The Long Way Home 1.2

Alma was alive, her mother had learned while she was pregnant with her. Alive and thinking that Umeko was dead. Umeko, her mother, had sent word through the Cabal to her. She watched her mother, who had never once looked anxious or scared in her life become quiet and introspective. Her mother's eyes watched the horizon every night for when Alma would come because she had told Sebastian that Alma always came. Alma who had been her greatest champion, the one who's lead she had followed. If Alma was half the mare her mother spoke of, she'd be a sight to behold.
Sebastian began to watch the horizon too, her eyes searching for coppery red hair and tan skin of her aunt. They didn't look much alike, her mother had warned her but the hooves--they hooves were the same.
