Tom was still getting used to being... here. Honestly he still wasn't sure why he had been chosen by Apollo and so far hadn't really discovered why he was here anyway. So far he had mostly been wandering around himself, checking out the laboratory, the gymnasium and the fields. Those at least appealed to him. So far though classes hadn't started and he wasn't quite sure what to do then, other than try to mingle and make acquaintances. Really he hoped that they would learn more about what they were supposed to do once classes finally started and he would at least have an idea of where to start. So, he was just walking around the Prytaneum, taking in the buildings and sights.

Beyond dwelling on his dilemmas and the sudden change of circumstances in his life, Osmond found there wasn't much to do around the Prytaneum besides mill around in his dorm room or take in his new surroundings and nature. It seems there were plans in the future for the new recruits, but what exactly those were still up in the air at this point. For the umpteenth time, he let out a sigh as tried to reason with himself that magic was real and he had been blessed by a goddess. This thought never left him, even as he strode down one of the paths with his hands shoved in his pockets.
His head was bowed and his brow furrowed as he walked like Atlas shouldering the world's problems. Black eyes only flicked up once when he crossed paths with another man. Blinking, he suddenly jerked around to Tom and flashed a smile.
"Hey," he called out to him. "Out on a walk, too?" Osmond walked up to him. "I haven't seen anyone else around; guess everyone's been off doing their own thing after the tour."

Tom saw another man, older than him at least, walking around too and they crossed paths quickly. The man didn't seem to be going to anywhere in particular and before Tom could turn and call out, the other man already had. Tom turned around and smiled at the man, quickly walking over to him. "Yeah I was just checking the place out. There isn't much to do here yet and I was getting kind of bored in my dorm room so here I am." He replied, chuckling a bit. "I haven't really seen anyone else either, but we're talking now at least. I'm Tom Wolf, just finally finished my residency and then got recruited to... here." He still wasn't quite sure what "here" was. "Honestly, no idea what we're supposed to be doing here yet. I hope they tell us soon."

Osmond's gaze lingered on their surrondings for a minute; the plethora of trees and the rise of buildings giving him a congenial sense of deja vu. The Prytaneum really looked and felt like his old college campus; it was likely why he felt some comfort there.
To Tom, he said, "Same, same. Down to the getting-bored-in-my-dorm part, haha. This place is pretty big and there's a lot to take it. Was also the best way to pass the time besides staying in all day. Seems it's gonna be some time before they put us to work, aha."
Come introductions, he forwarded a hand out to Tom for him to shake. "Pleasure, Tom," he said. "Name's Osmond Rosalind, chosen of Demeter. You?"

Tom shook the other man’s hand with a hearty firm shake, like one you would give to someone you were first introduced to at a work meeting. “Nice to meet you Osmond. Yeah, not sure what there is to do here besides wander around for a bit and do some sparring. I brought some books along but I can’t be stuck inside reading all day.” “Chosen of Apollo, not sure why though but I think it’s mainly my occupation. Of course I don’t know what I’m supposed to do here yet anyway so this is still a bit nerve-wracking.” He wasn’t even sure how he had been blessed. He thought it might be something instantaneous but so far… nothing.

"Apollo, huh? Sun guy, or Louis XIV if you feel so inclined." He gave a little laugh and then winced when he realized that, yea, the gods still existed, y'know. He glanced up to the heavens sheepishly. "Oh sheesh, I hope he didn't hear me. Well, he probably did, but please let it slide, ahaha."
To Tom, he asked, "How did he come to you? I mean, did he talk through a television? Talking alligator? Big mystical light? Seems how they do is in various ways, but amusing nonetheless. They sure do lack some tact, though." His smiled wavered in empathetic understanding to Tom's uncertainty. "Yea... I know what you mean. To have to drop out of your life and come here is a big change. Especially in the span of a week."

Tom looked up at the sky too. “It’s going to be a little… difficult when mentioning the gods. I mean before I guess we didn’t really have to worry about arbitrarily insulting them but now…” Hopefully he wouldn’t anger some other god like Zues or Ares. “I mean the internet has been invented, you would think they could take a little joking.” He shrugged a bit. “He popped up in my ebook that I was reading. I was quite tempted to throw it against a wall and run.” On one hand it was an $800 piece of equipment, on the other he didn’t want to be seen as a crazy person who was seeing things. “What about you? Maybe Demeter is a bit less heart attack inducing? I haven’t heard how anyone else has been contacted yet.” His smile faltered a bit. “Well, it’s going to be a bit harder for me back uh… home. I was looking for a job then and I’m not sure how hard that’s going to be now that I’m here for a while.”

"As I said to another chosen said before, the gods work in mysterious ways..." Osmond folded his arms across his chest. "Heck, even snail mail would've been appreciated. There are better options, y'know." This was directed more to the heavens than Tom himself.
His eyebrows quirked up. "Oh, sheesh, that is creepy. Thank goodness you didn't, could've been shelling out more to buy another. And, of course, Apollo wouldn't take responsibility." Osmond shifted from one foot to the other. "Ah, well, Demeter came when I was in the middle of talking about something with my daughter, Ellie. Just drowned out her voice and spoke me name. Spooked me something fierce that I raced to the bathroom and continued our little convo on the toilet." He laughed gently. "My daughter thought I had to take a bad s**t."
"Excuse me, or just, like, ignore me if this is insensitive, but the brighter side is that you've got something to do until then? The job market has been rather s**t lately... At least, while you're here, you don't have to worry? For too long?" Osmond's lips became a slanted line on his face. "Or is that too optimistic?"

Tom chuckled a little bit. Well, at least he hadn't been the only one suprised when contacted. "Well, it would have been a bit hard to say 'yeah, Apollo contacted me while reading a book and so I threw this at the wall. Does the warranty apply to Greek god inflicted damage?' Would have been a little strange at least." Hearing Osmond's story, he laughed a bit. "Sorry, sorry. Not laughing at you, but it just makes me think of if someone was contacted while doing their business in there." He had to try to stifle his laughter a bit. "I think they contact us sometimes in the weirdest possible ways, just so they can have some entertainment from our reactions." Tom shrugged a bit before letting out a sigh. "Well, I could have moved back in with my parents if I was desperate. I just want to have a job, I didn't go through all of this training for nothing. But yeah, I've got something to do, even if I don't know what that something is. What about you though? Just curious about all of this?"
