The red female got to the outskirts of Ithambo'hlabathi lands and what was considered Rogue lands now. She had just needed to clear her head that and she had wanted to hunt. Maybe she'd find more luck out here than within the pride's lands since she had been gone for a bit now. She had stopped at the watering hole to grab a drink before she continued further away from everything. The heat was enough for her to decide that the little shade of the tree she saw. She settled for a moment glad for the respite from the sun.
That's when she saw the herd of gazelle. They were just grazing and giving her a perfect opportunity to slink in to check them out. Slowly she moved towards them, making sure to stay downwind of them so she didn't frighten them. Carefully she watched them until she spotted what she believed to be a weak gazelle. Perfect.
Charging at the prey she gave a roar to startle them. As they scattered she looked for the one she thought was the weak one. Not quite so weak but maybe she'd get it. Or one of the young. Here was hoping as she raced after them.

The lioness wasn't the only red feline out on the hunt. Tawa had been watching the very same herd but from a greater distance. He had seen them emerge from the edge of the Bonelands territory and he knew better than to get too close. He didn't want to infringe on the lands just yet - he had healed from his bout with one of the Inselelo and was biding his time to challenge the grey male that had routed out the one that had beaten him. Patience was a virtue and he was using his time to hone his skills. Tawa had crouched down in the long grass as the herd moved slowly towards him, but he lifted his head in surprise as they suddenly started stampeding in his direction. Unsure of what had set them off, he got up from his position and trotted away, out of the charging beasts. He'd wait for them to settle down before trying again. That was when a roar caught his ears and a flash of burnt red fur caught his eyes. A lioness. He frowned slightly and moved to stand beside a cluster of rocks, watching from a distance. She was certainly from the Bonelands and he didn't wish to frighten her, so it would be best to let her try to get her prey before making his presence known. It would be worse if he tried to slink away and she spotted him - letting her know he was there but wasn't a threat was the only course of action.

She hadn't noticed him yet, more focused on trying to get her kill so she could eat more than anything else and not even noticing she was going further away from her home yet closer towards the red pelted male. As she charged after it she saw it falter for a half second as it started to go towards the male's direction and then realize that was a mistake and she ended up slamming into it. Claws and fur abound as she tousled with the gazelle until her teeth found purchase in its neck. A good kill, a good hunt. She was sure it was going to get away from her but that miscalculation on its part allowed her that moment to bridge the gap between them.
Then she noticed an unfamiliar scent. Lion for sure but who? Now that she looked up from her kill she could see how far she had gotten from home and started to get worried. Monifa was out here alone and unprotected. Even if Firekin were allies they might not help her, and then on top of that there could be roamers who might hurt her. She'd defend herself of course as best she could if she had to but she hoped she wouldn't have to fight.
"Whose there!?" She roared out, trying to puff herself up to look bigger than she was. Maybe her fiery pelt would scare off others.

Tawa held his ground, hopeful that the rocks would keep the preybeasts away from him. The one that the lioness was chasing did veer towards him, probably thinking the rocks might be a way to escape her pursuit, but the wide-eyed creature spotted him and thought better of it. He watched the female tackle - rather ungracefully, but effectively - the gazelle, bringing it to the ground. It only took a few moments for the struggle to cease, and that was when his presence was noticed. She was on the defensive already, he realized with a grimace. Tawa wasn't an aggressive male unless it was called for, such as fighting his way into a pride or protecting those he held dear. He was large, yes, but had managed to get through life without stepping on too many toes. "Here," he called out from his spot by the piled rocks, moving around them so she could see him. He stopped once he was in plain view, a small smile on his muzzle. They were out of the Bonelands for certain, but he knew better than to assume she was alone. Just in case there were any other females around it was best to not approach just yet. "Don't worry, I'm not here to steal your food or hurt you," he said, hoping to calm her down. "Simply in the wrong place at the wrong time."

She was wary of this male, his pelt was similar to that of the Firekin allies. "Good. Cuz I really didn't want to fight." She slumped a little, relaxing her pose. "No one is ever in the wrong place at the wrong time." She said matter of factly. "Always a reason. I think. Come on, I'll share my kill with you if you're hungry." She looked at the male, "Are you one of the Firekin? Your pelt..." the red pelted female made a motion to the other. He looked large enough to be one of them for sure. Although why he was closer to her pride's lands and not closer to the Firekin lands he wasn't sure. "Curious as to what you're actually doing out here..."

"No, no fighting here," Tawa promised. Well, eventually there would be fighting, at least he hoped so, but not with her. He had a bone to pick with Emrys once the male showed his mug around here again. He nodded at her question even though he technically wasn't with the pride any longer. He certainly was of Firekin blood, though, born and raised there. He had followed his friend and the love of his life to the Bonelands only to find he couldn't win entrance as easily as he had thought. So here he was, banished to the rogue lands until he could prove himself. "Oh...just passing through," he said with a weak smile. He didn't want anyone to know his true intentions of hanging out here and thankfully no one had seen him twice. He didn't want them to think he was laying in wait. "But yes, I do hail from the Firekin. I left for greener pastures, though. It's a bit hot and sandy there for my liking when there's all this out here." He motioned with his head to the grasslands. Truly, he'd rather be alone out here than with hundreds of eager to fight lions in a desert.

This was once Firekin male made the red pelted female scrunch her eyes at him. An interesting Firekin male for sure. Still she was cautious as she looked from her kill to him, "Well if you're passing through I'm sure you're hungry. So come 'ere and eat up big boy." She chuckled. The female wouldn't turn her back on him in case he got any funny ideas but she mostly believed what he was saying.
"Sand isn't too bad. I wouldn't say these are greener pastures out here though." It was better than sand but it was not quite as green as it could be. But yeah there was some green in the grasslands, speckled but still some green.
She gave a small bow to him, "Monifa of the Ithambo'hlabathi."

He was hungry, but he didn't want to take her hard-earned kill. She had offered once already and he had let it slide by, but with her insisting he finally stepped forward. "Tawa'shilah," he returned with a little smile. "Ah...formerly of the Firekin. Now...of the rogue lands, I suppose." He stopped a few paces from the kill and nodded for her to start. "You did all the work, it's only fair you get your choice of meat." He glanced around, agreeing that it wasn't terribly green here. It was more shades of brown and yellow. Still, better than the desert. "It's pretty bad when it's all that there is," he said as he sat down. "Blowing in your eyes and nose, burning your feet when you walk, and then at night it's so cold...it's a very strange place, the desert."

"Tawa'shilah." She let the name roll off her tongue to get a feel for it. "Tawa'shilah of the rogue lands." This time with a chuckle. "Thank you." Monifa tore right into her kill, getting a large portion into her mouth as she gave him a small side glance before tearing into another piece of soft flesh. A respectable male, very good.
"I would say that is not a fun feeling." Her red pelt darkening from the blood that came off the kill. "Glad that I don't have to deal with that very much. Its still rather cold out here and warm, but the sand in the eyes and nose. I wouldn't trade what I have for that."
Another chunk out of the dead beast she licked her maw, happy as being able to share the kill. At least it'd not go to waste, she wasn't sure she could quite drag the kill all the way back to the den. Now she felt a bit bad about it.

"Mm. I'm glad I don't have to deal with it either," Tawa hummed as Monifa dug into the kill. He waited for her to take a few bites before joining in, keeping to the other end so they didn't butt heads. He ate in quiet delight and soon not much was left of the small gazelle, just enough for the scavengers to get a good meal out of was well. He cleaned himself up a bit before rising to his paws once more. "Thanks for sharing. I don't think I've had gazelle before," he admitted. "I should press on before it gets much hotter out, though. I've been told the males in this pride don't take kindly to other males hanging around for too long."

She was happy to share the kill with another at least friendly lion. If he had not been so friendly she would have fought to protect what was her, eaten her fill and then let him take the scraps but as it were... well he was alright in her books. After also cleaning herself up from the kill -- licking her maw as clean as she could get it before using her paws to get the rest -- she beamed at the other. Glad to have met the male. He was memorable to say the least.
"Well Tawa, hope that I can call you that. I'm glad I could at least let you try something new. And no they don't really approve. Not unless you do a few things." If he wanted to try his paw at it, let him but she didn't know one way or another. "Take care. I should be getting back anyway."
This time she turned her back on him, sure that he was not going to attack her and no longer as cautious of the male as she once was. Whatever endeavors he had in his future the female hoped that they ended up happening.
"Don't get into trouble!" She called back as she started her path back home.

"Thanks for sharing," Tawa said with a little bob of his head. Perhaps if he ever did win his way into the Bonelands she'd vouch for him that he wasn't coming in to take over. He had a lot to learn about the pride still, but from what he understood the females really ran the show. Having a friend on the inside could prove useful some day. He nodded as she turned to go and did the same. He'd head out for a day or so and relocate so he could wait for Emrys to slip up and make a mistake. He'd become an Inselelo soon, he was sure of it.
