Hadrian was hanging out in the courtyard at the Academy, his usual haunt when he had free time. He enjoyed being outside even though he usually plugged his headphones in his ears and listened to music up high while he did his homework. Today was no different, he slid the buds into his ears and grooved his way over to an empty table he could spread his books out on. Rock music thumped in time with his heart beat as he read about the history of Below. It was boring reading but if he read the words to the beat of his music it was easier to remember.

Kismet sighed as she walked, tossing the baseball up in the air, and catching it as it fell back down. Well whadda know. Gravity works really well. She had homework to do, but her dad also wanted her to practice pitching for baseball try outs! Though she hated to admit it, even to herself, she was becoming surprisingly fond of baseball. Dad went bonkers for it and it was beginning to rub off on her some. The thought put a smirk on her face as she came to a stop out front of the school. Usually she would practice in the fields, but she was feeling a bit on the lazy side today, so the school's courtyard would do for now.
Letting the ball fall to the ground for a moment, she fussed with her mess of hair and painstakingly managed to finally pin her bangs back after what seemed like forever. "Finally!" She hated the maintenance some days, but she loved that long hair of hers! Grabbing the ball back up, she scuffed her feet in the grass like she would on the pitcher's mound, preparing her wind-up. And wouldn't you know it, just as she was beginning to throw the ball, her hair came right down in her face! "AUGH!" she let out. Of course, as she fussed with her bangs, it took a moment for her to realize something.... The ball was no longer in her hold! CRAP! Eyes darting every which way, Kismet searched for where it may have ended up...

Hadrian yawned as he reached the end of his current chapter. Just a couple more pages to read and then he'd be done with the reading. He was so bored with this, even the music wasn't helping anymore. Just when he was about to give up and go take a nap, something slammed into the back of his skull. "OW!!" he cried out and winced, rubbing his head as he pulled his headphones out to look around for the culprit.
"Who threw that?" he asked loudly. "Your aim sucks," he muttered, checking his hand. There wasn't any blood but his head still hurt. The only one close enough was another freshling, a Grimm by the look of her. And no wonder her aim was crap; her bangs covered her eyes. How in the world did she see anything like that? "Ever thought about a haircut?" he asked as he came closer, holding out her ball.

A sickening feeling in the pit of her stomach came about as her ears picked up on the sound of someone in pain. Crap. Slowly her head turned, working on moving to the direction that it came from. Soon they settled on another freshling. They did not seem happy. And of course, this was confirmed by the rude remarks that they hurled her way. Even though they couldn't really see it, her eyes narrowed at them from behind the fall of hair in her face.
"Wow... Could you be more rude, dude?" Kismet came back with as she made her way over, grabbing up the ball. "Like you can talk, Shaggy." The Grimm huffed as she crossed her arms, tail trashing behind herself. Of course, she was a bit annoyed by the fact that she couldn't properly glare at them from behind her hair. Oh well! Whateverrrrr!

Rude? He was rude? What? "I'm rude?" he said, incredulously. "You're the one who hit me in the head with a baseball," he grumbled and thrust the ball into her hand. He was careful not to slice her with his claws. "Ha. Shaggy. How original," he teased. "At least I've got one eye open. Both of yours are covered." He stuck his tongue out at her and crossed his arms over his chest. So mature. Whatever. "What are you doing with that, anyway? Gonna try out for a team or something?" He couldn't help it. He really liked sports, and there weren't a lot of other freshlings he knew that did. So finding one was pretty hard to ignore. Besides, he was curious.

"Yeah! You are very rude! Sheesh! It's not like my sole purpose in throwing the ball was knocking you in your stupid head!" Kismet could not believe the audacity of this kid! It's not like she meant to hurt him! It was purely accidental! Sure her hair fell in her face, but still! At this point she was beginning to feel like he deserved what he got and was now kind of considering the happening a happy accident. Huff.
And to add to her frustrations, the kid started to try and talk friendly with her! The nerve of this kid! "Yes! For your information, I am trying out for the team. My dad plays and he started to teach me about it... and... well... it turned out to be pretty cool." Ugh! She wanted to stay mad at this other stupid kid, but somehow, just talking about baseball with him a little bit was making her not feel so irritated. Well, she still was, but not as much. It didn't change the fact that he was a jerk!

He rolled his eyes a little at her insistence that he was rude. He definitely wasn't. It was all her. Anyway. "Your dad, huh? My dad plays guitar," he said with a grin. Music was infinitely cooler than sports. "He's teaching me how to play." So what if he looked a little smug? He was pretty proud of his progress so far.
He glanced down at her sweater and snorted a little. It had a skull on it, like his. "I like your shirt," he said, a little huffy cuz he was a boy. And she was a girl. And girls had cooties and all that jazz.

This kid was really getting on Kismet's last nerve! Whatever. It's not like he was anyone she'd have to deal with. Tch. He was someone else's problem! Apparently his dad's. 'poor guy' she thought to herself with a snort. "He must be a saint." she remarked with a smirk. "But he's doing a pretty good job, I guess..." she hated to admit.
A brow quirked behind the curtain of bangs as the other kid looked at her shirt. What's that? He was actually giving her a compliment? That seemed shocking in the few minutes she'd known the kid. "Yours is pretty cool, too. I like the hearts on it." she finished with an amused and somewhat teasing tone. Normally she wasn't so rude, but something about this kid just rubbed her the wrong way and seemed to bring it out in her!

He snorted and rolled his eyes. He was pretty sure this chick was trying to imply that he was a troublemaker and that his dad must have the patience of a saint or something like that. Yeah well. She didn't need to know she was right. Hadrian smirked a little when she grudgingly admitted his dad was doing a good job. "I'll let him know you said so," he said with a snicker.
He caught the teasing in her tone and thought he'd turn it around on it. "Aren't they awesome?" he said and traced one of the heart shaped orbital sockets on his hoodie. "I love this hoodie, wear it every day. Well, Except on laundry day." Those were the days when he felt naked and off beat. His hoodie was his trademark!!

Ugh! Kismet was a pretty mellow chick, but this guy was just really wearing her thin right now! Especially with that cocky smirk on his face that she was feeling pretty ready to slap off his face. And this time, the hit would be completely intentional! HUFF! "You go ahead and do that. He prolly needs to hear all the praise he can to keep him going." she said with a roll of her eyes.
And drat! The kid just rolled with the punch on this one. Then again, she should have figured that it wouldn't bug him if he was wearing the dang thing! "Uhhuh... yeah... great for you. Though laundry day doesn't seem to come often enough."
So over all this right now, she spied and grabbed up her baseball. "As fun as this all was, I have to get back to practice." and that was the last thing she bothered saying to the jerky kid! She had more important things to get back to now! Try-outs were soon after all!

Hadrian bristled a little at the intimation that he was too much for his dad, his tail twitching in agitation. "Whatever," he said and crossed his arms over his chest. His dad was awesome.
He didn't particularly like the dig that he didn't wash his clothes often enough either. Despite all that, he tried not to let her see how it had affected him. "Sure, sure. Try not to hit anyone else in the head while you're at it," he tossed back at her before heading back to his table to finish his homework. This time though he slid around so he'd be able to see any incoming missiles in the form of baseballs.
