 Books gathered under arm, Tullio shifted himself some to try and get a better grasp on them and keep them from slipping as he climbed the steps. The steps he was climbing? Well they lead up to the school's rooftop. It was a quiet little nook that he liked to go when there was homework to do between classes. Home surely was too noisy to sit down and focus on it with his five siblings running about. Not to mention the fact that momma could be the noisiest of them all.
Pushing the door open after he reached the top of the stairwell, the little guy took in a deep breath and sighed it out happily. The day was beautiful and the sounds of those bustling about outside the school barely reached him up here. What more could he ask for? Though, as Tullio was settling into his normal little spot, he couldn't help noticing someone else on the rooftop. How curious. Normally he would be up here by himself at this time of day. Setting the small stack of books down, the little guy tilted his head and watched the other. What were they doing so close to the edge of the roof? Curious, Tullio started toward them. "Hello?"

 The rooftop was off-limits to freshlings not with a caretaker, especially while the fence was being replaced, but Iris hadn't gotten the memo. She had tried, so hard, to learn how to fly. She was a fallen, and while she had been told that fallen's weren't the strongest fliers, they were still supposed to fly! Yet, here she was, completely useless in that department. Her wings weren't broken. She was. She couldn't figure out how to use them properly.
Recently, Iris had learned some birds shoved their babies out of nests to teach them to fly. While teachers had put her on diving boards and used magic to catch her when she failed, that wasn't enough. She needed something high. Something that gave her enough fear and time to figure out how to properly use her wings. The roof seemed perfect, despite the many problems this surfaced. Iris wasn't paying attention to that, honestly. She was focused on one thing;
Flying.
So here she was, staring at the ground with a nervous sigh before spreading her wings, hands fiddling together nervously. Alright. She could do this. She had to! She wanted to match her siblings, and this was the only way to do i-
'Hello?'
Iris jumped in alarm, her foot moving slightly over the edge. A squeak followed as her arms flailed, wings straightening to realign her balance and cause her to fall backwards onto safe ground, head tilting back to see an upside down child. Wait, no, she was upside down. Sitting up, Iris let out a relieved sigh. Oh man, what would have happened if she fell unprepared?!
"H-hello." Oh, now what? It wasn't like she was used to others approaching her, especially when she was busy focusing on flying."Am I in the way? Are you... should I go?"

It was a curious thing to see what this other freshling was up to. Almost nerve-wrecking with them being right on the edge! He didn't intend to startle the poor thing, but when he did so and they were flailing about, Tullio had reached out to grab them and pull them back to safety! But... they had been just out of reach. Thank the gods the fallen child had managed to fall backwards instead of forward and off the edge! PHEW!
Tullio leaned, looking down at the other freshling, concern and worry plastered all over his face. "You know that's dangerous, right?" he said as a soft smile began to take place on his face. He was forever the mother hen. Having as many younger siblings as he did, it was easy for the poor guy to panic about them.... let alone others as well. Giving a bit of a chuckle at the situation, their response, and really the awkward way they were looking at each other, Tullio took a couple sidesteps, offering his clawed paw to them. "No. Not at all. I just didn't realize anyone else likes to come up here, too" He kept smiling as he held out his paw. "I'm Tullio. What's your name?"

Iris blinked back at the other child, eyes trailing towards the sky and then towards the edge of the roof. It was dangerous. Oh. Oh Nine what had she been thinking?! Sitting completely up, Iris held her face in horror, pulling on her face as she positioned herself to be facing him, still on the floor.
"I-I wasn't thinking!" She gasped, eyes flicking to his hand before gently placing her petite hand into his.
"Thank you. I'm so sorry, oh gosh...." She trailed off, flushing slightly as she realized just how awkward this was. "My name is Iris."

The way the poor fallen child came to grips with what had just almost happened gave him cause for concern all over again! Were they going to start panicking and have a break down? Or... maybe... they would try again?! Oh gods he hoped not.
The answer she gave to him made him chuckle a little bit. The poor thing. Tullio gently closed his clawed paw about her tiny little hand, and began to pull her to her feet. "Don't worry about it, kay? I have... like... a billion siblings. I'm used to the look-out game in the grand scheme of life."
Once again he smiled as a name was offered to him in return. "'Iris'? I like that. It means rainbow, right?" He beamed to her, slowly pulling her back from the edge of the rooftop after she stood... just to be on the safe side of things. Still concerned for what she had been doing in the first place, Tullio's head canted to the side some and he asked in a round about way as to try and not embarrass her further. "Were you trying to prepare a daredevil act for a circus or something?"

Iris was grateful as he helped her up, giving a grateful smile as she used her wings to restore her balance, tucking them back against her spin when she was finally upright.
"A billion?" For a second, she actually believed the other child before she realized it was an exaggeration. Of course he didn't have literally a billion siblings! Where would they all sleep? What would they eat? Their parent(s) would be so exhausted! Smiling at her own comment, Iris nervously held the inside of her right arm, tapping the ground with her shoe. However, that nervous nature vanished when he mentioned the meaning of her name, eyes lighting up. How'd he know that? That was.... that was so cool!
"Yes!" She squeaked in excitement, flushing at the sound. Then, the question she dreaded was hinted at. Nervously, grey eyes flicked to the edge of the roof, fingers tapping together. "I.... well, I heard the fence was going to be replaced so... I thought... I learned birds sometimes nudge their babies out of the nest to fly.... I was trying to... um...." She trailed off, her wings twitching slightly as she looked away. She couldn't fly, and now this boy would find out her shame.

Tullio's eyes grew wide with surprise when Iris took him quite literally at first. He felt terrible for it, but a huge grin grew on his face and he began to chuckle. All his younger siblings constantly said and did things like that, so it amused him greatly. "Well... not a billion exactly, but some days it feels like it!" he said in a funny sort of tone.
As Iris seemed to hide herself from him, Tullio's grin faded. Had he done or said something to embarrass her all the more? He sure hoped he hadn't. For all the siblings that he dealt with on a normal basis -- not to mention the family growing past his mother's own children -- he had very little interaction with others. There just wasn't enough time between homework and looking out for his siblings. It was almost heartmelting to see the look on her face when he knew the meaning of her name. Oh good! That meant he was just being a paranoid worry wart... not that it was a good thing, but it was a relief anyways. It helped all the more when she squeaked out a reply, causing him the bite his lip to hold in a giggle.
Though, as she began to answer his second question, a frown flickered at the corners of his mouth. "So... that means you can't fly?" Wow... that was blunt and straight to the point... in the worst way. He felt horrible for it. A sinking feeling took place in the pit of his stomach. "I'm... I'm sorry for being so blunt. I fear it's a bit of a family trait." Wincing, he swayed back and forth on his feet. "Forgive me?"

Iris' eyes widened at the blunt statement, leaning back slightly. For a second, hurt flickered across her face, smothered by a forced smile as she shook her heard.
"It's fine. It's the truth, after all." Iris admitted, wings pulling against her back as she redirected her gaze to the ground. "I'm useless at being a Fallen. I can't fly. My siblings can. Not me." Her tone was soft, bordering on exhausted. Just telling someone felt like she was admitting her failures, resigning herself to them. She'd never be able to fly, would she? This was her life now, forever.

Shame. Shame is what he felt right now. He made the poor thing feel bad about herself! That wasn't his goal at all, but just blurting words out without thinking first. This was something he'd have to learn from...
"It's not really okay... You got hurt cause I'm a blabber mouth. Not the best way to make a first impression. Especially with a cute girl like you." Bluntness was apparently going to be his enemy. Lord. And as Iris looked to the ground like she'd been defeated by life already, Tullio sat down beside her, reaching out to touch her shoulder gently with his paw. "Hey... It's okay. Maybe you're just a late bloomer~ There's nothing wrong with that." Giving a light pat pat to her shoulder.
He thought for a moment or two, mauling over some thoughts in his head. Yes. Yes! This would certainly be a grand idea! "So, like, I know that I have kinda made a fool of myself and all, but I have a thought. You wanna meet me at my house in a little while?" He grinned quite the grin. His idea was perfect! A no-fail sort of thing! All he could do now was hope she'd agree to meet up with him! He had a fun idea that might hopefully make up, at least partly, for his verbal blunders!

Iris blinked back at Tullio, cheeks heating up at the cute comment. Oh. Oh that was new. Her? Cute? No way! Not like her siblings, who were adorable. She was a plain Jane! Her wings fluffed slightly as she kicked the ground, glancing up once at the comment of being a late bloomer before shyly returning to kicking a pebble. It was the last comment that surprised her, head raising as she took in the question.
His house?
That meant they were friends, right? Or going to be? Why would anyone invite a random girl like them to their house? She didn't have friends, really. She was too focused on her flight problem, and too anxious. But, she didn't mind, honestly. She really didn't.
"Um... I need to tell a caretaker where I'm going... and they need to escort me... so I can come by, if I.... have a little time? Is that okay?" She knew just the caretaker she wanted, it was just a matter of tracking the hybrid down.

The wheels in Tullio's head were spinning at a million miles a minute now... so much so that he didn't notice that he managed to make the shy little fallen a bit surprised by his remark, then even more so by his question.
The reply that she gave was good enough for him! He needed a little time to get things ready, too! This plan was going to be awesome! But all awesome plans needed a little prep time. Giving a nod, Tullio bounced up onto his feet once again. "No problem!" Without thinking about it, he reached down, taking her hand and turning it palm up in his. He then pulled out a pen from his pocket and scrawled out his house number on her hand. "Call when you're on your way, kay?~" Still beaming from ear to ear, the hybrid raced over, grabbed up his stuff, and was through the door before she could really say anything! Needless to say he was excited and couldn't wait to get started on this idea!Yushika if you wanna do one more post or leave it as is, we can call this one done~ i can start a new rp for his idea later, or you can start it! either one XD <3

Iris allowed him to take her hand, curiously peering at it as he scribbled onto her palm. When he released it she raised her hand, inspecting it closely before looking up just in time to see him head out.
"O-okay." She whispered, glancing back down at her hand. A friend? For her? Why did he take such an interest in her, anyway? What was so special about a flightless fallen? Her cheeks heated, hand closing into a gentle fist as her other one touched the edge of her fist. It didn't matter, honestly, why he choose her. He just did, and she was about to go and make a real friend.
Gathering herself up, Iris padded to the door, beginning her investigation for a certain caretaker. itsie bitsie spider I'd love if you started it! We can have it that she called and he gave the address, and is about to appear at the door!
