Recently I've been trying out many meditation exercises, yielding some interesting results. 3nodding
I just thought I'd share a few here, and if anyone else has any other meditation exercises to share, then please feel more than welcome to. heart
The first exercise is one which is based off of a similar exercise found in Paulo Coelho's book The Pilgrimage, which is quite an interesting book with some good spiritual exercises in it. I'd post more from the book, but yami-no-aijin is reading my copy at the moment. But, anyways, the exercise...
If you are ever feeling fatigued and need a quick wake up, then this exercise will provide you with such. Close your eyes and hold your spine straight. Breathe in slowly. Focus on the breath. Take in as much air as you can. Feel your chest rise, filling with breath. Release the breath slowly, feeling the chest fall, and continuing to focus on breath. Continue breathing like this until you feel awakened and refreshed. I heard on a science show on tv that you actually get more energy from oxygen than you do from food. ninja
This next exercise I developed when I was on my trip to Mexico. The second day of the trip my group went to Teotichucan, an ancient Toltec city with two large pyramids. I climbed one of them with no trouble, as the stairs were't too steep or uneven, but the second pyramid I wanted to climb, the Pyramid of the Moon, had very steep, uneven stairs, and when I was half way to the first tier of the pyramid, I looked down. Seeing the steep stairs which I would eventually have to get back down, and how high up I was(I have a fear of heights in instances where there aren't any safety rails), I freaked out and turned back. Later in the week, when we went to another ruin site, I wanted to climb the pyramids so badly, yet I kept remembering the incident at Teotichucan. However, with my longing to explore the site and the pyramids, I dveloped this meditation exercise.
When in a state of fear or anxiousness, picture all of your divine love as a swirling ball of pink light within your chest. Breate deeply. With each breath in, picture the oxygen that you take in feeding this fire of love, and with each breath out picture the light extending itself just a little bit further through your body, penetrating through all of your fear, discontent, spite, and all other negativity, causing them to dissapate and be destroyed by the light. Continue this feeding the fire and spreading its healing loving pink light until it overtakes your entire being. This will really help with facing and conquering fears, not to mention it feels really great, even if you don't have any problems which you need to face up to.
Also, though I didn't quite expect it to at first, I've come to find out that yoga actually encompasses meditation. I knew that it called for a state of relaxation and inner peace, and perhaps some slight meditation, but lately as I've been getting into yoga I've found that many yoga videos will often end with a bit of relaxation yoga which can often put one in a deep state of meditation and relaxation. My reiki teacher, who isn't really too much into astral projection, altered states of conciousness, and the like, ended up unintentionally had an OBE* when she was doing yoga.
(*=An OBE is an 'out of body experience;, more commonly referred to as 'astral projection')

Well, my usual weekly Reiki group is now beginning to get into meditation and channeling as well.
This week I came up with a quick done-on-the-spot meditation routine to help one who is just starting to channel, and I thought I would share it.
Breathe deeply. Feel each breath filling your chest, then slowly being released. Relax. With each breath feel your life-force energy flowing throughout your body. Be calm. Just think of how good it feels to be alive.
Now, with this sense of tranquility, relax and imigine a beam of pure white light pouring through your crown chakra, and revitalizing every cell of your body. Feel strong and refreshed. Now, imigine this light swirling to form an orb of light within your chest. This light is that of divine love, and feel its power within you. With this love comes peace and happieness.
Now, as you sense the divine energy within, relax further and attempt to become more in-tune with your enviroment. With your eyes closed, sense all that is around you. Sense warmth and coolness, hear whatever sounds are around you, wether it's the steady hum of a computer or cars passing by outside. Become aware of all that is around you, as you continue to keep your eyes closed.
Once you feel in-tune with your enviroment, ask whatever higher powers/energies you believe in to come and aide you in finding your spirit guide. Ask for only the highest and greatest good, and will such with all of your heart.
Relax. See if you can see any distinct pictures in your mind, or sense anyting. This could be information linked to your spirit guide. You will know in your heart when you've authentically linked with your guide.

I've found that I seem to meditate best either lying down, with my feet together and arms by my side or if I sit cross-legged with my hands on my lap.
It seems that most people meditate better if thier spine is straight.
After practicing meditation for a while it will become easier and you will be capable of doing it anytime, anywhere. 3nodding

DreamerSpirit I've found that I seem to meditate best either lying down, with my feet together and arms by my side or if I sit cross-legged with my hands on my lap. It seems that most people meditate better if thier spine is straight. After practicing meditation for a while it will become easier and you will be capable of doing it anytime, anywhere. 3nodding A friend of mine told me the same thing, although I'm not there yet, but then its about the concentration for me, but I feel it really does ring true.

After practicing meditation for a while it will become easier and you will be capable of doing it anytime, anywhere. 3nodding A friend of mine told me the same thing, although I'm not there yet, but then its about the concentration for me, but I feel it really does ring true.Yeah.... the only problem is that if you meditate too much you tend to be in a really mellowed out state most of the time. Not that thats a bad thing... it's just that I'm always really spaced out because of my meditation (and my insomnia...), so people are always mistaking me for a stoner. It's actually quite amusing! xd
