Yggdrasil's known reaches extend to about the size of Asia. However, the area that the Elykosi inhabit, at the base of the World Tree, is around the size of Texas. Parts of it are still largely unexplored, though, and eventually Elykosi may move beyond this territory.

Closer to the tree it's a heavily wooded area with rocky outcroppings covered in mosses and lichen. There are small waterfalls and many nooks and crannies that lead to caves. There are cliffs and ravines brought by the massive roots of the world tree.

The mana leylines that flow beneath the ground occasionally break the surface, leaking into the sky and surroundings. They infuse mana into anything around it, making them favorite feeding spots for Elykosi.

As one moves farther from the World Tree, there aren't as many trees, but there are more and more grottos, meadows, and lakes. The creeks have merged into rivers.

Pet Name: Vynwood
Vyn is pronounced, "vinn," but is similar enough to represent "vines" as they drape down from the treetops in a mellow, but serene fashion. Although Vynwood's deep green hues appear as if shading the sun from the depths of a forest, his twinkling orange soul still shines through. He is born unto the land with the sole intention to protect the woods; and he will fall before he allows it to come to ruin.

Pet Quote: May the winds never unearth your roots.

Type & Personality: Woods Walker
Vynwood paces through the forest with a purpose. He is calm, gentle, but firm. Those who come upon the inner woods will be enforced to comply with the rules of the land, or leave. Those who do not comply... will relinquish their rights upon their inevitable defeat in battle.

The light broke through the thick treetops that carefully shielded the layered ground below. The moss curling round the roots of a particularly large sequoia tree wavered slightly as a low and brisk wind blew by. The wind picked up, swirling in the air and weaving in and out of the roots that stood above ground. Mana leylines that lingered in the soil were absorbed through the roots and lay like dewdrops atop of them, crystalizing into the form of a sunburst orange jewel as the wind swirled rapidly around it. The jewel gleamed and sent out bursts of energy as the sunlight broke through the treetops and activated the power shaking within.

The bursts of energy, mixed with the shaping of the wind and materials of the mana leylines, became a wild mess of tentacles that were delicate and partially transparent as it shielded the orange jewel hidden inside. The wind died down, gently wavering around the jewel as it awoke, creating a memory-bank and sense of awareness. It floated about a foot off the ground, taking in the surroundings and establishing a home base for future reference.

As the sun began to set, the wisp attempted to test the field. It floated left, then right; up, then faltered downward. As it became confident, the leaves rustled behind it and scared it to the point of hiding within the base of the nearby sequoia tree. It peeked out, but dared not venture out into the depths of the night; tomorrow would come. For now, it would take rest.

Night had come and gone long before the young wisp had woken up. The sun crept into the woods at an angle, hitting the reflective, smooth bark that gave way to the wisp's location inside. It started as a small glimmer of light that barely lit half of the wisp's body; but as the sun moved, so did the light, until finally it hit the sunburst orange jewel head-on. It glowed in response, charging the stone until the light became blinding and radiated a kinetic energy that made the wisp wake with a bit of a start. It couldn't comprehend what was happening, but second nature told it that it was welcome. It was warm, filling it with energy and comfort, like a babe being fed from a mother's bosom.

When filled completely, the stone shot out another energy blast and attracted the mana leylines from the tree's roots like a magnet. They swarmed towards the stone and began to harden, attempting to resist its gravitational pull as the extreme heat emitting from it turned it into a solid. What was formerly transparent tentacles began to flatten and melt together, making an outer layer like that of an elongated sphere. As the gravitational pull weakened, using up the last strong force the sunburst orange jewel could muster, the mana leylines stopped gravitating towards the jewel and settled, once again, like dew drops upon the roots of the tree that enclosed the creature.

The jewel, still glowing, was pulsating as if in a whisper. There were no more gravitational pulls, and only the slightest warmth being spread throughout the spherical, hardened shell that had been formed. The sun was setting once again, a day fulfilled and energy to be restored.

In the middle of the night, it began to rain.

What started as a sprinkle quickly evolved into a downpour, and the tree could not block the small creature from all the sides the wind swept in the rain. The shell enclosed inside of the tree was paper thin, and easily broken. A few drops of rainwater began cracking the shell, and as the rain picked up, the shell continued to chipped away. The creature inside was only a babe; a small, fox-like creature that was as vividly green as the treetops themselves. Another droplet fell upon his cheek, revealing small strokes of a golden yellow lining his delicate eyes. As the rain continued on, the shell broken apart bit by bit, revealing the babe in all his splendor, his virgin fur casually clumping together as it got more and more wet.

The babe could not see, but he could feel; his sense of awareness told him where he was, and that he should not be afraid. He could smell the calmness in the air, not a creature to be heard in the woods; only the pitter patter of insistent rain against the tree's outer bark. The babe picked himself up enough to move farther inside, and tucked his head under the curved walls. The sunburst jewel from before turned into an established crystal emblem upon his forehead, and continued a pulsating glow to heat his entire body. It wasn't long before the hymn of the rain and the warmth of his crystal lured him to a deep sleep; and he welcomed it.
