Why was he out tonight? Oh yeah...a clinic trip and dinner. He’d just gotten his food, something to help boost his energy levels a bit more as they were still low and all he wanted to do was sleep. It was making school work nearly impossible to get done, he was only managing it due to sheer force of will and need to get it done, and he was forcing his way through work and martial arts lessons - so much forcing himself to finish and do things. It was a lot and he was glad for the bb cream he used as it covered the darkness around his eyes, though he was using products to help with that.
Making his way into the park, food bag in hand, he was planning on eating out in the small tucked away little area he’d found. The smell of good food filled the air around him and had him picking up his pace so he could get there a bit faster and eat, he needed it.
Looking around, making sure no one was around to see him, he ducked between some trees and bushes and moved around the dense growth before it broke to a small opening where a stone table and bench seating sat. This was where he came at times to do his homework, to think...or to eat, which was a new thing.
Reaching the seat he sat down and put the food bag down onto the table top and started to unpack the banchan and the main meal itself. He had a drink also, bottled, that he pulled out and set down. Shifting to get comfortable he winced as it upset the stitches he had...he still couldn’t believe he’d gotten caught...the one time he went out powered up alone and he got caught. As his thoughts lingered on it, as his own injures reminded him of their presence, he felt one hand forming into a fist at his side as nails bit into the palm of his hand.
A deep breath was taken as he relaxed and settled in and prepared to eat - he needed it.

He had only left the house to get medical supplies, a prescription for antibiotics, and some treats for the house. Stops there were close to each other because, as much as he would love to go to other places, he couldn’t really move much. It was careful planning around the bus stop to get what he needed and then waiting for the last bus out of town. The food cart allowed him to get 2 soft tacos, and he bought 5 more for Wyatt, hoping they would reheat well.
Walking slowly and carefully, he did notice one person he hadn’t expected. One person who shouldn’t be walking around so carefree.
Stuffing his to-go tacos in his backpack, he slowly walked over and pressed a firm hand on the man’s shoulders. “Hi there.” He said, his voice cold and somber.

He hadn’t really been expecting someone to approach him, especially as he was getting ready to eat in what he thought was a private little place - his private little place. Had it been another person, a stranger, he’d have told them to go away. Instead though his gaze turned to them and he stared for a moment. “Torin-hyung.” The other was older than he was and had his respect, he’d been a knight longer and had experience...had saved him.
“Should sit down…” He said motioning for the other to sit, he couldn’t be doing so well so soon after the attack from the General. “Am having dinner.” A bit late but he’d been busy managing his way through homework that seemed never ending. Biting his bottom lip he let his dark eyes look the other over, looking for any visible signs of the other suffering still from the fight. “Are you...ok?”

He moved slowly around and sat down, looking at him. “No. I’m not fine. I got the s**t beat out of me.” He pointed to one side of his face where a greenish discoloration had formed and was only slightly swollen now. It had been much worse the night he was attacked. “THIS is rather hard to hide from Wyatt who is already pissed at me for this.” To which he pointed to his side “Which I might add ripped open. So there is all that fun.”
Weaving his fingers together, he took a breath and looked over at the man who probably was here for a relaxing, quiet meal. “Now, I need to ask you. Why THE ******** were you alone that night?”
His green gaze was sharp as it glared back over at him.

Of course the other wasn’t fine, of course he’d been hurt - and it was his fault. He’d wanted to patrol it was a sudden whim - a stupid whim. He hadn’t thought he’d be so awake as to wanna patrol, tp have the energy to do so. It had been the worst idea...it had hurt someone and it seemed it had caused other problems. Clamping down on the guilt that swept through him he turned slowly and met the others green eyes for a moment. His hands came to fold themselves in his lap, left over right, and bowed low and held it for several moments. “I apologize. It was a whim which struck as I had a burst of energy that evening and thought to patrol.”
He couldn’t have told Terry, not till he was out of the area and even then he couldn’t. He didn’t have gloves or any sort of coverings for his hands unlike some who were so lucky. His uniform lacked clothing and layers...it did nothing to hide the needle marks on the back of his left hand...like they were visible now as he straightened himself in his seat. Left hand over right in his lap and the two marks were visible with one fresher than the other which was a few days old now. He wished he didn’t bruise so easily but he did - unfortunate really.
He had to wear arm warmers around Terry or other coverings for his hands, something that matched whatever clothing he was wearing so they didn’t seem off and attract the others attention. He didn’t need to upset the other.
“I was wrong and apologize. I owe you for saving me - you didn’t have to.” His accent was heavy but he took the time to speak slowly - clearly. He sat there waiting, food chilling, as he watched the other knowing he had caused the other harm and upset people due to his thoughtless action.

“What did I just tell everyone? What did you just see during our attack on the Negaverse? They want us dead more than ever, and you thought it was smart to just wander off on a patrol. You already admitted to me that you have no training or experience. You nearly got corrupted, Seung. Do you even understand the gravity of that? You would have lost your life. Your memories. Half of your life would be gone in an instant.” He said, pressing his finger repeatedly to the side of his head to show the other wasn’t thinking.
“They are pissed right now. We attacked their home. Took their supplies. The General could have gobbled your starseed out of spite and destroyed your entire existence just so he could keep fighting me. I thought I made it clear to everyone not to do anything by themselves at night. You should have brought Erebus with you or not gone out at all.” He scolded him before seeing the hands.
His eyes flickered back up to him. “Are you high?”

“Couldn’t ask Erebus…” He said shaking his head before running his fingers through his hair. That would cause a fight, or something...he didn’t know what and didn’t want to honestly even think about it. The other had been upset the first time...he didn’t want to upset him again, to see that look in his eyes or hear his voice like that. He had to hide and powered up he couldn’t, he couldn’t just slip on arm warmers like he could when powered down, Terry would suspect it in seconds and he knew it.
Staring, wide eyed, he shook his head. “No - why?” Oh! Looking down he pointed to the marks. “No, no. No drugs.” Could he explain it to Torin? He owed it to him but would he react like Terry had? Did he risk it really?
“You should sit..” He tried again.

Grumbling, he sat, but it was with a gritting of his teeth. His body hurt too much, and sitting required a lot of careful movements. His side, shoulders, and body ached and it was even worse pretending he was OK around Wyatt just to save face. Instead, he wanted to lay on some grass and sleep, but paranoia always got the best of him. Even in civilian clothes, he didn’t like exposing himself.
Now sitting across from him, he pointed to his hands. “Then what is that? You’re bruised up there and the General didn’t p***k you that night.”

He could lie, he could make something up - anything. But he did owe it to the other...he might as well risk it. If everything fell apart he could figure out something else...he could try and find others to fit in with. If Terry was told...he suspected things between them might fall apart, he didn’t think it would survive a promise broken multiple times. Things were too new and he knew how bothered Terry had been the first time.
“Been tired...chaos piece. Went to clinic, have done it before, to help with being tired.” Rather than sleep like most people would do when tired. Rather than sleeping he went and did other things, found ways to push through it and past it - to over work himself and ignore certain needs...like sleep.
“Amino acids...for energy - IV drip….can’t tell Erebus.” He couldn’t tell Erebus and he was hoping the other wouldn’t either….really hoping. He sat there now waiting for judgement, for the others reaction, bracing mentally and emotionally for whatever was going to come. His food sat untouched, suddenly not much for eating.

He stared, silent for a moment before he looked back at his hands. “Being tired by chaos isn’t any reason to - what is it? Dripping acid? Is this a legal clinic or backalley? Why not take a nap like everyone else.”
And then he leaned in. “And WHY can’t you tell Erebus?”

“Amino acids...normal back home. Clinic in Korea town...hospitals don’t do here.” No, the suggestion would likely be sleep and he had things to do. He didn’t have the luxary of sleeping as much as he wanted to right now, though he did push himself normally anyway.
“Caught me once at clinic…” Terry hadn’t been pissed or angry but… “Was disappointed...upset.” He answered then while finally reaching for his chopsticks, it was safe to eat - right? “Said I wouldn’t go again - promised.” And he had broken it, at least twice given the two marks on his hand right now.

“One. If it’s not normal here, then maybe it isn’t a good idea. Also, you didn’t answer why you don’t just take a nap or that after doing that because you were tired made it okay to go on a patrol. Then, not only that, to go on a patrol alone. Why didn’t you call someone?” He pointed out.
The chopsticks made him notice he hadn’t ate, and so he reached into his backpack to fish out one of the tacos he had bought and set it down. “And you promised your boyfriend not to do something and still did it. You know he’s going to be pissed you betrayed his trust. You made a promise and lied, and you nearly died because of it.”
The wrapper was spread out to work as a plate and he picked out the small container of salsa to pour a bit inside of the taco. “Do you know that there is something Negaverse officers do that is like that. They eat starseeds for a energy boost. Eat too much, and they become monsters. Did you see what happened to Apatite.” He looked up at Seung.
“It’s not a starseed, but what you’re doing isn’t good for you and it makes your hands look horrible.” He flashed the back of his own hand. “You might want to keep what parts of you in good condition because a lot of things aren’t going to be kept pretty.” A mix of scars about his fingesr and a massive burn in the shape of a key shown on the back of his own hand before he lifted up his soft taco and took a bite.

“Don’t have the time, not sleep as much as want to. School, work, homework - busy.” Never mind the martial arts lessons also, which he wasn’t sure if he should mention. As the other took out food he decided to try and eat, like it was permission for him to go ahead and do what he’d been planning on doing. Going for one of the small sealed containers he had, rice inside of it, he started to eat as he opened another small container so he had something to add to the rice.
He was slow in his motions, almost thoughtful if one could be such when eating. “Done in hospitals back home.” Not just clinics, so it had to be ok - right? Though Terry worried about a clinic and clean supplies and him not getting sick from it. He understood it but it didn’t worry him like it did the other, perhaps it was because he’d never had an issue before? Because it was something trusted and that was talked about. It wasn’t a whispered about taboo thing.
“Will be upset if he finds out. Not going to tell him.” He would just add it to the pile of secrets he had kept over the years, secrets kept from various people, all sealed away from those who he didn’t want knowing them. It was just another one...nothing new, he was good at keeping secrets - his own and other peoples. “Knew I couldn’t keep it then.” He’d given the promise knowing he was very likely to break it. He just...he’d wanted to assure the other - make him feel better...lessen his worry.
Looking up from his food he shook his head. “Didn’t see her, was down below...down stairs. Heard though...didn’t know they did that.” he didn’t know they did that to gain energy. So how had it gone wrong for her? Was it like gain too much energy and just...explode from it all? Too much to handle. But he’d said they became monsters..why was that? How could energy cause such a thing? He had heard she’d changed into something shortly before blowing up and sending scales all over the place.
At having what he did compared to what they did he wanted to protest but he didn’t. He listened and looked over the others hand. His own marks would fade and vanish, as if nothing had happened, he knew he was likely to pick up scars during this war but a key shaped one...that was unusual. He didn’t question it though but it did have his attention for several moments. Keep his parts looking good while he could.
Rolling up his sleeves, as casual thing, as he took another bite of food. As he did so he moved his sleeve as it caught on the braided bit of black leather he wore on his wrist at all times, it was there for a purpose but he sort of just...never paid it any mind. A medical bracelet with a small strip of silver plate broke up the braided leather. One side proclaiming something in his native language but the up facing side proclaimed an allergy to nuts and peanuts, two separate things. With his sleeves out of the way he reached for his drink as he watched the other start to eat, dark eyes watching and waiting.
“Easy to cover and hide when not like this. Learned to do in high school.” He’d gone a few times, or more than a few, in the time leading up to his final exams. He could hide the marks most of the time, horrible looking as they were, but powered it was impossible. Maybe arm warmers and make up when powered down?

Setting his taco down, he used a napkin to wipe his hands. Then, leaning over, he raised his hand, and smacks the man atop his head. “STOP BEING CASUAL!”
He sat back down quickly. Too quickly, and gritted his teeth as he held his side a moment, but he didn’t stop his scolding. “If you HIDE it, you know it’s wrong. You LIE to your boyfriend. You LIE to your teammate. You risk your life and your existence. You need to prioritize what is most important. If you are too tired, then you need to use time patrolling to sleep or pick a time to go out. I’d rather you barely patrol then patrolling when you’re juiced up on something. You can’t rely on a quick fix.”
He frowned, but then he felt a sort of sick twisting at knowing that Seung was balancing demands of his home life with that of his other life. “But…..” And he gritted his teeth knowing he didn’t even like where he was going.
“If you can’t even rely on your own boyfriend for a patrol, then you have to patrol with me. I don’t care what time. You are FORBIDDEN to patrol on your own, ESPECIALLY after doing THAT…” He pointed to his hand. “..to yourself. It’s either no patrol or you buddy up. You got me?”
He held out his pinky. “Swear on it. As Seung, as a teammate, and as a knight.”

Terry had seemed bothered by how casual he was about it also, and about other things, was it really that wrong? Was it really so different here? Was the normal for him, was what was acceptable for where he was from, that different - that wrong here? He hadn’t expected to get smacked and it surprised him - clearly. Wide eyes stared at the other as he sat down. “Should be careful - injured.” He said pointing to the other.
It wasn’t that he thought it wrong...he just knew Terry thought it was wrong and so he hid it - for the others sake and to avoid a conflict or whatever else it would cause. He didn’t say this though, not wanting to argue over such things. But he didn’t see a problem with...others did as Terry wasn’t the only one apparently. He knew lying was wrong but Torin seemed to think it was a crime, by the sound of his voice and the stress he gave to that single word. People lied all the time, about all manner of things, he knew it risked the relationship he had with Terry but the other sitting across from him seemed to make it sound worse than that, worse than a possible relationship breaker.
“Was ok that night, had energy.” He whispered before taking a small bite to eat, his gaze still on the other as he did so, the other was upset with him - really upset with him. He had messed up - again. The one point he would agree on, even if he wouldn't’ voice anything he was thinking, was that it was a quick fix. It was a means of pushing past the tiredness till he finished whatever he was working on - whatever was keeping him awake.
He’d done it when studying for exams, he was doing it now so he could manage both sides of his life until he wasn’t feeling so drained from that bit of chaos. Once it left him and he wasn’t so tired he’d be ok...he’d be back to what was normal for him.
Seung had to hold back, to lock his joints, so he didn’t flinch at the others tone, at the emphasis given to what he’d done the other night and just done to himself before getting his dinner. Why was it made to seem like some...sin, that was what Christians used - right? It wasn’t a term he used as he didn’t follow that belief system, he didn’t even give it a thought aside from when it cropped up on the news back home.
Staring at the pinky offered to him he set his chopsticks down before using his right pinky to take the others. “I will - I swear.” And he felt like he was being treated as a child. He hadn’t felt like this since he was a child...damn it.

“I’ know I’m injured, I don’t need you reminding me!” He barked back, but then paused, taking a few breathes between his teeth.
Temper. Temper. He - had to work on that.
“..I am glad you at least promise that, but seeing as you lied to even your boyfriend, I’ll say this one thing.” He looked over across the table.
“If you so much as think of risking your life again, I will beat you within a inch of your life and GIVE you a reason to be in a clinic. Do you get that?”

Another spike of guilt but he didn’t let it show, kept still, he managed a nod of his head. “I apologize, did not try to remind you.” No, but he didn’t want to other furthering any injuries he had, again because of him, and it seemed he’d just further upset the other - done something wrong again. He did consider just leaving his chopsticks where they were, not picking them up to continue eating, and packing his dinner up under the pretense of finishing his dinner at home. His appetite was nearing zero right now, it was close, and the knotting in his stomach didn’t help any.
His own self abusive thoughts didn’t help him one bit with eating but he didn’t say anything, he never had, he just bottled them up like he typically did. He was used to it, used to hiding and masking everything even while standing right in front of the person he was hiding from, he had plenty of experience at home.
Nodding at the threat given he didn’t seem bothered by it, though some people surely would be. He just accepted it for what it was - a promise of what would happen should he mess up again.
“Won’t risk life again. Will be careful.” At least this only extended to him being powered up. He could handle it for the most part. It was what he got for being caught….for owing the other the truth and giving it - and then some.
He really needed to get stronger, get better at fighting, it was more to do but being weak...feeling weak...putting other people at risk like he had...it couldn’t happen again. He couldn’t risk someone else again, have someone else save him again, he didn’t like owing people things like the truth where he went and uncorked some of his secrets. He liked to keep them as they should always be - to himself. Yes, he would work on this as soon as he was healed up fully.

“Well you will have to be with me as your partner.” He pointed out, wrapping up his half-eaten taco to put it away before reaching in for a bottle of water and to pull out his prescription. He needed antibiotics badly. Fighting on a roof didn’t do well for open wounds, and he knew he might be coming down with a fever.
“On another note, what did you think.” He pointed to his chest. “Was that your first time?”

His own drink was lychee juice, it was in a small container which had been sealed by the restaurant his food came from. He’d already opened it so he could drink from it and he took a sip now, hoping it would calm his stomach some. He didn’t like how he felt and not for the reasons most would think - nope..he wasn’t that simple a person.
So whenever he powered up he’d have to let Torin know, likely before powering up, that might just cause issues between Torin and his partner though...wouldn’t it? He’d just keep from powering up for as long as he could...avoid it till he had his energy back without help.
Glancing up from the rim of his cup he shook his head. “No, was civilian first time...not clueless about the war though.” He answered easily. The general hadn’t been the first and likely wouldn’t be the last, not in a war. “Not him last time but met him before, when a Captain….said I would be a better officer.” He figured why the hell not say it, it was true. The other had wanted him then and apparently had been going to take him this time.
“Not only one to say it - lieutenant did too.”

“Seems he has a eye out for you as his target. I’d say be flattered he’d rather convert you than murder you, but if he can’t succeed over and over, his patience might go away and he might kill you. After a while, turning in a starseed would be better than nothing at all. Usually they try to convince you. It’s easier that way. Less problems. Less deaths.” He said, trying not to make long sentences.
“So you are even at more of a risk. With officers lost, they might want to really push for replacements. As a General, it’s his job. To make officers.” He never made any though, feeling a sort of twist whenever he thought about it. Maybe he had been a bad officer?
“I’m getting woozy. Is it okay if I lay my head a moment until the bus comes?” He asked.

Was it a good thing? He didn’t think so though keeping his life he suspected was good but the loss of family...wasn’t that the same as dying? You lost your family, memories...lost who you were in a sense. The idea of that possibly being a good thing wasn’t something he saw, not now anyway.
He could understand he was at a bigger risk, two wanted him to join the other side. If they ran into him again they’d try - again….and again till what? Death, fighting, or they won and got him. He just...he didn’t see whatever it was they saw him in, and he wasn’t about to ask why they wanted him. They likely would, after they had him, decide they didn’t want him anyway. He didn’t voice his thoughts though as he looked the other over and nodded his head once to the other.
“Of course, look tired.” And the other looked like he needed some more time recovering - a lot more time.
“Once you get bus I will go - needed home.” He said while packing up his dinner, he’d figure out what to do with it once he got home, though he was tempted to offer some to the other who seemed hungry. In fact after a moment's thought he did grab the second set of wooden chopsticks he had, broke them apart, and picked up a bit of rice and kimchi to offer the other. “Try, should eat.”
Seung waited until the other had left for the bus, as he said he would, and then he got up and made his own way home, food in a bag and at his side. He was, as he headed home, considering just letting his cousin have his food or perhaps leaving it in the fridge till he regained his own appetite.
