As he walked along, he glanced around trying to find some sign of life that wasn't a cactus or, dead grass or sand. With a heavy sigh he realized he had likely made a very bad mistake when it had come to walking this way after leaving the golden stallion. Frowning he grumbled to himself and let out huff of air and stopped. He looked behind him and didn't see anything vaguely familiar and realized he was looking too close. Changing his gaze he started to look for stuff in the distance and spotted a mountain range towards the west and decided he'd head that way.

After what seemed like hours he was truthfully wishing he hadn't gone this way. He was hot, miserable and wished it would rain. Glancing towards the sky he spotted a few clouds and prayed fervently for them to move in front of the sun and block the rays from beating down upon his dark pelt.

Finally cooled down enough to explore he ventured forth from the shade of the tree and took a peek around. There were some edible plants nearby which was great and he heard water and made his way towards it. Seeing the small pool he flicked his tail happily behind him and dipped his muzzle to it's cool surface and drank down a few gulps almost greedily. Taking a moment to wait so he didn't drink the water to fast he looked around once more.

This wasn't a bad little spot and he was surprised there weren't many others here either. It was like his own little paradise. The thought thrilled him, to know that he and he alone was here. It was as if he could claim it as his own. Though he wasn't about to do that. He doubted he'd ever come here again, not if he could help it anyway.

Turning his attention towards the water he remembered that there were those that actually lived beneath it's glimmering surface. He wondered what that was like, living in the depths of the ocean or other water sources. Though he felt that could be a bit restraining, not being able to go anywhere but where the water could take you. Though, that was kind of how it was for him on land. But he could travel through water if need be. They could not. Right? The whole thing puzzled him for a moment but he shook his head. What did it matter to him? He really shouldn't bother himself about such things but here he was, thinking about it. Still, he thought it must be something to be able to see so much beneath the waters surface. There must be so much down there that none of them up here knew about. It almost made him feel a ping of jealousy for the water folks.
