As June slipped into July time fast forwarded to the hotter months baking the ground beneath the sun. Thankfully, there was a fluid breeze within the scorches but it was still uncomfortable. Lately, there had been storms raging within the mid month of the year causing al in the inhabitants of the Kawani lands to seek cover. The ground being thoroughly soaked was a godsend leaving the ground soft and cool beneath your hooves as you traveled outward into the world once again.

One mare in particular had tried making the best of things within those sudden downpours keeping herself within a tree filled natural grotto. She'd done a good bit of sulking not being able to soak in most of the sunshine that inspired her songs and melodies. She'd paced endlessly waiting for the rain to stop only to be disheartened by another spell. It seemed a bit off the weather was so strange as it weaved some unanimous spell around the land. Many times she seated herself along her haunches a semi curled tail curving around her for comfort. Sometimes she even fell asleep this way as her downhearted personality really exposed itself when the sun went away for the day.

Slowly, she opened her eyes with a yawn as a voice prompted her to awaken, "Mmmm just five more moments she murmured closing her eyes again".

Sitting just inches from her outside the grotto there appeared a bear dressed in a pirate hat, "Arr Melody. The rains have stopped. Best you be getting yourself up and stop moping about".

Melody yawned again feeling stiffness in her legs "Huh?" now she noticed her traveling companion had returned. "Honaw you'll get wet out there" she squinted with one eye not realizing it wasn't raining anymore.

The bear rolled his eyes followed by a shake of his head, "Rain won't kill you lass. Besides the clouds have dried up so stop pretending they aren't".

The mare yawned again pulling herself to her feet, "It stopped?" opening them wider a smile painted over her expression bringing her old self back. Once upon her feet she yawned again then proceeded to the grotto door, "Well how was I supposed to know it stopped. Its been raining buckets for days now". sighing she moved past him as her hooves sunk down in the soft moist ground. Turning to look at Honaw she tossed her head, "Well, what are you waiting for already let's get going".

The bear rolled his eyes as he stood upon four legs grumpily, "With all that caterwauling I'm surprised you didn't wake the dead. Where are we off to anyway?" he growled following her.

Melody turned with a smile as she regarded the grumpy bear, "It's a new day with perfect sunshine. Perhaps something exciting will happen. Maybe even something to inspire a new song." Flicking her ears she stepped out into the warming light and laughed, "Raining sunshine indeed". Then she laughed for a song had slipped into her mind so curiously but with purpose, "It's raining sunshine... OOOooh sweet sunshine". Then with a kick up of her heels she trotted out further into the warming light. Feeling her curly mane bounce playfully about her neck she could help but smile. Like a filly she pranced shaking her tail feeling the soft blue tresses swish back and forth behind her. It definitely would be a fun day for her heart yearned to sing as did her soul after the rains released the sun to make the world brighter again.

Honaw shook his head with a small smile, "Never a dull moment around you Melody". He then hurried after her hoping they find some nice fish in the streams today.

Splitting sounds combined with the furious rumbles that echoed from the ground. Strange scents following unfamiliar sights confused and deterred creatures from their normal habitats. Lately, the air had been thin causing the sky and land dwellers to migrate to unknown lands. The storms particularly had been unnatural cracking huge lightning spears to fall from the sky striking trees from below. Some rumored the end of days as herds migrated farther away from the niches they called home. When the final strike ripped a humongous tear in the sky all the inhabitants ran for that dreamscape away from the nightmare.

Nesting high within a tree a female covered in feathers awoke with a start. Eyes widened in terror she looked around noting the storms had ceased leaving a calm remaining world in its farewell. Sniffing the air she yawned stretching her wings stiff with fear coursing through them. Dreams were vivid lately reminiscing of the disastrous visions that occurred nightly. Shaking her feathery mane she slid off the branch into a smooth glide which soon propelled her upward toward the clouds. Perhaps it hadn't been a dream she pondered looking around the surroundings. Leaning her body she flapped her wings remaining the glide she had started with leading her toward a fast running stream. Tilting her head she listened watching the current as her form swooped downward catching a salmon leaping to its spawning ground. Then she glided over past the stream to land on the grass enjoying her meal. Noting after a few attempts of catching fish her impression was satisfying on the simple tactics it took to capture a decent meal. Lowering her head she tore hungrily at the fish leaving nothing but glistening bones in their place. Snapping up the bones quickly she swallowed them delightfully. Returning to the air she glided inward gathering salmon spawning upstream for a few hours always delighting in the new taste that tickled her palate.

After her appetite was sated she returned to the perch her instincts called home gripping the branch tightly setting in for the day. Memories trickled in of this strange nightmare reminding her how the food source before had literally vanished leaving many of her kind and others to perish in starvation. Letting out a deep breath she sighed feeling the breeze ruffle her feathers. The nightmare was over leaving her alone to her thoughts. Closing her eyes once again the creature pondered what she'd do after her nap for the day. This land was indeed new but it gave reason to explore. Letting the summer scents fill through her she noted different unique things such as the salted currents, marsh covered lands, forests, even dry tinges noting the Northern lands were untamed with extreme temperatures.

Opening one eye she yawned again hoping the nightmare with the tear in the sky would be at bay. Then she closed it settling into a decent sleep once more that would awaken her to the next awaiting meal.

Along the ground she stepped lively and full of energy while her companion grumbled along her side. Things were so full of energy and positive vibes that it seemed almost too perfect. Humming to herself Melody almost tripped over her hooves when a giant shadow loomed overhead or her mind told her her that was the end of the world sneaking upon them. Scrambling behind a tree her hindquarters shivered as her body leaned down on her knees in an unusual manner.

"Wha... wha was that?!" she gasped for air looking around rapidly.

"Arr I haven't a clue Melody. Seems something survived the sea and took to the air. Nothing I want to be meetin' in a dark alley".

"Oh that's purely sarcasm on your part! We'll I think anyway. What was it?!" she shivered trying to hide her muzzle between her hooves.

"Melody. that really looks uncomfortable. Pull yourself up off t' ground before you get stuck like that", he growled trying to figure her out with her antics. Melody could be a bore some days but she was hoot to follow around most of the time.

Melody gritted her teeth pulling herself to her hooves placed firmly in four upon the ground. Her head was once again in the air nowhere near where she had posed herself before. Curiosity was never in her best interest though she needed to know what that giant shadow was. Taking a deep breath she braved the odds and looked outward at the impending doom. Her voice remained silent as her eyes widened into terrified orbs of watery glass.

Honaw's mouth gaped open taking her expression which made his own gaze capture what spooked her. His first note was this creature was definitely a sea bird of some type but, the size was unreal. It seemed to be a Soquili like Melody but this critter was much more in gigantic proportion toward the tree. He tilted his head in confusion as his eyes followed the mass of purple, indigo, and red as it tore apart the fish abruptly devouring the bones. Scrunching his nose he thought of never liking those thin bones that poked you in the throat. Apparently, this creature was having a meal of his salmon that were on their spawning run. He growled then looked at the skittish pink mare.

"Melody, we best be gettin' out o' here before it likes somethin' other then fish" his tone was gruff but it was straight to point like a sharp sword jabbing deep within. He hoped he wasn't to abrupt with the frightened mare for she could get just a little overbearing and anxious. Before he could speak again she took off in a gallop screaming her head off. Lowering his head he grumbled, "Ugh now its goin' t' definitely know we be here. Darn it Melody! Quickly, he gave chase after the spooked mare as she screamed running off in the opposite direction.

The mare did indeed scream as the beast within the tree finally made eye contact with her. Heeding slightly to Honaw's words she bolted screaming, "Monster! There's a huge Monster bird in the tree! Run!!!!"
Little did she know but those loud words startled the giant Soquili which now was giving chase. Galloping even harder she bolted back to that cave wishing it was still raining.

Closing its eyes resulted in curiosity as a strange flightless mare and a foreign creature walked beneath her perch. Curiosity indeed it tilted its head wondering just they were doing in this new territory. No matter for the moment as its stomach grumbled demanding more of its favorite meal for the time being. Strangeness surrounding this new land made her wary to be here surrounded by the unknown. Leathery appendages stretched outward ready for flight once more. Regarding the situation things would of remained neutral until the pink mare decided to create a scene cowering behind the tree. Tilting her head the Pteranodon mare became almost transfixed by the capricious nature of something in good spirits turned into prey. With eye contact met the newcomer waited to see what the frightened mare would do. Ponderings erupted simultaneously if this jittery creature would stand her ground or would she flee to give chase. Turning her head the female now transfixed on the cowering mre with her rear sticking upward shaking like a leaf.

As the pink mare bolted with her creature companion in tow so did the winged female follow. It was a ragged chase with the sacred creatures zig zagging all over the place. Keeping upon their trail she hovered over them a giant shadow always looming yet never making contact. In the winged creature's eyes she noted just how alike this mare resembled her without appendages, feathers, nor claws. Deep in her mind the Pteranodon almost pondered this mare she shadowed was perhaps a relative of her own species. Usually, being reclusive this creature tended to keep to herself but curiosity glimmered in her eyes wanting to find out just what she was chasing be it friend or foe. Eyes narrowing on their targets she swooped downward nearly causing the pink mare with the curly blue hair to roll into a somersault. Laughing to herself she noted the brown furry beast did roll in a complete circle over the ground causing it to fall flat on its stomach. Truth be told she was the smallest of her flock back where they called their now destroyed nests home. Here her size was much prominent causing terror in the subspecies she was playing with.

Internally the female knew what she was doing was wrong but her instincts mingled with her heart spoke only fun nothing malicious. Feelings of freedom lifted her leathery wings now turning for another assault from the air. Shadowing the frightened mare now darting in a different direction she dived again causing her to scramble and duck on those front legs of hers. Once again the rump was high in the air waving like a distress signal. Soon though the Pteranodon mare grew bored in her game circling around to land firmly against the ground near the frightened mare and her furry companion.

Stepping forward she spoke, "Thank you for humoring me. It's been ages since I could do that in the flock". Sure there would be repercussions but the mare hoped the other female would understand and be a little conversational for a while to at least discover who they were. For that matter this place she and her other kin had traveled to from that giant rip in the sky.

Playing out like a action scene a familiar mare stood calmly watching the scene play from beginning till its end. Melody had literally been scared out of her wits by some strange Soquili-like creature from the beyond. It was a bit disheartening at first glance but realization glimmered once it was purely viewed at as a rouse. This huge giant among the Soquili was merely confused in a land she did not know. Nodding with a sigh the watchful mare made her way toward the trio knowing no harm would befall her. Sheer size revolving around this female was simply mind blowing as the watcher stepped outward in the open.

" Êl síla nan lû e-govaded vín" she spoke with soft eyes upon the trio, "Hello once again" her words not of her native species but ones Melody would understand. Now she looked upon the "monster" pink mare had screamed about for the past ten minutes or so. Definitely something to marvel over this creature seemed not of this world. Her sheer size made that apparent along with her leathery wings with clawed tips. The crest upon her head sat high like a crown formed of rough bone attached to her forehead.

"Glass nín le gen govaded" she spoke once more repeating her tongue to the others, "It is my joy to meet you". This expression was given to the giant female in a symbol of peace. "Arwen i eneth nínof the Northern woods. Mae tollen stranger".

Now her attention turned to Melody and Honaw whose muzzles hung wide open from pure shock. She smiled lightly with her lucid blue orbs. "She was merely playing with both of you. Come now she is a stranger to this land respectively". Her ears flicked toward Melody now noting the pink mare was calming down a bit. Her furry escort had already regained his composure staring at Arwen in wonderment where the delicate unicorn had emerged from. Smiling lightly she laughed to herself knowing her arrival probably set most of them into shock. The biggest amusement other than Melody was the giant bird Soquili whose transfixed stare was directly upon the Elven unicorn with much curiosity. Perhaps it was the fact her head was adorned with a mithril headdress or simply the garment that laid around her form like a light cloud.

"Man i eneth lín?" she murmured, "What is your name ancient one?" her voice was respectful wondering just what was streaming through the female's mind. There was no scent of hostility within Arwen's evaluation or her just simple curiosity. Truth be known greetings always opened a bud to a fully blooming flower within a simple conversation. If ever there was a creature capable to make that flower bloom it was Arwen. Much like the forest she lived within her internal power of positive ethereal energy could cause calmness like the light cool rains within the summer void of storms.

Feeling at wits end the pink mare screamed at the top of her lungs feeling all her courage fleet away like a migrating bird. Deep inside when the creature much larger then she landed upon the ground she feared the worst. Eyes widened in terror she clenched them shut hoping this fate was instantaneous with little pain. When nothing happened she blinked in dismay trying to capture sanity that loomed out of her reach. What sunned elody worse was the creature's voice in apology for causing such a terror in both her and Honaw. Still her limbs trembled throughout staring awkwardly at the giant antagonist before her.

Honaw carrying his gruff exterior was terrified as well running from the huge colorful bird that loomed over both of them. Purposeful rolling was the only way his mind screamed to escape while keeping up with Melody. Once the pursuit resulted in the creature landing things all came to a climax in this unfolding tale. His mouth once gaped open now slowly closed in confusion. Once he realized that this creature was only looking for good spirits he breathed in relief. Now his next step was to get Melody back to her own self. ""Hey Melody stop shakin' in your boots. Relax. She's not goin' t' hurt us. Calm down".

Melody looked at Honaw her moth still gaped as her ears were lowered, "Okay I know now you meant no ill meaning from all of that but you darn well scared the living daylight out of both of us". She snorted feeling quite embarrassed very mistrustful of a creature large enough to snack heavily upon a sweet mare and succulent bear.

Honaw understood where Melody was coming from but a good folly sometimes lifted the spirits even in the wrong way of planning things out, "Melody look she was just tryin' t' have a little fun. Arr! that she was a bit in t' wrong but what's done be done".

The little mare sighed straightening up a bit, "I know Honaw. Like I said I was scared. Hearing another voice she noted a familiar figure stepping out from the bushes. "Arwen?" she spoke with curiousity, "How long have you been standing there?"

Honaw was caught off guard as well with Arwen's strange arrival. Shrugging though he welcomed it as a godsend to lighten the tension in this little circle.

Melody managed a smile seeing Arwen not taking offense to the creature she referred to as "ancient". Whatever could that mean she wondered looking curiously back to the larger bird of them all. Surely, her kind was not native to this land that was for sure. Of course there was walkers, kalona, and other strange oddities in the kawani lands and beyond but nothing like this. Clearing her head she tried smiling mire reverting back to her old self, "Alright let's do introductions the right way shall we?". Standing taller as she could she tossed her blue curled locks as her eyes shone brighter, "I'm Melody singer, songwriter, extraordinaire! My traveling companion is Honaw and well you've met Arwen. So the big question here I'm sure all of us want to know is where are you from"?

Honaw noticed Melody had relaxed a bit since she had screamed her head off feeling like her time had come. Now she straightened more letting her old self shine through with a beaming radiance, "Arr! with Melody wonderin' where it be you hail from? I've never seen a bird your size in any o' me travels with me sea legs upon land".

The pink bubbly mare wondered what this creature's story consisted of being away from home from the sounds of her speech. Her words carried an odd accent so she definitely wasn't native here. Tilting her head she fully let herself gaze upon the "ancient" creature without ill thoughts. She carried feathers instead of a mane and a tail that was shortened like Frosta's Snowden. Her wings were unlike anything the perky little mare had ever witnessed before though they were close to a kalona's wings. Leathery in appearance that carried claws smaller than the ones on her feet. The most striking thing about her was that large crest that sat upon her head like a crown almost. Formed of bone it caused her size along with her wings to appear more intimidating than her personality truly was. Overall this specimen was remarkable leaving thought open to her being a friend on their side rather than a foe out to try new cuisine. Leaving chances to fate Melody waited to hear the story of this creature including where she hailed from and who she was in this eye opening tale.

Such wonder and curiosity filled the Pteranodon mare as she gazed downward at the inhabitants of this land. A foolish pink mare who lightened after the scare was forgotten, a grumpy bear, and finally a wise unicorn far in knowledge that she had ever witnessed in er lifespan. Her trivial game gave her spirit but also remorse scaring the others knowing she had to make friends over the usual enemies if her mindset was tuned in to survival. The best thing the great bird-like creature could do now was introduce herself.

"I'm Kararaui from..." she paused looking around her not even knowing the place she was from, "The higher mountains near the volcano's rise". Her golden eyes settled upon the newcomers curiously again wondering what this land was indeed called. The foliage wasn't familiar nor was mountains to the far North whatever those creations were called. Even the subtle breeze was different in scents and smells. Perhaps her dreams of escaping that travesty weren't too far off from the truth. Her sight had been blinded when the sky tore open heading away from the falling rocks and trembling ground. Her look now convinced the others she was truly lost combining with continuous swivels of her ears. "I guess you could say" the large female responded, "I've lost my home to a strange storm along with my flock".

The feeling was heartbreaking but reality is what it is combined with confusion and other things of the unknown. Her thoughts settled then focusing on the other creatures standing before her, "Wonderful to meet the three of you. I'm curious what exactly are your species? I'm not saying this to be mean just in curiousity". Her feathers ruffled along her neck along with her clawed talons scratching at the ground, "What's a singer, songwriter, extraordinaire?" she queried to Melody then turning to Honaw, "Your speech is unique. What exactly are you?" Then her attentions turned toward Arwen one of the biggest curiosities of all, "Why did you call me ancient one? Does my kind not walk upon this land or fly even?"

Now the Pteranodon female was feeling lonely without knowing where her home was nor why she was here. Being reclusive kept her from harm's way but now she regretted ignoring the warning signs of the trembling ground. Everything within that span of time had moved like a flash of lightning carrying every creature into this realm or somewhere different. Carnivores, vegetarians, omnivores, they all fled their homes as the great rocks rained downward destroying everything in their path. Kararaui even noted some of the slower creatures painfully struck by those rocks closing their eyes as they cried out in agony. She shuddered remembering those sounds yet her instinct to flee carried er into the darkness soon enveloped by the light.

It wasn't a dream it was reality making the female realize this was her home now.
