Cooking, his specialty revolves around French and Mediterranean. He's currently in the midst of learning Hispanic and Mexican style cuisine and attempting to create a fusion with the two.

Reading books and essays, especially in the field of Philosophy. His favorites: Thomas Paine 'Common Sense"; All 3 philosophers works on Social Contract Theory; Plato "Republic"; Johathan Swift "A Modest Proposal"

Talents/Skills/Powers:
Dynamic-Lingualist
The Philosopher possesses high level of intellect and is a hyper-linguist: an ability which allows him to translating any languages, spoken or written, human or alien in origin -- though the later takes considerable time to do so. His superhuman skill also extends to his great facility in deciphering codes and ancient hieroglyphs as well as understanding hidden intentions and body language. The Philosopher's skills are so vast that he was once able to make great headway in translating the written language of an extraterrestrial race in less than a month -- and perfectly talk in their dialect and integrate within their culture in two months time. His linguistic skill grew with him graduating University of Oxford with a PhD. in English and is easily able to be seen as a prominent local in foreign nations with full understanding of the language, dialect, and colloquialism used in the nation. Some of the language he's able to fluently speak are Spanish, French, Latin, German, Japanese, English, Russian, Cantonese, Mandarin, Greek, Portuguese, Arabic, Sanskrit, Hindi, Thai and much more.

The Philosopher vs Cypher -- Telepathy vs Empathy
The Philosopher's talent for translating languages differs from the translating ability that someone like Cypher who is a mutant that possesses this ability even to a higher degree. Where Cypher is more in part be related to telepathy -- the Philosopher's power is a lot more empathetic.

The biggest dichotomy is this: where Cypher subconsciously solves the problem and can reach a certain solution by means that appear to be leaps of logic -- in which he himself may not have been consciously aware of the entire process by which he reaches the right answer -- the Philosopher can consciously read the people's dialectic tone, body language, and emotions through eidetic memories of his previous relation with the language. Though it's much more slower process, the Philosopher can create a bridge of "social connection" in which the Philosopher and the individual he's relating to have multiple commonality with just -- at the best case scenario -- one conversation.

Charisma
Because of his linguistic expertise the Philosopher favorable facet of his intelligence is his ability to talk his way out of situations, as a man with an unprecedented amount of wisdom, he prefers to talk, rather than fight. Once the Philosopher was able to reason with the god and goddess of war -- Ares and Bellona -- and persuade them to not allow World War 3 to happen.

Political Scientist and Investigator
This omni-lingual skills is applied just as sharply in the political arena as they did in the boardroom. As the Philosopher refers to himself as the "ultimate hitchhiker and diplomat", he knew the intricacies of bureaucratic politics as well as any other politicians. What makes the Philosopher dangerous in both in's and outs of politics is how he is capable of observation, forensic investigation, and inductive and deductive reasoning of the highest caliber. Human intuition is an unlearnable trait and one of the Philosopher's most effective tools. Given any mystery, he can arrive at a conclusion through linguistic literacy.

Other Characteristics

Are they generally balanced or clumsy?
== Neither; he is both. There are moments where the Philosopher is often in a clumsy state and often where he's in a moment of balance.

Mannerisms/Poses/Movement:
One of his many mannerisms is the way he talks to the person in front of him. He doesn't immediately jump into the conversation. Rather he ponders on what the person in front of him said -- the literary devices they used in that short or long sentence, the meaning behind each diction, and the syntax of the word -- before he eases into the conversation. Even in the midst of a conversation, and how his name is usually recognized, he is usually seen in "The Thinker" pose; with his chin resting on one hand as though deep in thought, The Philosopher often is seen pondering on the many mysteries of people's dialects.

Habits/OCDs/Obsessions:
One of his habits is to sporadically pull out his digital notebook and stylus pen to just write whatever is on his mind -- though fair warning to anyone who want to find out whatever is in it: it cannot be decrypted nor could it be translated. The Philosopher -- having the wisdom that anything can be hacked nowadays -- created his own, patented, dialect and is only known to him.

Unique phrases/words:

"expectare et videre" -- wait and see

{Limited Information} of Psychological/Personality Attributes and Attitudes

Intelligence Level:
Gifted; Borderline Genius

Character's long-term goals/desires in life:
To answer the following question -- is life to be lived full of duty or happiness?

Character's short-term goals/desires in life:
Get a Degree and possibly a Masters in political philosophy and theory

Secret desires:
Become a shepherd and own a sheep farm

How do they see him/herself?:
Jokingly -- the Philosopher see's himself as a puppet being controlled by an evil deity that created all the truths of the worlds, and it is his duty to find the absolute truth of the world. So far he only was able to follow what Rene Descartes discovered.

Seriously -- multi-dimensions aside, there is only one Johnny Yu-Han Chan in the world; and before he dies he'll do things that only Johnny Yu-Han Chan can tell in his story.

What is the character most proud of?:
Earning the Nobel-Peace Prize for writing two dissertation papers that questioned the ethics of mutant discrimination: "You are a Mutant" and "The Complexity within the Banality of Evil"

For his English dissertation "You are a Mutant", he argued the use of the English word "mutant" and the Freudian relation that the word has amongst socio-American culture in religion, politics, and humanities studies. Using existing conditions of mutations vs the "de facto" use of mutants, he effectively argued that if calling someone who is visually or is gifted differently from someone like himself who is, by definition, a mutant as well.

In terms of his Philosophy dissertation "The Complexity within the Banality of Evil" he argued against the deontological movement of Americans towards mutant hatred simply because of a blind/unquestioning sense of obligation to authority that points that "mutants" are "unnatural" -- and using Descartes "Evil Deity" the Philosopher argued that the masses were being led by an absolute authority (a level of a divine being) that is spreading a "truth" that Mutants "aren't normal" and it is their duty to fight against this unnaturalness: this is the complexity within the banality of evil: an everyday sort of evil, a bureaucrat who is eager to do his/her job; one who lacked empathy or perspective.

It was these two papers that propelled pro-mutant rights movement where activists made the argument that America is trying to turn back the clock on human rights and any government act that are being passed to threaten the lives of mutants are unconstitutional; it also showed America as an intolerant country which is a hypocrisy to its own image of "equality" and the "land of the free" and questioned it's sovereign position as a country superpower of the world.

What does the character like least about themselves?:
The plug on his right earlobe, is the hole too big?

Most at ease when:
He's able to just sit down and have a one on one conversation with another person in peace

Ill at ease when:
He's around super-powered beings

If they could be described with one of the seven virtues, which would it be?
Patience

If they could be described with one of the seven sins, which would it be?
Sloth

Relationships with others (non-married)

Marital status:
Single

Pets:
Illegally owns a two year old hedgehog named Jigglypuff -- the reason being is that Hedgehogs aren't allowed in California, so he needs to be more secretive of her rather than his own role within the super-powered community. Jigglypuff is...well she's a quiet but tamed little hedgehog that loves to scurry around the apartment and loves to hide under the pillow. She's rarely scared anymore and doesn't roll up into a ball so thank goodness for that.

Describe their sense of trust:
Surprisingly somewhat: the Philosopher doesn't hold too much trust with people, but always tries to see the good in them. There are only a handful of people he is willing to put his trust into -- and sure it's slow for him to trust someone, but the Philosopher will be completely loyal once they have his confidence.
