There were few things that Sabine liked more than the parks of Destiny City. They tended to be peaceful (save for the rare occasion that officers of the Negaverse managed to make their way into the parks, but so far that had been rare.) They were her oasis in the city, a place she could go and gather her thoughts and remind her that not everything was pain and strife and war.

Sometimes Phact was there. Sometimes she wasn't. Sabine had given her friend some space as of late, having been focused on boy issues (which she was sure Phact would tell her to not worry about) and also mentally gearing herself up for the self-defense training she was going to be undertaking in a week. Well, provided Phact's cousin kept true to his word.

But he seemed like an okay guy.

She removed a glove and dipped her hand into the cool water of the fountain by which she sat, and looked out at the world around her. It would be nice to see this war ended... Sooner rather than later.

Caia was a basic senshi in all senses of the word. He was basically as weak as they could come, and knew only what information had been given to him by a cat and knight. He had never even seen another senshi—until now.

Curiosity was likely to be one of his downfalls; he hadn't immediately recognized the signature when it appeared on his radar, but it felt good so he didn't stop himself from meandering towards it. He didn't seem to have a good grip on where something was when on his radar because he burst through a line of trees and then stumbled back, surprised, when he actually saw her.

"Oh—hi," he greeted. He was clearly a bit flustered and trying to brush leaves out of his hair. "You're, uh—you're not a Cat, or a Knight—right? —So I'm gonna go out on a limb—Senshi?"

Sabine had sensed the signature of another senshi approaching and so had remained seated, just slowly swirling her hand in the cool water of the fountain. The nights were still warm in the middle of the summer, and the coolness of the water was a lovely juxtaposition to the warm, almost muggy air outside. So when the young man came barreling through the bush like a large, lost animal, Sabine turned her head and gave him a small smile.

She listened, because sometimes one needed to listen when someone stumbled upon you, leaves in hair and looking completely lost. Pulling her hand from the fountain, she dried it on the hem of her skirt, before slipping her glove back on. Rising slowly from her seat, her boots hitting the cobbled ground around the fountain with a small tik-tak, she smiled, gripping the hem of her skirt once more, and dipping into a rather formal curtsy.

"Sailor Sabine, Senshi of Tactics," She said, as she slowly lifted her head. "It is very nice to meet you." She said, slowly releasing the hem of her skirt and motioning to the fountain as she sat once more.

"Please, come sit, I promise it's much more comfortable than standing around." She said, her small smile growing a bit wider. "Had I know I would have company tonight I would have brought snacks, but sadly, I am unprepared."

"Oh," he blinked, and then shook his head quickly. "No, I'm okay! I wasn't expecting to bump into anyone either, so," he shrugged and his voice trailed off. He moved to sit next to the fountain, seeming a bit relieved that she was a senshi. He seemed a bit jittery still, but once he was seated he extended his hand. "I'm Caia, Senshi of Cardinals. It's nice to meet you. I've been a bit slow at taking all of this in," he explained slowly. "I haven't been a Senshi for very long, but I've been feeling bad about, you know, not really doing anything. But it's…not really easy, sneaking out, keeping it hidden. I'm—oh," he sat up straighter and placed his hands in his lap, as though he'd suddenly had a thought.

"I'm sorry, that's," he laughed, "Really probably not how introductions are supposed to go! What I mean is," he paused to extend his hand, "I'm very happy to meet you, Sabine. And I'm very happy that you are a Senshi and not a bad guy, or I would have absolutely no idea what to do."

Sabine was about to take the young man's hand when it was suddenly in his lap. The extended hand just moved to cover her mouth as she shook her head slowly and let out a small, barely controlled giggle.

"No, no, it's fine..." She said, once more extending her hand out to him for him to take. "This is a perfectly find introduction, it's nice to meet you Caia." she said with a small nod of her head.

His last statement though gave her pause for a moment and she chewed the inside of her cheek. "Well simply... If I had been an agent of the Negaverse or a Youma, you'd of probably had to fight me... or run away... And the latter option is no mean feat half the time... The Negaverse are out for blood. I have met very few that will simply abide us being around."

Caia glanced at her, smile returning to his face. His hair seemed to fall in his eyes and he reached one hand to tuck his stray bangs behind his ears even as he reached his other hand to take hers. "It's nice to meet you, too," he said, giving her hand a good shake. He didn't drop it, but he seemed to be a creature who appreciated physical contact.

"…Chances are, if you had been a Negaverse agent or a youma, I would have run. I don't think I'm a coward, but I think it's important to know that there are some battles you just can't win. I didn't grow up on the safest street, and I don't even think I could count how many times I ran home. But I'm pretty sure that’s saved me more times than I can count. Besides—what's the point of having long legs if you're not using them?" he asked, gesturing towards his legs with the hand not still in Sabine's.

"Besides, I'll fight when I have to, but my brother is extremely overprotective. He'd notice if I came home banged up and—well—I just don't think his heart could take me being a senshi. I still haven't figured out how to break it to him, but I am both a terrible liar and terrible at keeping secrets."

Sabine listened to him and mulled over his words for a moment, before looking down at her own lap and slowly letting go of his hand, her own moving to rest lightly against the hem of her skirt.

"You... can't tell him." She said softly, but in a tone that sounded like her heart was breaking to deliver him this news. "I hate to say it, but telling him is only going to put him in more danger."

She lifted her head finally, looking at Caia with a somewhat sad expression. "I know it is hard, but this is a secret you're going to have to bear. If he knew who you were, and the enemy got a hold of him..." Sabine shuddered at the thought.

"I have seen what they can do to people, Caia... Death... Death would be a blessing to what they subject people to."

Caia blinked and sat up a little straighter; he'd had Hyperborea tell him to share the information, and Sabine tell him not to, and he'd already been conflicted enough before this.

"No?" he prompted uncertainly. "…I mean, I don't want to put him in danger—but my brother's one of the most capable people I know. Uhm. Saving-lives and staying alive-wise, I mean." The idea of death—of something worse than death—had left him jarred, but he instead focused on his brother.

"He's not the sort to let something like that happen. He's a police officer, he's spent his whole life looking out for people. And I don't want to put him in danger, but—Sabine," he gave her a very serious look.

"One of these days, my brother is going to find out. I'm trying to keep it quiet, until I know what I'm doing—until I can prove that I'm safer like this than not. Until I know how to convince him that Senshi aren't hooligans hell-bent on causing chaos and tearing up the town. But…" He ran his hand up and down his arm and then looked at her, almost guiltily. "He always finds out about my mistakes. It's like he can see right through me. I just… thought it would be better if I told him, rather than him finding out."

Sabine felt for the young man, she did. It broke her heart to hear him speak about his brother so. She understood that some were willing to expose themselves to those they trusted, but she had learned from Phact that it was a risky game to play. She herself could see that.

"I know it's hard," She said, giving him a small, sad smile as she spoke. "But, the enemy we are facing has zero remorse for using those who love us against us... Worse, are not above using loved ones to try and capture us in their tangled web. What if your brother was captured... Worse... What if your brother is already the enemy? You said he as anti-senshi sentiments... I mean... I know we're not viewed as the est and brightest but..."

She looked down at her lap. "Just... Whatever you do, be careful. It's not a nice world out here and I wish I could say it was all unicorns and rainbows but it's not. Just be ready to have to fight your brother if it comes down to it... If he's the enemy then he will stop at nothing to either drag you to their side kicking and screaming... or worse..."

She felt her body shudder at the thought. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean for this to turn into such a depressing talk... Tell me... How has your night been Caia?"

Caia almost immediately shook his head; he couldn’t even focus on how his night had been when met with the overwhelming need to defend his brother. "No, no," he insisted. "My brother isn't like that. He doesn't know the difference between Senshi and Knight, and he thinks they're all terrors. If a cat tried to awaken my brother, I'm pretty sure he'd chase it off. And if someone tried to recruit him to the Negaverse? No, no. My brother will have nothing to do with gang activity, I promise you. He's like—we came from a bad neighborhood, you know? So he's 'Mr. Law', he's gotta make the world a better place the right way. I have no doubt in my mind that he would never join the Negaverse. Besides! He doesn't have the energy! I know where he is at, like, all times of the day. Seriously, he texts me all the time to make sure I'm out of trouble."

He started patting down his pockets as if looking for his cell phone, only to recall that his personal cell phone was not part of this uniform.

"I might not know about the rest of my friends or the people in my life, but I know that my brother would never, ever, be one of the bad guys. Plus," he bit the inside of his cheek. "…They'd probably kick him out of the Negaverse if he ever did join. He's super against kids being out too late. I can totally imagine him gathering up all their little teenagers and driving them home for curfew."

There was a fond little smile on his face, though; he had absolute faith in his brother. But then, he shrugged and grinned.

"…Besides, he's too obnoxious to recruit for something like the Negaverse. He's loud and pushy and likes his gun too much, anyway."

Sabine just sighed and shook her head. "Do what you think is best, then... Just... Keep in mind that the Negaverse has the power to corrupt others, that includes their minds. It doesn' t matter what your brother believes now... if he was one of them... well..." She shrugged again, weakly. She felt she was just hounding the poor young man.

"I am glad you trust him and look up to him so much, he sounds like a good person..." She finally added, nodding her head. "We need more people like that in this world."

Caia wore a bit of a strained smile and somehow managed to look worried. "He is," he insisted, a bit meeker now. "…But I don't want him to get in trouble. I mean, I guess, to be fair, he probably already has enough in his line of business. I don't know," he sighed, a bit dramatically. "But his name is Jeremy, so if you ever find a police officer with bright orange hair and that name, be extra nice to him. He's a good guy, even if he pretends to be a little rough around the edges. Oh," he paused. "And don't tell him about me. I mean—well!"

He seemed a bit flustered. "…Well, obviously," he concluded, smile drifting back on his face. He seemed a little nervous and drummed his fingers on his knees, but overall it seemed like it was a bit difficult for his cheerfulness to stay gone for too long.

"…But I'm only telling you his name because I trust you. Plus, I don't know. It's weird, all of this. I don't really know anyone, outside of who they are as a Senshi. I heard there are people who hang out together, powered, unpowered. It's a nice thought, I think. I'd like to find people that understand."

Sabine listened for a moment, sitting there on the bench as she listened to Caia talk. Finally, after a few moments, she let out a soft sigh, and reached out with her senses one last time. Not sensing any chaos signatures in the area, or in general any signs of youma. She allowed Sabine to slip away, and Mercy to take her place on the edge of the fountain.

"If you trust me so much, then I suppose I should extend my own trust to you as well... My name is Mercy." She said, holding out her hand to the young man. "It's very nice to meet you."

She would remember this Jeremy name, should she ever have a run in with the police.

Caia seemed surprised, and another smile split across his face. “Oh! Well then,” he powered down after she did and jutted out his own hand to shake hers. “It’s nice to meet you, too! I’m Myles.”

Myles’ outfit was more colorful than Caia’s; he had a fair share of neon colors tempered with a heavy dose of black, and it only seemed to add to his cheerful demeanor.

“And--well, now that I know you’re Mercy, we should hang out some time! Though, I think I am probably a bit older than you. Am I so old that it’s weird? I haven’t quite grasped that yet. I still feel fifteen.” He gave her a look that was meant to be reassuring. “But not in a creepy way. Uhm.”

His lips pursed and he seemed exasperated. “...I mean, hang out as friends and do friend things, in public, and not anything weird.”

Mercy had to let out a small giggle at Myles' bluster. The poor young man didn't know if he was coming or going and to be fair, Mercy was okay with that. She was leery about older men, being so young and having her head filled with horrible stories from her father but still.

"It's fine, Myles, I have friends older than you, we can be friends and hang out." She said with a small nod, reaching into the purse that hung over her shoulder to pull out a phone and hold it up.

"Let's swap numbers so we can set something up?"
