Wil really didn't much look like someone who should be shopping in a jewelry store. He was slouchy, smelled like some interesting mix of smoked products, had a healthy blonde stubble, and had the whole look of someone who may have been sleeping on a park bench moments before... because he may have. There was a fluffy bunny backpack, something that looked like a child would own it, slung over his shoulder and he kept adjusting it on a freckled shoulder as he browsed. Honestly the dingy tank top probably wasn't a ringing endorsement either. He'd stood outside and looked in the window a while with a dull, detached expression until he'd moved inside to glance over bracelets, and eventually move to rings.

The store wasn't very large and Naz was currently the only employee out front; which was fine because there was only really one customer here, and she was pretty sure she could manage one customer, at the very least. Even a particularly scruffy one. She'd kept him in the corner of her eye while organizing a necklace display, trying to figure out if she should approach him - but ambushing him so soon after stepping through the door was a bit pushy, so she figured waiting a little bit was the key. When he moved from bracelets to rings she saw her opportunity and made her move, putting on a charming smile and joining him. "We have a wide selection of rings in many styles, perfect for any occasion - or no occasion at all." She waited a beat before continuing, "can I help you look for something in particular?"

Wil glanced up, he seemed surprised slightly but at the same time hadn't jumped. He seemed to mosey in all his actions, slow, and the blonde had sleepy blue eyes under a thick mop of blonde curls. "Huh? .. Oh." Wil smiled lazily, "I was just looking for a gift but I really don't know what I'm looking for.." He'd given jewelry before so he wanted something different. "Anniversary."

Nazriya opened her mouth to continue with her Perfect Saleslady Speech (yes, she'd named it) when her expression twisted for less than a second before settling on something more natural than the 100watt plastic smile she'd had on before. "Ah, screw it," she mumbled before focusing back on the guy, "well, I should be able to help you with that, barring any major disasters or sudden slow wit on my part." Her lips twitched into a natural grin as she relaxed from her perfect posture and her body language became markedly less stiff and more open and friendly. "Anniversary..." She hummed, surveying the jewelry around them for a moment, "well, might be best to go back to the basics first. What's your beau like - do they have any jewelry preferences that you know of? If not, we could always find something that fits their personality. Oh! Or something that reflects how you feel about them?"

Wil wondered slowly if he just seemed super gay or if because it was Ashdown everyone just assumed everyone they met was gay. The assumption was hardly an offense, since it was for his boyfriend, but he wondered if the fluffy bunny backpack was making him more obvious. The worry was gone like a puff of smoke because Wil could care less. "Well I gave him a bracelet on our first so-" Last year had been another meal orchestrated by Nasir. He wanted to do something especially nice for him this year. "He's a cook so I don't want it to interfere with him working but I was thinking maybe a ring-" He blinked lazily, "Not like- marriage ring thing-" Engagement ring, Wil."Maybe something nice. Maybe matching? for the both of us?"

"That sounds like a great idea," Nazriya nodded, thinking. Should she ask about a pricepoint? No, probably best just to show him what they had - even if the men's selection was pretty decent, it was still not as large as the women's section. "We have most of our men's rings over here," she gestured towards a nearby glass case with a smile. It was decently large and set up so that the rings on display were all visible, though some slightly better than others. "If you see anything you like, let me know and I'll get it out for you to take a closer look. "Our styles are mainly contemporary, nothing antique, but all in all I think our selection is pretty varied." And even a bit eccentric at times, but there was no reason to say that out loud in case he turned out to be one of the eccentrics. "They're set up by pricepoint, starting here -" she pointed at a ring, careful not to touch the glass and smudge it with her fingers, "- at around 50$ and moving upwards from there."

Wil leaned and wrinkled his freckled nose to look at the rings, readjusting his backpack as he did so. "We aren't very antiquey- I guess. So that's okay." Men's ring trends seemed to favor chunky dark metals in recent years but none of those appealed to Wil. Gemstones also seemed to be immediately glossed over. "Nasir works a lot with his hands do you think-" He looked at his own, slightly stained between art supplies and smoking, "Maybe a thumb would be better or a normal ring?"

"Personally I'd imagine a thumb ring gets in the way more, but I've never worn one so I can't say for sure. If he's a cook then damascus steel might be - wait," Naz blinked, finally catching up to something other than work, "Nasir? About this tall -" she gestured with a hand, "dark hair, charming smile, glasses?" What were the odds, in a city as large as this? She blinked. Okay, that was really cool - that her first customer should be looking for a gift for someone she knew; and considering the small number of people she knew in this town, the odds had to have been very low indeed.

Wil nodded with another slow smile, "Yeah- that's him." He was ever reminded that everyone liked and knew Nasir it seemed. And Wil used to think he knew a lot of people. "It's our three year anniversary soon."

" Fantastic!" She leaned forward slightly, brilliant grin and all her emphasis on the one word. "s**t, I know hardly anyone in this country and my first customer comes looking for a gift for one of the very few I do know; seriously, coincidences! Anyway, I'm Nazriya, it's really great to meet you!" But this wasn't about her, it was about Nasir and his boyfriend and making sure he got the perfect rings for their anniversary. She clasped her hands and thought for a moment, "I really do think damascus steel would work well for a chef, it doesn't chip or flake or anything like that and the patterns made by the folding of the metal are quite lovely, too. I'll get out the ones we've got and you can take a look." Quickly unlocking the case she got out the rings in question and put them on the nearby counter, "this is what we've got in damascus steel rings; if none of them catches your fancy, I think we have some tungsten rings too which would also work well for a chef." iloveyouDIE if you find a picture of a ring you like online feel free to make it ic that the store has it : D I can also find some damascus steel rings for you to look at if you want, but I thought I'd leave it up to you first in case you have a ring you'd like to be there!!

Wil was pleased, at least he seemed to be because his lazy smile hadn't faltered, "The universe works in mysterious ways." He looked at the rings presented to him, nose wriggling in thought, "The damascus is kind of dark right? I'm not sure I like it." The folded metal was neat but the metal did lean towards a darker shade and he wasn't a fan. The internal patterns didn't mesh with what he had in his mind. He glanced over the other cases, pointing out a design regardless of the metal. He just liked the shape of it, "How about that?"

Naz laughed huskily, "that it does!" Nodding at his verdict, she prepared to put the damascus steel rings away when he pointed to another one. "Oh! Good choice! Let me just put these away and I'll get it out for you, alright?" Moving quickly but confidently, she made quick work of doing just that. "Okay," she set the ring he'd picked out down on the counter with a triumphant air, "this is, I'm pretty sure - let me just check..." Taking the small magnifying glass she wore on a long chain around her neck in hand, she checked the metal marker inside the ring. "Aha, yes!" Letting her magnifying glass fall to her breast, she held out the ring to the customer with a victorious smile, "this ring is, rather perfectly, tungsten carbide. It's one of the most durable metals out there and nothing Nasir gets up to in the kitchen - or anywhere else, really - should be able to scratch it. Doesn't get much more perfect for a chef; you want to take a closer look at it?"

"Sure," Wil nodded and waited before she handed him the ring to look over. He turned it over in his hand, expression a bit heard to read, but eventually he was confirming with another nod. "I like it. I want to get matching ones.." He spun his backpack around a second and fished in the pocket before he was pulling out a piece of scrap paper he'd written ring sizes on in advance. "I have the sizes and- do you do inscriptions?"

For a moment she worried he didn't like the ring up close, but at his words she brightened up, "of course!" Having the sizes prepared made things a lot easier, "excellent - and yes, we do! On a ring of this width we can do two lines, 30 characters and spaces each for a total of 60 and on tungsten bands, the charge is an additional 45$ since it'll have to be done by laser. They'll be ready for you to pick up in three days; would you like to see a sample of the fonts we have available?" Mentally she was going over her checklist of information, making sure she hadn't forgotten anything. So far, so good at least.

Wil nodded obediently about the pricing. He didn't have much experience with jewelry prices besides buying his mom things every now and again, or his dad a watch here and there. It all sounded reasonable. "Sure-" He waited to see the fonts, also ready to write things down and sign whatever he needed to sign. "So where are you from?" He replied with a small smile and delayed interest, "You said you weren't from this country."
