Valkerie felt shame. It was her first Viking, her first journey out into the Roguelands, and she had been bested by, of all things, a piece of food. She was a large lioness, surely she should have been able to best some stupid zebra. But no, the beast had warded her off and kicked her, leaving a massive gash across her right hindquarter. To make matters worse, the Captain had told her to wait in the area and recover while they continued on, and her dearest friend, Svana, had been unable to stay with her until they came back.
She supposed she was lucky in one respect - The area was near a pride. The Captain had been unwilling to attack said pride, declaring them a peaceful lot of healers. They were harmless, and served a greater purpose undisturbed. Valkyrie didn't give a damn - Her a** hurt, and she needed somebody to help her with it. She hobbled along, limping heavily as she looked for anybody who might be able to patch her up.

She smelt blood as she can been gathering a few things to bring back to her pride. She had been learning plants by how they smelt and some by small tastes from her mentor and felt confident enough to try her paw at it alone. Then the smell had drifted towards her on the wind. She couldn't tell if it was a prey beast or something else. Whatever it was, she headed toward the direction the wind was bringing the scent.
Hearing grumbling she knew she was getting close. Upon getting closer she smelt lion, at least same species.
"You're hurt." The female said stating the obvious. She had a few herbs on her from when she had put them into a little bag that she had found while she had been out. "I can help you, if you allow me."
Hopefully this other would not try to harm her while she was trying to help. It was a chance to work on her healing skills. Oh her mother would be so proud!

Silver ears shifted as she heard another approach. "Oh thank the gods!" She stopped, rear leg held slightly up. "I was starting to worry everybody was across the pride's lands!" Valkyrie's legs trembled, before she sank to the grass under her. It was probably shameful, simply laying down like this with a stranger around and her not knowing if they were a danger or not, but she didn't care at that point. "Thank you... A zebra kicked me and it left a big cut on me." Looking at the lioness, Valkyrie took her features in. At first, she thought nothing of the pale eyes, having seen some lions with silver eyes before, until she got closer. It was her turn to state the obvious, "You're blind."

Eryxa chuckled at the other and then stopped, "Oh sorry. I'm not laughing at your situation just your observation on my sight." Her ears dancing at the sounds she was hearing as she came up right next to the other. "Seems like its really deep." Although she couldn't see by the smell she could smell a lot of blood. "Do you mind if I just touch it? I promise to be gentle. I just need to assess how bad or deep it might be."
A zebra kick could have broken bone as well and that would also be a terrible pain to deal with other than the cut. "You're lucky to be alive." This new female really was.

Valkyrie let out a hum, ears twitching. "Seems we both were stating the obvious, but mine was ruder, and I apologize for that." She shifted, leg giving a pained twitch as she winced. "Yeah, I think it's kind of deep, it only just stopped bleeding heavily." She looked at her leg, then the blind lioness. "Pain is pain, it's all the same right now, touch away." The pale lioness was thankful for at least one thing - There had been no feeling of cracking when the kick had hit, only the sharp pain of a hoof sliding along her leg, followed by the flow of blood.
Her gaze returned to her leg, and how red it was. With her new position in the grass, the blood oozed in other directions than the sheer path down her leg. "I suppose I AM lucky, that seems like a lot of blood." Was it her divine father's blood that kept her alive? Who knew, she only knew it lent her his bulk and her powers of vision.

Touching the area at first gently she began to feel it a bit more rough. Good. She was right that there was nothing broken. It would be bruised and sore to walk on but at least she'd have a leg. The blind lioness licked the wound, trying to clean out any debris. She had barely registered the words of the other until after she finished that little bit she did.
Pulling back the tawny female smiled at the other, "Don't apologize. It wasn't that bad. So.. this is probably going to sting a lot. I would dig your claws into the dirt."
She turned her head to the bag at her side and tossed it to the ground before rummaging through it. Pulled a few herbs out and began to chew them in her mouth. Mixing the leaves with her spit before putting it back onto the wound. It was going to sting a lot but it would help with the wound.

Valkyrie, to her credit, didn't make noise as the wound was cleaned. She dug her claws slightly into the dirt, grimacing and trying to not tense. Gods but it DID hurt and sting. Still, she let out a huff. "Pain is pain. It'll hurt whether I'm ready for it to or not." She watched the lioness, wondering momentarily how she could tell what she was digging out. After all, she couldn't see. But then when she thought about it, Valkyrie realized that the lioness could probably SMELL the plants, and determine which was which by that alone, followed by touch. When one sense was gone, the others more than made up for it.

She continued to chew up the herbs she knew would help the other female and applied them. Each time doing so the pain would dull until it was but a small ache to the other. She would not be able to move to fast on her own but the female could bring her back to her pride and let her rest there for a time until she was able to leave. Unless of course she did not want to, but it would be a difficult journey for her to go back.
"The pain will recede but the wound will still bleed and reopen if you push yourself. I can help you back to my pride where you can get more healing than what I can do for you. This will help. It will dull." Then she chuckled as she sat back and resettled her bag. "What is your name, I don't believe I caught it. I am Eryxa."

As she grimaced through the pain, she listened to the lioness. Finally, it seemed to stop, as the pain slowly subsided into a dull ache. While a foolish lion might think they could now walk because the pain was gone, she knew her leg was going to be too weak to carry her far yet. At least she'd have time to recover enough from her injury for the party to get back to her. "My name is Valkyrie. And... Thank you." She glanced at the lioness, frowning just slightly. Finally, she shifted. "Hopefully the viking party returns soon... I don't know how long I'll survive on my own while waiting for them to come back and pick me up." At least the captain had been more concerned with her safety. He had applied logic about how an injured lion would slow the party down, but he had also pointed out that if she walked on it instead of resting and trying to recover as much as possible before the return home, she'd exacerbate the injury and cripple herself. Resting and recovering while she waited for them to come back meant she would be able to go on another viking later, and for that she was grateful.

"I can wait here with you until they return. I am a healer and you are under my charge right now." Although she was a bit wary of the viking party, she'd stay to be of assistance. "If you ever need assistance again, we can always assist you. Try not to hurt yourself again so badly Valkryie." Chuckling as she just laid down. She was going to just stay with her charge. For her first ever healing she think she did so very well.
Valyrie was going to be okay. The lioness was going to heal from this. She laid down next to her. Ready to wait with her until her party came to collect her. She would explain the situation and make sure they took her carefully before she would return home. Even give them a few herbs they would need to apply every so often to her wound so that it would heal.
