He crouched on the parapet of the rooftop, a slight breeze ruffling through his hair and blowing it back away from his face. Golden eyes swept the ground below for any sign of something that would disturb the fragile peace of the night, a peace that Wolfeite found rather grating on his nerves. The lack of things to do made him both irritable and restless, a small hiss of impatience escaping him.

"There is no one out tonight," he said, sounding rankled as he straightened, his tail flicking slowly behind him, ears flattened back against his dark head. "Not one of the Order brats, nor even any civilians that could be used to gather energy. The streets are empty."

Wolfeite turned, stepped up, and slid easily back onto the main part of the roof, his booted feet hitting the cement with a soft thumping sound. He did not cross it, however, but leaned against the low wall, arms folded across his chest, the mask resting loosely around his neck instead of pulled up over his face like it normally was when he hunted.

"What now?" he asked the man standing a short distance away; a tall, imposing figure in black, a gleam of pink shining through. He was half drenched in shadows from the taller wall that pushed up from the roof, but Wolfeite's youma eyes could make out every distinguishing feature of Labyrinthite regardless.

"Is there anyone coming to meet you tonight?"

He was staring out at the city as Wolfeite roamed and paced the area around them. Whiskey-gold swept across the city lines, the buildings that stretched into the sky and threatened to eclipse the stars that twinkled above them. It was darker where they were and the blinking lights in the sky shone a little brighter than normal.

The district the pair found themselves in was largely abandoned, which explained the lack of civilians and why any who sensed his aura might shy away. Combined, they shone like a dark beacon, threatening to swallow up anything that came in contact with them like a black hole. General Labyrinthite wondered if his companion would deter any of the Skaikru that wished to pursue him.

Probably.

It would explain the quietness of the night, disrupted only by the sounds of boots crunching over gravel and the half-youma's voice as he spoke. Labyrinthite did not respond, merely pushed off the wall he was leaning against and stepped towards the edge of the crumbling building. Now bathed in moonlight, he cast a formidable shadow when he reached up and pushed his hood back. The pink in his hair was a stark contrast to everything else about him and was too bright beneath the moon.

"Patience wolf," he said lowly, voice rough and scratchy. There was a hint of threat in his voice, one that Wolfeite would recognize from all of their sessions together. It said watch yourself and do not test me. "They will come." That he was certain of.

Those that acted upon vengeance, revenge didn't stop no matter what the obstacles. "When they do, we will make an example of them as I have before," he said, calmly.

Turning on his heel he crossed the expanse to stand a few yards from the captain. "I feel that a storm is on the horizon." What it meant for them, the negaverse, or the war against the white moon he didn't know. "Remember where your loyalties lie and that we, the pack, are stronger as a unit. You do not have to like the others but you must respect them in some capacity."

His lip curled in annoyance at patience, wolf, but Wolfeite made no move to counteract it or dispute it. He retreated away from the side of the building, feet crunching on gravel, and prowled around to the other edge, as though something would have changed in the past few moments.

But he knew better than to disobey Labyrinthite, and each move was careful and calm, in spite of Wolfeite's restlessness. His gaze flickered up to meet the general's, golden eyes meeting ones that were a slight shade darker than his own, and rimmed in white, not black.

Wolfeite's head tilted a little as he considered what he was being told. Arms folded across his chest, and he leaned back once more against the wall, ears alert and standing on his head now.

"What do you think is coming?" he asked, and resisted the urge to say something negative about the rest of the pack. He knew Labyrinthite had recruited them all for a reason; and, after all, he had to grudgingly admit that most of them knew what they were doing, otherwise they would not have been promoted so quickly.

"I will...keep that in mind," said Wolfeite, with a little nod of reluctant assent.

While his gaze was not directly on Wolfeite's form, it was clear that the general was watching him carefully. Their interactions had proved useful and the heavy hand Labyrinthite had to use when handling the wild wolf was providing results. For the first time in a long while, his wolf pup didn't bite back.

It seemed as though he preferred being rewarded instead of punished, which was fine by the general. He preferred to reward his subordinates rather than punish them.

He didn't answer right away, mulling over the question as he tucked his hands behind his back, studied the half-breed in front of him. "I do not know," he admitted, knowing it would be foolish to think that this was a chess game he saw the end to. "The culling of special operations has been...unique. I don't know what it means, or what the rise of these outsiders will mean for the structure of our faction."

But what he did know was that for a long while now, he'd existed outside of the branch system. None of his were assigned to any division except Wolfeite who had reassigned when he did. Their loyalty was predominately to him, to those he saw fit to pledge loyalty to.

Which at the time was Metallia, Laurelite, and Alkaid.

General-Queen Tanzanite was among those names if she returned and even General-King Howlite. At least Howlite had done he research when she called upon the members of her branch.

"It depends on how the dismissed react," he admitted, face crinkling in a mix of disgust and disappointed. "They will band together most likely, keep an eye on them but remember, you are loyal to none by me and mine." Be respectful, was implied but unspoken. He trusted Wolfeite to be smart enough to keep from pissing off the most vicious of the negaverse. "We are a unit and we stick together, no bond is thicker than the ones I have forged."

He waited in silence for Labyrinthite to speak, the only sounds that of their feet scuffing on the gravel beneath their boots, and the gentle breeze that ruffled cloaks and hair. Wolfeite tapped his gloved fingers against his crossed arms and gave a small, derisive snort.

" 'Unique' is certainly a way to put it," he muttered, glancing past Labyrinthite to the building next door, gaze sweeping across the vacant rooftop. "It's more like a comedy of errors has occurred, enough that it's almost laughable in terms of whether or not it can ever be fixed."

One of Wolfeite's ears flicked sideways, catching the sound of a bird fluttering past, but his attention remained solely on his general, a long, lean figure in black. He caught the disgusted expression on Labyrinthite's face and it made the corners of his lips quirk up slightly, amused.

"If they do band together," he said, "Do you think they will have any effect on the balance of power within the structure now? Not," he added, with a careless switch of his tail back and forth, "that there is much to be going off of lately, save for our pack."

Regardless of how he felt about the members of Labyrinthite's little group, Wolfeite knew them to at least be resourceful and strong, especially if they pooled their abilities, rather than kept them separate. It was a grudging connection, but one that was necessary for him to get to where he wanted to be.

Wolfeite gave a slow nod. "Duly noted."

Dark brows lifted when Wolfeite muttered and there was the slightest shake of a head. "Watch your tongue," he warned, bright amber eyes darkening as he spoke. It wasn't that he disagreed, because he didn't, but rather that he wanted his wolf to know that word choice was important.

Anyone could be listening at any time.

"Walls always have ears, even if there are none in sight." Cryptic yet still terribly easy to understand.

His cloak billowed behind him, an effect of the light breeze that passed through the buildings. Fingers twisted where they rested against his thighs and Labyrinthite wet his lips as he considered the best way to answer. "That depends," he said slowly. It was annoying, frustrating, that he did not have concise answers. He didn't know the other generals well enough to even pretend that he could properly get in their head and dissect their motives. In this game of chess he was more of a knight than the game changing queen.

"They are smart, the generals at the very least. They have been in service for a long time." As long as he had, most of them though some were greener but not by too much. "Their loyalty amongst each other is strong but - " He thought of Tanzanite, Hematite, and what had happened when he committed treason. "It depends on the will of our queen and her master."

Would they too be stripped if they appeared to be creating an uprising, intentional or not?

"Special operations must be rebuilt from the ground up, but I fear that...that woman has burned more bridges than she can salvage. Word carries fast and there is little we cannot do from general operations. Missions will be formulated and distributed, branch or no branch." They all had duties, even if theirs had shifted slightly.

"We must focus our attention elsewhere, to the white moon force that continues to grow in this cesspool of a city." Destiny City had always been a senshi, and now knight, stronghold. It's why they were so difficult to control, maintain, despite what outside views thought. He'd never seen so many vermin elsewhere. "But we must also be mindful of the...tension that grows within our own. We are a stronger force united than divided and you must keep that in mind." If the pack stayed together, remained strong together then he had little to worry about.

"Keep your senses sharp wolf and your comrades as well. Training sessions will double in frequency. I have some...tactics in mind."

He glanced back at Labyrinthite, gaze narrowed, but heeded the warning, even if he found it aggravating. It was necessary, Wolfeite knew, to keep the comments about the status of the Negaverse at bay if he was going to maintain his current position. Being careless - whether in actions or words - lead to mistakes, which lead to issues, and this was the last thing that either of them wanted.

Wolfeite's ears flattened back against his hair, gaze tracing Labyrinthite's half-shadowed face. The general looked a mixture of contemplative and frustrated, the lack of knowledge about their current situation clearly an annoyance. He listened silently, his tail still switching back and forth behind him, the sounds of the city below a dull, muted thing, like a radio with it's volume at the lowest level.

"So we turn our attentions instead to simply...doing what we were already doing," said Wolfeite, with a slow nod of his head, though his lip curled into a smirk that wasn't directed at Labyrinthite himself. "Getting rid of the stain that plagues this city. The members of Order are weak, especially when they think they know better."

He was annoyed at the idea of more training sessions, but knew enough of Labyrinthite by now - and his methods - to argue or disobey. Wolfeite inclined his head towards the man; an indication of acknowledgement and agreement of what he was proposing.

"Where you lead, I follow, General," he murmured, gloved hands tucked against the small of his back. They were alone up here; there was no need to pretend otherwise that he was anything but entirely - and sometimes angrily - connected to Labyrinthite and Labyrinthite alone. "I will stay alert, as you command."

"Dissent is a dangerous thing," Labyrinthite voiced, beginning to pace across the rooftop. While he did not think a civil war or a revolution was coming, he felt that the boat had been rocked enough that it could be something to be concerned about. "We must be wise about whom we ally with, whom we recruit and bring into our ranks." The general himself wanted a strong group of followers, who looked to him for leadership.

If he could impress upon them the beliefs and foundations he was deeply rooted in, then he would build and foster relationships with them as he'd already done with his wolves. Strength came in numbers but without loyalty, it would mean nothing.

Perhaps it was time to impress upon his war pup the need to keep an eye out for potential recruits. Or potential allies within their own. He did not care to bring any from the white moon over but -

If he could get the strong or the potentials to stand firmly by him, then if the storm broke over the horizon they would be prepared. Ready. Or as much as they could be.

"Watch for potential recruits," he added, as an afterthought. "It would serve us well to get to the useful ones before others, but we do not force their hand. They must choose." He had only forcibly recruited one officer and that was because he'd compromised his identity. He'd been given a choice, years ago, and he believed that new soldiers deserved the choice to enlist. "Senshi supporters should be monitored. As always, we eliminate. I do not support attempt to convert, it's a waste of time and traitors will be pursued relentlessly."

Anyone who got out, got disposed of.

He extended an arm out to his wolf, looking upon Archer expectantly. "As always," he nodded sharply. "Remember the lone wolf dies but the pack survives."

He knew this, of course, but it was still a trifle difficult to hear. Wolfeite thrived off of dissent and chaos, violence and mess. The thought of his hands around someone else's neck, or the taste of blood in his mouth made his hands twitch with a desire for more, though he tamped down on this. That was not the point, after all; it would do little good for there to be dissent among the Pack.

The branch, however. The branch was another story.

Let them burn, thought Wolfeite. Let them all burn and only those willing to climb through the fire will be at the top by the end of it all.

A thought he would not speak aloud, not anymore, not when everything within the Negaverse was so infernally fractured. Golden eyes flickered towards where Labyrinthite stood, and he was taken aback by the request, Wolfeite facing him with his hands still against his back. Recruitment wasn't something he cared much about so much as exterminating the filthy Order.

"...yes, sir," he said, after a moment. It grated on him to say it aloud, but alone with the general, it did not matter. "I will keep an eye on who could possibly be folded in."

Labyrinthite's extended arm was an offer not to be refused. Wolfeite stepped towards him, his tail flicking back and forth behind him, ears alert and straight on the top of his head. He tilted it to look at the general, raising a dark brow.

"I'm no longer lone," he said sardonically, a trace of a growl in his voice. "That would not benefit what I want."

Labyrinthite's lips slid into an easy smirk as Wolfeite assented. Every interaction with the half-youma served to show how far they had come and how he could make even the most volatile kneel before him. "It does not need to be a priority," he stated, glancing at the cityscape before them before looking back at his pet. "But a thing to keep in mind. Internal or external." Picking from those already on the side of chaos could be ideal, depending on who they were and what they had to offer.

Though Labyrinthite was unsure of who to trust outside of his own and Alkaid's.

The captain came closer, as silently ordered, and Labyrinthite reached for his jaw. At first, the touch appeared gentle, tender in nature but then his thumb was pressing against the jawbone with bruising force. "And what is it that you want pup?"

It was easy to remember what he had been like before this. Before the Negaverse, before his untimely youmafication, before Labyrinthite. Wolfeite had always believed himself to be superior in many ways, even as Archer Wren - but this - this was on an entirely new level. He was so much more now, even if it was a road that had not been intended to take.

The wolf inside of him roared its approval, thrumming through his veins.

Internal and external. Perhaps there would be more use to find those inside the Negaverse already, use them and mold them to however it was in their best interests. There were still those within the branches who could become of use to himself and Labyrinthite in more than one way.

The general's grip was hard, thumb digging in. Wolfeite stood rigid with tension before him, refusing to yield to the throbbing that had begun in his jawline, his gold eyes flickering across Labyrinthite's face. A low hiss escaped from between his teeth.

The truth, of course, was also easy.

"Power," Wolfeite breathed, the word like a prayer on his tongue, ears flattening back against his dark hair. It was a greed, a hunger in his stomach, coiling hotly through his chest, chasing its way through his veins until it had seized his entire body. "Everything."

For Labyrinthite, remembering life before the Negaverse was difficult. It wasn't that the memories weren't there to be called upon but chaos was so engrained in his bones, in the very fiber of his being, that thinking of life before it was almost unimaginable.

Somedays, he mused that he had Iris to thank for that even if it was Laurelite who'd imbued him with power in the beginning.

Looking at Wolfeite, with his hunger and his determination and even the loyalty he'd sworn to Labyrinthite and Labyrinthite alone reminded him of what he was building. Of what he could build if he wanted.

Now that was a thrilling thought and something akin to pleasure curled in his belly as he stepped forward, feet spreading as he used his grip to tilt the wolf's head up. They were the same height, or close to, and yet - Labyrinthite knew how to position himself as though he were bigger, more.

"And how will you achieve that?" He asked, voice rough and scratchy as it was prone to being. "Everything is rather ambitious, don't you think?"

He felt the pressure of Labyrinthite's hand as his head was tilted up, every part of him automatically wanting to resist the moment. Wolfeite stood tense and drawn, as though his body was a strap pulled tight, almost at the breaking point, wound up and violently fierce. His arms, which had been resting with his hands behind his back, now hung at his sides, his clawed fingers curling and uncurling.

The greed and hunger for more was still there, prominent in every move he made. Wolfeite had never been subtle in what he wanted - except in one case - and he could practically taste the heat of his yearning on his tongue. Violence and power and strength, all of it, until he was standing above them all, crushing them beneath his feet, torn at the mercy of his claws.

All except Labyrinthite, that was. And perhaps all except the pack as well, if they continued along the path they were.

Labyrinthite's voice was low, rough, almost a croon in his tone. Wolfeite felt a tremor ran through him.

"By you, of course," he said, a low growl. "You will make me better. You will make me more."

Reading the captain was easy, though Labyrinthite attributed it to the extended period of time that they spent together. He was the most wild of his recruits and that meant he needed to spend more time with Labyrinthite than the rest.

Labyrinthite was amused by Wolfeite's subtle reactions to his grip, the movements he forced.

Wolfeite was restraining himself, submitting as promised and while it was subtle, Labyrinthite was visibly pleased. His hand shifted, fingers moving to press against the nape of his wolf's neck, pushing down against the teeth mark tattoos.

"I will break you, then I will build you into something better," he agreed. Labyrinthite's thumb grazed Wolfeite's Adam's apple. "I think our time spent here is done, let's not waste the rest of the night."

A low hiss escaped through clenched teeth as Labyrinthite's fingers traveled down his neck, pressing against the tattoo. It felt like a burn even through fabric of gloves and uniforms, a pressing reminder of what lay between them.

He was the dog, and Labyrinthite the trainer, the owner.

Breath left his throat, caught in his mouth at the indentation of the general's thumb. For a moment, Wolfeite wondered what it would be like to reach out and snap those fingers from his hand, hear the bones cracking and shattering under his grasp, taste the blood on his tongue.

But the moment passed, because he could not do that anymore. Not if he wanted what he wanted, and Wolfeite was not a compromising man.

If he was even a man anymore. Instead, he inclined what he could of his head, still rigidly maintaining his stiff posture, refusing to yield or to bend or break unless it was ordered of him. Golden eyes flashed in the dark, the only bright thing in the shadows other than the blazing pink of Labyrinthite's hair and uniform.

"Yes, general," was all Wolfeite said.
