flew quite the distance already throughout the day, eventually finding landmarks that were similar to the map he had reviewed beforehand becoming more and more frequent. The ocean was closing in as he flew and the island itself wasn't too far off from the shore. Although, there should have been a city at the edge of the mainland that ferried over, but there was nothing but a rubble of what was probably that unknown city. There weren't any signs of where exactly he was, but the landmarks were definitely there. Ree could easily bridge the gap between the mainland and the huge island with his remaining energy used for flight.
Crossing the deep ocean below and reaching the edges of the city on the island, it was desolate in the streets, but there was a lot of shouting in the distance. A lot of it, like a large crowd angry but also excited at the same time as the shouting roared up.
Further up ahead was a group of three younger female humans that were talking just outside of a small general store with worrisome faces. They were clearly young adults that were wearing clothes that didn't exactly look very modern. A fourth woman, a true race fallen with black wings exited the general store and timidly made her way to the other women to join the discuss it seemed, the fallen had her hair tied up into a bandanna and glanced over to Ree with a worried look of warning before immediately returning to the discussion.
Do you want to: Follow the sound of the yelling crowd. Approach the women at the general store Find a government building to get more information about the town. Find an inn to rest at. midnightspirit Please roll a d20 in your response.

Ground ground ground lovely ground..or lovely air ...but not water nope not water. Ree had a faint look of relief as he landed on the island, still wondering about what happened to the mainland ferry and the city it was connected too. That look quickly faded to one of concern as he heard the yelling crowd frowning but not rushing to see what it was, instead looking at the three women then the fallen who gave him an odd look. Shifting his wings slightly he made his way toward them instead, shifting his wings down a little to seem less intimidating and looking unsure instead of confident, something he really didn't have to act out at the moment. " Hello. What is going on over there?" He said quietly motioning toward the sound of the crowd with his head slightly.

The three women noticed as Ree approached, taking in his features and appeared to be confused and slightly worried that he would be talking to them. The fallen, however, looked almost horrified, surprised that he had simply walked up to them even after she had given him a look. One of the human women opened her mouth as if to scold him, her face twisted in anger, but couldn't get a single word out as the Fallen girl suddenly jolted forward and grabbed his hand and took off running with him away from the three humans.
"LIVY!!!" one of the women screamed out angrily.
She didn't respond, just running around a corner and took a few turns before she ran into a currently unused storehouse. "The purification should buy some time before anyone comes back in here..." she spoke through heavy breaths, peeking out of the storehouse before turning to him. "Are you insane?!" she exclaimed then sighed, "I'm going to be in so much trouble..." she muttered. "You shouldn't have talked to them... In fact, just go home." she spoke to Ree before a female's pleading screams broke through the yelling and cheers not to far from where they were now. "You really picked the worst time to come here..." she peeked out once more before looking Ree dead in the eyes. "They are about to purify a magi." she furrowed her brows and shifted her eyes away as she remembered he wasn't from around there. "That means they are going to burn her alive to purify her soul." she explained bluntly. "Look, once the screams stop, you should go." she instructed before turning to try to leave now before she got in any more trouble than she already would be.

Ree nearly pulled back but the look on the human women's face then the look of horror on the fallen changed his mind as he followed her at a run, confused but not questioning it. He assumed she was warning him from the crowd not..them? " A magi but...." He trailed off looking alarmed then shuffled his wings slightly wishing he had been able to find more information about this place as he was starting to get a very bad feeling from what he was hearing. The ne f scream made him jump, teeth bare slightly and the feeling intensified as she continued to speak. As she left he nearly tried to stop her but stopped remembering the furious look on the human's faces. " Thank you " he whispered eyes narrowing slightly, he had to get more information that was for sure. Now he could stay here or move to somewhere close by but...better not. Closing the door he moved a bit always behind where it swung opened and grimaced at the sounds of pledging and cheering as he waited a bit of time. He had to look at least... sliding down to sit he pulled one artifact and then summoned the spirit cat. This time the pain was even worse than before, causing him to double over and clench his teeth as the cat just laid there as they both saw each other. After a bit the cat moved unsteadily onto its legs. Brushing past a few motes of light it phased through the wall and dimmed its light as it headed toward the crowd. Ree sat up slowly taking deep breaths as he realized something was very wrong. (Soul light level 8: spirit cat (4 left) )

The crowd itself was easy to manuever as the crowd stood still in the cheers and yelling.
"Purify the witch! Burn the magi! Purify her soul!" were the words that echoed loudly through the crowd as a large man pulled a girl cast in chains around her neck behind him.
"Please! No! I'm not a magi! You've made a mistake!!" a woman cried out in fear and anger as she struggled against the chains that pulled her along. As the cat caught a glimpse, a very familiar feeling as the woman had long black hair and golden eyes. The man made his way to the staging area, where there stood a thick pole with surround kindle and another man all too excited to light it.
The man threw the woman against the pole as she made a noise of pain through an exhale when it knocked the breath from her lungs. He tied her to the pole tightly and she continued to struggle. "You can't do this!!" she screamed in anger, even if she shouted, there was fear in her eyes. As soon as she was secured, they lit the kindle and she began to panic. "Stop!! No!! Please!! I'm not a magi!! You have to believe me!!!" she screamed in panic as the flames grew closer and she began to cough at the smoke that was building. It wasn't long before the lack of air made her screams die down and the crowd roared up in cheers as she passed out with flames rising up her clothes quickly.

" Mara...." He muttered quietly, knowing he shouldn't get involve not without more information but.... Burning someone because they were Magi or because they had true race mixed in their ancestory... It was what Mara feared and she looked so similiar to her. Clenching his teeth he sighed softly and lowered his head as the cat sat and watched. Blinking the cat focused on man who had originally dragged the women to the pyre then the excited man who had placed the fire. Focusing on the second the cat used telekinisis suddenly to lift the man's right arm and had it swing to the right then it let go and sent kindling from the fire flying into the crowed at the right. It then grabbed the man's left arm and did the same with the kindling to the left. Finally it did a powerful shove at the guy in into the women and her flaming clothes before just shoving the rest of the kindling to the crowd.

The excited man began to scream as his arms moved on their own, kindling flying the directions of his arm. "She's bewitched me!!!" he yelled in a panic as the crowd began to scream and chaos started in as people ran in all directions, trying to get away from kindling that burned at people. A few men ran forward and tackled the previously excited man as he continued to scream. The bigger man that had dragged the woman was then thrown into the flames as he screamed and jolted back to roll, trying to put out the flames. The men that held down the bewitched man took out a knife and quickly ended his life right then and there without question.
The fire was out of control now and the crowd had mostly scattered now, now scared of the power of the magi they had burned. All the while, the woman still wasn't breathing and was held fast to the still burning pillar with her clothes inflames.

Ree let out a shaky breath as he saw what happened, he was going to make this so much worse and he just didn't know how much worse. The cat focused on the man with a knife, waiting until he pulled back a bit to shift direction and slam it into his own leg. Taking a breath the cat got up and moved around the legs of crowd that was still trying to get further away, slamming short burst of energy at the ground and throwing dirt and gravel at the women on fire before spinning it trying to get as much of that dirt into the air before doing it again and waiting.

Now everyone was just screaming and running in the fray of it all. One of the men, slamming the knife into his own leg, screamed out and panic set in fast. The men helped their injured friend up and just got out as the area cleared out quickly from the dirt and fire and mayhem that had ensued.
Soon there appeared to be no one left, just an empty area and the staging area where the embers still burned and the fire had covered most of her body by this point and she still was unresponsive.midnightspirit Please roll a D20 in your response.

The cat blinked and moved around the edges slamming more dirt on her to put out the flames and less into the air. It finally moved up behind her and attempts to heal her first a little attempt to get her breathing.
Ree sighed, fast fast fast that was only a mild break as they all went to get their ...who knows what but it will likely be bad,.

As the dirt kicked up onto what was left of the kindling, the fire slowly died down. The healing, albeit little, was enough to get her to gasp for breath, coughing hard as her whole body hurt from the scattered burns along her skin. She took in a shaky breath as she grimaced, dizzy and disoriented. She wasn't sure what had happened, but it was hard to see, and any movement caused extreme discomfort. She appeared to look around but saw nothing and slumped a bit again, wincing as she did so.
There was still no sign of anyone there as the dirt was beginning to settle in the area and the spread out kindling died down as the embers faded and diminished.

The cat shook it's head tiredly squinting as it pulled back and Ree just sat heavily back against the wall back at the warehouse. The cat felt relieved to hear her breath then looked around for something to break the binds. Seeing nothing in sight it laid its ears back and used its wings to fly up and grab onto the rope by itsclaws. Then it sight teleported off with it, trotting back to do it again with the rope on the arms then finally the chain around her neck. ((Sight teleport: 7 left )) "Mrrrow" it said lashing its tail when it trotted back again.
