Nasir was carrying a slightly different bag than usual. Something with a side that would keep things warm, as necessary, and cool on the other. Mostly because he had to make these things before he came over versus letting them settle. With school out, himself graduated with no intent to further at the moment, and his arm healed up, Nasir had spent a lot of time at Darlene's which meant far too much time for experimentation. Luckily Sunny was safe from that. Pausing a moment to unclip and reclip a loose strand of hair with a barrette with a butterfly on it, Nasir continued following the sandy path. Maybe he should have asked Sunny if she wanted to meet somewhere else ... It was always the beach, his nose wrinkled up while he adjusted the strap on his shoulder. shibrogane sunny, i am so sorry. or not. because, uh, the fair food may have come to you.

"Hi," said Sunny, having smelled Nasir's goodies before seeing the man himself. "That smells amazing. Is it frydough? You're my favorite. I promise you are. Even before beard papa." She scrambled down from the rock wall on which she'd settled, joining Nasir as he walked towards her. "Whatever it is smells really good, Nasir.

"Hey ~" Nasir smiled widely, easily. His eyes were a little bigger behind the glasses he wore now but at least that smile of his was always the same. Including the darkening of his skin at being told he was he was her favorite. Over Borr who was pretty amazing. "I believe you," he laughed, "and it is! Just need to get a blanket out to sit on and you can have at what I've brought." For a moment he looked a little sheepish. "I may have gone overboard because ... Well, I've not actually made something you asked for before." A flap was opened and a blanket was pulled out. "Help me set this down?"

Sunny grinned and accepted the blankety offering, spreading it out over a nice minimally-rocky patch of sandy beach stones. "How's here? 'Cause I can move it." And/or magic the rocks away, but Nasir thought she was normal and she liked it like that. She flopped down on the blanket and pulled Nasir down with her. "You're the best no matter what," she said. "Sometimes I have to lie to other people so they don't feel bad. But my heart is always with you. Promise."

"It looks good." There was another easy grin and he went easily when she pulled, the food bag that he brought with him set down in front of them both. "Well, you always have a place in my heart," he meant it, "but I promise to keep your heart safe as long as it's with me, alright?" Also true because Sunny was practically family to him at this point. The thing he had brought with him was flipped open, two taller than normal bottles of coke pulled out. It just so happened that his little food carting around thingmabob also had a bottle opener on it, so he took advantage of it. The labeling on the bottle was all in Spanish except for well it said Coke. Whether or not it tasted better, no one knew, but it was made from real sugar instead of corn syrup. "Here, hold these ..." The bottles were pressed into Sunny's hands while he went to the other side of the bag where the warm stuff was. The first container was pulled out, a togo box from Darlene's, and flipped open. "A funnel cake with powdered sugar." Which was laid out for inspection and tasting.

Sunny held the bottles, but abandoned them to the sand once the funnel cake was presented. (She dug little holes for them first so they didn't spill.) "This is way different from frydough," she observed, but she still looked rather pleased with the messiness of it, the fun of pulling pieces off the edges. "Wow."

"It's really good though ..." Nasir was pinching a piece off for himself. "I also brought something else for you to try too after you've had some funnel cake." He might have gone a little overboard but that was usually how things went when he was baking. "Next time I might bring red velvet funnel cake if you like this. It's super rich." He was setting things down on the blanket, pushing his glasses up on his nose when they slid down. "At least the seagulls are staying away." Greedy, greedy things.

"It's amazing," agreed Sunny. "All of the food is amazing." She had no taste. This was not a matter of opinion. "We could invite them over but they can be pretty rude," she said thoughtfully. "Your glasses are cute, Nasir."

"Food is amazing - every bit of it." Nasir had taste but he just believed all food was great regardless. His eyes cut over to the seagulls, giving them what might have passed for a stern look before turning back to Sunny. "Oh ..." The young man's face warmed, mostly because compliments always did that. "Thanks." He reflexively touched them again, fiddling and then letting his hand drop. "I thought I was just over doing it because of finals and work but nope, needed glasses. Don't get headaches anymore."
