User ImageThe spring always brought about change and new life after a cold winter. The lands had warmed up and flowers were blossoming all over, especially in his home. Thanos had searched long and hard for the perfect little place for him and his mate. It had a fresh creek running along side it, fruit trees dotting around the grassy open area. He had scoped it out for weeks to make sure there would be no danger. It had left them temporarily placed in a cramped cave until he was sure it would be safe. They traveled a full day to reach it and ever since, they have made it their home to share with three full sized children. As much as they loved them, the pair had agreed to see others of their own size just for the purpose of producing more members for their family. He held no resentment for his mate when she might wander off for awhile. There was nothing but happiness in him when she returned.

Thanos entered the meadow, his glowing eyes glanced around for the familiar small frame he was looking for. He would patiently wait there for her, if it took forever, he would still be there. When he didn't see her right away he made use of his time by kicking down some of the apples and moving them into the shade of a different tree, where the ground had a groove that two bodies often laid in. He busily arranged the apples in a bunch, while lifting his head often to look around him. It felt like today, she would be home.

She was walking along happily, thinking about her mate, their children, and their wonderful home. Thanos had painstakingly scouted out and prepared the place for their family, and Laina had done her best to make it cheerful and homey by planting many flowers and sweet-smelling fruit plants. Due to her heritage plants grew much faster and stronger in her presence and as a result she had a thriving and beautiful garden. She had planted strategically so there were paths to walk through, which she did often. Thanos often had to retrieve her from her garden to eat and spend time with him, as she loses track of time easily.

She missed him terribly. She hadn't been gone long, but the nature of her departure made her long for her mate. The two of them knew it would be difficult, coming from two different breeds. They could not have children on their own, and had to seek out surrogates to fulfill their wish for family. They had agreed to seek these out and do what must be done, but it still made her feel bad.

The diminutive mare always felt guilty when she left her mate alone. Her consolation was that their children were there to keep him company. She hoped he didn't feel terrible about the purpose of her disappearance, as she sometimes did. She loved only Thanos, but they wanted a family and while the Spirits saw fit to gift them their first three children, they knew to have more they would have to do certain things that made them uncomfortable. Still, she couldn't feel too terrible about it. Not with the life she felt growing within her. A grin spread across her face as she thought about it. This would be a new adventure, little usdia babies for the two of them to care for! She couldn't wait to tell the other children as well.

Her step lightened as their familiar home came into view. She knew just where Thanos would be waiting for her, and she sped up her step to reach him faster.

"Thanos my love!" she called. "I have returned!" She flung herself at him with abandon, snuggling him happily. After a few moments she broke away and looked up at him lovingly. "I have such wonderful news! Our family is going to expand!"

She was glowing with excitement, practically bouncing with the energy she felt flowing through her. This was the first time she would feel the lives of her children within her, and it thrilled her.

"The surrogate, he may visit from time to time as well." She smiled, hoping her mate found that as beneficial as she did. It was good for the kids to know the one who had gifted them to Thanos and Laina.

He stood patiently, listening all around for signs of her or anyone else coming close to their home. So far he had only heard one of their daughters, who had wandered over to grab her own fruit to eat. She knew just as he did that their usdia family member would be home soon so she kept a distance from her pacing father. As soon as the familiar voice rang out in the other wise quiet of the day Thanos couldn't have cared if a herd trampled through. He turned to spot her as her smaller legs carried her quickly across the field to him. He trotted over and curled a leg around her frame, hugging her close as they nuzzled.

He could have been miserable leaving his mind to think about his mate going out alone, where he couldn't watch over her, doing something he knew he couldn't. They had promised however to do their best to make the most of it, other wise they would never have a larger family. In the end she would come back to him, just as he would for her and that is what mattered most. "I've missed you so much my little rose." He responded before her announcement, nuzzling his muzzle through her mane. The best part of the disappearing, to him, was reuniting and now this news.

He loved the children the spirits granted them, all three strong and full sized. It left a curiosity however on the smaller version of foals. No doubt they would be as energetic as his mate. He smiled though it was hidden in her mane. "That is great news" His muzzle slipped from her dark hair as he let her go and gently ushered her towards the fruit he picked. "All the more reason to eat. There could be two or even three little ones to nurture." he chuckled. His reaction to her second news faultered his happy moment. They hadn't spoken about the surrogates visiting. He hadn't thought about that part at all, it wasn't like he had done this before. "Is that.. necessary?"

She reveled in the attention he showered her with, losing herself in his scent and warmth as he enveloped her. She closed her eyes, trying to freeze time in that moment. But the moment passed, as moments tended to. He pulled away, if only to offer her food. She couldn't help but smile at how nurturing he was and not for the first time she thought about how wonderful a father he was.

"I hope it's only two and not three, for my waistline's sake!" She giggled, letting him lead her over to the food he had picked. "Though I also hope for three to expand our family." She beamed up at him.

Her smile faded, however, at the hesitation in his voice. She had been nervous about telling him, but when the surrogate wished to come by now and again she couldn't refuse him. "It's not necessary, in the strictest sense, but the stallion travels far and wide and hoped that when he was in our area we might provide shelter. Is it... so terrible?" She blinked up at him, worried she had done wrong by answering for the both of them when the issue had arisen. "We'll likely rarely see him..."

He looked forward to when she would be finished with eating, he planned to snuggle her the rest of the day. That said, there was still the current topic at hoof. He nosed a bright red apple towards her before speaking. "Would that not be confusing, especially when they are foals. That I am their father.. but not, because he visits." His voice was quieter then before, unsure if any of the three grown children were within earshot. The long tail he sported would reach out and curl over her flank, as he usually did when showering her in affection or easing her mind. He was there. No matter what. "If you think it's best, then I will follow your wishes." As he said that he lowered his head to lightly nuzzle against her belly. "I will love them the same."

She accepted the apple gratefully, her stomach rumbling loudly. She had been travelling all day, and needed energy replenished. She noticed strawberries nearby and slid them over to Thanos with a smile. She swallowed the last of the apple, nuzzling closer to him. "I think..." she began after a long pause. "I think we can raise them to understand. They will be able to see they are different from you, and as they grow they're going to figure out we can't biologically have children together anyway. I think it will be less of a shock if we explain it. When they're young we can simply say he was the one to help give us a family, leaving any gritty details for adulthood, if ever." She was thinking it out as she spoke and nodded to herself as she thought it out. "Though honestly, he may not even show up until the kids are adults. Who knows? He's a wanderer we may not see for years." Nothing formal had been set up. Somehow she wished her mate had been with her to hammer out these details. She understood why he wouldn't want to come along, of course. It was a tricky business, what they had to do to create their family. Still, looking up at Thanos she was happy, even with their complications. "I love you," she said dreamily, becoming tired from the journey. And perhaps from being pregnant, she thought happily. She'd never carried foal before and was excited at the prospect. "Anyway, How were you while I was gone? Anything exciting happen?"

When she went for the apple, he would watch her eat it. Especially now in her condition it was all he could do to take care of her. Even when she tried to feed him the red berries, he ended up sliding most back to her. It wasn't a secret that he liked a different sort of red but he never indulged in front of his family. He listened to her explain her thoughts and he could agree she had a point. More thought out he could see that it could work out. He wanted to make sure she knew what she had agreed to when she told this stallion he could show up. While it would be awkward when that time came, Thanos couldn't do anything about future events right now. He smiled softly and encouraged her to snack on those berries. He laid down in their spot, leaving room for her by his side. "I love you too, I always will"

Resting on the ground he had to be more aware of their surroundings while at the same time he could enjoy being closer to her level. His glowing eyes taking in the lovely vision of his mate "I chased off a squirrel." he started with a chuckle, "Other than that, nothing exciting. Reine has been back and forth lately. With the prospect of you carrying her siblings, I would say she has been anxious on your return almost as much as I."

She finished her meal and snuggled against her mate happily, having missed his touch. She breathed in the scent of him, letting him envelope her entirely. She hated being away from home, but it had been necessary at this time. She wished so dearly to feel her children inside her, even though the Spirits were so generous in gifting them children.

She listened happily to his voice, smiling fondly at him chasing off squirrels and their daughter's eager behavior. She had missed her children as well, and couldn't wait to see them. "I was anxious to be home just as much as you guys were anxious for my return. I don't think I'll be leaving again for quite some time." She poked at her belly pointedly. She didn't have any reasons to leave.

Thanos automatically dipped his head down once she was at rest and laid it against her back, using only slight pressure so they could feel each other. He smiled "I couldn't let you leave. I want to see your radiant face every day and cherish this time with you." His head slowly swept behind her wings down to her dark tail and back in a comforting stroke. He had been so lucky that they both arrived in these new lands around the same time and he found her. It always entered his mind when he had her close, inhaling her intoxicating floral scent. "I can't wait to feel them." His head lifted to look into her eyes.
