APPEARANCE
Short (4' 9") and athletic (she used to swim competitively and has taken up kickboxing since getting out of school), she has no curves to speak of and doesn't care. She likes to change her hair every so often but currently has a pale blonde pageboy cut. Other than her hair, she has fairly typical East Asian features (her parents are both Chinese immigrants).
Face Cast: This Mori or Natural Kei Model Yeah
She calls her style "comfy b***h" and tends to dress in darker colors (and by darker colors she pretty much means black, maybe grey or white if she's feeling particularly bright one day). Dark pants, combat boots, a plain t-shirt or tank, and a statement jacket are her usual get up when she's working indoors. Accessories, other than a watch, are a hassle and the only thing they're good for is getting in the way so she forgoes them. On the weekends, you can find her slouching around in joggers or t-shirt dresses.
She has two sets of field clothes that she only ever wears if she doing field work. Both consist of long khakis, a white t-shirt, and a white long-sleeve button up. She likes arthropods (she has to considering her job) but that doesn't mean she's looking to get Lyme disease.
She has a full-back tattoo that wraps around the front of her shoulders that shows the life cycle of the Narrow-bordered Bee Hawk-moth as well as Devil's-Bit and Field Scabious.
PERSONALITY
[+] Flexible: She doesn't mind a good plan, but she won't let simple set backs put her out of sorts. She goes with the flow and if the flow wants to batter her against a wall, she takes it and then shrugs it off. There's no need to sweat the little things.
[+] Reliable: She always gets the job done, even if she's got to suffer for it. It's not that she enjoys suffering, but she takes pride in being someone that you turn to (for things that need to get done, not for your emotional problems). This applies in and out of her work. She's not a b***h with a heart of gold, but you can bring your issues to her. She'll enjoy knowing that she solved something in your life that you couldn't.
[+] Passionate: The things (and yes, just things, not people, unless you're her parents, grandma, and closest cousin) she cares about, she cares a lot about. Mostly that's insects, art, and paper making, but in the limited sphere of things that capture her attention, she is willing to put in the time and effort to preserve and share those things. It's why she became a science illustrator; not enough people appreciate insects the way she hopes they will if she can capture their beauty and form.
[-] Pretentious: She believes that she's above most people (with better taste) and is willing to let them know that she thinks that. She treats most people with disdain, belittling their tastes or opinions. The only thing she won't belittle is someone's profession (so long as the person seems passionate about it). She's not so much standoffish or actively rude as she thinks that anyone who can't take her superiority complex is too far up their a** (easy for her to say).
[-] Manipulative: She doesn't really think of what she's doing as manipulation, or even thinks much about the act itself at all. She simply tends to sees most people as a means to an end; in that way, some people have utility and others don't. She's not looking to exploit people so much as she sees that some people have things they can give her that she's more than willing to take.
[-] Prickly: She doesn't start conflicts, but she also doesn't go out of her way to avoid them. She knows that she tends to rub people the wrong way and refuses to change her mannerisms or habits. Luckily, she's fairly reclusive, if not she'd probably end up in more fights.
DEITY
Insects (and more generally all animals and their habitats) are one of the few things that Erica genuinely cares about. Her passion for science illustration comes from a desire to get people to care about insects as well and to work for their preservation. Her occupation and life's work makes her natural fit for Artemis.

BACKGROUND
um-- idk, child of immigrants. kinda like the typical story of like.... top tier educated, upper class chinese immigrants. mother was a stay-at-home mom (she was a nurse in China, but it's hard to make it all work after immigrating). father is a pharma consultant (he was a surgeon in China, but that wasn't going to happen in the US)
so..... privileged, but her parents are bitter. dad is a workaholic who is probably going to die of some stress related issue. not that family life is bad, it's fine. loving. her parents are generally great. Erica is shitty and it's not really their fault. she's shitty, she knows it, and she is actively working against allowing that to change so what can they do? like, she was good kid and then decide you know what, i want to be an a*****e so.... Not that she's an actively bad person but she also just doesn't try that hard to be good
was a.... pretty good student, not amazing by anyone's standards, but not bad. but no drive to really go to school for typically academic things, but likes bugs and conservation, so science illustration (and by extension, education) kinda just happened.
probably could have been "something" if she had put in the effort but.... there you go.
(i'll make this pretty one day probably, huff huff, this is, by the way, not at all autobiographical--i more um-- kinda stitched together the lives of friends + other s**t ahaha....)
