History
Carmillion was a nation that was formed hundreds of years ago in the days of old. The Fey, having lost much of their forests due to various nations beginning to form, needed a nation of their own lest they be wiped out. As such, they decided to pour their efforts into creating a kingdom of light and order, a safe-haven for all that found themselves in similar positions. Their architecture formed and evolved to resemble that of a European style, as did their social classes. In the days of old, before Knights and Mages, it was a hierarchy of those with the most magical potential. Fairies reigned at the top while other beings ranged among them in status. Many left because of this hierarchy and formed their own kingdoms in distant lands. Demons, feeling that they Fey had lost the meaning of their own safe-haven, migrated further South and began to rule their own kingdom under a different hierarchy. It took centuries for this class system to modify itself in Carmillion, and some say that the class system was modified for the worst.
In its present-day form, Carmillion is a very modern settlement that has skyscrapers and farmlands alike. It is self-sustained and has one of the strongest agricultural economies on the planet. They revel in a peace that is handed to them by a lack of war, resulting in their nation having to rely on Eldrin's military might for the most part. They train their own soldiers, but they are nothing compared to the demon kingdom's mighty warriors. Carmillion, however, has a knack for producing great mages, some of the mightiest of all in fact. Many well-known mages originate from Carmillion and travel around the world doing as they like. Sometimes they return, other times they settle in other countries. Carmillion's class structure is far different in the modern day. It can be stated in a simple line of hierarchy. Soldiers, Knights/Servants, Civilians, Mages, Officials, and finally the royalty of the city. Most military-oriented occupations are valued far less than the standard occupation and the city council has even debated shutting down its funds altogether and relying entirely on Eldrin. Likewise, Knights are seen as useless and simply being meant to benefit Mages, much like servants for royalty. As such, they hold little weight in society.
